Most things in life come with a dark side. For years, the online space has acted as a playground for thieves, bandits and murky types who will use every trick in the book to make you do the opposite of what you set out to do. But there is hope. The next generation in user experience is coming. Small websites are not the only ones tempted by the dark forces. Many of the world’s largest brands make use of dark patterns - some do so because of ignorance, while others lack the courage to admit their wrong doings. White Hat UX focuses on creating unique user experiences without a dark side. Leave the dark side and read the book. It is filled with inspiration to free yourself from the dark forces and join the next generation in user experience – White Hat UX.
This book does a good job at introducing the core concepts in a way that people of all levels of UX background can understand. This book would be good for any person looking to positively improve their consumer's experience or work directly work with someone who's goal should be.
Nice and short book to enjoy UX concepts you may not be aware of. Useful examples of real cases in which you see clearly the concepts the book tries to reflect about. Clean and beautiful, although I wasn't that readable from a mobile device using Amazon Kindle app.
In an age of fake news and internet scams there are few things as important as calling people out on their bad behavior. Strike that. There are few things as important as showing people how to do things right. That's what this book does. It is a must read for anyone who is interested in expanding their brand to the digital realm. It is an important read for anyone who is designing a digital experience for a client. We designers have to be serious about ethics and about serving the user first and foremost, even if our client thinks it's OK to bend the rules and swindle their customers. This book is about taking the high road. See you there! :)
