It Seemed Like A Simple Bet, But It Changed Everything
After a lifetime of bets with his best friends, he made the one bet that would change his life forever. It seemed simple enough. Get married. Make it last. Win a car.
He’s A Billionaire That Has It All
He didn't even care about winning. What does a billionaire bachelor need with a car? He was living a charmed life. Why would he need bragging rights? He was cool and confident. Bragging was not his style. As far as he was concerned, he wasn't even one of the players. This was all about helping a friend heal.
Then He Met Her
He forgot all about the damn bet the moment he laid eyes on Kate. From then on all he wanted was to kiss Kate, have Kate, marry Kate. Of course, he never considered what he could lose if he won the bet.
How else was she going to parlay her two favorite past times into a career?
Emma is single and loving it. Like her first character, Alysin, Sin for short, she doesn't believe in settling or in settling down. She loves to indulge in her passions whenever the mood strikes and enjoys keeping all of life's cliche moments spicy.
Known for her sense of humor, Emma surrounds herself with friends whose antics often become the source of book fodder. Her ideal situation would be to explore the Caribbean while writing. She pursues that dream daily.
The book starts with three friends in their 30s- deciding to get married as one of their relatives die. Ty, the hero, gets cheated on by his 4 year long girlfriend on the same day decided to take a trip to Vegas. At the same time, he gets a an order from his father to acquire a hotel. Our heroine Kate manages her deadbeat dad's Vegas hotel without even an ounce of gratitude. When three guests invade her solitude, one of them decides to pursue her. And that's the story. I actually felt no chemistry between the leads, the book had no sex, and honestly I couldn't connect to the book at all. Safe 1.5/5

˃˃˃ The Bet is the first in the sexy, enticing “The Players” series. It will leave you wanting more!
I'm already anEmia Nichols fan. The Bet fit right in with the wit, characterization, romantic thrill, and steam she always delivers. Type, a spoiled, wealthy, handsome and sexy guys guy, is dispatched by his father to purchase a specific Vegas casino. The casino is owned by the father of Kate, a 30-year old daughter under the domineering thumb of her crotchety father not interested in sling his legacy. It only takes a few days for Kate to form a solid space in Ty's stony-but-lonely heart, and vice versa. Things between them move rather speedily, but the passion and desire is quite evident. A lovely read of how quickly love can entwined a couple when least expected.
This is the first Emma Nichols book that I didn't fall in love with. It was short, but went way to fast into EVERYTHING.
End up I bed right away....CHECK. Fall in love after 3 days...CHECK it just wasn't realistic. Then when the girls father is in the hospital preparing for surgery, they decide to get married. After all they are in Vegas!!
This was a boy meets girl, girl doesn't want boy. She is the bet meet a girl marry and stay married for one year and win a car. This is all about friends who bet on everything. He wiggles his way into girls heart they marry and his secret comes out. This secret could shatter her heart and tear apart a beautiful marriage and love. She forgives they live happily ever after.
Read this as part of an on-going project to help a friend develop a booklist for her group, Adult Children fo Parents with PTSD. In these three books, though, it is the men who are the victims of benign neglect.
Three obscenely wealthy men have been best friends since the cradle. The title of the series is "The Players" but none of them seem to be playboys. Two of them are quite hard workers, actually and the hero of The Bet, Ty, has been in a monogamous relationship for four years until he finds his live-in girlfriend getting it on with the pool boy. Yes, a cliche.
Ty's dad decides he wants to add a Las Vegas boutique hotel to his company's holdings. Ty works for his father, negotiating all the tricky buyouts. This is apparently quite kucrativeThe other two men decide to accompany Ty to Vegas for reasons I didn't quite understand. They make some sort of bet over a fancy car and who gets married. Ty meets Kate, the hotel owner's daughter and marries her before the weekend is over, despite the heart attack her dad just had.
Harry, hero of the Mark, is an independent filmmaker. I don't quite understand how he became filthy rich making indies, but he did. Harry's main occupation seems to be taking care of their other friend, Drew, who has a drinking problem. Harry meets Laney, the accountant reviewing the hotel's books and before the weekend is over they are living together in a house Harry bought so that together they could keep Drew sober. Harry is quite the enabler which Laney recognizes because her mom had a drinking problem and watched all of her mother's husbands enable her. So Laney knows all about enabling and she won't put up with it. Which begs the question why move in with Harry when she already knew he enabled Drew?
Drew is the hero of The Gamble and he has been in and out o rehab and also does drugs. Talia is a Dreamer, brought to the USA as a child from Poland, getting a Master's in Counseling but works two jobs as a cocktail waitress and a blackjack dealer, Since that is not the name of an actual degree in that field, I think Nichols needs to do some research. Her sister died in tragic circumstances causeing a terrible fatal car accident while driving under the infuence. Her parents enabled the sister so Talia knows all about it. Laney decides that before she will have Drew at her wedding to Harry, Ty needs to hire a sobriety coach. They decide $300,000.00 is fair pay and Takia, working the bar where they have this discussion volunteers because she is qualified. Not.
