In which book 3 is book 1… Fault Lines, the newest release in the techno-thriller series of the same name, fits first in the series chronology. If you’ve read Double Edge, the free ebook prequel, you’ll recognize the first four chapters of Fault Lines, but the rest is all new, expanding on what the prequel set in place, and a highly recommended read.
If you’ve read the previous books, grab this one. If you’re new to the series, dive in here. It’s fast-paced, a great read, and it’s clean. Although Revell is a publisher of Christian fiction, this book has only faint references to faith and would suit readers of all backgrounds.
This is the story of Charlie Hazard, a “risk containment specialist” whose life is upended when a strange and beautiful woman implores him to help her with a mysterious – and dangerous – mission.
Charlie is my favourite type of hero: a strong, competent character who’s over his head but readers know that somehow he’ll find a way to beat the odds. He draws together a team who will need to do the impossible.
The technology at the core of the series doesn’t exist yet, but with the events rooted in the present (or very near future) I hesitate to call it science fiction.
As always, the author’s choice of words and phrases adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the story. Here’s an example:

Thomas Locke has once again offered up an un-put-downable adventure with his latest novel, "Fault Lines". I didn't realize at first that this novel is actually a prequel to the entire "Fault Lines" series, and at first as I dove into the story I wasn't sure if my attention would be held as is usually the case with Locke's novels. But let me assure you that if you have read the other two books in the series, you are going to devour this one! I loved getting to know a whole new side of Charlie Hazard along with the other characters we see in the next two novels.
"Fault Lines" is tightly plotted, often moving at a break-neck pace that left me with no option but to read long into the night. I savoured every word that Locke delivered, from his descriptions of people and places, to the intriguing concepts of characters experiencing out-of-body encounters. Despite being speculative in nature, his writing feels grounded in reality such that I felt like I would be able to step into Charlie's shoes and experience an ascent for myself! I think what I most appreciated about this book in particular is that these characters don't have it all put together perfectly. Rather, they have doubts and struggles, pasts filled with hurts along with the resulting insecurities, all things that readers will be able to relate to. Add in a dash of pure adventure and just plain fun, and by the time I read the final lines I had a smile on my face.
The entire Fault Lines series has been a fantastic experience that is not to be missed, and I plan to come back in the future and read each of them all over again. I have no doubt that I will love them as much the second time round as the first! If you haven't yet had the pleasure of delving into these books, then wait no longer. I award this novel a high rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This book was like a battle of wits on steroids—and by steroids, I mean a combination of spec ops and quantum physics! But don’t worry if quantum physics isn’t your thing. There’s nothing the average person (like me!) can’t understand in this story. All you need to know is that Dr. Gabriella Speciale has discovered a way to separate human sensory awareness from the body by combining and varying different pitch frequencies, allowing a person to be transported through time and space. Simple, huh?! But truly, if I can follow it, you can follow it.
Although this is the third full length novel to be released in this series, chronologically, this book takes place before Trial Run and Flash Point. If you have read the novella Double Edge that released way back in 2015, you will recognise the opening chapters in Fault Lines (and now that I’ve told you, you won’t be sitting there wondering why it seems vaguely familiar, like I was!) Fault Lines gives us the full story of how Charlie Hazard came to be involved with Gabriella’s team, and even the story of why Reese Clawson is determined to obliterate Gabriella’s entire group. And it’s intense!
I’m not going to say anything about the plot. That would be totally spoiling it. But I will say that I love the character of Charlie Hazard. And I promise it’s not because we’re told his late wife described him as ‘an old soul trapped in an underwear model’s body’! (Although you won’t hear me complaining, either!) But Charlie is quietly intense, loyal, and honourable. He has some totally mad skills, thanks to his time as an Army Ranger and training covert operatives on field techniques, and when it comes to a battle of wits, Vizzini would lose before he arrived, and even the Man in Black wouldn’t know what hit him!
The icing on the cake is Thomas Locke’s writing. I find myself highlighting passages simply because of the delicious way he phrases things. It’s what first drew me to his writing, and the main reason why I picked up the first book in this series, despite it being so far out of my usual reading genre.
Just one thing. Please tell me there is another one coming—to continue the story after Flash Point! *bats eyelashes*

