At the end of the last story, FBI Special Agent Loretta Jackson was missing and feared to be the latest victim of the Copper Killer. She’d put herself at risk to protect her sister, Anya Best, a red-headed profiler and college professor. When she learns about her sister’s fate, Anya reaches out to Heath Jones to help her find the killer. He and his brothers are also on the run from Isobel Madison and Elton Cobb and helping Anya raises their profile more than they’d like.
It was an interesting story initially but I wearied of the search for the Copper Killer as there were virtually no clues to his identity as things progressed. Dr. Madison, Cobb and her protege Daniel were entertaining as usual and the two storylines often converged, which made it more exciting.
I listened to the story and I know it may be sacrilege but I wasn’t pleased with the performance, particularly the choices made for Anya. She came across as semi-hysterical for most of the book and I never could reconcile that with her written portrayal. I’m sure this contributed to my overall opinion of the book. I’ll definitely finish the series but think I’ll read the last book. 3.5 stars

3 - "Blood brothers for life." Stars.
Rebecca Zanetti returns to the Blood Brothers series, with book two; Lethal Lies giving us Heath Jones’ story.
He was more than aware of his trigger points, and she hit them all.
This story literally picked up where its predecessor Deadly Silence left off, and as with this series and its predecessor (Sin Brothers) there are always two stories playing out, the bigger one regarding the boys upbringing, and the people involved in that, and the individual brother meeting and then getting together with his woman, around a secondary plot. For me this book is the weakest I have ever read from this author in all aspects(and I have read everything).
"You and me, it was real, and I’m not letting you be another fuckin’ failure in my life."
I will be honest, if this hadn’t been written by Rebecca, I would have likely DNF’d it around the halfway mark. Reason being absolutely nothing of note or real relevance had happened in the bigger picture or between Heath and Anya by that point. The focus on the serial killer and Heath’s mommy issues pretty much killed the extremely tenuous connection between them, and whereas I expect growly, alpha male versus confident, sassy female, both characters seemed to be lacking in all of those attributes in this one.
"I’ll do this with or without you."
The book in general felt too long, especially when you take into account that the bigger part of the story with Cobb and Madison has pretty much not moved at all by the end of it, what is a 400 page book for me could have easily been edited down to 250 pages without losing what was going on, but making the pace a little more digestible.
"It’s time to stop running. We’re ready."
Another gripe, was the lack of sexy-times, this is an author who excels at building the heat and tension between her couples, but nothing really happened until the second half, and I think due to the lack of any real chemistry between the pair, what did occur just felt a little pedestrian to me and almost disconnected to the rest of the story between them.
"Somethings coming and soon."
On the plus, the banter between the brothers seemed to be the only thing that was of the usual high standard, but the author needs to make sure that Denver’s book Twisted Truths, when it’s released in November finally ties up everything that has been going on since the beginning of the Sin Brothers series, and tie off everything that has been happening with all the characters that have hitched onto the wagon along the way.
I don’t think this is a series that has the legs to carry it on for as long as the authors Dark Protectors books (best series ever!). I am at that point where, as much as I love these characters (despite my disappointment this time) that they have all earned a well-earned rest, once Madison and Cobb have had their arses royally kicked of course!

I loved and I mean I LOVED Zanetti's Sin Brothers series. So when I saw there's a spin off series with the Blood Brothers, I was sold. I was immediately hooked on the story with Deadly Silence. I was intrigued by the three men that forged a bond that was beyond blood and genetics. They have a brotherhood that's all theirs. On the run from Sheriff Cobb and his seeking revenge for the death of his cruel brother that made their life at the boy's home a living hell, they refuse to form any bonds...especially a woman. With the doctor that's responsible for their genetic makeup determined to bring them to heel, they have all the more reason to avoid any entanglements...until Ryker falls in love.
Heath is envious of his brother but knows that will never be him. He's a protector but he refuses to let go of his heart and give in to his baser urges when it comes to women. When their investigation agency brings them in the center of the investigation of a deranged serial killer, Heath finds himself the protector of Anya. Anya is determined to bring the man that murdered her FBI sister to justice, with or without Heath's help. Anya tempts Heath like no other woman ever have, but can he outrun his past without it bringing Anya down and protector from the serial killer that's obsessed with her without losing his heart along the way?
I wanted to love this book. I wanted to so bad...but it lost me more and more with every chapter. Heath's mommy issues managed to overshadow any semblance of romance that developed between him and Anya.
He's so hell bent on protecting her like she's this delicate flower, he completely misses the strong woman in front of him. It drove me out of my ever loving mind. I thought it would get better as the story progressed, but it never did. Everything came back to this issue and it overshadowed everything. I never truly felt a connection with this couple beyond Heath's fierce need to protect her. I wanted to feel their chemistry, and while it was there, it was lackluster at best. He treats her like cracked crystal and no matter how often she showed him that she's strong and knows what she wants, he refused to see it. This dynamic lasted too long for my taste and it totally killed the enjoyment of this book for me. Everything read very...dry. I liked the mystery and I loved the action at the end, but unfortunately it still wasn't enough to save the book for me. While I enjoyed the suspense, I never clicked with the romance. I didn't dislike it, I just didn't love it either. It was those middle of the road books that I don't regret reading but would easily forget once I finished.
I don't recommend reading this as a standalone because I feel a lot of context would be missed. I also would recommend reading it if you're a fan of the series because it does have a pivotal event to the overall story arc.

Right from the beginning this book had my pulse racing as Heath and Anya tried to find a crazed killer. I wouldn't describe this book as a thriller, but at times I thought my heart would beat right out of my chest when I was sucked into the mystery. I loved that the story got me so captivated and I was unable to put the book down for a long period of time.
Heath and Anya had a pretty insta-love relationship but it worked with the story and I found their connection very believable. However, Anya's character just didn't work for me at times. I can't even say exactly what it was but there were times where I was questioning why she was even there since she just didn't seem important to the story sometimes.
Overall, this is a book I would definitely recommend if you have a few hours to sit down and get sucked into a suspenseful read. Deadly Silence should be read before starting this one so you get the full background of these brothers, but that book is just as good so it's no hardship to have to read that.

