LaQuette writes sexy, stylish, and sensational romance. That means she writes sentimental and steamy stories (like Hallmark movies, but with a lot of sex) featuring at least one MC who always keeps it cute.
This Brooklyn native writes unapologetically bold, character-driven stories. Her novels feature diverse ensemble casts who are confident in their right to appear on the page.
If she's not writing, she's probably trying on or looking for her next great makeup find. She is the 2016 Author of the Year Golden Apple Award winner & the 2016 Write Touch Readers Award winner. Writing—her escape from everyday madness— has always been a friend and source of comfort.

Fourteen memorable stories in one book by noted IR authors was an awesome gem to behold! Each brooding bad boy was badder than the first. I read the shorter stories first beginning with Theodora Taylor and Shyla Colt and after those two tales I was hooked!
This is a straight 5 star read for me even though one story (not saying which it was) had a few errors ... it still was a great read with memorable characters.
So if you love your bad boys no matter what--- very alpha, very possessive very protective and focused on that one woman then do read "Breaking Bad" because these men, these men where bad to the bone!
I'm finished!I read 12 of the 14 stories! All intrigued me in one aspect or another. Some were short stories, some were full stories and at least two ended on a cliffhanger. All in all, not a bad investment for .99 cents!
Reviews shown below ...
Indebted by Sharon Cooper Rating: 4 Stars Lazarus is a cop trying to rid the streets of crime by any means necessary to put the bad guys where they belong, behind bars. Journey is a by the rules Assistant District Attorney. With Laz's bad reputation and Journey's good one it would be career suicide to get involved with Laz. You know what they say about best laid plans, right?
His Favorite by Eve Vaughn Rating: 4.5 Stars This was a different type of story. Tamryn is homeless and hungry and takes care of herself the best way she knows how. Years earlier, she crossed paths with Seamus Haggerty. He fed her and showed her kindness and she (reluctantly) stole from him to survive another day. Dire circumstances brings them together again and he sets her up as a hostess in a club, where he's her only client. Considering the alternatives, Tamryn is grateful for the job, which she sees as a stepping stone to get an education in order to help others in the same dire circumstances of her past life.
Notorious* by Caitlin Daire Rating: 4 Stars I literally groaned when I read the synopsis, but this author continues to surprise me. Alison wants Jack (an ex-con) ... for the movie she's casting. He'd be perfect for the role if only his agent would be willing to put the script in his hands. Getting nowhere and running out of time, Alison decides to pull out all the stops by enticing him with her assets at his favorite bar. He ogles and she pitches. He's disappointed that it was a ploy and she has the good grace to be slightly embarrassed. In order for her to seal the deal, Jack asks her to (pole) dance for him. No biggie, this is how she paid her way through college and no clothes come off. Win-Win. She casts the best actor for the film and he gets the girl and the role of a lifetime.
Dangerously Theirs* by A.M. Griffin Rating: N/A --->Skipped This story is a spin-off or part of a series about humans (on the run) and aliens mating.
Bedding the Enemy* by LaQuette Rating: N/A --->Skipped I started reading this one and I got turned off when I found out the heroine was a bad girl, in a criminal way.
Drive Her* by Bridget Midway Rating: 4 Stars Your father is a murderer and the mother you adored is dead. Oh, I forgot to mention YOU sent the love of your life to prison. Now you're on the run from family members you can't trust and you have nowhere to hide. And, that man you sent to prison -- he's being released after 12 long years and he wants revenge. I would have rated this book 4.5 stars -- although it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it has a loose end which means there's more to this story, so stay tuned.
Hideout* by Billy London Rating: 3.5 Stars You have to take some leaps with this story as the coincidences keep piling up. This is a dark story about human trafficking centered more around the investigation, than it is about romance. A woman on the run reluctantly meets and interacts with an adorable little girl and her father. They quickly bond but the adults have deadly secrets that could get them all killed.