Charlie Hazard is a security expert, having been a body guard and more in some of the most critical situations on the globe. Then, a woman approaches him and introduces him to the most cutting edge technology on the globe. Technology that can even give a person a glimpse into the future. Technology some would rather wipe off the face of the earth than allow to hit the markets. Charlie has his work cut out for him if he decides to help them.
Fault Lines. This one was suspense, not my normal read. But it was good. Great, even. The technology that was introduced was fascinating. Can I give a little away? I don't know if it is a kind of tech that can actually be replicated in the real world, though it reminds me of some of the slightly telepathic abilities I've seen in fantasy novels. I can see why the elite business gurus wouldn't want it on the market. It really does wipe out everything they've done to brainwash people into living a life exactly the way they say to. That part was really realistic. I can see the CEOs of some of the largest companies conspiring together how to rule the world. Sounds like a conspiracy theory my uncle once said.
The novel was filled with action, danger, and spattering of romance. Dull moments were few and far between. I enjoyed it. It may not be my usual genre, but it was good and I recommend it.

Charlie Hazard is Jason Bourne on steroids. A serious action hero right down to his awesomely appropriate name. Love his cryptic occupation too -- "risk containment." Multiply what that conjures up by 1000 and you pretty much have an idea of what Fault Lines reads like -- a complex plot with plenty of action including exquisitely choreographed fight scenes. But all that is peppered with surprising pockets of humour too, usually courtesy of Irma and Julio, Charlie's civilian recruits. In fact, there are a host of engaging secondary characters that contribute to the page-turnability of this enthralling read.
Labeled as a 'techno-thriller', be prepared for some detailed 'techno-babble' -- most of which went over my head. I'd recommend not fretting over trying to understand everything right from the start, rather embrace the essence of the story and things will become clearer as the tale progresses. Also Fault Lines is the prequel to previously published, Trial Run (2015) and Flash Point (2016) and I can't help but feel that readers familiar with those stories might get a better grasp of the 'sciency' stuff in this prequel.
The only thing I found lacking was the absence of an inspirational thread and there was such potential for one. It doesn't ruin the story, but I read Christian Fiction (the publisher is Revell) for a reason and I appreciate when a faith thread, no matter how light, is woven into a plot.

I was given a complimentary copy of “Fault Lines” to review as a Christian book. My low rating is based on the fact there is no mention of God; there are no evident themes of redemption, salvation or faith. Possibly it was considered a Christian novel because there is no swearing or sex; however, there is violence.
The characters are well developed and the premise of the book is compelling, though a bit confusing at first trying to understand “ascending” and where everyone fits into the puzzle. But I also found the very end to be confusing with a gap of how a character went from one circumstance to another with no explanation. Maybe the next book, assuming there will be one, will explain this gap but it didn’t leave me the desire to seek out the next book but merely frustrated me. Finally, in the version I reviewed I found a couple of editing errors – one major one being a mix up of character names.

This is the type of book that is usually right up my reading alley. Yet, I had a bit of a difficult time fully embracing the characters. This in turn did not help as I was not as focused as I wanted to be with the storyline. Which, was an interesting one. The experiment that Gabriella was playing at with Charlie was intriguing. It just came down to the fact that I was not very connected with the characters including Reese. She hardly made a blimp on my radar. It was like I was aware I was reading but from the pages to my brain, there was a detour and nothing was truly sticking with me. However, this is a clean book in regards to the fact that there was no sex or cussing. Yes, there was some violence but it was very mild. More like PG-13. Overall, the concept won me over but the characters were lacking.