3.75 Lethal Stars!
Rebecca Zanetti's Blood Brothers series continues with Heath’s story. Blood Brothers is a spinoff series of RZ’s Sin Brothers series (a favorite of mine!). You really don't have to read the Sin Brothers series to enjoy this series, but, I highly recommend reading Deadly Silence, book one in this series before reading Lethal Lies.
The brothers are private investigators and possess enhanced skills that give them the upper hand when needed. I completely love the camaraderie between Heath, Ryker, and Denver along with the Gray Brothers (Sin Bros series) who all have cameos in this series.
Anya Best is a criminal psychologist, whose sister, an FBI agent has become the latest victim of the serial killer that Heath and his brothers Ryker and Denver have been trying to catch. Revenge and grief spears Anya into setting herself up as bait for the killer and, inadvertently involves Heath in her plan by making him her fake fiancé.
Heath’s weakness for protecting women has put him and his brothers in a dangerous position, the brothers still have old enemies out to get them and as Anya and Heath's relationship starts out on false pretenses but there is no denying the chemistry they have. Now Heath finds himself having to make some very difficult decisions that could also affect his brothers and place them all in danger.
Lethal Lies is filled with action, suspense, danger, and a sexy new romance. We have super soldiers, evil Dr. Madison, and the vile vengeance seeking Sheriff Cobb who are all after the brothers and pose a very real threat to all the brothers, including the Gray Brothers. I enjoyed this installment in the series but must admit that the book did lag in some places. That said, I cannot wait to get my hands on Denver's story, which is coming up next in Twisted Truths.

Lethal Lies is book 2 of Zanetti’s Blood Brothers Series, a spin-off of the popular Sin Brothers series. Both series feature men who are genetically altered to produce super-soldiers, but who have managed to escape the control of mad scientist Dr. Isobel Madison (who will stop at nothing to get them back in her lab) and the sadistic Sheriff Cobb (who wants them dead for killing his brother). This is a continuing plot line arc that spans both series and thus I highly recommend reading both series in order.
Ryker, Heath, and Denver, the Blood Brothers, have formed the Lost Bastards Investigative Services. Heath Jones meets Anya Best, professor of criminal psychology, while investigating the disappearance of her sister, Loretta. While intense chemistry sparks between them, Heath knows a white picket fence and hea is not in his future so while he vows to protect her with his life, he knows their relationship must end when the case is solved. Heath is all alpha male, but his tender-heartedness often leads his head - drawing him into trouble. When he sees Anya as the damsel-in-distress, he’s a goner.
Anya is reeling from the loss of her sister and has vowed to revenge her loss by tracking down the Copper Killer. Though she barely knows Heath, she finds herself attracted to him and in a split-second decision, she offers herself up as bait to the killer while unwittingly revealing Heath’s name and location to national media - thus placing the Blood Brothers back on the mad scientist’s radar. While these guys are lethal, bad*ss fighters, their fear of being returned to the hell of their past life is real. As the story unfolds, it’s a race against time to catch the killer before they themselves are caught and returned to the lab.
Lethal Lies is high octane, pedal-to-the-metal action from cover to cover. A strong support cast fleshes out the story, helping carry the suspense and romance elements to the shocking reveal of the killer in the end. An underlying theme of family and the fact that it isn’t always genetic is nicely woven throughout both series. While I felt some personal baggage between Heath and Anya was strung out a bit too long before resolution, I still found myself cheering them on! Really great job on the set-up of Denver’s story in the next book! Can’t wait! A Must Read!

If there is such a term as blockbuster for the book world then Lethal Lies should be classified as one. It packs thrilling action, gripping suspense, and sexy romance brought together by fantastic writing, great characterization and a plot that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Professor in criminal psychology Anya Best wants to avenge her sister’s death. To the catch the serial killer who had originally targeted her but in sad twist of fate took her sister and murdered her, Anya’s going to have to outsmart him, lure him into making a mistake by putting herself as bait all while trying to not fall in love with the lethal and dangerous man she hoodwinked into pretending to be her fiancée.
This time the Lost Bastards detective agency is going to get its man. Led by Heath Jones, he and his two brothers are on a mission to find the Copper Killer whose latest victim was an FBI agent they’d previously worked with. But when the agent’s younger sister Anya puts a huge spotlight on herself and Heath, the brothers know they’ll soon be fighting against Dr. Isobel Maddison and the sadistic Sheriff Cobb as well.
A doozy of a race against a deranged killer and escaping their past ensues, resulting in a lot of pretend kisses between Heath and Anya that soon start feeling very real. With plot twists I never saw coming, I loved rolling with the nonstop action, suspense and sexiness. Lethal Lies in an amazing add to the series.
Being this a Sin Brother’s spin off the story wouldn’t be complete without a cameo by at least a couple of the Gray brothers. Yes, I know, there are a lot of brothers, but they’re all wonderful heroes with shells reinforced by horrific childhoods but with a core so deliciously caring, loyal, protective and loving you can’t help but fall in love with them. I equally anticipate, because doh! its Denver’s book! and dread it because it’ll be the last in the series.
Lethal Lies is book #2 in the Blood Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti. It is a standalone romantic suspense lovers with enjoy. Told from both points of view.