Debt Collector's Due by Shyla Colt Rating: 4 Stars A valued enforcer falls in love with his bosses daughter, knowing that doing so could end his life. When they're caught, in order to save his life she has to promise to never, ever see him again. Years later, the past rears its ugly head when the former boss needs someone to protect his daughter. Who ya' gonna call? I think you know.
His to Possess by Theodora Taylor Rating: 4.5 Stars A blind girl tries to resuscitate her life by starting over in The Big Apple. She's a future lawyer in the making for the downtrodden. In the meantime, she needs a pro-bono lawyer to help a classmate whose parents are being unfairly evicted. Jake, a classmate will help, but only if she goes out with him, desperate -- she agrees. Before she knows it, Jake insinuates himself into her life and Amber finds there are consequences to trusting people.
One Hit by Victoria H. Smith Rating: 4.5 Stars A gorgeous and mysterious man moves into a quiet residential neighborhood and the women lose their minds. Journee is dragged by her best friend Aleise with sweet treats in hand to meet the new neighbor. He seems perfect -- worldly, cultured and refined, but after a shocking discovery, Journee realizes the less she knows about him, the better for her health.
His for the Taking* by Nia K. Foxx Rating: 4 Stars Regina saves the life of Jay, the nephew of a very important man named Hyuk. Realizing that her act of courage may have endangered her life, Hyuk insists she becomes his guest until the perpetrators are caught. There is something about Hyuk that mesmerizes Regina and she's is determined find out everything about him -- even at her own peril!
Rectified* by Xyla Turner Rating: 3.5 Stars I liked the premise of this story. The heroine has six months or less to live. She needs a kidney and one is found for her in Cuba, only the life of her potential donor is snuffed out before the transplant takes place. Now more than ever she has no other options and nothing left to lose. Will she give up or fight for life?
Bad Things, Good Killers Do* by S.W. Frank Rating: 4 Stars A young boy witnesses the death of his family on his birthday which alters his life from simple to complicated. He's sent to an orphanage where adults take advantage of children. Knowing he has friends to save, he makes sure they are forever safe and his actions seals his fate as an assassin.
Star-crossed* by Koko Brown Rating: 4 Stars This is a reincarnation (love) story where two kindred souls never get their happy ending because of a curse. They are destined to be reborn again and again inhabiting different people/lives and time periods from pirates to train robbers to entrepreneurs. I found the story quite intriguing, the cliffhanger NOT SO MUCH. The author noted that the story will be expanded and available soon.
Please note that this anthology is no longer available for purchase.
Eight of nine [*] stories are NOW available for purchase (ranging from $0.99 to $4.99) as stand-alone books.
Three stories ended on cliffhangers: Bedding the Enemy by LaQuette ==> Released Drive Her by Bridget Midway ==> Released Star-Crossed by Koko Brown ==> Coming Soon
Skipped Stories: Dangerously Theirs by A.M. Griffin Bedding the Enemy by LaQuette I skipped these stories because I just couldn't go there.
One story is a prequel: His to Possess by Theodora Taylor is the coming soon story of Holt's friend Luca. I'm not sure why we got Holt's story first and not Luca's.
Anyone need to feed their addiction for outrageously sexy, hard as nails, take no prisoners, overly protective, self proclaimed bad boys and the strong, independent, self assured women who can't do without them? Well, if that's you then you need to pick up your copy of Breaking Bad. Where else can you get the works of some of the best romance authors all in one book? If your looking for drama, action, romance, and plenty of passionate encounters then I think this book is definitely one you won't want to miss. I gave it 5 stars.
Most are BW/WM and most are well written tales. One is scifi and is WM/BM and alien. One was a hot mess and needs editing from beginning to end. The last story had multiple ethnicities.
I read a few stories in anticipation of the Breaking Bad: 14 Tales of Lawless Love release. The stories were vastly diverse yet stayed true to the breaking bad theme. Some of the authors in the anthology, I have read before and I am looking forward to reading again. The sample I was provided introduced two new authors to me and I must say I was excited by the creativity and story line provided by Catlin Dare for example. She went Hollywood on me and gave me an unexpected hero and plot, which I would not have thought to buy on my own, so I thought that was really cool.
