Un anno dopo sono io a supplicarla di non andare.

Ho provato a resistere, a tenerla lontana.

Ma nessuno si salva, neanche un bastardo egoista come il sottoscritto.
Per me è sempre esistito solo lo sport e la mia famiglia, fratelli idioti compresi. Fino a quella sera, quella in cui ho preso la decisione peggiore della mia vita. E ne sto ancora pagando il prezzo.
Lo stiamo pagando entrambi.
Ma ora è arrivato il momento di rimediare, di rischiare tutto, di convincerla a lasciarmi entrare, perché lei non può essere che mia.

I libri della serie precedente della Senese mi erano piaciuti molto ma questo...
No, mi spiace.
L'unica cosa che mi veniva in mente era "Ma quanto è pesante?"
Pesante la trama, i personaggi e anche lo stile.
Ho trovato il tutto troppo ripetitivo, una serie di inutili drammi, un piangersi addosso continuo.
La voglia di dare uno scrollone fortissimo a Ian e Riley.
Ti voglio, non lasciarmi, non posso, non ti merito....

Ian by A. S. Kelly is book One in The O'Connor Brothers Series. This is the story of Ian and Riley who have been dancing around their feelings. Ian has been knocked off his socks from their first meeting when Riley 'saved him' from a lady at a party. Ian knows that Riley is someone you have to be all in for but due to his reason he not ready until he finds that he is. I enjoyed reading their story and that this touched on his father who was going through a loss in his health.

A.S. Kelly does another amazing job with this book.
Ian is a professional Rugby player and Riley works in a Cinema which I think is pretty awesome. At some moments they seem like an unlikely pair because of there differences but the fact that Riley’s brother is the one that gets them back together is really sweet of him. Ian has an interesting back story and one interesting family dynamic. I love that about him.
I loved Ian he was just someone that I wanted to go into the book and just be able to give him a hug.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see what happens with Ryan.

Meravigliosamente e sublimemente bellissimo! Ho letto quasi tutte le opere dell'autrice e la seguo costantemente dalla precedente serie, bravissima. Quello che A.S. Kelly crea è qualcosa che non si può descrivere, solo provare per credere. Per questo motivo vi consiglio di leggere assolutamente questo romanzo, la storia di Ian & Riley. Durante la lettura, infatti, il dolore dei protagonisti per il loro passato mi ha completamente risucchiata da perdere la cognizione di spazio e tempo. Non riuscivo a staccarmi dall'eReader.

Ogni volta con gli uomini di questa autrice è sempre un colpo di fulmine, come quelli dei libri passati anche Ian scava un posto nel tuo cuore e sai che non andrà mai via.
Lui e la sua Riley sono anime ferite e offese dalla vita , che pur donando tutto per chi amano non riescono a riconoscere e credere a qualcuno che li ama, ci saranno lacrime, rabbia, dolore, negazione e tristezza ma poi riconoscersi sarà meraviglioso ........oltre ai due protagonisti questo romanzo ci farà conoscere tanti personaggi stupendi che so che ameremo nei prossimi libri che spero di poter leggere al più presto.

Ian e Riley, due destini che si incrociano, due vite spezzate che hanno alle spalle un passato ingombrante che ne influenza il futuro. Sono sbagliati insieme, ma lontani sono anche peggio. È la storia di due persone forti, ma allo stesso tempo fragili.
"Si volta lentamente sollevando gli occhi su di me e quando mi lascio attirare nel vuoto del suo sguardo, tutto quello che ho cercato di tenere insieme in questi mesi crolla in un istante, come un castello di carte sotto un sospiro troppo profondo".
Ian è un giocatore di rugby che ama la sua famiglia e farebbe di tutto per loro, così come anche i suoi fratelli che si sono divisi e sono andati ognuno per la loro strada, ma c'è qualcosa di urgente e brutto che richiede la loro presenza a casa. Il padre peggiora sempre più, ha bisogno della sua famiglia accanto soprattutto nei giorni no. Ian fa di tutto per loro, si è accollato tutto sulle sue spalle, ma non sempre è facile, non sempre affrontare le cose da solo è positivo. Ma lui cerca in tutti i modi di farcela e di non pensare a lei… colei che ha stravolto il suo mondo anni prima. Ma lui non può averla. È troppo per uno come lui. Ryley gli è entrata sottopelle, ma non è cosi forte da riuscire ad affrontare le conseguenze e così la allontana.
Ryley, ragazza solitaria, ha solo Jamie al mondo, le fa da madre e da padre. È sempre stato così. È grazie a lei se è riuscito a voltare pagina ed affrontare tutto con una forza nuova. Lei è spezzata dentro e fuori, ne ha passate troppe, non può mostrarsi per ciò che è. Deve fingere con se stessa e gli altri che va tutto bene, che la vita finalmente, dopo anni di buio, vede un po’ di luce, ma lui è sempre lì in agguato… il suo cuore percepisce la sua presenza, nonostante lei faccia di tutto per nasconderlo. Si mostra arrabbiata e ferita nei suoi confronti. Non può dimenticare. Ma Jamie, il fratello, è di un altro avviso. Cerca in tutti i modi di farli incontrare e di farli riavvicinare.