Deb’s Dozen: The future is the present and becomes the past through Fault Lines
Fault Lines by Thomas Locke is one of the most frustrating yet brilliant series and books I’ve read. I’m a Thomas Locke fan and read everything he writes as the books are released.
So, you can imagine my surprise as I began reading Fault Lines to remember what was going to happen. Déjà vu was in full force. But then, that’s what Fault Lines is all about—seeing the future, watching the future come into the present, and then experiencing the present become the past.
Charlie Hazard, the hero from Trial Run and Flash Point is in action again in Fault Lines. We see our other favorite characters too—Gabriella, the beautiful Italian scientist; Julio, the sassy teen who becomes a man under Charlie’s tutelage; Irma, the retired homicide detective; and the elusive Benny.
Our favorite villains are here as well—Reese Clawson, the immoral blonde bad gal, is back in action trying to take Charlie and Gabriella and their work down.
If you’re a fan of this series, you must read this book—you’ll wonder as I did where in time you are. Five stars, Thomas. A series in reverse—what a strategy!

I wasn't aware there were two other books in the series when I originally signed up to review Fault Lines. Despite being a prequel, I had a difficult time trying to figure out the main plot. For me, the characters felt too wooden, with very little depth to them. The "mind-shifting technology" plot sounds interesting on paper, but it plays out in a very confusing way.
Overall, I was disappointed with Fault Lines. I couldn't connect with the plot or the characters. Maybe I need to read the other two books in the series for me to be able to understand Fault Lines.

Just perfect! Our MC Was just brilliant and just the kind of leader you'd want to follow. I was worried that they wouldn't get out of several impossible situations, but since this is a prequel, I was confident that they somehow would. And did they ever! I even gave a shout at the end!

This book captured my attention in the monthly email from Revell. Toes crossed that my request went in fast enough to capture one of the few available copies. Suspense is high on my list of personal favorite genres. In that regard this book did not disappoint. I have to be honest though, the description on Goodreads did not begin to describe the book I read. The back cover however, a whole lot more interesting.
What if reality is only the edge of possibility?
There isn't much that can throw Charlie Hazard off balance. But the mystery woman with the striking eyes and the intense request to follow her--now--is about to shake his world. Knowing little more than her name, Charlie leaves his post as a guard at the Satellite Beach community center for what he thinks is just another risk-containment job. But Gabriella, an experimental psychologist, has far more in store for him than protection duty--if the two of them survive the test.
Reese Clawson relishes her work at the Combine and all the perks and power that come with it--including the ability to manipulate perceptions. But the Combine never anticipated this mind-shifting technology. If Gabriella's experiments succeed, the Combine would be destroyed. And Reese will never allow that to happen.
I had a little bit of a struggle getting into the book. I didn't get a feel for the scene or the personalities, but before too long I realized it didn't matter. Where it started wasn't important but where it ended was. As the story picked up steam and rolled over me the characters made sense and came to life. Locke did an amazing job creating and blending strong characters with well developed personalities and back stories that held them together. Charlie is former special ops military that is dealing with his own demons and working in 'risk containment' - his words not mine. A random request on a random night will change his path as well as the paths of so many others in ways that can't begin to make sense...until it does. What if the power to change the entire structure of human behavior existed? What if someone figured out how to unlock that huge area of the human brain that goes unused? Reese Clawson and The Combine don't want the world to find out. But can they stop it?
This book held my attention, so much so I died a little inside having to leave the last 50ish pages unread while I went to a pre-scheduled event. I took the book with me knowing I wouldn't get a chance to read but just felt better knowing if there was 2 minutes I would make use of them. It was too close to the end, to close to the action, it was built up and ready to release and I had an event! Relaxing in my bubble the next day however I finished the book and am left wanting ever so much more. How long until the followup book releases again?
Just a note. This book, while from a Christian publishing house is not a faith based book. It is pretty squeaky clean for a suspense thriller. This is no language or sexual content. Even the obligatory violence is not graphic and actually interestingly different and almost comical at times.