This time the Lost Bastards detective agency is going to get its man. Led by Heath Jones, he and his two brothers are on a mission to find the Copper Killer whose latest victim was an FBI agent they’d previously worked with. But when the agent’s younger sister Anya puts a huge spotlight on herself and Heath, the brothers know they’ll soon be fighting against Dr. Isobel Maddison and the sadistic Sheriff Cobb as well.
A doozy of a race against a deranged killer and escaping their past ensues, resulting in a lot of pretend kisses between Heath and Anya that soon start feeling very real. With plot twists I never saw coming, I loved rolling with the nonstop action, suspense and sexiness. Lethal Lies in an amazing add to the series.
Being this a Sin Brother’s spin off the story wouldn’t be complete without a cameo by at least a couple of the Gray brothers. Yes, I know, there are a lot of brothers, but they’re all wonderful heroes with shells reinforced by horrific childhoods but with a core so deliciously caring, loyal, protective and loving you can’t help but fall in love with them. I equally anticipate, because doh! its Denver’s book! and dread it because it’ll be the last in the series.
Lethal Lies is book #2 in the Blood Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti. It is a standalone romantic suspense lovers with enjoy. Told from both points of view.

Heath and his blood brothers are still on the run and fighting their past. However, when he meets Anya, the danger of entanglements might be too hard for him to fight.
Anya decides that fighting back against the serial killer playing with her is better than watching others die around her. When she announces on live tv that her and Heath are engaged, she knows the danger she is putting herself in, but she never could have imagined the greatest danger was to her heart.
There was no mercy when monsters harmed women.
Book two in the Blood Brothers series reunites us with the Lost Boys. This time it is Heath who is the hero and with a mother who was killed by an abusive boyfriend, he has a big time trigger for men who hurt women. When he sees Anya with bruises, no matter of the innocent reasoning, and finds out that the Copper Killer serial killer is after her, he instantly goes into protector mode. This past hurt and resulting trigger for Heath, while emotional, was a bit overplayed and repetitive. The numerous times he saw red or freaked out made him seem less strong protector and more auto-pilot brainless alpha. The story didn't flush out his personality enough for me, he seemed like he only had two depths, alpha protector and hot for Anya. I did enjoy the scenes where Heath and the brothers interacted but I missed other personality nuances.
She studied him, her eyes darkening. Finally, one corner of her mouth quirked. "You're a beneath the surface kind of guy, aren't you?"
I kind of had the same problem with Anya, she had the hots for Heath (while kind of sorta but not being afraid of him) and wanted to be in charge of capturing the Copper Killer. At times she seemed brave and others she seemed needlessly talking big game while blindingly doing nothing. I also thought the emotion of losing her sister and fighting her attraction to Heath felt off, would she be fighting sexual thoughts the night of her sister's funeral? I think, ultimately, the uneven feelings I had with the lead characters came from the meandering feel from the story.
The beginning of the story gets going right away, with the back story and a continuing story thread I wouldn't recommend this as a standalone, but it also felt a bit choppy. It eventually smooths out as we are re-introduced to the handful of cast of characters that include Heath's brothers and the villains. Dr. Madison, who created the brothers (also the tie-in to the author's previous series Sin Brothers), Sheriff Cobb who works for Dr. Madison but also has a personal vendetta against the brothers, and Daniel, a soldier still working for Dr. Madison. The Dr. Madison and super soldier secret military program is intriguing, interesting and what I found captured my attention the most. As it is the continuing story thread, there is no resolution here but you can feel things building up in a crescendo.
Mostly, I found this book to be a slow moving, repetitive layover in the series. Heath and Anya have a bit of insta-love, the must protect Anya but Anya demanding to be in charge, bickering with FBI, and forced serial killer tie-in went in circles for too long. The next book is about the last Blood Brother, Denver. I'm hoping for more of the action, chemistry, and movement in the interesting super soldier program that appeared in the first.

And Rebecca Zanetti Slays Again!
Rebecca Zanetti is a master of weaving thrilling stories full of suspense, romance and mystery. When you begin her books, be prepared to get caught up in a sexy romantic suspense with an incredibly developed storyline. She is an auto-buy for me because her books have everything I love, family, romance, suspense, mystery, and most importantly, a happy ending. My favorite thing in her stories is the unshakable bond of family loyalty. It is really the glue that makes the characters lovable. They have this all for one, one for all attitude that is so endearing.
Book 2 in the explosive Blood Brother series, was no exception. Remember, this series is the spin-off from the Sin Brother series and contrary to what some say, this series SHOULD be read in order to truly appreciate the character’s journey as well as the underlying plot because the same villains have been plaguing the various main characters.
The prior book, Deadly Silence, introduced a serial killer dubbed the Copper Killer because he hunted red heads and the Lost Bastards Detective Agency (Ryker, Heath and Denver) were on his tail. Also, investigating the case was a profiler, Anya Best, a professor in criminal psychology. The serial killer has been sending her letters showing that he was fixated on her but Anya has no clue who he could be.
Heath Jones was working with FBI agent Loretta Best, Anya’s older sister, who became the killer’s latest victim. So, Heath decided he would protect Anya and avenge Loretta. It was clear the author was setting the stage for this book’s main couple.
I really enjoyed Anya because she was strong, smart and capable. She didn’t let her fear stop her from trying to figure out the killer. It also amused me that she was trying to shrink the Heath because those brothers have so many issues and secrets. Heath is an alpha male with a tender heart. He saves animals for crying out loud. How can you not love a strong, capable man who is so conscious of the pain and suffering of those who are wounded? Heath and Anya worked as a couple because they had this simmering chemistry.
Their relationship was an insta-attraction, not necessarily insta-love because Heath fought himself because of the past monsters (Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb). The danger, intrigue, suspense and being on the run certainly created an atmosphere that would be sexually charged.
Rebecca Zanetti delivered an intense romance with lots of moving parts. If you enjoy series like Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalkers series, you will love this one as well. I can't wait to continue with Book 3, Twisted Truths, which will finally address Denver and Noni’s story.

