Having attained an M.B.B.S. from MGM Medical College, Indore, Sandeep went on to secure a job in medicine and now works at the Government Hospital Sarangpur District Rajgarh. He has an amazing imagination and spends much of his free time dreaming up stories. He has been writing since 2006 and has completed two novels. The first has yet to be published, but his second one, entitled Second Chance, is an exciting and moralistic tale of how one man comes to realise the error of his greed.
In his free time, Sandeep likes to relax and spend time with his family and friends. He is also a food lover and enjoys trying new and exciting dishes.
Sandeep’s most urgent wish is to be able to educate children who work in the street and have little opportunity to make something good from their lives. He believes that everyone’s childhood should be awesome, and not a struggle.
People rarely get a chance to correct their wrong-doing. And even if they get a chance whether they correct it properly or not it is up to the realization of their wrong deeds. Partly self-help and partly fiction looking cover of "Second Chance" forced me to read the blurb of the book. And the book came out to be a fictional work with underlining importance on benevolence and humanity.
"Second Chance" is a story of successful businessman Shekhar Kapoor. Shekhar Kapoor has inherited Aerowalk company from his dad after his dad got paralysis attack. Being a single child from a rich family, he was spoilt from a core. He breathed the air of arrogance and selfishness. Though his parents tried their best to nurture him with proper values, he ended up being sadistic. He became more negative after the loss of his mother. He considered his father as the culprit for his loss. The only thing he cared about was his ego and needs. He considered people working in his company as slaves and didn't give proper respect to them. He did not respect others' concerns or value system.
Unlike other human beings, his case was different. Someone was watching all his moves. The person started giving Shekhar warning about repercussions of his actions. Shekhar found those warnings as imagination or threats from rivals. But things didn't go as Shekhar planned. He met an accident and went to the City of Justice. Things became more interesting from that point onwards.
Things I liked about the book - Nicely interlinked relationship of Shekhar with different characters in the story. - The description of the City of Justice. It is written with dark humourous tone. - Though each character has their own story, which is adding meaning towards the climax, I liked the character of Unnati and Kailash. - Description of various hell. It made me Google to check various types of hell exist according to Hindu belief. - Simplicity and straightforwardness of the story line.
The author has given proper justice to the title "Second Chance" by giving proper emphasis on both the scenario of Shekhar's life.
It's all about what goes around comes around... a very amazing theme actualised and visualised in the form of a novel by Dr. Sandeep. I read this novel a few days ago. i really liked the idea of creating a character and fusing almost all the badness in him and tyrannised by some invisible qua science qua religious authority the guy just changes his colours... true to the concept, it's about the second chance that Shekhar gets and he capitalises on it very wonderfully! A very good read and I hope readers will like it.
The central character of this novel is Shekar. Who is a careless rich person doesn't bother about anything in is life. One day he died and then novel takes a turn of supernatural and fantasy. That he had given a second chance to understand life better. Though the story seems like simple but reveals many interesting facts about life. Once we understand the worth of life we commit ourselves to do better things instead of evil. A good read for me!
‘Second Chance’ is a story of a spoiled brat Shekhar Kapoor. He is the only son of a rich business and future owner of the company. He never cared for anything or anyone. He misbehaved with the poor, used the power of money to threaten and bring down the others. He goes through life cheating and insulting people. He wants to win everything but he cannot win death by his money.
The book conveys a moral message. The illustration of hell and punishments sends a chill down the spine. Whatever you do in your life good or bad you will be punished or rewarded accordingly. There is someone who is watching your every move from above and keeps a record of that matter for justice. It is a simple and moralistic read. The characters weaved around the protagonist compliments the storyline.
Second Chance is a fiction novel by Dr Sandeep Jatwa. A well written story which takes you to places and when I started reading this story, I was totally amazed by its sequence that I could not believe myself that I was already in page 75.
The story is about a rich businessman by name Shekhar Kapoor who did not do anything good in his life be it with treating his employees or his ailing dad. He conspired with a person and acquires hi competitor brand. Just then he meets with an accident. He goes to hell. The journey of Hell was described so vividly that at one point, I felt like I was there but then I realised as to why would I go there :-)
After returning from hell, Shekhar Kpoor starts doing lot of good things. I am not disclosing them here as it would become a spoiler. The story has few characters and incidents. All of them were explained clearly in the initial part of the story and later as well making it a perfect read.
Author deserves an applause for the efforts he has taken in presenting a good story which would make a person with soft corner to cry at least in 2 places minimum because it made me cry in few places which I would say is the success of this novel.
Give it a read as it is worth your time and money.
The story is really one in many. It is about a rich rude man who does everything for money and profit. He destroy almost everything which comes in the path of his success. He got many chances to correct his mistakes but he ignores everything whatever comes in between his way of success. And then he was called "in the City of Justice" where he was been told about his mistakes. This is such a beautiful piece of writing. I loved reading this novel.