Convincing him, through a scientific experiment, to help her cause, Charlie brings in the help of his friend and retired police detective Irma Steeg and Julio, a teen who frequents the community center where Charlie works.
Reese Clawson works for a super secretive group called The Combine, an alleged think tank made up of representatives from many major corporations. Reese heads a security detail whose job is to eliminate anyone or anything that gets in the way of maintaining their greedy corporate culture.
Readers of the first two novels in Locke’s series, which actually occur after “Fault Lines,” will recognize the “ascent” process that occurs in this story — and is at the center of the battle between the two groups. Dealing with chaos theory and quantum physics, Gabriella’s group of scientists seeks to quantify unseen experiences so that they can be measured. Those familiar with the first two novels, “Trial Run” and “Flash Point,” will recognize many of the characters, like Charlie, Gabriella and Reese. This novel will help the reader understand how the story began, and how the characters got to where they were by the end of “Flash Point.” For example, Reese’s extreme hatred toward Charlie in “Flash Point” will make more sense after reading this novel.
“Fault Lines” does feature quite a bit of violence, as the two forces battle each other, but it’s an interesting, intense, high-impact story.

Great stand alone. May be a bit confusing if you’ve read the previous installments.
Charlie Hazard is a security specialist and is very good at his job. One day, a young woman named Gabriella Speciale shows up and throws a wrench into his work and his life. After a high-speed chase when they manage to get away from some rouge bikers, Gabriella talks Charlie into becoming a part of a secret psychological experiment which changes Charlie’s perspective on life. There is corporate opposition that is threatened by what breakthroughs might occur by this group and they are out to put an end to the research and to the team. After relocating the lab from Florida to Europe, Charlie must decide how to best protect his team and to find if he can trust Gabriella.
So, this seemed to be more of a prequel to the first two installments. When reading Trial Run, Charlie is already part of the team and here we get to see his first interactions with Gabriella and see how more of this started. It was a little confusing at first, but then it all started falling into place. Granted, I had to go back and reread Trial Run so that I could remember everything that had gone on previously and I’m glad that I did! I had to put everything b ack into perspective with Charlie, Gabriella, Brett, and of course Reese Clawson. She just keeps reappearing like a bad penny.
This series has been really fun to read as it makes me look at the world differently. What if what they are doing is actually true; being able to have a conscious out of body experience and witness what else is happening in the world would be incredible. If you haven’t started this series, I highly recommend starting with this one and then moving onto Trial Run and Flash Point. It will make it seem like one quick story!

Charlie has battles he has to fight every day. These battles seem so real in his own mind. Soon he becomes involved in something that he wants no part of. Gabriella is also a person he would love to steer clear from but unfortunately that is not the way this mystery will go. He is a security expert and they need his expertise in the field to deal with a secret psychological project. And he will have to work closely with the beautiful Dr. Gabriella Speciale, and even that doesn't prove to be too easy.
Charlie is trying to go over the parameters of this mission within his own head and trying to decide if this beautiful woman is on our side or the enemies, and as the days go by it seems more and more difficult to wrangle within himself. This story is based on mystery and suspense and you won't know whats going on or who to trust. For those fans of suspense this is the book for you!

Charlie Hazard, a security expert, has little idea what he may be in for when he joins a secret psychological project at the request of Dr. Gabriella Speciale. The project could have untold implications on human consciousness itself, but a conspiracy against the project could mean deadly consequences in Fault Lines, a novel by author Thomas Locke.
Before reading this book, it took me a while to figure out that it's the entirety of the story that began in Double Edge, the prequel short to the Fault Lines techno-thriller series. I figure that Fault Lines, as a prequel novel, must read differently to those who've already read the series. In my case, the prequel has certainly whet my appetite for the next novel.
I won't pretend that I totally followed what was going on from the get-go. I had to be patient, which wasn't hard because I trust this author. (Davis Bunn, really—one of my longtime ChristFic faves, who's got a batch of novels under his Locke pseudonym.) My patience was rewarded excellently with this well-woven storyline full of intrigue, danger, and a mix of human connection and disconnect. I can't say that I got too attached to the core characters (well, maybe to one and a half of them), but the extent to which the story got my mental wheels turning makes up for that.
I'm looking forward to going further into this still-new-to-me techno-thriller realm.

