Book 5 Stockton Wolves Series

Special Agent Niclas Draig was on a mission...well, he was supposed to be. But when sent to Stockton with his partner Jack, to investigate what looked like the work of a serial killer, he walked into the Captain's office and found himself looking at his mate. A mate, who's delicious scent was tinged with deceit as the man looked him in the eye and lied to his face.

Captain Anthony Reynolds was getting tired of the way paranormals played fast and loose with the law and his life. Eighteen months from retirement, the last thing he expected when the FBI came in was to have such a physical reaction to one of the agents. When the same agent blasts him two weeks later for lying, Tony knew his life was going to change. He'd been around paranormals enough to know exactly what the word mate meant. But that didn't mean he had to accept it.

An unguarded moment, a flash of teeth and both men's lives change. Their mating causes problems from every angle and...an unexpected bonus. An abduction, a bomb and Nico's interfering family - will Nico and Tony ever get their HEA?

I loved this book. It's a wonderful ending to this series. It has everything that I love in a book. There is a dragon and his horde, a mate who is a silver fox but...wait, he gets the surprise of his life. There is meddlesome dragon family, Stockton pack and friends with benefits thrown in the mix. And guess what? The best part is that everyone gets their happy ever after. There are no cliffhangers, everything wrapped up nice and tight. Plenty of intrigue and humor, romance and passion and just plain good cheer! I loved it! I highly recommend it.

P.S. This is MPreg romance so be in the know. :-)

This was a really nice romance of two older mates who each had to work through a lot of life baggage and history. The mating/breeding process and necessary continuous physical presence for dragon mates was different and a nice change to the traditional furry shifter story.

I call this series Ms. Oliver's "Coming Out and Gay For You" series. In this book, much of the story centered around Tony coming out at work and the impact it had on his job as police captain. Tony's issue was not publically admitting his sexuality, it was losing his job and pension since he had devoted much of his life and wrapped his self identity to LE.

The story was fairly busy as characters from the previous installments got involved along with Nico and Tony's families. There was a kidnapping action plot that rallied the shifter troops and showcased their abilities. It was a good wrap up for the series, creating new relationships plus intertwining existing ones.

A major disappointment was the mpreg. It was completely glossed over. That, along with being at the end of the book, made it feel as though Ms. Oliver threw it in at the last minute. This was in direct contrast to her recent book and impressive first foray into mpreg A Tiger's Tale.

Another downer was that Nico's dragon breath totally rejuvenated Tony from age 52 to 25. I was looking forward to a middle aged human mate - a healthy, disease-free, robust 52 year old silver fox would have been ideal.

Seeing v being part of

A good and unexpected way to wrap up the Stockton Wolves! Tony has always been in the outskirts of these stories from his position at work and the connection to the shifters (which he didn't initially know) working for him. Now we learn about his unexpected past, his connection to the paranormal, and of course a mate for him. There are some complicated family circumstances on both sides; Tony with a family he had to give up, Nico with a family that can be a bit overbearing and are unusual shifters. With a rocky start and figuring out working out their lives and their jobs it isn't an easy journey but it does give hope for more for both men. A very sweet ending to this series!

Nooooo!

First I'm not ready for this series to be over!! But hot damn the captain got himself a dragon. I didn't see that one coming but loved it. But that special little something that I also didn't see coming. The crazies just love that city. Can I have a dragon in my life like Nico. I'm happy with the ending but still I want more from my Stockton Wolves.

Tell Me The Truth By Lisa Oliver

I'm thrilled the author decided to go one book beyond her intended end of series and give Captain Anthony Reynolds his own story. After all he's dealt with when it comes to shifters and vampires it felt good to see he got a shifter of his own too.

Unfortunately right off the bat there is something that took away from the book. The beginning of the book starts several weeks after they first met. We're missing the whole experience of them meeting and working together as well as Special Agent Niclas Draig calling Tony a liar and telling Tony they're mates. So we don't get to experience the beginning of their relationship. It just jumps into it after the fact. That's a huge experience that we as readers are missing out on that could have helped bring us closer to the main characters and help us relate to them better and quicker.

I still loved the book though and was even thrilled Tony's son got a shifter of his own. I was really hoping for that throughout the book. I loved Nico's family. They brought a lot of the same happiness and brightness to the book that Kalel does to all the books.

A quick overview... The book is in both Tony and Nico's POV. The angst is low level. There's police and shifter action throughout.

This one is my favorite in the series. It was nice to see all the previous characters, but Tony & Nico owned their story. I'm glad I didn't know what kind of shifter Nico was before I started reading. The reveal was done perfectly, as well as the characterization.

The book was interesting and engaging. The only thing I'm not fond of was the plot related to Tony's job, but everything else worked great. It's worth reading the series just to read this installment.

4.5 'Have thoroughly enjoyed this series and am gutted its over. Was so looking forward to seeing Robert and his powerful dragon mate go back to meet his arsehole family and put them in their place. Nico and Tony were delicious, and HOT literally. Dragon fire, now that's one sexy concept' stars.