This author apparently knows nothing at all about alcoholism, drug addiction, sobriety coaches, Dreamers beyond what she might have gleaned from a cursory reading of the news or watching bad movies. It's a pity she didn't spend some time watching Elementary in its early years because she would have learned exactly what a sobriety coach might be like.
I also don't understand why these are three separate books when they should have just been one. The love stores are unconvincing. A waste of time.
I thought finally I'll get to read a good book after a series of really boring books but guess what, this disappointed me like no other.I read it in a single sitting. This has got to be the worst idea any author can come up to.The kind of plot she wrote is totally unrealistic, which kind of happens in our dreams or when we were 7 years old with no idea about the real world. She could have done a lot to the storyline without cutting it off.I mean, how can a guy and a women fall in love after they slept together and then even proceeded to get married while her father was in the hospital. And at last the father accepts them and expose the bet.But then the unrealistic couple even solve it.Wow.
Sooo....happily ever married after barely knowing each other three days.....ummmm, no.....talk about insta-love. Smart, level-headed Kate has sex on Sunday, unprotected, with Ty, who she JUST MET the night before for a nano-second...then marries him on Tuesday....and he says he loves her...again....no..just didn't buy any of it, her Dad, his Dad, his ex, his disappearing friends, and the bet...totally irrelevent.
Tyler finds himself in Vagus with his two best friends for the weekend, for them ,but business is keeping him behind. His father wants to buy a hotel with a casino. But Tyler has an instant attraction to Kate who he doesn't know is the owner's daughter. Things soon warm up between them but can they get past her father and his plans for his business.
The story of Kate the daughter of a hotel owner in Las Vegas who lost her mum tragically and Tyler the son of a tycoon who is sent to buy the hotel Kate's father owns. The story unfolds both sweetly and romantically with the instant attraction between them. There is obstacles along the way. However, this is a must read five star quick read.
Shallow, rushed, and mostly unbelievable. The bedroom scenes start off good and then we're waking up and it's all over except for some cute banter. None of the men in the story would even know what a player was, much less being one. Predictable plot. It's a romantic short story and that's about it. I caught myself dozing at times.
Cute book. Easy read. Rushed timeframe; the whole book took place in less than a week. Billionaire bachelors betting on love. Typos and some syntax errors but not enough to distract from the book.
Best fairy tale story line I have read! The situations, the characters, and the ending I positively loved it. There was so much depth in those characters that they seemed real and engaging. Wonderful job!
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series a really enjoyable read
Kate and Ty have a strong connection immediately and their spur of the moment wedding was no real surprise but how easily they got past her fathers defenses afterwards was.
A short and fast contemporary romance that has been on my reader for a bit but now I have finally read it glad I did.
This is a fun story! Ty makes a bet with his friends on who will get married first. He then meets and falls for Kate. This was insta-love at its best! I'm looking forward to reading more in this series!
Predictable. I might have bumped it to 4 stars if the father hadn't been truly obnoxious. He had no redeeming qualities at all, and in fact, based on his actions I would have concluded that didn't like his daughter, much less love her.
The Bet by Emma Nichols is book number one of the new Player's series. This book was very well written and was a very quick read. While hanging out with his two best friends his one was depressed because of the death of his great uncle. This depression lead the three to make a trip to Vegas which then lead to a bet about getting married. Kate is stuck helping to run her father's casino in Vegas and it is her least favorite thing to do. Fate has a way of making everything work out! There was no violence and some sexual content. I LOVED this book.
I really don't know how the author does it. she gets you hooked from the first page to the last. Ty billionaire playboy and Kate the workaholic. She puts her own dreams on hold of being a designer to help her father run his hotel. she has no time for dating let alone love. But then she meets Ty and he feels the instant connection. Ty lived with his ex for 4 years and never once thought of forever with her. but after meeting Kate after a few days can't see his future without her in it. I love the saying "when in Vegas" and the crazy stories people have from being in Vegas. Ty and Kate are right up there. even tough they are fictional I still love their story. Ty goes to Vegas first to help Drew feel better but then it turns into a business trip but ends with wife. I love how natural Ty and Kates relationship started and grew. it was so believable. it makes you believe in love at first sight. What I also loved about their story was not once did Ty think of "the bet" he truly did fall for Kate.
The Bet by Emma Nichols is the first book of the new Player's series. I found this book to be a quick fun read. The main characters are well written and believable. Love at first sight for Ty and Kate? You need to read to find out. I loved this book and can't wait for the next book in this series. Ms Nichols never disappoints. I highly recommend this book.
Enjoyable quick read. The story flowed well, and Ty & Kate are very likable. Ty is not like the normal billionaire playboy either. The story pulls you in, with some unseen turns of events. The ending felt a bit rushed though.
The Bet is a thoroughly enjoyable short read. At first, I thought Ty was a prick but I quickly changed my mind. He is a romantic at heart. All he needed was to meet the right woman. I felt sorry for Kate. It had to be hard never being good enough for her father. I loved the way she stood up to him. She wasn't a doormat. I also loved that she followed her passion in her spare time and was very successful at it.
I would love to read more about Ty and Kate. What are they going to do to make their HEA work? Do they stay in Vegas? So much more to explore with this couple.
I look forward to reading the rest of The Players Series. I recommend you read Emma Nichols' books. I've read several and recommend all of them.