After finishing my re-read of this first book in this series, I was eager to dive into the second book in the trilogy. I found this to be another entertaining story that hooked me quickly and held my interest until the very end. This is the second book in the Blood Brothers trilogy and I definitely feel that the trilogy should be read in order but I will take it a step further and say that it is really best to have read the Sin Brothers series before starting this trilogy since those characters play a part in the story. I am glad that I finally decided to give this book a try.
There is a killer on the loose and he has Anya in his sights. He has already killed her sister and he is not done. Anya makes a statement that taunts the killer and names Heath as her fiance. Heath and his brothers were hoping to stay hidden instead of being thrust into the spotlight. Heath and Anya join forces and they not only have to outwit the Cooper Killer but they also have to avoid Dr. Madison and her crew. The story had enough action and excitement to keep things moving and my interest level high.
I liked Anya and Heath and wanted to see things work out for them. There were times that Anya seemed rather reckless but I thought that Heath was almost always able to get things on track. I liked them as a couple and thought that the emotion between them felt very genuine. I loved the scenes that featured the rest of the brothers and loved how they are always ready to back each other up.
Karen White did a fantastic job with the narration. I love the various voices that she used for the cast of characters. It was always very easy to determine who was talking. She has a very pleasant voice and I like the way she is able to add just the right about of emotion to her reading. I do believe that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.
I would recommend this book to others. I had a fantastic time with this story and enjoyed seeing all the characters work together as a team. I cannot wait to read the final book in this trilogy.

4.5 "Disguised Love?" Stars!
Lovers of romantic suspense titles will not want to miss the Blood Brothers series. Additionally, for those of you who enjoy PNR or UF titles, there is also a minor overlay of supernatural abilities that surrounds this series as the heroes are all part of a genetic engineering experiment meant to build super soldiers with supernatural senses. However, the suspense is only part of the equation as each story also features one swoon worthy, "blood" brother with alpha protective tendencies towards his heroine.
Please note, however, that these books should be read in order. Rebecca Zanetti's 2nd book in the Blood Brothers Series continues both the suspense arc begun in Book 1 (Deadly Silence) and which takes place over the entire series, plus layers in a second suspense plot that is fully contained with this book. Additionally, we are treated to the romance story of Heath and Anya which is fully contained with this book. Because of the series suspense arc, however, I strongly suggest that you start with Deadly Silence if you have not yet started series, otherwise you might feel like you're missing some of the background information surrounding the hero, particularly at the beginning of the book before the story has a chance to evolve.
Anya Best, a criminal psychologist, has been receiving letters from the Copper Serial Killer. In an aim to find him, before he finds his next victim, she involves her sister (Loretta) an FBI agent. To her horrible surprise, however, the Copper Serial Killer kidnaps her sister before she is able to make any progress on his case.
Fortunately for Anya, however, she's not alone in trying to sleuth who the Copper Serial Killer is as Loretta had been collaborating with Heath, a private detective. Moreover, when Anya finds out the gruesome discovery that the serial killer has made Loretta his next victim, she makes a bold move, ready to stop the killer once and for all. In coming forth with this bold move, she also ties Heath to her efforts by publicly announcing their intended location and stating that they are engaged (a fact she completely makes up in the hopes that it will antagonize the killer and cause him to finally come get her).
Heath has his own share of "family" drama that he is trying to sleuth and put to rest (namely Dr. Isobel Madison who ran the genetic study that created him and his "brothers" and Sheriff Cobb who is her psychopathic ally). However, he is determined to help Anya and then disappear in order to avoid entangling her in his very dangerous situation as he knows that Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb will stop at nothing to continue producing their superhuman army which they intend to use for malicious, self power propagating purposes.
However, working together will not be easy. Putting aside their natural attraction (an attraction which Heath doesn't plan to ignore but Anya resists), he also refuses to share with Anya his precarious situation. Anya meanwhile insists on figuring out what he is hiding. Additionally, helping Anya given her public declaration potentially leaves them both vulnerable. In Anya's case she is left exposed to the Serial Killer and in his and his brothers case, their location is potentially now discoverable by Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb who they have been hiding from. However, given his background, especially how his mother died, Heath has very real issues with leaving a woman "defenseless." So notwithstanding the danger to himself and his brothers, his alpha protective tendencies, prohibit him from leaving Anya by herself to find the serial killer. He would feel better, however, if Anya would go to a safe location while he and his brothers caught the killer. Anya, however, like most independent heroines, refuses to hide.
So begins the race against time where Anya basically plays bait to lure out the serial killer. Will Heath and his brothers be able to protect her? Moreover, will this very public detective engagement with Anya in the Copper Serial Killer case put Heath's and his brothers' mission in jeopardy?
I enjoyed both the suspense and the romance in this book. Watching the tug and pull between the hero's and heroine's desire for one another but yet, particularly in Heath's case, disbelief that they could ever have more given the looming danger was a big part of this story. However, what I enjoyed the most was the big twist that interconnects both of their situations and leaves them in the end with common goals.
I can't wait to continue with Book 3, Twisted Truths, which I have to assume will contain Denver's and Noni's story!