After experiencing deja vu while reading the first chapters of FAULT LINES -- it took me a moment or two to realize that I'd read them before in DOUBLE EDGE, a short story prequel released before TRIAL RUN, the first novel in the "Fault Lines" series -- Thomas Locke, having brought readers up to speed on how Charlie Hazard and Dr. Gabriella Speciale first met, doubles down on the danger and intrigue and challenges readers to keep up as he fills in the backstory on not only Charlie and Gabriella, but also Gabriella's husband Byron McLaren, Brett Riffkind, and Reese Clawson.
Locke continues exploring the idea of ascending, separating from the physical body and moving through time and space, and the ramifications of its use for both altruistic and selfish reasons. Locke injects incredible tension into his story through the Combine, an organization of power brokers who seek to use ascending to further their goals for global domination in all areas. Reese Clawson is charged with stopping Charlie, Gabriella, and Gabriella's team of scientists. While it is perhaps too obvious that good is going to triumph over evil, Locke doesn't take the easy way out. He allows his characters to be real in that they argue among themselves, think of leaving the group, and must choose whether or not to fight for their lives and their research.
With non-stop action and forward momentum creating an irresistible combination, FAULT LINES proved itself to be an addictive read. Now I find myself in an uncomfortable limbo as I wait for the next book in the series.

Fault Lines is a novel by Thomas Locke (AKA Davis Bunn). This is the third book is a series that goes beyond this book, and oh my!! This book starts on page 1 and you will not want to put it down, even after it is over!
This is one of the fastest paced books I have read!! I did not read the first two books in the series but feel like it is ok, I do not think I missed much, but I want to read them and plan to get my hands on them as soon as I can!!
I absolutely loved the characters, every one of them! The main character Charlie Hazard is the perfect hero, selfless, competent, handsome and committed. The heroine Gabriella is highly intelligent, sensitive and needs Charlie. The two fit together perfectly, however little to no romance is in this story.
The main theme is psychology and it was very thought provoking! I can’t go into too many details because there are so many twists and turns you just want to read it yourself!! The book is clean and safe for young adults (teens) and I know my boys will love it, but I want to let them start at the beginning once I get the other two books. There is a fourth due out, and you can bet that I will be reading that one too.
I have read other books by Thomas Locke including the Emissary and Merchant of Alyss – he is an author that we all enjoy, he writes amazing stories with strong characters and a page-turning plot!!
I HIGHLY recommend Fault Lines if you are looking for an amazing action story that you will not want to set down!!

A non-stop psychological action book. Why do you read? I personally read for entertainment, something to “take me away” but I also like to learn something, expand my knowledge. This is a book that would make a great movie. Lots of action, beautiful European settings. There is a group of scientists who have discovered a way to tap into the human mind and have an “out of body” experience where you can see into the future. They are up against a powerful company that would like to steal that knowledge and use it for their gain. Lots of danger there, in a fight for their lives. Coming from Baker Publishing I expected this to be a Christian read. Although it is a “clean” story I didn’t find a true Christian tie-in. It’s a good read, very well written, but I found it lacked depth, was disturbing and I did not have a good feeling when finished. I really like Thomas Locke, but I don't think I personally would read the next in line for this series.