I received this book from V Influencers in exchange of an honest and unbiased review. Shekhar Kapoor, a successful businessman and owner of Aerowalk, has done all the wrong things throughout his life. He is known to be arrogant, money loving, dirty schemer. He is used to get his way with women either by threatening their jobs or pouring out money. Mr. Balraj Kapoor, his father, a man of great personality was the one who had established the business but was now bed ridden, the only signs of survival being the sound of him breathing. Although ever since Shekhar took his father'splace, the company had been increasing and improving, the people working under him suffered his ill treatment. He appointed and promoted people based on extra service than their capabilities. But one must always keep in mind how powerful Karma is. It spares none. And no amount of money could have Shekhar from what happenednext. It all started one day withan awkwardly disturbing call from so called the City of Justiceand receives his first warning to drop all misdoings and start afresh. But Shekhar was tooegoistic and ignorant to do so which ended up with him receivingmore warning and more ignorance and then finally an accident. When he opens himself dead and somewhere far from the human civilisation, he is taken to the God of Justice and Bookkeeper; he is made to rememberand rewatch all his wrong doings and punished for that.A long list of sins starting with when Shekhar was sixteen and was driving a car intoxicated. He had ran the car over someone's leg and on opposing had beaten that poor fellow's father. And it was only the beginning for the list goes all the way to each and every horrible behaviour - he had demoted a devoted, loyal and responsible person, Kailash, from his work because of unethicalreasons. He used his position to compel women to make physical contact with him. He didn't promote Unnati Sharma, despite of her deserving it just because he liked her. He had wrongly seized Feetland Shoe Company from Mr. Ashutosh Upadhyay forcing him to lead life like a beggar. He insulted an old female beggar and pointed out she would be of help in reducing the population just by ending her own life. He was sentenced for not serving his father and not fulfilling his although he had thought to do so, he did not do it. He was sentenced for not helping others, for selfish behaviour and for hundreds of other crimes. By then he had finally understood how monstrous he has been and regretted not realising that sooner. He begged for a second chance which he got only because of the limitless love of his mother. He wakes up to find himself lying in the hospital bed and resolves to correct his every mistake. Initially when he discloses his experience to two of his closest people, one says it's NDE or Near Death Experience while the other, a doctor dismisses the theory and describes it to be a mental illness. Will he be able to turn every sin to help for the people? Is yes then how? What was the experience he had gone through in his 2 mins of death? What is NDE really? Do you believed in it's existence? I must say the concept of the book was intriguing. Though at some point I found it to be rather childish or unnecessarily descriptive, the changes Shekhar went through was quite inspiring. The book pulled out two contrasting characters of the human, one who works hard yet doesn't get the deserved and the other who woos and pleases the boss to acquire high scores. But then again kamra is always there! Karma is a very strong word. Some people believe it while some fear. Life is so very delightful to lead when in the bright side of happiness than under the choking covers of wealth.
We often make decision in our life without thinking its pros and cons. From these some of the decisions are spontaneous and some are made by our nature and ego. We hardly ever get a chance to reform it, but even if we get a chance then how we amend our mistakes /decisions is something worth to think. This book revolves around the same scenario. I have received this book from the author so at first, I would like thank and congratulate him.
The protagonist of this book is rich, egoistic and spoilt Shekhar Kapoor. He is the owner of renowned company Aerowalk and makes billions. But his behavior is totally rude with the people who are around him.
Being a sole child of the rich parents, he is rude and pessimistic since a childhood. His parents tried their best to amend his behavior but with the time and death of his mother, he becomes more negative. He thinks his father is responsible for his mother’s death.
Shekhar spends sleepless nights and his days went by without a smile. He has demoted a senior person of the company; he has not promoted a girl who is working in his company for years. He has not talked to his father since 10 years. He thinks poor people are the stain and they should die. He finds it ridiculous when someone helps anybody. In short, he is the man who thinks he is the superior and gives priority to his ego and negative attitude.
One day he receives a mysterious call warning him to stop his wrongdoing but he totally ignored it. Then something unreal happens and the billionaire Shekhar Kapoor dies. In a total surprise, he visits the court of justice where a bookkeeper weighed down his good and bad karmas.
He is convicted to various punishments, however, something strange happens after which makes him change his way of living. Do read this book to know how Shekhar utilizes his second chance.
My perception:
I simply loved this story. This book gives a lesson which we tend to forget in this busy life. Though you are a billionaire, you can’t take your money with you. The only thing which goes with you is love and good karma. So start investing in these rather than money. Through the eyes of Shekhar, the author has tried to show the today’s people who are busy to nurture negativity. With this, the author has also represented that we always get second chance to amend our wrongdoing and it is totally up to us, how we utilize this. This book is a pleasant reading and I totally love the way author has interlinked the various characters. Overall a perfect read, the only area of improvement is the book cover. You should read this book to allow some positivity in your life.
I received a review copy from Vinfluencers in exchange of honest review.
Life gives us many chances. But this book is about second chance. Life is a continuum. It never stops for evil as well as good persons. Do people change? Maybe.
Shekhar is a businessman whose father is paralytic. He is a selfish, nasty and ruthless person. He is totally indifferent to feelings of others. He does not believe in marriage. He needs new woman daily and does not want to be tied to one. He has a new manager Manish whose only capability is that he acts as a pimp for Shekhar. He arranges girls for him for sex. Kailash is old manager from his father’s time and he demoted him. He insults him all the time. Unnati is a nice girl in his office but he does not promote her. Hrishita is new girl in the office who is ready to sleep with him. He takes hostile over company of another businessman. Then he start receiving warnings from mysterious “City of Justice”. They warn him either to mend his ways or be ready for dire consequence. He ignores the warnings. And one fine day he meets with a fatal accidents. He is taken to this city by a mysterious person. There he sees hell and realize his folly. Then he comes back to consciousness. It may a dream or reality but it changes him completely. What happens next?
Unnati explains about “Near Death Experience” which he felt in 2 minutes when he was dead. It is felt by those who has been very near to death and they might feel extreme fear or total serenity, security or warmth. In 1975 Raymond Moody wrote a book “Life after Life”. In 1981 “International Association for Near Death study (IANDS)” was founded. Many famous people has experienced it.
The book starts off well and is written in a simple language. The description of hell is clichéd and so are many other things in the book. Shekhar character lacks development and transformation is very simplistic. He is shown as a very cruel person initially and then he becomes diametrically opposite. He even made a list of wrong deed done by him, which is very short considering his character. After the accident book became very boring. It is a one time read.
Second Chance by Dr. Sandeep Jatwa is an fiction novel mostly speaks about karma and love. From the title and blurb story can be easily predict able.
The narration is done by Shekhar, owner of Aerowalk an leading leading shoe manufacturing company in india. Who is always in desperation about money, a greedy man. Eventually he also doesn't cares for others emotions being rude with colleagues or anyone. He's father is paralyzed and bedridden. Mother is no more.
