Love doesn’t matter. Romance doesn’t exist.

In the year 2060, sex is a game of extremes. No desire is unexplored and even the unimaginable is possible.

Alexa Mathis, head of the monolithic O Corporation, has found a prodigy she believes will drive her sex empire to rapturous new limits: Chloe Shaw, a common girl with uncanny gifts that make her a powerful escort.

Chloe doesn’t believe in love. She believes in ecstasy, and her employer’s newest tool to usher “the future of sex”: an intelligent network known as The Beam.

And so it is until she meets Andrew … and the whole world changes.

The Future of Sex is a 12-part romance/sci-fi series exploring the line between today’s conception of love and the sensations that await us in the future.

I love to write stories with characters that feel real enough to friend on Facebook, or slap across the face. I write to make you feel, think, and burn with the thrill that can only come from getting lost in the pages. I love to write unforgettable characters who wrestle with life's largest problems. My books may always end with a Happily Ever After, but there will always be drama on the way there.

Kindle freebie (at least today 8/14/15), Amazon US.

For an erotica freebie, this one was pretty good. It's only a novella and ends a little abruptly but the story about a futuristic society and a sex worker trying out for a better position was kind of interesting. Weird that she was so perfect at everything but maybe that's explained somewhere in the future . . . I don't like reading this "part 1" installment type nonsense, finish your book already and release it when it's done, I'm too lazy to chase down sequels, so a 3 1/2 it is.

And, yeah. I'm miffed because the other two books are not available anywhere apparently. WTH? Now I'll never know what delights the future of sex have in store for mortals.

Now this was interesting...
I admit I was thinking it would be filled with trashy porn. Nope. It was tasteful and yet still had you feeling like if you got caught reading it, you would blush and try to hide it. I might look into reading the next book.

We’ll start with the most important piece of information pertaining to my review of this: The Future of Sex does not reflect my usual kind of read. In fact, this book couldn’t be any more distant from my kind of read if I had tried.

So why did I read it?

I was trying to branch out. I’m always trying to branch out. In all honesty, I’ve always been unsure about erotica books. A part of me is a massive prude screaming ‘stay away from the dirty’ whilst another part of me is some kind of maniac telling me to jump right in. So to pacify both parts of me whilst disappointing both, I decided to give The Future of Sex a try when I saw it on NetGalley. It is an extremely short story and part of a series – meaning if I did enjoy it I could go on to read the rest yet if I didn’t enjoy it I would not be wasting days of my life forcing myself to carry on reading.

Unfortunately, I will not be going on to read the rest.

I’m unsure as to whether this book reflects the genre or not, but for me I simply did not enjoy it. Whilst I have not picked a book up labelled erotica before that does not mean I avoid all books with sex in. There are many books on my read shelf in which you can find highly detailed sex scenes that will leave the easily embarrassed blushing. Yet this one… I don’t know. It made me cringe. I was hoping nobody was reading it over my shoulder as I sat reading it. I think for me, the problem was, what felt like, the excessive talk of bodily fluid. I understand some mention of bodily fluid but for me a line was crossed. It simply made me feel uncomfortable.

Plus, again this could be because I’m not a fan of the genre, I felt as though the actual story was substituted for chapters on sex. It literally went chapter of conversation, chapter of sex, chapter of conversation, chapter of sex, and so on. I wanted to know more about the story. I understand sex plays a vital role – hence the title of the book – but I wanted the story to progress as well. I felt as though when the story was being told it took a backseat.

I think part of this issue is that when I found the book on NetGalley I did not realise it was set in a dystopian world from another novel. I was hoping for some amazing world building only to be given nothing. Perhaps had such not been the case – maybe if I’d read the book containing the world this one was set in – I would have been more content, yet with any kind of dystopian novel I like to know a little bit about the world we’re reading about.

Still, it was a quick read and I’m glad I gave it a try. It was something different. That being said, however, it did feel more like a sampler than an actual first part of a series. It was the kind of thing I’d expect to find on Amazon when I’m being given a book preview: just enough to get the story going but not enough to give away any real details.

Maybe things get better the more you read of the series, but I am not going to find out as this really wasn’t for me.

Finally, I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the chance to step outside of my comfort zone and give this a try.

New to me author, Lexi Maxwell hooks me in and I'm jonsing for another hit. This story appears to be a serial format which I loathe. Still, I loved this portion and it kind of blew my mind. First off, I liked the world created here. It's futuristic, capitalistic and hedonistic. I particular enjoy the cyberpunk flavour. Second, Chloe Shaw is a character who is deceiving at first sight. Both the reader and characters in the book will discount her and that is our mistake.