These are fully fleshed out short stories, not serials (I been got before) although some authors do leave the door open for continuation…cough LaQuette (but you are going to want it).
All in all, I am looking forward to the full release… this summer has been extremely new release dry!
With this one I get my sci-fi with A.M. Griffin, if you have not read her Loving Dangerously series you should check it out. Looking forward to Billy London, since I have not read her in a minute, my tried and true Bridget Midway and Shyla Colt. Plus finding some new stuff to love.
I happily received an advance copy of this set for review. I have enjoyed stories from a number of authors here - Koko, Bridget, Nia and Shyla in particular - so I knew to expect some quality heat. This is fine collection of stories that mix romance and suspense with the outlaw/bad boy hero theme. It's a style that is growing on me, but if you love the mafia/reformed outlaw type of hero this is for you.
Bridget Midway's "Drive Her" and Caitlin Daire's "Notorious" are two standouts for me, the latter because I do like Hollywood set stories.
This is my review and how I see it. Breaking Bad: 14 Tales of Lawless Love by various authors. Some stories in this book are excellent reads. While I found myself scanning through others hoping to find a connection. Some authors will inform there is more to come later in for the story in the future.
Sharon Cooper: Indebted ~ An oh so bad boy cop and a good girl ADA. Eve Vaughn: His Favorite ~ Two of the most unlikely people met again, under a set of circumstances one stole from the other and the other attempts to exact their payment but finds that they cannot leave the other be. Caitlin Dare: Notorious ~ A bad boy actor who is really a boy scout in disguise. A.M. Griffin: Dangerously Theirs ~ It was not my cup of tea. Can't go into detail without spoilers. LaQuette: Bedding The Enemy ~ Two bosses in bed together literally, yet they have no idea that they are really enemies or are they. Bridget Midway: Drive Her ~ The lead characters to have a history and secrets are revealed that will turn one of the character's life upside down. Billy London: Hideout ~ I just could not get into this story. Shyla Colt: Debt Collector's Due ~ I love these types of stories, star-crossed lovers, and secrets. Theodora Taylor: His To Possess ~ These two know each other; however, one is more aware of their past than the other. Victoria H. Smith: One Hit ~ Good girl gets her bad boy. Nia K. Foxx: His For The Taking ~ A paranormal read, a good one. Xyla Turner: Rectified ~ A what's a girl to do when faced with death, what will a man do when he took her last hope. S.W. Frank: Bad Things Good Killers Do ~ The loss of a family can do things to a young mind, but the scent of a woman can do even more. My first read by the author, just wished that this is one of the books that would be followed up with more. KoKo Brow: Star-Crossed ~ A never-ending cycle and this story does not end here. I could not really get into the characters. The female is stubborn and the man initially was (to me) weak.

Eve Vaughn's Story . His Favorite. Brings together two people who on the surface seem to have nothing in common . Seamus Haggerty , son of a Irish Mobster . And Tamryn Smith , who learned early on in life she only has herself to depend on. Sometimes it's the thorns that make you appreciate the roses . Seamus's Da got his money the old fashion way ,by hook or crook . And having had life kick him in the teeth he dam well won't ever be on the bottom of anybody food chain . Eve Vaughn has a way of weaving a story that draws you in , I found myself wanting to know more about Tamryn and Seamus. And not putting the story down till it was finished . Well worth the read !
Bridget Midway's Story Drive Her. Victoria Crandall , Heiress finds herself face to face with Russell Griffings ,convicted felon , now ex-con. A intriguing , sizzling read , Bridget Midway brings the heat with this story.
I normally avoid anthologies but I decided to give this one a try. For the most part I really enjoyed it. The stories were captivating and sexy. Can't go wrong with a bad boy hero and the women who want them. As the anthology progressed I noticed that the editing got a little sloppy. Or there was a lack of editing altogether. One novella I had to dnf because it was so badly edited. A few I skimmed because the plot was not interesting. 9 out of the 14 were good. Not too shabby for an anthology.