When his life is moving only in the way of money making, he receives some threats and warnings which is the lead to change story completely intresting by unknotting each thread thrilly and goodly.
What were the warnings and what happened after the final warning, how does that changed his life completely is where the author perfectly connected all the knooted threads.
Also the inclusion of love and father-son bond sounds bit filmy but in the way of his narration and lucid language makes you to follow the flow without divergence.
Overall, Second Chance would be perfect pick if you eying to hold motivational plus thriller or trying to change genres. It would be light and good read.
Thank you Vinfluencers for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review.
Here are my thoughts on it: I liked reading this book. It was a very thoughtful and a moralistic read. The story centers on Shekhar who is a proud businessman, selfish in his demeanor. He only cares about his materialistic possessions. He starts receiving mysterious warnings from a place called The City of Justice telling him to change his way of life, however ignoring them all, he continues to follow his arrogant heart. When he dies in a car accident he is sent to the City of Justice, where he is found guilty of committing terrible things to good people. Even though Shekhar wasn't evil, his rude nature made people around him suffer. He is deported to Hell and is sentenced way too many horrific punishments. Seeing other people suffer, they being tortured in hell, Shekhar realizes his mistakes. Can Shekhar seek redemption in spite of what he has done?
I enjoyed reading this book. Halfway through the book, I was addicted to it. The story gradually develops and the plot grows on you. The transition in Shekhar's character as he realizes how his egoistic nature has affected the lives of so many around him, his breakdown, and his awakening, is praiseworthy.
Sometimes people take things for granted. They become so blinded by greed and wealth that all they care about is themselves. They think that the world is theirs and will function according to their whims and fancies. But Karma is seldom like that. Karma watches everything and makes them pay for their wrongdoings.
When Shekhar's notions of himself are shackled, when he knows what people around him truly think of him, he was heartbroken. The most commendable thing was that his change. How he starts appreciating everyone around him.
It was a quick read and a story good enough to teach us a lesson about being kind to everyone around us. I liked the writing style of this book and would definitely recommend it!
*SPOILERS ALERT! This book begins with a nightmare faced by a Rich and Successful Businessman Shekhar Kapoor who is the owner of Aerowalk Shoe Company earlier owned by his dad Balraj Kapoor. The nightmare involves a mysterious phone call which can not be rejected and needs to be picked up by Shekhar while he drives his favourite Cadillac at a speed of 104 km per hour on the way to his company. The black screen of his cellphone displayed the words - First Warning. He became scared as black clouds hovered in the atmosphere around his car and the steering wheel jammed due to some unknown force. Such nightmares kept recurring in short periods of time. All the warnings were sent by the bookkeeper from the City of Justice. Shekhar always considered himself as a very important person and often disrespected others. One such incident happened when he demoted a very senior and well experienced person in his company - Kailash from the post of General Manager to that of a peon. Kailash was an asset to the company but Shekhar was against him as he thought that he was his father's friend (Balraj Kapoor) who according to him had killed his mother years back. Shekhar received warnings again and again to which he did not react and as a result his car capsized on the highway leaving him in a pool of blood. Later when he assumed that he was dead, he found himself on the back seat of his car which had capsized. Slowly he woke up and was astonished to see that someone was driving his car. He asked the person driving the car that who he was as he had no memories of recruiting a driver for his beloved car. Later he was brought to the City of Justice where everything floated in air from vehicles to books. The author has vividly described Hell - "Hell was like the infinite kitchen of a luxurious hotel where millions of monster chefs in chef attires were working at their large table. The kitchen was perfectly pristine. There were many rows of working tables with a stove, microwave, knife, peeling instruments, chopping blades, stabbing daggers and a busy chef working there." The descriptions made by the author are strong, spooky as well as brilliant indicating that the author has an amazing imagination. Shekhar was called to the Justice Room where he was told everything about the warnings and his carelessness. A thick cloud of smoke formed the images in front of him so that he could realise what all crimes he had committed. At first he was not affected and he argued with the God of Justice! (No one dare argue with the God of Justice who was a mammoth figure himself) As a result he was thrown on the floor and he soon realised that what all crimes he had committed was all because of his carelessness and lack of decency. He was shown the visuals of all the crimes he had committed in a series and he cried, he wanted to help all those people who he had tortured and disrespected because of his behaviour. He was punished by the God of Justice and was sentenced a total of four hundred and twenty two punishments. He was allowed to skip any five punishments as he had earlier saved the life of a puppy. As he stepped outside the Justice Room a change in him was visible to the waiter who had accompanied him to the room. When he had entered the Justice Room he was a big headed man but now he was a changed man and the waiter could see it. Then Shekhar is taken to the hell where he is shown all his punishments one by one by a monster type figure who was the chief guard of the hell. The author has named the punishments in a unique way which I liked like Panrimukham which means that you will be offered to giant pig like animals who will chew you, who will penetrate your flesh, your bone with their strong huge teeth, they will suck your blood and your bone marrow. After experiencing some severe consequences he suddenly wakes up in the hospital and realises that all he experienced was real but unreal at the same time. After that he tries his best to undo all of his wrong doings. He changed into a human being in the real sense. He discovered happiness which was missing in his life.
This book is a gem in its real sense. It will definitely leave a deep impact on each and every soul who has the opportunity to read it. This book will really change your way of perceiving life. You will be able to appreciate the small but significant aspects of your life which you were completely unaware of. This book describes a person's struggle from transforming himself from being rich by money to the one being rich by heart.
I recommend this book to each and every soul on the face of this earth. I am not exaggerating in any form but being real and true with you!
The entire plot of the book is almost summarised in the synopsis.
What is This Book All About?
