A.L. Kessler is an author of paranormal and urban fantasy books and is best known for her “Here Witchy Witchy” series. A self-proclaimed coffee addict, she resides in Colorado Springs with her family and menagerie of animals. When she’s not writing her next book, she loves to read and visit with friends and family.
This is an absolute Kindle Unlimited bargain. The novel is written with a flare of sophistication and a good eye for detail without drowning the novel with extraneous matter. The protagonist, Abbie, is a tough and savvy agent who is dedicated to her job and driven by her ideas of justice. Who says you can't beat the system? Abbie just might.
I'm re-reading this series since it now has more installments. I really enjoy the characters and the "investigation" aspect of this three book volume. The main character is in her late 20s. She is not new to the magic world. She has been raised and trained as a witch. So its not the trope of the magic user not realizing she has powers. She work for the PIB (Paranormal Investigative Bureau). Her job is her primary focus. She is a dedicated agent. She is called into investigations with paranormal characteristics and works closely with human law enforcement. She also has a Vampire guardian who raised and trained her since the age of 4. She has a witch friend and a werewolf friend. She does have new powers evolving. There is an over arching story about the death of her parents which continues in the series arc. Each book has its own mystery with an investigation and resolution. I really like this series and the characters. There is very little romance is this box set. The mysteries themselves are well developed. The crimes are dark. This box set held my interest and kept me reading late into the night.
I am hooked. A powerful witch raised by a vampire. She works for law enforcement, of the paranormal nature. She also works side jobs for her adopted father, the vampire. Sometimes the two interests collide. Throw in a tumultuous werewolf pack and this is one great urban fantasy. Or mystery. Each book has a mystery that is solved, but the ongoing story is about the Witch and how she came to be raised by a vampire. Cool beans.