If like myself you followed this authors Sin Brothers series then this off shoot will be a must read for you. It's fun to see the differences between these genetically modified guys but it's also intruiging just how alike they can be. Suspense is the name of the game here with more than a healthy dose of romance but the author has cunningly woven her story in such a way that she keeps you guessing . Readers who've followed this storyline know full well that there's a reason why Heath and his brothers keep a low profile and it's a very real threat that's never too far away. Yet here we see Heath pulled out into the open and exposed by Anya, a woman determined to find a killer. The so called Copper Killer has hurt Anya in the most truly evil way and she's through being sweet and is ready to do whatever it takes to bring him down even if that means setting herself up as bait !
We actually have a plot within a plot here that twists with a red herring. You won't quite believe how the author has joined the dots as she smoothly blends the past of these characters with the harsh reality of a serial killer on the rampage. It makes for a slow burn story that kept me turning the pages just knowing that when the action came it would be shocking.
Characters? Hmm I did like Heath but he at times felt a little too quick to react and given his childhood there are reasons for his uber protective stance but I was conflicted as to whether he was quite as fleshed out as previous characters. I loved him with his brothers but his intense feelings towards Anya just didn't quite gel for me . Perhaps he just wasn't alpha enough for me ?
Anya seemed like a mixed personality at times. Intelligent, coping with being alone , vengeful and yet I wanted to shake her. If I'd just lost people close to me I'm not sure I'd be moving on so quickly. Her life has been turned upside down and yet she just casts googly eyes at Heath, challenging him at every opportunity. Yes he's big, bad and hot but I just didn't understand her attitude although I freely admit that grief can make people react in the strangest ways.
I'm guessing that you've realised this isn't my favourite book in the series but I can reassure you that the Copper Killer gets caught so the next book is about to go in a whole new direction . Those who work in the shadows are getting ever closer to recapturing their 'soldiers' and yes these total psychos actually enriched this story . So the romance wasn't my favourite but it's fun catching up with the myriad of characters that connect to bring these books to life. Denvers book is up next and I strongly suspect that it's going to be a battle royale and I say bring it on!

We actually have a plot within a plot here that twists with a red herring. You won't quite believe how the author has joined the dots as she smoothly blends the past of these characters with the harsh reality of a serial killer on the rampage. It makes for a slow burn story that kept me turning the pages just knowing that when the action came it would be shocking.
Characters? Hmm I did like Heath but he at times felt a little too quick to react and given his childhood there are reasons for his uber protective stance but I was conflicted as to whether he was quite as fleshed out as previous characters. I loved him with his brothers but his intense feelings towards Anya just didn't quite gel for me . Perhaps he just wasn't alpha enough for me ?
Anya seemed like a mixed personality at times. Intelligent, coping with being alone , vengeful and yet I wanted to shake her. If I'd just lost people close to me I'm not sure I'd be moving on so quickly. Her life has been turned upside down and yet she just casts googly eyes at Heath, challenging him at every opportunity. Yes he's big, bad and hot but I just didn't understand her attitude although I freely admit that grief can make people react in the strangest ways.

At 25% in I have decided to ditch the audio narrated by Karen White. Way too much angst and very little variation - it's all angst all the time. Too much for me. I've decided to let Alexa read this book to me. I am real close to DNFing this book and moving on to the last book in the trilogy. I would really like to see the baddies get their due, but I may just ditch to series altogether. If you skim read from 25% to about 80% then pick it up to read you will get the great ending. I've got to say that the identify Copper Killer eluded me completely and the end was worth reading the last 20% of an otherwise loosey book.
The Lost Boys escaped the clutches of Sherriff Cobb and Dr. Madison when they were young teens and have eluded them since. They formed a detective agency and have done quite well, even while on the run. They were contacted by the family of a Copper Killer victim to find her. They were to late but determined to catch him anyway. Which brings us to Heath and Anya.
Anya Best is the real target of the Copper Killer. Everyone else, even her sister. were just substitutes until he decided the game was up and came for her. Heath isn't about to let that happen and is determined to keep her safe and catch this guy. Lots of hot sex and lots of emotional oozing. Of course, the Copper killer gets Anya and Heath saves her. The End. At least until the next book that will, hopefully, be The Real End.

Lethal Lies is the second book in the Blood Brothers series and we get a chance to continue on with our boys and their upcoming adventure and this book was a whopper. Rebecca Zanetti knows how to write her suspense and this book kept me on edge at times. Especially in scenes that we see from the perspective of the villain. And I really admire that in an author, is to see the evil workings and plans up ahead and see how our heroes/heroines conquer in the end.
Lethal Lies begins with our heroine, Anya, who is being stalked and when she reconnects with her sister who works for the FBI, her sister wants to help her out find out who is hunting her and our villain here is on a murder spree with multiple women who look like Anya and he is becoming more bold. After Anya learns that her sister is taken by him and murdered, she refuses to stand on the sidelines any more, and dares him on television and boldly declares Heath Jones as her fiancee. Even though there is a connection between Heath and Anya, at first their relationship begins with just a fake engagement. But as Anya and Heath work together to draw the villain into a trap.....their villain turns into something much closer to home than they realize
Lethal Lies was a kickass of a read and boy this book definitely kept me on edge. Now, at least for me personally, it didn't feel quite as much of a page turner as the first book was, but it was such a solid story and I really fell for Heath and Anya. And of course, we get the whole group with our brothers. And we such more depths to them even more in this book and I really liked seeing how much they support each other through everything. I love how close knit these men are to each other. These brotherly bonds is so touching at times and seriously the "picking out the rings" moment just had me laughing and in tears at the same time. Zanetti certainly knows how to work my emotions so well.
This is a story and a trilogy you NEED to read in order, just to get everything that is building up especially with the evil plans of our villains. And boy the ending when we find out who the stalker is, he is one crazy man and we haven't seen the last of him. This story just pulls you into this intense filled world. The romance that builds between Heath and Anya is fierce and passionate as their is a high level of sexual tension, but such sweet poignant moments.
Overall I found Lethal Lies to be a stunning addition to this trilogy and its portrayal was so vivid and such stimulating plot that will leave you breathless and eager for the finale.