Second Chance by Sandeep Jatwa is a story about a man named Shekhar Kapoor who happens to be a successful businessman. Along with being successful, another trait that he possesses is of arrogance. He thinks of himself as a high and mighty person who can look down his nose at everyone and regards all of his employees and the people who he meets as inferiors. He doesn't respect anyone neither does he know what politeness means. He is arrogant, he is rude, he is...well, I am not going to say it. I think you would have thought of enough adjectives to define him by now! I leave you in charge of that!
He always searches for imperfections, no matter how hard his employees work or how hard they try to please him, he never seems satisfied and always has a string of rude words at the tip of his tongue. Can't leave an opportunity now, can he?!
One day, out of nowhere, he receives a call from a place known as 'City of Justice', and a person warns him to change his behaviour or else he will meet his fate soon.
Soon after the call, he meets with an accident but he receives a second chance on his life. A second chance to improve himself and be a better person and he takes up on that second chance to make amendments for all his mistakes.
It is a mix of realism and fantasy.
What Did I Like About the Book?
Almost everything.
The plotline is very straight forward and the story actually follows what the blurb says. No extras, people! It isn't one of those books where you read the blurb and think wow, it's attractive and then you read the story and you feel as if the blurb was misleading but this isn't one of those stories. It is simple and straight forward.
The language is pretty good and the narration backs up well.
The cover designer really thought of the cover! The cover portrays exactly what the story is about.
What Could Have Been Better Though?
There were some spelling mistakes here and there and also some grammatical errors. Those could have been avoided with better editing, I feel.
The next thing is that I have noticed that the author used the word "said" extensively. Words synonymous to "said" could have been used to give better effect to the characters' tones.
I felt that the characters could have been developed a little bit more. They didn't sound as convincing as the author tried to make them. At least, they didn't sound much convincing to me. A little bit of background could have influenced the characters. Shekhar especially needed more improvement. How can a person who was so cruel at once suddenly become so nice? This transformation from bad to good needed more detailing.
The blurb could have been made a little more interesting. It gives away the entire plot of the story and one might not be interested in reading it. So, I would suggest that the blurb be written in a short and crisp manner.
Will I recommend it?
Yes, without a doubt because if you read it, you'll be reading what you expected to read when you first pick this book! No falsification, no mind tricks.
Also, this is a short read. You can complete it in one sitting.
My Final Verdict —
If you are looking for a short sensible read, this could be your pick.
My thanks to "Vinfluencers" for providing me a copy of "Second Chance" in exchange for my honest review.
"Second Chance" by Dr. Sandeep Jatwa is a tale with a moral; it is the story of a billionaire who is mean, rude and all things negative, surely bound to rot in hell, getting a second chance to atone for his sins.
“Second Chance” has a good plot that is quite relevant in the times of rising cutthroat-ism and falling human values. The protagonist, Shekhar Kapoor, is portrayed as the embodiment of all evil; he is arrogant, egoistic and treats everyone below his station as worthless scum. The portrayal of his character, along with the others like a sincere old employee persecuted by the boss for no reason, a girl sleeping her way to promotion and another girl losing out because of her morals, is stereotypical. He, for some reason known only to God, receives cryptic warnings urging him to mend his ways, from the God of Justice, that he doesn't heed. Then he meets with an accident, caused by the God of Justice, which results in a near-death experience wherein he visits the City of Justice and then Hell; the experience gives him a taste of what to expect in the afterlife as punishment for all his wrongdoings in his life. The description of hell and that of the punishments meted out to the sinners is inspired by Hindu mythology (Vishnu / Garuda Puranas), brought to popular knowledge in India by the Tamil movie “Anniyan” (dubbed as “Aparichit” in Hindi and telecast almost once every week by major television channels). Due to the power of his dead mother’s love, Shekhar gets a second chance at life and, sure as hell, he makes the most of it, reversing almost all the bad things he has done earlier, and finds true happiness.
The story is too simple, a bit too fairy-tale like, a story where a bad guy turns good after something bad happens to him and everyone lives happily ever after. Still, it is a good one, a quick read, with a big dose of feel-good factor. The author has kept up the momentum throughout and has tied up all the loose ends quite well. However, this story has been murdered by bad English, to say the least. It seems that the editor, if ever there was one, has done absolutely nothing with the manuscript. When I came across the first few grammatical errors, I thought of marking them up for the publisher’s reference. But, very soon, I gave up in exhaustion due to the staggering number of glaring mistakes. There are mistakes in grammar, punctuation, diction and even the construction of sentences. A few errors in the whole book due to some oversight could be borne with, but this one has errors on almost every page - not acceptable at all!
To summarise, “Second Chance” is a decent little story with a moral core, though clichéd, that has been hugely let down by poor (or, no) editing.
Shekhar Kapoor is a successful businessman who has never done a decent thing in his entire life. For him, it is all about what he can get and how fast he can get it. He goes through life cheating and insulting people, even after he receives a mysterious telephone call from what is called the City of Justice. Ignoring the cryptic warnings, Shekhar continues to live his life as he pleases, until one day, shortly after insulting a beggar in the street, Shekhar crashes his car and is killed. And it is only when he is standing before the Bookkeeper, and being shown where his life had gone wrong, that Shekhar finally understands what life is all about. But is it too late for him? Can he be given another chance, undo all the wrongs he has done? Or is there a chance that Shekhar Kapoor can find redemption where there had previously been no hope?.

Review:
The plotline is identical direct overconfident and the story essentially follows I'm sorry? the blurb says. No extras, people! It isn't one of the folks' books everyplace you comprehend the blurb and sense wow, it's beautiful and next you glance at the story and your air as if the blurb was misleading. But this, this put your name down for suitable here, it is plain and level forward.
I felt that the font may perhaps exhibit been industrial a hardly crumb more. They didn't normal as persuasive as the person responsible tried to get them. At least, they didn't jingle a large amount persuasive to me. A hardly speak of training can suffer influenced the characters. Shekhar chiefly considered a necessary new improvement. How preserve a persona who was hence cruel at as soon as out of the blue be converted into consequently nice? This transformation from austere to delightful looked-for extra detailing.