5 well deserved stars, direct to my favorite omegaverse books.
I was afraid when I read the age gap on the MCs knowing that even if Anthony will never age they will always have those 30 year gap, so when the dragon fire coated Anthony inside and he got younger I was really freaking happy, the books is really long but this helped for most of the plot to be well developed with all the things happening, honestly it was so easy to read that I didn't noticed it have more than 3 hundred pages.
Nico and their dragon were so fun to read, how they talked to each other and the dragon going all diva some times, the fact that he is the one in the relatioinship getting pregnant was the cherry on top, the dragon shifters were so different to the other species and it added a lot to the story.
Tony deserved his HEA, the way he lost his family because of fated mates hurt, so I felt so happy for him when he knew his lover was pregnant, the scene was heartwarming because his life was getting complicated.
Once again we missed seeing the MCs wedding, I wanted so bad to read about it because I know that all of the pair get married but we never get to read about it.
The only bad thing I found on this book was... that everyone and their dogs got a HEA, the fated mates were on a sale or what? I felt so forced for Jack and Robert to get their dragon mates, it was a little out of place and both of their plots were dimissed easily, specially Jack's one.
This together with BBQ, Bikes, and Bears are my favorites on this shifter universe that I've come to love, I'm gonna spend this holiday weekend reading more books from the same author.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Tell Me The Truth is about Captain Anthony Reynolds (aka Tony) and Special Agent Niclas Draig (aka Nico). I like this one for many reasons, it has dragons in it, it drops lots of surprises in the readers laps, its funny, and it is hilarious to see an older mate being brought down a peg or two by their younger mate (especially when the older mate can be a bit arrogant at times).

My favorite parts of this book are when the younger mate tells the older one what for. Usually along the lines of telling his mate to grow up and start acting his age. Of course, the older one seems to trip over his tongue with everything he tries to say to his mate. It gets him into so much trouble when what he wants to say comes out wrong and ends up offending his mate.

I won’t put in any more detail because I wouldn’t want to spoil this series for those of you who haven’t read it yet. All I will finish by saying is, Lisa Oliver is a brilliant writer and I urge you all to add her to your to be read now list.

A very highly recommended series 5*s. If I could give more I would.

4.5 stars!

It is sad to see this series end, but there is so many connected series of this one out there. I have read this one twice, and I liked it more the second time around. As usual with fated mate stories, both Nico & Tony don't hang about. The Mating was done accidently, but they move along quickly after that. They do have a few teething pains, mainly due to Nico not explaining aspects of their mating properly to Tony. If not for those fellow paranormals around them, they could of found navigating a mating harder. They do learn to communicate better, and that helps them to move things along better.

There are a few problems for them, mainly outside forces. I really needed Jack to back off, even if Nico did need to use his words better to explain things to him. I loved their family, both blood and Found. It was good to see that everyone has a happy ending, even the side characters from this one. I found Nico's mum lovely, and I was glad she was there to explain certain things to him. Especially their little suprise!

Good ending to a series

Such a good couole to end this series with. Tony and Nico are both in law enforcement and when Nico realizes that the sexy silver fox police chief is his mate, he doesn’t know what to do at first. He can tell Tony is lying to him about something. But he doesn't understand why.... so he confronts him, and lets slip that he's, his mate. Tony is worried because he looks so much older than Nico...age gaps are difficult for humans. Then Nico's ex makes things even more difficult....will these two ever catch a break.

Tony and Nico are amazing

It was very clear that I skipped some books in the series. So it took a while to get into the story and Tony really annoyed me. He was so blunt and harsh with a very negative attitude, but he had a point: communicating wasn't Nico's best asset. But luckily Tony became more understanding and there was a distraction of the love/mating spats when Tony's son came to visit and went missing.
But it all felt a bit rushed.
And I still can't stand the narrator...

Interesting ending to the series

Nico and Tony Seemed to have had the easiest mating out of everyone in this series. They had a problem or two that came from a lack of information on both sides and a serious ex who didn't take no for an answer.

This book was a lot of fun to read. It was entertaining to see the author once again pull a random threat out of her hat that didn't seem to have anything to do with the actual storyline. Just buckle up and ride it out.

Wow I really enjoyed this book.

For me this was the best book in the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a good series that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys MM shifter romance. What I liked most was the diverse range of shifters and vampires on and maybe a dragon or two. Recommended.

Great story!

I found this book after I read the one before it, Don't Bite. I wanted to read this to find out how the Captain's love story went and I was not disappointed. I loved everything about it. I enjoyed how his sons love life was addressed as well. As well as Jack's , who you'll meet in this story.
Excellent ending to the Stockton Wolves series.

Enjoyable Reading

I have enjoyed all the books in this series. Just like all the other books, this was written very good and the reading was enjoyable. I was trying to find more characters so that their stories could be told. That's just how wonderful this book and all the others are written.

Audio-book: Audio quality: Good, Narration:Good
Warning: MPREG
The story itself is predicable. There are some entertaining moments but so are boring ones. There are too many coincidences and the logic used in presenting conflicts as well as resolutions is extremely simplistic and flawed.
And finally Robert's ending was too lame and unsatisfactory for my taste.

Fabulous finish to a fun series

I've loved every book in this series. I read the short story of book 1 when it was published in mm anthology of summer reads. Once I located the entire book there was no going back. This was as unexpected but fun as the last one. Pulling out all the surprises, good job. I re-read this series several times a year

So...
This is what happens when you're a mood reader and you're in a specific mood for a specific kind of books -here the guilty pleasure kind that are Lisa Oliver's books- and when that mood passes.

I'm not in the "right" mood anymore and I can see how bad the book is. And I cannot find any good redeemable quality about it.