4.5 thrilling and romantic stars!
Fast-paced, action-packed mystery/suspense story that is sexy, romantic and lots of fun, and wow, did it get my heart pumping! This series is a spin off to the Sin Brothers books, and is shaping up to be just as intense as the originals, and I’m loving the ride!
Heath Jones is one of a trio of ‘blood brothers’ who were genetically modified by a maniacal scientist for the purposes of creating ‘super soldiers’. Raised in a group home, the boys were ‘studied’ and tormented, but became closer than family and swore their lives to protect each other. They escaped as teenagers and have put their skills to use by creating an investigative agency – finding the lost and searching for the answers to their pasts all while remaining on the run and in hiding from the villainous scientist and her partner, a sheriff crazed with revenge.
Anya is a professor of criminal psychology, but her profession hits too close to home when she finds herself the target of a serial killer. When her FBI agent sister is taken and murdered by the Copper Killer, it sparks her into forcing some action, and she provokes the killer on national television, placing herself as bait to draw him out and dragging Heath into the picture.
By declaring them a couple to the world, Anya forces herself and Heath into a fake relationship, but also puts Heath and his brothers out into the open. And not only that, she makes herself a target for more than just the killer, with bad guys from the brothers’ past also hunting to bring the boys in, and Anya may be their key. It’s all happening, and it’s fantastically woven together as Heath and his brothers work to protect Anya, hunt for the killer and evade their enemies… all the while an amazing romance is unfolding.
Heath and Anya’s attraction is evident from the very beginning, and neither of them hide it. They acknowledge it, they talk about it, and when the sexual tension all becomes too much, they act on it. And hot damn! Rebecca Zanetti writes wonderfully steamy romance and the chemistry between Anya and Heath is palpable, and the sexy time is absolutely steamy! And best of all, they are open about what they want, and about what they are capable of, and I loved how functional they are!
Every day they fall harder and harder for each other, and they both know that it’s happening, but Heath is determined to protect Anya by keeping his secrets, while she is determined to get him to completely open up to her. There are things that they need to sort through and work at, but there’s no stupid behaviour and game playing, and it works really well with the intensity of their situation as danger closes in from all angles.
It’s such an exciting ride and I was madly flipping pages with a growing sense of anticipation as I was waiting for something big to happen. The story builds wonderfully to a thrilling climax that is scary, exciting, and full of surprises. The killer makes his move, the boys mobilise, the Grey brothers are on board to help, and Anya proves what a badass she is. And my heart was pounding as it all played out.
Adding to the awesome is the dynamics between the Jones brothers. These boys would do absolutely anything for each other, and that shows over and over again. They tease and joke, which is great fun, and their protectiveness of each other is gorgeous to see. I loved catching up with Ryker and Zara from the first book, and really enjoyed the tie in with the Grey brothers from the Sin Brothers series.
I loved this book. It’s a wonderfully intense romantic suspense, and a great addition to the Blood Brothers series, while adding more depth to the world of the Sin Brothers series. It’s everything that I love about Rebecca Zanetti’s writing – exciting, engaging, intriguing and passionately romantic. I know I’m always in for a great ride when I pick up one of her books, and this one was no exception. And with hints dropped for Denver’s story, I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Heath’s protective instincts have been high since he was a child trying to protect his drug addicted mum from the world and abd men she chose, he was too young to save her but that drive to protect has remained strong. A serial killer is infatuated with psychologist and college Professor Anya Best, and has been killing women who have failed to live up to his image of her, after she , Anya decides to use herself as bait, using the media to taunt the killer.
Anya, mourning and trying to stay ahead of a serial killer, also has to deal with an idiotic ex-boyfriend who couldn’t keep his pants on with a student, and fails to understand the various ways in which she tells him to clearly bugger off.
There were some nice moments in this, and there was something endearing about Heath. However, whilst I love a protective alpha hero, sometimes it felt like Heath’s protective instincts were blinding him to how strong Anya was, and he didn’t always entirely see her as he should. I loved Anya’s feistiness once she was captured by the Copper killer.
Sheriff Cobbs remains a revolting twisted ass in this, and I am really hoping both he and Dr Isobel Madison get their just desserts soon! I was slightly bummed by the fact we don’t really see much progression in this book, when it came to these two characters. They seriously need to get their asses kicked until the end of time and then some, I know
The banter between the brothers remains fun and like in book 1 it had me smiling and engaged. As with the first book, there are two stories playing out in this book – the bigger one concerning Heath and his brother’s past and Heath and Anya attempting to take down the Copper Killer.
This was a nice one time read, although unlike book one I didn’t find myself loosing track of time as I read.

If you ever watched the movie, The Fast and Furious, you know that those cars are stripped down to the bare essentials and then loaded up with nitro to give the vehicle an extra boost. This is how I feel about Rebecca Zanetti’s latest romantic suspense, Lethal Lies, book 2 in the Blood Brothers series. From the first chapter, I declare that I am “all in” for this book. This story is streamlined to fuel the pace, amp the drama, and let the romance burn hot.
To bring you up to speed: Blood Brothers is a spinoff series from the author’s popular Sin Brothers books. These seven men are genetically engineered to be the ultimate soldier with enhanced abilities and specialized training. The Sin Brothers meet and are raised in a highly secret training facility. Each step of their evolution is monitored and noted for research. The three Jones brothers, aka Blood Brothers, meet in a boys’ home after being orphaned. These men are not necessarily genetically related (although we find out that Shane and Heath are from the same genetic line) but forge a brotherhood by the blood they shed. They also have one other thing in common – Dr. Isobel Madison. She is the scientific mastermind behind these engineered men. Both sets of brothers escape Dr. Madison’s madhouse lab. The Jones brothers set up shop in Washington. Their Lost Bastards Investigative Services is in hot pursuit of the Copper Killer. This is a carryover story from the first book, Deadly Silence. The search for the serial killer is the central storyline in which our couple, Heath Jones and Anya Best, meet.
Anya loses her FBI Agent sister, Loretta, to the Copper Killer. He takes red-headed women who are related to law enforcement officers. Trying to solve the case on her own, Loretta falls prey. Anya in her grief and desolation is determined to find the killer herself. She is joined by Heath Jones, who has worked with Loretta on this case in the recent past. As the net closes on the serial killer, Anya and Heath must negotiate the feelings for one another and decide whether they can overcome their personal obstacles to be together.
When I say that this story is stripped down to the essentials, I mean that there is rawness of emotions that lives on the surface. With Loretta’s death, Anya is now an orphan and although Loretta was her half-sister, Anya always had a connection with her. She is mourning her death and feeling guilty because she put this killer on Loretta’s radar. Heath is the middle Jones brother. As a young boy, he watched his mother die at the hands of another bad boyfriend. He carries the guilt of not being able to help her. As an adult, it is easy to feel his overwhelming sense of protectiveness for the weak and abused. When it is revealed that the Copper Killer is fixated on Anya, her situation hits all his trigger points. In her words, he is “dark, deadly and sexy as hell.”
Often with romantic suspense, I find myself measuring the strength of the romance against the suspense elements. There should be a good balance of both. Characters are in highly stressful situations and it is easy to fall into adrenaline-fueled lust. Tah-dah, insta-love reigns. But does the couple have what it takes to successfully navigate a relationship for the long run? What draws the couple together? With overprotective alphas like Heath, many times they do not feel worthy of a deep, meaningful relationship and frankly, they do not have the lifestyle for it. So there has to be something compelling about the heroine to make the hero pause and reevaluate his life. This author does a fine job integrating all those elements. Anya is kind, giving, smart, and has plenty of moxie. She throws caution to the wind and takes a chance on this enigma, Heath Jones. She is the yin to his yang.
If you are not a fan of long, dragged out mysteries, do not fear. The storyline with the serial killer that began in Deadly Silence is completed in Lethal Lies. However, not all the questions are answered and there is still the menace of Dr. Isobel Madison. We are also introduced to her super, super-soldier, Daniel. He oozes danger and peril. He is surely a character to note for future books. Undoubtedly, we have lots of good reading ahead in the Blood Brothers series.