'Second Chance' was easily the quickest read of the year for me. Its fast paced, filled with descriptions (sometimes too much) and weaves in the story of a not so ordinary guy who tries to fix his past mistakes.
I always enjoy a book with a flawed protagonist. Second Chance's Shekhar is exactly the type. With just page 1, I had started hating this lead to no extent. He is vain, arrogant, disrespectful and every other vile thing a rich obnoxious guy is. I would actually consider this an amazing feat of the writer to create such a character that could rile up the readers into so much wrath that they literally want to punch a fictional guy! So kudos for that Dr. S Jatwa.
The book starts with our protagonist cruising the roads with his beloved Cadillac, not a care in the world. Then suddenly he is haunted by all these signs from the City of Justice ( sounds so Gotham!!) which tell him to correct his behavior and be a better person. But of course, the arrogant Shekhar, ignores all these important, clues and warnings, only to meet an accident one day which in fact kills him. Now, now.. Of course he is coming back, the book is called Second Chance for a reason!
But as this is a spoiler free review, its for you to find out how.
Moving on, I liked the whole 'Karma' theme that the book portrayed. I am a person who believes in good deeds and good will. I instantly felt myself connect with the message that the book was giving. Our actions always impact our life in some ways or the other. Shekhar's life is no less different. His ill manners and bad personality actually land him in some solid trouble ( City of Justice and then his accident/death!).
Now moving on to more technical terms of the book, I did not like the writing style at all. I know some of you really loved it, and would probably defend it for being very simple and easy. But as an English graduate and currently pursuing Masters in communications (where I have to do editing for my school projects), this is completely unacceptable. Apart from the plethora of grammatical errors and run on sentences which made no sense, the slang was a bit cringy for me. I get it, the writer tried to incorporate real-life language, the way we speak and conduct in the book. But sometimes, you do need to have a bit of flourish, a little bit of taming in to do before sending off to printing. I am not critical of Dr. Jatwa's simplistic language. I love simple writing, but skills are important too. It's clear as daylight that this is the author's very first book, or he wouldn't have made such a rookie mistake.
“A small cottage wherein laughter lives is worth more than a castle full of tears. ”
This is a book which tells us something which we know already but have refused to keep in our minds.
Shekhar is a very good businessman. He is the owner of a big shoe making company. But he refuses to love people and is, thus, not loved by people. Something happens what changes him drastically. As a result, people around him change for him too.
I liked most of the things about this book. The initial few pages were very engrossing as different shades of Shekhar, the protagonist were unveiled. The reader quite becomes interested in knowing what will happen to him next.
The characters are more solid as compared to the plot. I'm not saying the plot ain't good. But the characters simply overshadow everything else in the book. There are emotions which make the characters all the more real. The characters sure did make a great impact on me.
The plot is interesting and shocking things happen in the second half of the book which kept me on the edge. The way in which the logic of all things are explained leaved me satisfied. I was quite worried that I'll be devastated if I didn't get all the answers to the questions raised in the book. But Dr. Jatwa made sure to give a logic to everything that happened in the book.
I won't say that all I feel about the book is positive. In some instances, I felt some things were not required at all. There were a lot of grammatical errors which were impossible to ignore. Then, there were a few pages in the middle of the book when I felt irritated. I was worried that the story is going nowhere. Eventually, the story took off and I was then fully engrossed in the book.
Overall, I'm happy that I read this book and would recommend this book to all. What I personally learned is that we seldom get second chance in life. So, we should all make the most of what we have by loving others and receiving love in return.
must say that after a long time I read this type of book with such a unique concept.
The readers will not just enjoy the book but the book also has the power to make readers think and teach a lesson.
With the changing plot the book unfolds lots of twist and turns. As the new chapter unfolds it seems more interesting.
The most special thing about the book is that how it speaks about love, how love can change someone’s life and how it can change a person from bad to good.
The positive vibes of this book made this book extraordinary.
“No money can give you contentment and happiness. Do what your heart wants and what you will get would be priceless”
The ending part is really too good and full of hope and positivity.
The author narrated all the incidents very carefully and with logical thinking. The narration is too good.
The language is very simple and easy to understand.
The cover is simple, could have been better. The as the narration is too good and the story also, I think it doesn’t matter.
I enjoyed reading the book, it was extremely intriguing and fascinating. What I appreciate the most about this book is the inclusion of the greatest morale in it i.e. Do good karmas and it comes back to you. No good deed goes waste. The first half of the book is good, overall its very fast moving. There might be some instances when the book gets dull and there is a feeling that you might feel that certain things have been overdone. In my opinion, the city of justice part has been over exaggerated, but as I went on with it, it seemed as a crucial inclusion to send out the message. Through the journey of 'Second Chance' Shekhar Kapoor becomes a man you'd despise and hate but by the end of it, you'd start loving him.
"If you were given a second chance, how wouil you change things..." These lines on the cover of the book got me intrigued about it. It was an easy read and had a very fast pace. The author was on to the point very clearly. The story is all about karma and second chances. It gives us a message that what goes around comes around too. It is about the life of a very arrogant business man named Shekhar who committed a lot of misdeeds in his life- which changes all the way around when he receives a mysterious call. Abd then how he was given a second chance to correct his mistakes and all those transformations. I enjoyed the book well but it seemed something was clearly missing here. Things happened too fast. Sometimes things get too fictitious. But in a way, it helped me get something from it that it is never too late to correct your mistakes. Thankyou @Vinfluencers for giving me this review copy and this is my honest opinion about the book.
I literally cried. I liked it very much, it was a wonderful read. In second half, I cried and it was tears of joy. I started the novel and I finished it and something changed in this period, something in me. This book makes you feel alive. It makes you feel love. Loved it.