This box set is great. These stories are by some of my favorite authors. The Alpha title is just not for men...the women are awesome, they love hard and fight dirty too. The drama. The chase. The thrills and the love scenes are everything! Each story brought its own thrill...i loved it. My name from now on is Oshun Tamyrn 😀❤❤
I was talking about this anthology to a fellow blogger @MusingsIRJ about how some of the stories left me feeling incomplete or wanting more. She explained to me that this is what an anthology is supposed to do. The stories are meant to be incomplete to set the reader up for the full length version. Well honey that’s exactly what this anthology did!!! Now to be fair I only was giving an arc for 3 of the stories but let me say if these stories are an indication of the full book readers will not be disappointed.
In this review I will only briefly touch on the a few of the stories I read. I say briefly because although the stories were short they packed a lot of action and I don’t want to give anything a way.
Eve Vaughn who is what I consider a classic in the IR game. Let me just say this story His Favorite is classic Eve and does not disappoint. Tamryn isn’t any one’s damsel in distress. Life has taught her some very hard lessons and she is about to receive a very tough yet steamy lesson with the devil himself, Seamus.
Seamus plays a huge part in the underworld granted he seems to be a business man but he has a darkness about him. These two meet under less than stellar circumstances. Although Tamryn takes his kindness for granted he gives her a chance. In typical Eve fashion Seamus is an alpha male and once cleaned up Tamryn becomes “his.” He has to ger her out of system and one night is never enough. Feelings are caught and these two learn how to battle their demons together. The intimacy these two shared was more than just physical. I only wish for more dialogue between the two characters much of their shared moments were afterthoughts. This story was a good mix of romance and some action. Tamryn is envied and catching Seamus eye only makes matter worse. She finds herself fighting for her life literally but she refuses to be anyone’s victim again. I like that Tamryn was a fighter and she didn’t let the nasty barbs from the other women get her down. Eve does like to dabble into the darkness of stories. I hope that this story is turned into a full length novel because I feel these two have more to tell.
I honestly have never read Sharon Cooper and was pleasantly surprised with her short Indebted .
Laz was a BOSS!!!! All I could think of was, "nobody puts Journey in a corner." This story was an interesting mix of right and wrong. The lines are blurred. Laz is a detective but he does what it takes to get the job done. Kinda like that Robin Hood syndrome steal from the rich to give to the poor. He is a broken man who watched the woman he loves die. Journey is this fierce ADA who knows she shouldn't allow this man to get close to her heart .Heck, I was just reading about him and I wanted to know more!!! These two come together because Laz is being investigated, I mean when you are a cop who doesn't mind smacking around the bad guy are you shocked that he is being investigated by the powers that be?
I loved that this story had a hint of mystery/suspense. Now don't get me wrong these two have a chemistry that's off the charts but this story didn't focus on the romance as much as solving the crime and building a real relationship between the two characters. Laz cant even phantom loosing another love and when Journey needs his help he doesn't mind calling in every favor and making things happen. Readers you will find yourself rooting for the "dirty" cop. Like I said this was my first novel by this author but will not be my last this was a great short story that I know can be turned into a full length novel, I want more from that ending (hint, hint).
Now baby when you talk about bringing the heat in this anthology LaQuette does just that with her short Bedding The Enemy. Before we dive into this one the names of the characters are a little hard to pronounce but that will not detour the reader. That first chapter was full steam ahead and this story just kept getting better and better. A little warning this book does end on a cliff hanger but the author does promise a full length novel soon.
Mas is the head of the Yakuza family and let me tell you he wears the title well. This book starts off with a very steamy love scene that signifies so much more. Oshun has only shown Mas a piece of herself and the pieces that remain hidden are very deadly. For a man like Mas commitment is a very big step so when he gives himself to Oshun and she avoids him things get interesting quick. Oshun little does Mas know is a boss in her own right and these two are fighting on separate sides of the same issue. I love that the author showed the characters struggle with the path they each choose and trying to hold onto each other. This story was action packed and I will say LaQuette at her finest. I did cringe when I read the cliff hanger because all of the angst I had to go through as a reader!!!! (lol) This story shows the willing sacrifice these two are willing to make for each other but they leave a bloody trail in the midst. Readers this story doesn't disappoint and I for one cannot wait for the full length.