The character development in this book is light. What is explored deeply is Chloe's sexual aptitude. This is pretty impressive and I'm completely enamoured. I want to learn more. Each sexual test she is given, she completely scores off the charts. It defies logic and this is the plot device which makes me wonder what is going to happen next. All too soon, this story ends. I rail against the cliffhanger and want to read the follow up parts. Will they be as powerfully erotic as this first introduction?

Let's not mince words here. This book is about sex. Sex and how it may be in the future. It's decadent to the point of making sex a common good. Sex is so common the interest in the norm and even a bit of kink is too boring for most. The essence of this future world is captured in this one sentence.

"People will always pay for better experiences when those experiences make them harder or wetter." (loc. 119-120)

I fully agree. To some extent, sex needs to be harder and kinkier for those who need that dopamine rush. For me, my kinky tastes require a lot more to get me wetter than even just three years ago. With this pattern in mind, the O corporation run by six individuals are constantly innovating and pushing the boundaries on sexual stimulation. Just the possibilities this story opens up makes me excited and wish I could be a test subject. It definitely appeals to the inner geek in me.

The sex in this book is right up my alley. I enjoyed the submission and the dominance. It's interesting to see Chloe perform as an intuitive switch. It's almost like she's really a service top. She doesn't really bottom in any of the scenes. The way the body language is described in this book as well as how Chloe reads it is impressive. It stimulates my brain and just makes me yearn for more. Recommended to geeky kinksters who want to go for a wild ride on the cyber side.

It would be a confusing mistake to experience sex and love together at first — akin to mixing flour and sugar into something she couldn’t separate later. She had to experience sex fresh, without emotional entanglement, so she’d recognize it in its pure state. Chloe had to know sex and love separately, before she could blend them.

Sometimes, we all need a good old piece of erotica to read. After my delicious run-in with The Red, I decided now was the time to experience more. Nothing says fun like, "I need a cold shower" right? The Future of Sex by Aubrey Parker was actually the perfect addition to my Kindle library. Fast, sexy and futuristic. I thought it was very intriguing, the way that Parker mingled with sex and the future.

It wasn't overly flashy. Instead, it was hot and fun and ended far too soon for my taste.

I thought that the entire premise was interesting. The contribution of a new world (it is set in the near future, but the future nonetheless) was a fun twist on what I typically explore in the genre. I want to know more about this society and what path led them to be where they are. I especially loved the fact that the stigma surrounding sex workers was pretty much shattered in their world when compared to ours.

My bigger complaints: the lack of world building. We have the stage set to get an idea what this world is like but for the most part, it's not utilized. That is okay--it's erotica, it's the length of a novella. It still would have been nice to develop more of the world. Similar complaint for the main character. She is very... unique. But, I feel like I've barely come to know her outside of the job she is vying for.

Overall, it was an entertaining read that left me fanning myself multiple times. One of my personal favourite releases in erotica as of late. Will gladly pick up the next books in the series at some point.

The Future of Sex by Lexi Maxxwell is a science fiction erotic novel that pits technology and human emotion against the price for pleasure in the world to come.

The advancement of AI has overtaken this futuristic world and sex has become a virtual video game experience, a place where no pleasure or pain is off limits. It is 2063 and what remains of the civilized world exists only in the North American Union, walled off, and run by a network known as the Crossbrace. The Crossbrace is being enhanced and will soon be replaced by an even more intelligent AI known as the Beam. Within this technology sex becomes a great adventure, enhanced with toys and took and nanobots. All created to further the riches of the O Corporation that uses its sexual advances to further its own. Into this world comes Chloe Shaw. Chloe is young and fairly inexperienced but she has a gift. A gift that all the technology in this new world cannot duplicate. She senses. She seems to know what her clients want even though they seem unable to believe it themselves. Chloe can give them an experience that all the technology in the O Corporation could not. Now the O Corporation must find out how to use her. When to and where. But can they control her? Whos is Chloe Shaw?

I have read several of Lexi Maxxwell's books in the past and though I never thought they were bad, they simply did not offer me anything that was fresh and new in the world of erotic writing. The Future of Sex is new and fresh and exciting and hits on an emotional level that is too often forgotten in today's erotica. Emotion is what makes erotica good, otherwise it becomes stale and sterile and just another contrived sex scene after another and you might as well be ready a textbook in high school sex ed class, only with dirty words.