Language is wonderful and scenes of hell gave me goosebumps. Author would have researched to write the punishments.
Everyone should read it. Must must read. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Shekhar Kapoor is the protagonist of the novel. This novel tells story of his bad conduct with the people around him. He receives several warnings from the City of Justice to stop his wrongdoings but he is a selfish man who only thinks about himself. He thinks his wealth can buy him anything but soon after the final warning, he dies and is introduced to the punishments in hell for all his injustice, discourtesy, misdeed. There he realized that his wealth is of no use, in saving him from unimaginable punishments. To know whether he gets a second chance to correct all his wrongdoings, you must read the book.
This book seem to speak directly to the soul. The book does tell us importance of our every good karma and also about the harsh punishments for our bad karmas. The story tells us that there is no specified date to change for he better. Its a life-changing book that make you question your daily acts and this book will be staying with you long after you've finished reading it. The book, Second Chance will ultimately change something deep inside of you. This story will change the way you think of your wealth, your behaviour with other people including your family, friends, employees and poor and unpriveleged people and everyone around you.
That special something about this book: Easy to read and highly descriptive. This book will inspire you to do good and correct all your wrongdoings. This book has the power to change you. While the story will fade from the front of your mind, it'll never really leave you as the message in this book will stay forever with the reader.
This book left me thinking about my own actions non stop for days after I finished it. Also, I felt that this story has the potential to change a life forever.
The narration style of the author is simple and language is easy to read. I loved the apt title of this book and also the book cover.
I would like to give 4/5 to this interesting read and would recommend it to all readers. I am sure you too would love this intriguing and engaging story. It is indeed an uncommon book.
This review contains spoilers, do not read it if you haven’t read the book yet (or if you are still reading it). I received this book from Vinfluencers in exchange for an honest review. Let’s discuss the positive features first. The best part of the book is off-course the protagonist. The story turned into an emotional roller coaster because of Shekhar. He takes the reader through the full spectrum of emotions ranging from anger, frustration, hate, disgust, dilemma, satisfaction, sorrow to finally happiness.
I hated Shekhar from the beginning of the story. At first I thought maybe there is something hidden in his childhood which turned him into such a monster. But soon it was clear that he was just a spoilt rich brat. I was in fact glad when he died. Nasty fellows like him should always get their comeuppance. What he faced in hell was not enough as his punishment. He should have suffered more because his sense of shame and remorse awakened after he saw the real face of hell.
Though clichéd, I enjoyed his rapid transformation also. The narrative was not dragged too much. By the end of the story I was happy and hopeful. Not for Shekhar but for the other characters whose lives changed for better because of him. My love-hate relationship with this character made the story interesting for me. It reminded me of Tolkein’s quote from Lord of the Rings, “Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.”
That being said, let’s talk about the negative aspects. The plot follows one of the most common clichés of fiction writing which weakened an otherwise good story. As soon as I started reading the book, it felt as if I have read it (or watched it) before. Though I enjoyed the initial introduction of City of Justice with a swanky restaurant and waiting lounge, the description of hell was not something new. There are few grammatical errors in the latter half which disrupted the flow of the story.
What bothered me the most was how all the loose ends were tied too perfectly in the end. I liked the part where Shekhar came back from hell and failed in his first task of saving the beggar. It finally filled him with so much remorse that he worked harder to undo his wrongdoings. But in the end merely to prove that Shekhar has fully repented for his sins, it was revealed that she did not die. Also Unnati’s character was not well defined. She went through an invasive surgery and her boyfriend dumped her at the same time. Yet she never expressed any feeling of sorrow. She instantly moved on to Shekher and started behaving as a much-in-love woman without any hesitation. Their love story should have been developed more.
Overall its a decent story with simple language and profound moral lesson. If you are looking for a quick read then this book is apt for you.
Indian fiction is on the rise. In past months, it is not about the amount of books I have read specifically written by the Indian authors, but the quality of writing style is appreciable.Second Chance by Dr. Sandeep Jatwa is one of them.
Written elegantly, the story is about a successful businessman, Shekhar Kapoor, who's account of good deeds is lacking depth is in negative. For him it is all about money, deceiving and exploiting other person's weaknesses, insulting them and duping them. One day he receives a mysterious telephone call from what is called the City of Justice. Ignoring the cryptic warnings, Shekhar continues to live his life as he pleases, until one day, shortly after insulting a beggar in the street, Shekhar crashes his car and is killed.
And it is only when he is standing before the Bookkeeper who keeps all records of one's deeds whether good or bad and being shown where his life had gone wrong, that Shekhar finally understands what life is all about. Will Shekhar be given the chance to walk on the path of redemption and rectify the wrongs he has done in the past? That is the question this book answers.
The plot has a steady pace and the readers, like me will enjoy that. The events that take folds are represented in the manner of building the story and that really helps to understand the emotion element author has used. The theme of redemption and human morals are touched but not very much in-depth. At some point, after reading it, I think there is no need to go in-depth here, but if the author would have thought likewise, especially when deciphering the scene between the Bookkeeper and our protagonist. It does share some boundaries with Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment as both are based on the single theme of redemption.
The characterisation resembles some realism and has a great amount of display in the second half of the book. The writing style is smooth and there is not a single fault with it.
Overall the book is a quick and engaging read if you looking something to pick up this weekend and finish it in one go. You won't be disappointed.
“Sometimes you need a second chance, because you weren’t quite ready for the first.”
Not everyone has the privilege of getting a second chance in order to correct one’s mistakes and wrongdoings. But if you were given a second chance, How would you change things….?
the Protagonist, Shekhar Kapoor, is the chairman of the leading shoe company Aerowalk. He is an arrogant, egoistic , short-tempered man. His family consists of his servant Manohar and his father Mr Balraj Kapoor, who has been paralyzed from past 10 years. He lost his mother in a car accident.