The story pushes the boundaries of what we know as reality. Someone tried to convince me years ago that truth is whatever you perceive it to be. This story seems to apply a paraphrase: reality is whatever you perceive it to be. That concept is particularly apropos concerning the ascents that Gabriella and her team made. It boggles the mind to think that something like that would be possible. I had an interesting thought as I was reading. If Thomas Locke can imagine such things for a story, could there actually be scientists and behaviorists who truly believe this or similar concepts and are trying to develop them? For the sake of all of mankind, I trust this is just a great imagination at work developing a super interesting story. The action and suspense are beyond my ability to describe but Locke does an excellent job drawing word pictures. At the risk of repeating myself, I read his books because I respect him as an author who writes for a broad audience and keeps it clean so one does not have to keep the book hidden from young eyes. Many readers of Christian fiction readily recognize the name of Davis Bunn. He writes for the general market as Thomas Locke. I became a fan of Davis Bunn as I was reading his first book. Even though the Thomas Locke books push beyond the limits of my reading preferences, I have found his books to be intriguing. This latest book by him certainly bears that out.

I have always enjoyed a good science fiction book and this story absolutely fits that description!
I will be honest and tell you it took me a bit to figure out what was really going on but the wonderful writing and suspense kept me turning page after page to try and figure out what was happening. It was worth it because this is an exceptional book.
We are introduced to the hero of the book right away. Charlie is a guy that other men want for their best friend and women love because of his strength and loyalty. He's a "risk containment specialist" and he's used to dealing with difficult situations. He also seems to enjoy the risk that comes with these situations.
I also liked Gabriella even though I wasn't sure what was really going on with her. Her experiments are part of the plot that kept me coming back asking, what next? I liked her easy personality and could understand why Charlie would trust her.
This is definitely a story that's "out there", but then, in this genre, that's what makes it extra good. You want to be asking yourself if this could really happen or not. It's a story that keeps your mind turning and I enjoy that a lot. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I enjoyed this book so much but I have to admit that I was a bit confused. I have previously read Double Edge (an ebook prequel to the series), Trial Run, and Flash Point. So I was expecting Fault Lines to be book three in the series. It's not.
Fault Lines is actually book one. (Yes, it was published last but it is really the first.) When I began reading the book I kept thinking I've read this before. It's because I had. Double Edge is covered almost verbatim in chapter one of Fault Lines. The story then continues on giving details that nicely bridge into Trial Run.
So if you're like me and already read what are now books two and three don't worry about reading Fault Lines. You'll have details that you already know but there will be a nice clarity to what is going on. In fact I'm thinking of going back and rereading Trial Run and Flash Point.
If you're new to this series go ahead and skip the ebook and dive right in to Flash Point. You'll be starting at the beginning and I can assure you that you are in for a real treat. I like Thomas Locke's (Davis Bunn) writing and this series is my favorite so far. If you like suspense with a bit of sci-fi elements thrown in this is written for you!

What an incredible journey Locke (T. Davis Bunn) takes the reader on in this speculative suspense book. Starting in a Florida community center with three unlikely allies,with Charlie and his compatriots fleeing to Italy in a quest to expand the boundaries of time and space, Locke's Fault Lines is a very tense and exciting book.
The characters are presented little by little, as different situations occur,then seem to create fault lines as if the story has hit a definite snag or precipice. Eventually, the reader gets a feeling of knowing the characters. Charlie Hazard is former security detail, hand-picked by Gabriella and her group of scientists to provide safety for themselves and the secret work they are hiding from a very powerful enemy, the Combine.
Who is on the side of right, is everyone what he or she seems, and which team has the wits and power to win this "game" of life and death?!

I have yet to meet a Davis Bunn or Thomas Locke book I did not like and this one, Fault Lines, did not disappoint. It is thrilling from page one all the way to the conclusion. While this is a psychological thriller, it is not your typical one. For example, it is not the sort of mind manipulating story that you would expect…and without giving away spoilers, it was unlike anything I had read before.
Charlie Hazard is a man with a story and I look forward to getting to know more of him in the two following books Trail Run and Flash Point.
Fault Lines explores themes I did not expect to find in this Genre. This story is action-packed, and keeps you guessing right to the end when you will want more. That right there is a sign of a good book when you want more. Thankfully the next two books are already out so we don’t have to wait! Whooo hooo!