Emotion; and with the futuristic cold setting of the novel, the emotion that Maxxwell infuses her character with stands out. The emotion and character development in The Future of Sex is what makes this book stand out and has me yearning for more.

A very good read.

I expected this book to be pure porn, but it's not. There's graphic sex scenes in it, of course, but it's not just porn. Most of the book is a technological marvel of the future. Newfangled sex toys, with nanobots. Virtual Reality sex. And an exclusive sex club that hires only the best and brightest whores.

The story is about Chloe Shaw, an inexperienced sex worker who is applying to the prestigious O club. They only allowed her to apply because her mother had been an excellent sex worker for them. So they only expected to see her and then excuse her, because of her inexperience.

But Chloe surprised them. Because, it turns out that she's the Sherlock Holmes of sex workers. Somehow, she knows her partner's deepest, darkest secrets. She knows how to give them the pleasure they've always wanted, but were afraid to ask for.

The O executives were impressed by her first performance, so they set up her next session with the biggest asshole client they had. He was a wealthy man, who always abused the sex workers. But, with Chloe, he was putty in her hands. She insulted him, called him names, and somehow knew about his childhood crush who laughed in his face when he professed his love.

So, Chloe laughed at him. Told him how stupid and ugly he was. Then, ordered him to eat out her pussy with his stupid, ugly face. He obliged, then she ordered him to fuck her silly. Because she NEEDED his stupid, ugly cock. She played the role perfectly, and the man came faster and harder than ever before.

I liked this book, because it was a well written story, that was actually interesting to read. The tech was amazing, and well described. And the characters were vibrant and real. I really couldn't find any fault in this book. I actually enjoyed it.

Originally reviewed on my blog: Books, Coffee, Tea

I’ve seen Lexi Maxxwell’s name a lot since I started reading erotica a few years ago, but I don’t think I’ve ever read one of her books before this one. I came across The Future of Sex while browsing the “Read Now” section on NetGalley a few weeks ago and thought the cover was interesting, so I read the description.

Dystopian-esque setting? Cool. Erotica? Great. Dystopian erotica set in a world in which people are using things like hologram porn and virtual reality to get off? Sign me up!

This was definitely a book different from anything I’ve read, and I did enjoy it. But, it seemed a little too flat for me. I know, I know, a lot of people think all erotica is just sex sex sex. It’s not. Unless it’s a super short, very few pages kind of thing, there’s usually more to it. And there was more to this story than just sex. The problem I have is that it wasn’t fleshed out enough. I need a bit more world building to fully enjoy a sci-fi story like this, erotic or not.

I also didn’t really care at all about any of the characters. There were quite a few introduced in this (approximately) 100 page story, and we really didn’t get enough time with any of them for me to feel anything for them. I didn’t dislike any of them, but I didn’t care if they succeeded, failed, fell off a cliff, etc. I think if I were to continue this series, I might start to like Chloe more. Her character has potential and I almost cared about her.

Overall, this was a fun, short read that I finished in a little over an hour. I found it more amusing than arousing, but I might recommend it. I’m not sure yet if I’ll read the next installment, but I’ll definitely think about it.

The description for this book clearly states it's a cross between science fiction and erotica, but I was expecting a longer book, for one, and more exploration of the corporation-owned alternate future, where money, desire, and technology have collaborated to create possibilities for control of people's lives, for two. The unpleasant nature of such a political climate appealed to me as a reader, and I wondered how something like that might affect people's lives, and how people might fight back against it.

I was looking forward to something more like Continuum (big bad corporations finding ways to exploit the people, and some kind of opposing awareness of it, or rebellion against it). With some exploration of what desire is.

But really, there's none of that. Instead, this novella really only tells the story of a young sex worker prodigy who wants to become an escort. There are about three or four scenes in total, which switch back and forth between the young sex worker applying for the job and the CEOs meeting to discuss her potential for some new, unnamed technology.

It's a story about an interview process for a sex worker in some vaguely future environment where technology has enhanced the variety of ways wealthy people can experience desire. There's no real exploration of the technology, the power of the corporations, or the effects they have on the people. It really didn't feel like science fiction at all.

Overall, I found it disappointing.

Chloe Snow wants to become an elite spa worker, although everything is against her. She’s young and relatively inexperienced, yet she shows enough charm and natural beauty to get an initial interview and an audition. Her results astound the board, yet they’re not convinced and ask more of her.

This story is a blend of erotica and sci-fi and combines an interesting, very original story plus some intriguing world building to start off this serial. The sex scenes are very well done, and the state of the art sex toys…well, let’s just say I want one of each!