The story takes us through the journey of Shekhar Kapoor wherein he is portrayed as a person with bad attitude. If he wants anything he’ll go to any extent to get it whether the path is right or wrong. Because of which he destroyed lives of many people.
Eventually after not heeding to the three warnings ( asking Shekhar to mend his ways through a mysterious source) , he meets with an accident and is declared dead for 2 minutes. But in those 2 minutes he meets with the God of justice on his day of judgement and is shown all his wrongdoings and how they effected people. He is made to realize his mistakes and it makes me so happy when he is punished for it. He experiences terrible and horrific scenes of hell where humans are tortured either by peeling their skin off or roasting them in microwave etc.
When he wakes up from his 2 minutes death, he becomes a completely changed man. He corrects all his mistakes and experiences pleasure in helping others.
The plot is an interesting one and keeps you engaged till the very end. Though there are quite a few grammatical errors but overall the book is a good read. The writing is quite good and simple and the story is with a moral.
I enjoyed reading this book. It gives us a message
“A man is born alone and dies alone; and he experiences the good and bad consequences of his karma alone; and he goes alone to hell or the Supreme abode.”

SHORT REVIEW
It's supposed to be read to let the message of KINDNESS sink in and then forget the story but keep the message within. You don't have to remember the characters or the story but the impact with which the moral of the story is presented to you is enough to let it sink in and stay with you forever. That's what I liked the most about this book.
DETAILED REVIEW
Before I start with the review, let me tell you what this book is about(or what i think this book is about)so you have a general idea about the plot and the characters.
The book follows our protagonist a.k.a. main character Shekhar Kapoor who somehow manages to run a very big and renowned shoe company. He has a big staff but interacts with 5 people(only). These people provide him with all the things one needs to run a big company i.e. coffee, files, one night stand, below average ideas(termed as innovative in the book) and a future wife. I mean what else do i need if i have to maintain my company's reputation and position on top of the list of shoe companies being featured in a magazine no one even cares about.
The book starts with Shekhar driving his RAVEN BLACK "some expensive car brand" car to his office and he gets a call that has the potential to change his life forever. It's from the City of Justice. If you don't know about the City of Justice then let me tell you that it's the place where the dead goes to eat something they couldn't when they were alive. What? You don't believe someone can write that? Well, Dr. Sandeep did the unbelievable. Actually it's the place where people go to get a track of the points they have earned by their sins and good deeds after they die so that their punishment and rewards can be decided accordingly(same as we have the points system on buying stuff from malls which we can exchange for stuff).
Shekhar is a proud and arrogant bastard who gets his adrenaline rush by insulting and demoting the only working employee in his office. His favourite employee has managed to enter his good books by providing him with new girls every week for a night. That's one thing you can do to get promoted. Now girls don't be sad. There is more option for you(cuz why should boys have all the fun) and that is to sleep with him but it benefits only the female employees because Shekhar is not gay.So that's one positive point about the character that he is not a sexist(thank god for that).
This is his criterion for choosing potential candidates for promotion and the fact that his company still manages to stay on top of the list proves it to be the best(note that you future business tycoons).
As we read more, we realise that the grammatical errors in the first page of the book are not errors but result of a very bad editor. THEY ARE NOT JUST ON THE FIRST PAGE BUT HAVE BEEN CLEVERLY PUT EVERYWHERE IN THE BOOK SO THAT THE READER ENJOYS FINDING THEM,CORRECTING THEM AND CURSING THE EDITOR. It's all for the pleasure of the reader.
When shekhar sees a beautiful girl, the first thought that comes to his mind is "Doggy style"(charming) and when he dies, it is hard for him to believe that because he was taught that billionaires don't die(not his fault, this education system is so misleading).
He eats Italian Pasta in the city of justice after he dies and then is taken to God of Justice who assigns him his punishments(well, i advise you to skip that part and watch the movie Aparichit so that the punishments are more clear). He has to witness all the punishments allotted to him so that he can decide the 3 he doesn't want to experience(a bonus for good deeds).
But he somehow manages to get a SECOND CHANCE and is sent back to his body to live on Earth and change every blunder he ever made.
The simplicity with which he manages to correct all his mistakes in few days is just amazing. All the people he met in The City of Justice and the 5 people he interacts with in his office are connected. I mean what are the odds of that happening. He cheated the owner of a rival shoe company and insulted the same guy's mother-in-law unknowingly. Who could have thought of that. It takes him a few days(only) to correct everything that earned him 140 plus punishments in hell. WOW!
He gets the girl of his dream and also manages to get proposed by her.She ends her marriage with some guy and proposes Shekhar the same day to MARRY her. Yeah, you got that right.I mean who does that. And they live happily after that.
POSITIVE POINTS
The book teaches us to be kind and helpful. It teaches us the value of positive actions. The first half of the book is just not worth your time but the second half is much better. The positive side of the protagonist is written very well and it's the sole reason i could finish this book. Also, as i mentioned above, the impact of the message is with the right amount of force and makes the reader introspect his actions so far.
NEGATIVE POINTS
When i pick up an English novel, I atleast expect it to be grammatically correct.I mean that's fair, right? This book was a disappointment in terms of the writing and the poor character development. I did not like the main character or any other character as a matter of fact. They all had one thing in common. They were all stupid.
Greetings fellas, I was provided a free copy of the following book by @vinfluencers for a honest and unbiased review. Title: Second Chance Author: Dr Sandeep Jatwa Good reads Ratings: 4.20
One-line review It’s a light, fun and motivating read, perfect for when life is hard and you need inspiration.
Synopsis This book is about Shekhar i.e. “all of us who are money minded today”.It starts with describing Shekhar’s life, how money and his pride, with the grudge against his father, has made him turn a blind eye to his selfish actions. And we all know karma comes all the way back around. This is where the book takes an interesting fantasy twist. After ignoring the warnings he gets from “City of Justice”, courtesy to his arrogance, he finally finds himself dead and in the awe inspiring “city of justice” where his life is reviewed which in turn changes the way he views life, positively. We see his torturous journey through the hell, literally. With all dark humour present, it totally keeps us readers on our toes. Then the second chance is presented, and Shekar learns how to use it wisely, and that’s what we learn from his experience, to live in the moment.