Genetically enhanced brothers with a revenged-minded sadistic sheriff and a psycho scientist on their tail going after a serial killer at the side of a victim's sister. Love the author and the premise of the series so I dove right in for the action-packed romantic suspense.
Lethal Lies is book two in the Blood Brothers' series which happens to be a spin-off of the Sins Brothers series. This one could be read out of order or standalone with the caveat that the reader is okay knowing its part of an on-going series. But my advice? Go back and start with the Sins Brothers and keep right on moving forward for all the fab stories.
So, Lethal Lies is Heath's book. It follows on the heels of Ryker's story and picks up with one of the secondary story lines in the previous book when Heath was called in to work with Feds and locals to track down a serial killer. So here's the thing. I enjoyed the overall story because I love these growly alpha male brothers that the author writes and their story of beating their atrocious pasts and trying to move on with Dr. Madison and the sheriff on their tail. But, the heroine on the other hand... I wasn't a fan. Anya, the heroine has spunk, but yeah... that's about all I admire about her. My jaw dropped when she threw Heath, nearly a stranger, into the path of a serial killer to get revenge for her sister's murder (and the revenge is mostly because Anya feels guilt). Then each time he preaches common sense and safety at her she emotionally blackmails him into letting her continue to dangle them as bait. Even after she finds out bad people are coming after Heath and his family, she still insists. She tells him to leave her and run, but come on, she had to know he wasn't going to let her get herself tortured and killed by a serial killer if he let her lie to the media about their relationship stand and helped her stand up to the FBI who wanted to put her in protective custody. I just... no, selfish. Couldn't care if she got into trouble and didn't care about the romance.
But, the ongoing story of the brothers staying ahead of the sheriff and the doctor and engaging with other genetically enhanced super soldiers that belonged to the doctor? That was great stuff. Things are coming to an exciting head as the third brother gets his story next.
Even though this one wasn't a favorite though still not bad, I still love the series and recommend it to romantic suspense fans who loved fast action and alpha heroes.

Lethal Lies is book two in the Blood Brothers' series which happens to be a spin-off of the Sins Brothers series. This one could be read out of order or standalone with the caveat that the reader is okay knowing its part of an on-going series. But my advice? Go back and start with the Sins Brothers and keep right on moving forward for all the fab stories.

A Good Book
A good book, not great
In general, I enjoyed “Lethal Lies” (Blood Brothers Bk 2) by Rebecca Zanetti. Continuing from book 1, it is reuniting us with the Lost Boys. Heath and his brothers are still running and fighting their ghosts their past.
A girl Heath meets, Anya, decides to fight a serial killer who is teasing her. No only did she want involvement with the killer but she is aggressive enough to make an engagement announcement on television hoping to make the killer angry but it winds up putting her in danger.
Having read some of the other books I didn’t need much personality development but as a first time reader to the series, I would have been confused.
The plot starts off quickly; gets a bit confusing in the middle which is largely sexual and ends strong but not to a conclusion but things seem to be building up in a solution. In other words, the book does not stand well on its own. .
I give a mild recommendation.

The second book in the Blood Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti. Anya Best is the sister of FBI SA Loretta Jackson, who goes missing in the previous book. She hooks up with Private Investigator, Heath Jones, in hopes of finding her sister before the serial killer kills her.
This series is related to another series by Ms. Zanetti, Sin Brothers. More hots guys that were genetically modified and running from the baddies that created them. Love both series.