All In all I really enjoyed the snippet I read of this anthology and although the stories are short they leave the reader wanting more.
Coming across an anthology with not one, not two or three but five and more of my favorite authors was like getting an unexpected day off of work in the middle of a really rough work week. I loved the stories and you will too every one of these authors is formidable in their own right and they have come together and put forth a collection that you will not come across again in a while.
I loved the Breaking Bad: 14 Tales of Lawless Love anthology. What I love best about multi-author anthologies is the opportunity to discover new authors and read new work by known authors; this anthology did not disappoint. My favorite story was Eve Vaughn's His Favorite. Seamus Haggerty isn't Ms. Vaughn's usual assholish alpha. Don't get me wrong, Seamus is a total alpha but he's very endearing despite the "job" he arranges for Tamryn, the story's heroine. In Sharon Cooper's Indebted, Laz Dimas is one police officer that could frisk me anytime. He's basically a good cop who pushes the line to do his job. His reputation not only endangers his own career but that of his love interest ADA Journey Ramsey. My favorite scene is a confrontation between Journey and one of her co-workers. Journey shows that she's not a pushover and that hanging around Laz has rubbed off on her. Caitlin Dare is one of the new to me authors in this anthology. Notorious's bad boy Jack Steele is an actor who has perfected the bad boy persona on and off screen. Unfortunately for Alison, the casting director for his latest flick, Jack can't seem to break out of the bad boy mode. Alison proves time and time throughout this story that she believes in Jack no matter what predicament he finds for himself. LaQuette's Bedding the Enemy, made me so mad!!! It's a fabulous story but ends with a cliffhanger. Fortunately, she's promised to complete this story. I'm eagerly anticipating to learn how Oshun and Masaki deal with the betrayal dealt to them by those closest to them. In Bridget Midway's Drive Her, ex con Russell Griffing served 12 years due to his criminal associations. When he gets out he comes to collect a big pay day owed to him only to find out he has to do one more job in order to collect. His job involves bringing Victoria Crandall home to her gangsta daddy Crush. Drive Her is appropriately titled. There are so many twists and turns in this story. Two of them, one involving Victoria and the other involving someone from Russell's past, you never see coming. I was absolutely blown away.
If you have a thing for bad boys and alphas who push the line, this is a must read anthology. You won't be disappointed.
What I liked most about these stories is that the men in this collection are considered bad, but the women that they chose are even badder (in a good way...purposeful). I say this because it takes a strong woman to deal with a strong man. A woman who is not afraid to call their men on their bs.
The one reoccurring theme that I did not like was all of the men seemed unworthy of love. However, each story was well written with just the right amount of "Man! Why would you do that?" "What is your problem?" and so forth. Each author was on point, and it was a pleasure to read authors Caitlin Dare, Sharon Cooper, Billy London, A.M. Griffin, LaQuette, S.W. Frank and Nia Foxx, as this was the first that I have read their work.
I especially liked Bridget Midway's story because it was different from her other work. Her hero Russell just got out of prison and he was seeking the road to redemption. When he finds that he does not have the money he was expecting, he takes one last job with a different agenda. While his former boss wants it one way Russell decides to do it his way. But, the whole situation turns out completely different. I would love to read a sequel to this story to find out the fate of Russell's brother.
I highly recommend this book to all of those who like the bad boy persona and see them get their hearts desire.
Oh my, where do I begin? It was an amazing collection of stories and I enjoyed all of them. A few of the stories had some typos that were distracting thus the 4 Stars rather than 5 Stars.