Some lines I had to share
“Do you know what’s the best thing the creator has given you?-It is love” “He liked his life at this moment. He began to smile. He began to cry. He began to feel. He had learned to live.” “He felt, he began to live after his accident , when he cared for others” “He might be in loss but he would not regret it. And he is a businessman he takes risk and it was a beautiful risk.” “You don’t love people for their beauty, you just love them, you don’t love their body, you love their soul.”
The cover
I love the way, our world is represented with earth, with skyscrapers and city lights with a clock falling in the vortex and an eye at the centre. It represents the whole book in one picture, ie our world is all about rising up in those grey buildings and time is passing, while we have forgotten karma comes all the way back around. What I did not like or understand is the tagline on the front page which says “If you were given a second chance, how would you change THINGS”. Yes that word “things”, the novel tells us not to live for things but moments, gets somewhat blurred by the use of this materialistic word. Also on the first page, the book says in “To, All who got a second chance and changed their life” The word changed, did not sit so well with me, because most of the people who want to change or are trying to change would lift this book, and its kind of offputting for them.
Detailed Review
Now maybe because I was reading this book from a critics point of view or just simply because in fiction I tend to relate or imagine myself as the protagonist, I could not miss the flaws, obvious flaws in the storyline. The novel starts with the protagonist driving the car on the highway, at a speed of 104km\hr, I find it odd how soft breeze is blowing through the window pane, I mean physics, please! Or the fact he is reading a shimmering text on his phone, later on talking /screaming while driving on a crowded highway. This and really bad grammar in the first few pages were a total turnoff for me. Many times the word “He” was used for the protagonist and at the same time a second character. It was a tad bit confusing. Also, the physical characteristics of the protagonist were given quite late in the book. By then I already have formed a mental image and then both of them kinda clash. As the story progresses we realise, Shekhar aka the protagonist is a really rich, arrogant rude playboy with father issues and really only focused on himself. Many instances of his callous and self-centred nature have been shown in the book, but then a surprising turn happens in the middle of nowhere when he plays the fairy godmother to few kids while rescuing a puppy. This was way off for the character, so either Shekhar really loves kids (we see him observing kids from his office window many times) or the author is trying to humanise the satan of a character created. Shekar watching pink panther in the confines of his office and laughing like a kid , definitely makes the readers love hence empathize with him. But yes, as I read further, the intriguing storyline definitely pulled me in, and the City of Justice totally enraptured me. It definitely uses the right amount of fantasy world, recreates the afterlife the hell and heaven. Now what I did not like or found difficult to comprehend is that the God Of Justice, is pretty short tempered, I mean he would be meeting so many people like Shekhar in his profession type, that, getting angry at petty mortals for such a common thing, is kind of not really making him a good judge of character.
Warning: now an angry woman is here to rant
The women in this novel were either, promiscuous women who used physical intimacy to get promoted, nagging wife, and then Unnati (Shekar’s mother is also talked about, but I feel her death is blamed/used for the for actions of her son) Now Unnati is an employee at the business by run Shekhar, and her entry in the novel is that of a strong woman who demands why is she not rewarded for her work. Shekar views her as an eye candy and I understand that was to show us his character. But by the end of the novel, Unnati’s fiancee leaves her because she is bald( yes!) And she immediately jumps to marry Shekhar who suddenly realises he too loves her. And that’s the same man who demanded her to be sexual in order to be promoted. Okay, I’ll still take it because romance is not the genre of the novel, but Shekhar makes Unnati feel ashamed of kissing and proposing him, the nerve of the Cassanova. Alright, but what I really don’t get is how easy it was for the writer to make Unnati leave\sacrifice her job and stay at Shekhar’s home to take care of his paralysed father who had been ignored by him for 10 years. And let's see how unnati was accepted in the Shekar family. “She is a good girl, beautiful and decorous.” ‘My daughter is very pretty’ Because that’s what we women aim, not!
Also, the ending leaves me confused, with all good karma and being nice, Shekhar comments in end “Why can’t we do the right thing in the wrong way” Because I feel wrong is still wrong and we should not try to validate it.
But overall the plotline is interesting and has a moral we all humans need, to avoid being sucked into the superficial lifestyle.
The plot of the book is doused in ‘What goes around comes around’ theme. The story digs deep into the meaning of life and how Karma is ever merciless as well as rewarding to one. We have a character who is used to getting his way around with people tagging him under the gargantuan banner of a bully. But Karma has a way of befalling sorrow and grief upon even the richest of souls and this is where lies the nub of the story. I should like to think that the book could have been much better. This book starts off well and is written in a simple language. However I was expecting more of character development & transformation. What works for me though is lucid writing and narration.
"No money can give you contentment and happiness. Do what your heart wants and what you will get would be priceless."

And some more people.
Detailed review : This is a story about a businessman named Shekhar Kapoor, who is good for nothing human ( without emotions and morals ). His behavior is same as that of beasts, cruel and heartless. He did every sort of bad stuff and then one day he died and was punished. Luckily his mother's love saved him and ultimately his personality was completely changed. He became a good human. Kindly read the book for more details.
Negative points : • Writing style wasn't up to the mark. • Grammatical mistakes (the most annoying part). • Conversations were not clearly mentioned. • If you can think that hell is a kitchen, then why can't you write the names of the punishments in the same creative manner.
Positive points : The book teaches us to be a human of values, morals and it also teaches us to be helpful and kind. It teaches us that "as you sow, so shall you reap". The last part of the book is very well written. It's kind of interesting but at the same time boring also. The message is very clearly and very well written, it's influence can be seen on readers.