Fault Lines explores themes I did not expect to find in this Genre. This story is action-packed, and keeps you guessing right to the end when you will want more. That right there is a sign of a good book when you want more. Thankfully the next two books are already out so we don’t have to wait! Whooo hooo!

Fault Lines is a series in which the order of the books is a bit jumbled. Double Edge (free ebook) is the first few chapters of this book. Trial Run is listed as "Fault Lines #1" and Flash Point as "Fault Lines #2". This book, Fault Lines, actually falls prior to Trial Run so it's essentially a prequel. I'm not a fan of books released this way as it tends to lead to confusion. Now that that's out of the way, the actual read was ok although I wasn't able to get into the characters as much as I could in Trial Run. It just felt off, perhaps because of the release order. I wasn't sold on the motives behind Gabriella's actions and I felt a bit of disconnect with Reese. Overall, the writing is good but it wasn't anything I'd be excited to share. I received an ARC through Revell in exchange for an honest review.

Fault Lines by Thomas Locke is fascinating thriller. Instantly, I was hooked. The story is about mind-shifting technology that one can destroy and another is fighting to keep alive. Danger, risks, and a mystery that propelled me from my chair into the book. The plot was well-developed and built up the intensity as the pages were flipped. Two main characters, Charlie and Gaberiella brought this tale to life. Charlie is in the line of protection duty while Gabriella is a psychologist who takes him deeper into a deadly scenario. My heart raced. The threats felt real. The novel reminded me of the fast-paced Bourne Series. Overall, I recommend this thrilling title to readers worldwide.

Fault Lines by Thomas Locke is a page turning, fast pace, hook line and sinker kind of book that will have you up till all hours of the night. It is a fascinating thriller if these are the kinds of books that you like. With danger, risk, mystery and a intense story line, you'll find yourself immersed in a thick plot line with well developed characters and deadly scenes. Imagine a psychologist and a security expert? This book will sure peak your interest as the Charlie and Gabriella are brought to life. I give this book a 4.5 / 5 stars. A favorable review was not require. I haven't read anything by this author so I was excited to try a new book. Unfortunately I didn't read the book description very well because I don't care for "psychological thriller" books. I had a hard time getting into the characters and plot.
From the first chapter it seemed unrealistic and weird to me that Charlie would get into a vehicle with a strange woman and drive to a secret, undisclosed location. I read about half the book before I just put it away.

Fault Lines by Thomas Locke is the newest book in the Fault lines series. It's also a prequel.
The first chapter is the same as the short e-novella, Double Edge.
The novel is fast paced and action packed. But it lacks suspense. Because I already know what happens next. I don't have to worry about giving away spoilers about this book.
If you've read Trial run and Flash Point then you already know the truly important facts of this story. The story of how Charlie Hazard joined the team and why Reese Clawson is their enemy.
To those of you who have not started Trial Run (book 1) ignore the one on its cover and read this book first instead. You will get much more out of it that way.

FAULT LINES by Thomas Locke is a very suspenseful novel that will truly keep you on the edge of your seat. Locke creates a world like no other with amazing life-like settings and an unbelievable plot line that is true to hold you captive til the very end. The characters are well-developed with very intriguing back stories that are sure to draw you in with each page you read. I found this to be a very suspenseful read that had me wondering what was wanting for me to discover on the next page. A true page turner with all the twists, turns and unexpected surprises along the way.

Fault Lines was my first foray into Thomas Locke’s writing. While science fiction is not my normal reading pleasure, I was intrigued and fascinated by this story line. The narrative began a bit slowly for me, but it steadily gained momentum with each turn of the page. Thomas Locke blends science and technology in a techno-thriller that is sure to engage and entertain fans of the genre. I enjoyed this cleverly crafted tale and look forward to reading more of the Fault Lines series.