My one negative, and this is nothing to do with the writing, is that there was no white space on my Kindle. Each page turn was full of text and there was no white space to break up the solid blocks of text. I have an older Kindle, so this might not be a problem for other readers.

I enjoyed this story by a new-to-me author and look forward to reading more. Recommended.

Really can't give this more than two stars because of how short it is. It's an interesting concept, but I personally think it's a bit sexist, even though Chloe is technically the one with the power. Mainly it's just kind of uncomfortable to read, and I was sure it was written by a man considering the protag is basically male fantasy wish fulfillment. But apparently not? So yeah, you do you Lexi.

It's not even that I don't appreciate erotica, it's that the descriptions were just a tad too much, and I really don't need that much information about what you're doing with bodily fluid thanks.

Chloe is a cool protag, I really liked her 'power' to read people, but seeing as the story is 68 pages long, there wasn't much of a chance to see it explored more. Also that ending is so shitty, come on, a trilogy really? Just slap them all together and be done with it.

I am not a regular reader of fantasy or futuristic romance. And that might explain part of my rating, as I had absolutely no clue which book the environment was inspired from. But the thing is I didn't really understand how it worked, even if there were lengthy explanations that kept from deterring the main plot to progress. And I also couldn't care less about any of the characters and what happened to them as none seemed remotely humane, nor having feelings.
Therefore even what was intended to be hot scenes were barely tepid and seemed totally desincarnated, like a play of machines with one another.
A major miss on my side and I'll certainly will not go on reading this series
One positive thing is that it was decently written, much better than most of erotica freebie available.

I've only read the first instalment and I have to admit I've been thinking about Chloe since I put it down which is odd because generally erotica doesn't "stick" with me even though I enjoy it.

Yes the sex is hot BUT its the characters you root for and it ended up being a story with sex as opposed to just random sex.

Well written and I'll definitely be returning.

Oh, I didn't know anything about The Beam world even though I do listen to the SPP. So that shouldn't hinder you. This story stands well on its own.

I'm giving this three-stars only because it does not feel like a complete story. I went in knowing this was a novella but I was hoping for a narrative that felt fully formed rather than a first act cliff hanger that led to the next book in the series.

That said, I was shocked how much I enjoyed the story. This was my first erotic novel. I only read it because of the guys on the Self Publishing Podcast.

It's a meld between erotic and Sci-Fi. Usually in Sci-Fi stories sexbots and sex workers are secondary stories on the periphery (AI and Minority Report come to mind) but this dives deeper into, dare I say it, the future of sex.

Chloe is an interesting character. She has special talents that I wanted to learn more about (again, this novella feels like the first third of a novel rather than a full narrative). The world-building is quite nice and is supposed to fit into the larger universe that is "The Beam." But I'm still not sure if I love the world enough to get the full story. The second reason for me purchasing this novella was to get a taste of the larger story at play but I'm not sure this particular Sci-Fi story about internet networks is for me.

Still! I would recommend this if you treat it as one part of a larger project. I'm not sure I'll read more erotic but I'm glad I was exposed to it like this. It was much deeper then what I expected.

*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book.* Aubrey Parker, you've sucked me in again! I was pleasantly surprised by The Future of Sex. In fact, I can not believe how much I enjoyed it. Sci-Fi Romance is not my thing.....or so I thought; however, Aubrey Parker has made me a believer. After reading and loving the Trillionaire Boys' Club series (although you do not have to read it before you read this one), I was happy to see some familiar characters carry over into this story. I instantly fell in love with Chloe Shaw. An enigma, she lends herself to the story's focal point. She carries a vulnerability that is captivating, but is a firecracker in her own right. She gets in a zone that is all her own, and leaves everyone baffled yet curious. She is unlike any heroine I've ever read about. Many who read this story will be taken aback by her strength and intelligence. Aubrey Parker's writing is truly innovative and avant-garde! Every book I have read by him is well developed and thorough, not skipping over any details or important information. I implore anyone who thinks that this might not be their cup of tea to PICK THIS BOOK UP! I am so excited to read the next one. Thank you for opening up my eyes and mind, Aubrey!

This book is a great start of Aubrey’s newest series. It’s short and it was over before I wanted it, but I’m definitely intrigued enough to want to continue. I need the next part now after the way it ended. I need to know what’s so special about Chloe.

Chloe wants a new job and applies for a job at the club O. Chloe really wants the job and wants prove that she can do it, because it’s a special club. Chloe is young and the club management doesn’t want her, but Chloe is determined.