Each of these bad boys were redeemed in the end but the journey to that redemption was one that tugged my emotions and engaged my mind and stole my heart. The amazing authors gave us ex-cons, slightly dirty cops, gangsters trying to go straight-ish, actors trying to live down a bad reputation, bounty hunters, heads of branches of the Yakuza, debt collector,, Mafia prince, hitman, and tiger shifter. All of my favorites types of stories. This book will satisfy all types of readers.
Welcome to the world of Alpha Male Bad Boys who don’t have a problem defying the law for the right reason or right woman. Eve Vaughn, Sharon C Cooper, Caitlin Dare and LaQuette penned my favorites. I would love to see Seamus & Tamryn ( Vaughn’s His Favorite), Laz &Journey (Cooper’s Indebted), Alison & Jack (Dare’s Notorious) and Oshun & Mas (LaQuette’s Sleeping With The Enemy) again in a full-blown novel of their own. Great potential. Each story engages the reader. The chemistry between these couples is strong. No white hats or law & order dialogue. It’s lawless and sometimes by any means necessary which makes these stories a page turner! I recommend them.
I wanted to like this book but i just couldn't. It has some of my favorite authors in it but at times it dragged on. I think because there were some many authors in this book they had to cut their stories short. This results in many of the stories feeling rushed or incomplete. I have read novellas that feel more complete than many of these stories. It gets a 3 because i did like a few of the stories enough to check out the author. Overall kind of disappointing for me. I struggled to finish.
I received an advanced copy of "Drive Her" by Bridget Midway. Bridget's characters are so vividly portrayed right from the start. I love the combination of outward toughness and underlying vulnerability in both Russell and Victoria. From the start, I was rooting for Russell to leave his past life of crime behind. The chemistry between Russell and Victoria was explosive. It was a very enjoyable and hot read and I look forward to reading more of the short stories.
There is no shortness of great stories in this compilation from great writers. I started with Drive Her by Bridget Midway. From the moment I started to the last page, I was dragged in to the story. Russell and Victoria had unfinished business from their combined pasts, which made this storyline that more interesting. Please be ready for sex scenes that make you pant!! I cant wait to dive into more of this book.
I enjoyed reading these wide variety of romance genres. Some of them introducing me to stories and authors I would not normally read but found very interesting. Most of the stories were well written and had complex characters and plots. Some of the stories had me scratching my head and there were a couple that needed detailed grammatical editing. Over all, it was an enjoyable compilation of books.
As a collection the mark was hit. As it has adventure and stories that piqued one's interest. However, the writing styles varied in a way that enabled you to see which authors needed more character development and which just failed flat. Cliffhangers are never appreciated in a novella. At least for me. I think it's critical to drive home the message without leaving one hanging, especially when not necessarily.
Well it's NOT the best of stories...and it's NOT the worst...there are a few DIAMONDS in the rough...and some I just couldn't even make it through...there were also EXTREMELY too many editing, grammatical and formatting issues throughout many of the stories...the ones that were worthwhile were quite SPICY with some ENGAGING moments of INTRIGUING romance action and a bit of suspense. I MUST say I'm so glad this was ONLY .99 cents when I purchased.
I bought this box set specifically to read AM Griffin's book Dangerously Theirs. It was a great story, fast paced, interesting world, a little bit dark, and a lot sexy. One of the characters, Dallas, was not a very nice person in the beginning. The female heroine was awesome. I look forward to reading the other stories in this boxset.
This set was without a doubt a must read for me. It contains my favorite authors and they never fail to transport me to a different place with their work and this set didnt miss that expectation at all. These bad boys may have had flaws but they loved true and they loved hard and I loved it.
Just in time for Summer! Breaking Bad is a compilation of 14 stories by the best romance authors today. They really bring the heat in these sizzling stories. Eve Vaughn knows how I love my bad boys sexy, handsome and slightly flawed. Seamus pursuit of Tamar is drooling with sexiness....His Favorite is a non stop thrill ride so sit back and buckle up because one taste is never enough!
All of your favorite authors in one book is amazing...Shyla Colt...Theodora Taylor...Koko Brown...Billy London and so many more