This continues the overall story arc from Deadly Silence involving the hunt for a serial killer as well as the brothers' past coming for them.
Heath Jones is a PI working with his adopted brothers. They have been working this serial killer case along with the FBI and Heath has become nearly obsessed with it and each loss. Heath is usually the calmer and in control brother. He's always been a savior and protector. But it seems they are one step behind this killer.
Anya Best is the target. She has lost everyone she cares about and feels guilty about the fact that her sister paid the price. She is a professor of psychology and profiler so she does have some important skills. In a bold move, Anya decides to publicly taunt the killer and ends up pulling Heath right in even deeper and putting a bigger target on both of their backs.
Anya is not just beautiful, intelligent, and fragile. She has an inner strength, determination, sense of justice, and bravery about her. All characteristics that send Heath's instincts and attraction into overdrive. She brings out his protective, possessive, and passionate tendencies and breaks down his control. She is determined to put herself as bait, while Heath and his brothers are determined to keep her safe. Heath has his secrets and is also dealing with threats from his past that won't seem to stop coming for them. And with the media attention surrounding them, it is sending a beacon to their enemies. She is determined to get him to trust her and share the truth. I liked them together and how they challenged each other.
They are working in gray areas and not exactly following the letter of the law or fully assisting the government agencies placing them under some suspicion. They have to be careful about what information is shared and who they can trust. There are multiple antagonists and threats with various motives. There is a big build up to the mystery of the identity of the serial killer and what his/her motivations are. So there is an increase in mystery, tension, emotional connection, danger, and action.
Heath and Anya have hot chemistry. She pushes and challenges him. But he just feels he needs to keep her safe and that he is not a good bet. He tries hard not to lose control with her, but she enjoys pushing his buttons. And a man can only resist so much. She's bold and fearless. He's strong and determined. Their situation seems bleak at times, and hope and keeping their wits bout them is all they can do to prepare.
I enjoy this world that Rebecca Zanetti created with the Sin Brothers and continued in this spin-off series. I liked getting more with Ryker, Zara, Denver, and the small cameos from the Gray brothers. I love their camaraderie, dynamics, and dedication to one another. There are plenty of dangerous enemies and psychos to hate. There are multiple threats and some surpises.
I will admit that at times this one seemed slow paced and long. Not sure if it was because of the gradual build and slow burn...or the fact this one focused more on the serial killer story than the first book and maybe since that is not my favorite story line it just made it seem that way. One story arc is concluded sufficiently, but one is still definitely ongoing. And that threat is not just coming from one source. Overall it was a slower-build mystery and romantic suspense story with some twists and turns.
Denver's story has been teased and I am looking forward to him hopefully reuniting with his lost love. And I am sure danger and drama will follow.

I give Lethal Lies by Rebecca Zanetti 4.5 out of 5 stars gladly rounded up to 5 stars. I really enjoyed this book and I will definitely be looking for more from Rebecca Zanetti.
I read this book without reading book one of the series. It can easily be read as a stand alone novel, but I did notice a few places where it would have been nice to have read the first book, but it wasn't necessary.
Heath is a genetically enhanced man who is a member of the Blood Brothers (also genetically enhanced). Heath and his brothers work as private detectives, but they don't have a permanent base of employment because they are running from their past. Heath has issues with the strong hurting the weak, particularly with men who hurt women. When Heath falls for Anya his life on the run becomes more complex. He tries to hide his feelings for Anya. As a character he is written to be a tough guy. He is determined, patient, and strong. When it comes to his brother and Anya he is loyal, passionate, and in the end honest (although it takes him a while to get to the honesty part.)
Anya is the subject of a serial killers obsession. She is brave and strong when she calls out the serial killer and challenges him. She falls for Heath almost instantly but she refuses to give up her control over her own life. The FBI, Heath, and Anya can't seem to agree on how to proceed.
To complicate matters the people Heath is running from, the people from his past have found him. They are intrigued by his situation, but they don't care who their actions hurt. They are coming for Heath and his brothers.

This book focuses on Heath Jones (one of the three Blood Brothers) and Criminal Psychologist Anya Best (the sister of FBI agent Loretta from book one). Hot romance and great action and suspense, this story kept me captivated from start to finish and what an ending! I’m very much looking forward to Blood Brother Denver’s story!

I usually love Zanetti's romantic suspense books but this installment left me somewhat disappointed. It was slower paced, with is rare for this author. Some the policy/events for law enforcement was blatantly incorrect. (I try not to be petty, but it just didn't seem well researched or realistic; it was a distraction.) I never really bought into the chemistry between Heath and Anya either; it felt forced. I continue to adore the brothers and their complicated pasts.
Despite my lukewarm feelings, I am still invested in this cast of super soldiers and diabolical villains. I look forward to Denver's book and hope my adoration for this world returns in full.

If you thought you liked the Sin Brothers series or even if you thought it was just ok..... You will be blown away by this spin off! Intrigue, suspense, friendship, s3x, evil masterminds and family. All this in a page turner of a book by Rebecca Zanetti. Loved it!
Heath and his brothers run the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency. Trying to stay under the radar. Trying to find the Dr. that created them and the Sheriff who wants his revenge before they find the brothers. Meanwhile, Heath is caught up in finding the Copper killer before he strikes again. Anya's sister had been working the case and turns up missing. She turns to Heath for help and unwittingly puts him in the spotlight. The race is on to see who will find who first.
The first book was good but this one was fantastic! Loved catching up with Riker and Zara. Really looking forward to book 3 as we get a sneak peek into what has Denver all tied up in knots. Here's hoping the good Doctor finally finds her demise!

Heath Jones, a private investigator with the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency, has been working a case involving the Cooper Killer. Anya Best crosses paths with Heath when thugs claiming to be Marshalls show up on her sister's doorstep. Heath ends up saving her, but also revealing that her sister has been taken by the Cooper Killer. When her sister ends up dead, she taunts the killer and exposes Heath. Now he and his brothers are in danger, but that won't stop him from protecting her.
Dark, gritty and intense Zanetti wove a tale that will hook the reader. Both Heath and Anya have baggage but are drawn to each other. I loved how stubborn they both were. She to catch the killer, and him to protect her. Both are smart, strong, and determined. It was interesting watching them butt heads and begin to work together.
I struggled a little with the romantic connection. It wasn't an earth moving romance filled with swoons, but as the author peeled back their layers I felt myself rooting for their happily ever after. I expect instalove in this genre, but feel Zanetti failed to make me swallow the little blue pill and believe. I loved that despite Heath being a bit of a knucklehead we avoided a lot of unnecessary drama.