I’m not going to say more about this book, because I don’t want to give it away. There is always something to discover in an Aubrey Parker book. I never know what to expect when I start a book by him. It can be sweet or erotic or a little scientific. I always go in blind and just enjoy. The Future of Sex is erotic and a little scientific, but don’t expect any romance in this book. It’s 2060 and science is more advanced than it is now. The club uses and works with a lot of data.

It was the first time the author wrote a book in third pov, but they are many characters that are important in this series so I understand the third pov. I’m not sure who will fall in love and I want to know it.

First of all, I loved Future of Sex. It was a delicious piece of erotica. There isn't much unique in this arena lately (except *coughVioletta Randcough*); it's like sifting through a mile-high pile of chaff for that bit of wheat, but Parker is proof that it's there. The concept of an exclusive futuristic sex spa may not be new, I don't know, but if so this author has lifted it to another plane. The writing is professional and polished, there's a great plot that we can see going somewhere that we absolutely do want to follow along, and characters with layers we wouldn't expect to see in so few pages.

BUT. No matter how much I loved it, I'm opposed to paying for 'episodes.' Future was 60 pages AT MOST. I'm a faster reader than average, but no matter how you slice it an evening's entertainment this is not.

Bottom line: Polished writing, well fleshed out characters considering. Pick up "Episode 1" at discount or free if you can. Bookmark the series because it's likely to be top quality, and then check the bundle price.

Note: Honestly not sure whether I got this via a free promotion that comes to people

Author Aubrey Parker is back and this sci-fi erotic series is just the beginning. This book is fun, witty erotic and filled with so many familiar faces from his earlier books.

Chloe is a simple girl living in 2060 where enhancements are abundant, sex rules have changed and anything goes. She is simple but holds something extremely powerful that Alexa wants and needs to make her company O top in its game.

The writing is top notch and the plot is out of this world and these characters are engaging and I want to know more!! I have enjoyed this first book immensely and I look forward to the remainder of The Future of Sex series because this is going to be a ride of a life time that you do not want to miss!!

Wow! This was an interesting book! Definitely a little different from what I'm used to reading from Aubrey Parker! But it was a very good different! Having a spin of a future being all about how sex has integrated into something a lot bigger than what it is now is actually pretty interesting! Especially in today's age as sex is a number one seller amongst anything and everything we do now. This focuses on Chloe who is pretty much an inexperienced young woman when it comes to sex. When she applies to become an escort everyone is reluctant including Alexa Mathis and Parker Barnes. Once given a shot they see that she is can become a valuable asset. This was a great short read and I can't wait to reads more!

I voluntarily agreed to read this book and this is my honest review!

Seems short for a series starter but it does have a lot of good things in it. It's really an attention getter and you would want the next book right now to know what the future of sex is all about. But, alas, we need to wait and with a good, promising book just like this one, I can already tell that this one will not disappoint the readers.

The future is upon us so why not start with a futuristic story that is concentrated on AI and all manners of sex. Looking forward to reading more from this series.

I gather from reading some of the reviews that this was released a while ago under a different name. Aubrey Parker has obviously decided to expand the original story into 12 serials which he'll be releasing at 2 week intervals I think? It was hard for me to rate this as it's part of a bigger story and not much has been revealed thus far and the problem with serials are the cliff hangers and also that each installment is 1.99 so in the end I'm paying almost 24 bucks for a complete ebook. I ordered the next one and we'll see where it goes from there. The writing is excellent.

Mr Parker just blew me away! Perfect immersion of steamy and hot with mind blowing ideas of the future. He has managed to tie in many of his characters from different series to add in an extra layer of depth to the story but one that isn't necessary to enjoy it. It left me with an enlightened feeling, the kind you get after watching an entire movie only to have it twist in the last five minutes. Cannot wait for the next installment!

I have zero words for the awesomeness that I just read!
Like legit I can't wait for more.
I don't even know where to start with Chloe...like what is real role in all this...how will finding her "talents" help the progression of the O Corporation.
I have more questions, but I know the next book will be just as awesome!

Read out of curiosity; it was referenced in Write. Publish. Repeat. Not bad, but the world seemed super complex and needed a little more development for me, but then, I don't read a lot of sci fi anyway, so I may just not be familiar enough with the genre to pick up on the nuances of world-building.

This book is intriguing from the start. I enjoy sci-fi romance and so excited to see what happened to Alexa & Parker after the Trillionaire Boys club series. I'm so excited to dive in and see what happens in the future of sex. Chloe I really like and can't wait to see what happens next.