Entrambi cercano di tenersi alla larga ma c'è sempre qualcosa che li fa unire come un magnete potente. Si cercano, si trovano, ma inevitabilmente il passato torna a bussare prepotente alla porta e li divide. C'è troppa rabbia e orgoglio. Sono entrambi forti e non cedono, non riescono a fidarsi l'uno dell'altra.
Questa è una storia di seconde possibilità, in cui la vita dà e toglie, in cui l'amore fa da padrone e neanche davanti ai caratteri più duri cede, anzi abbatte le corazze all'apparenza indistruttibili. Vi ritroverete davanti ad un saliscendi di emozioni forti che vi faranno girar la testa, ma sarete lì con il fiato in sospeso per le vicende narrate. È una storia di una passione travolgente, letale, un mix di rabbia e attrazione reciproca che li porterà a scontrarsi, ma anche ad amarsi profondamente.
La loro attrazione sfocerà in incontri mozzafiato carichi di erotismo.
Ho avuto conferma della bravura della scrittrice che già mi aveva colpito con la serie precedente. Ora sono curiosa di conoscere le altre storie, sicura che avranno lo stesso impatto emotivo. Complimenti per aver dato vita a questa particolare e travolgente storia d'amore e di rivincita.

Ho sperato fino alla fine che si riprendesse, perché l'inizio era promettente. E invece niente da fare...
Non amo i libri che calcano la mano, li trovo "troppo", troppo di tutto, troppe emozioni estreme, troppi drammi, troppi tira e molla.
Mi stancano, mi annoiano. Sono come una corda tenuta perennemente in tensione. Peccato, perché tolti tutti i fottutamente e dannatamente vari, trovo che l'autrice scriva molto bene, in modo incisivo, di forte impatto.
Proverò con l'altra serie, perché vorrei capire se è stata questa storia a non prendermi o se è proprio il suo modo di raccontare che non mi tocca il cuore.

Audiobook Review:
Ian (The O'Connor Brothers, Book One) is a sport romance about a rugby player, written in dual pov set in Ireland, UK. The writing style is a little divergent and takes time to get into it. We were brought into the narrative without any detailed history, so it felt a bit vague. Intricate morsels of perplex moments are intricately weaved throughout the narrative. Once you find your momemtum its smooth sailing the rest way through to the end. Flashbacks going back to different times in history and back to the present day gives you a glimpse into the characters personalities. The family dynamics of The O'Connor's was a intriguing part of this audiobook. Unexpected twists seep through the pages leaves you astonished. Ian and Ryley are complex and so is their relationship. Their romance oscillated Into intense moments of fizzle. Supporting character's bring into the mix more theatrics and wittiness. The ending wrapped up with a sprightly epilogue. Looking forward to listening to other books in this series about the other O'Connor brothers.
Narators Ashley Taylor & Daniel Knight duet narration of Ian gives you the aura of being in Ireland, bringing the character's and narrative into existence.
Daniel Knight performance of an irish brogue was on the nail. I could picture all the O'Connor brothers sitting at a irish pub arguing about Rugby with their friends. However, at times it felt like he was speaking in monotone, and reading lines instead of actually performing them. Although, most of the naration was the pov of Ian, Ashley's performance of Ryley delivered all the right vibes. Riley's sentiments were voiced in a realistic way. Her voice is sweet and joie de vivre to listen to.

4 star Review Ian (The O’Connor Brothers #1) by A.S. Kelly
Audio Review:
A.S.Kelly is a new author to me as are the narrators Ashley Taylor and Daniel Knight. I really enjoyed listening to the narrators as they told this emotional and at times angsty story. Their performances certainly enhanced my enjoyment and I could have listed to Daniel Knight all day, his accent is amazing.
Ian O’Connor is a man with a lot of baggage and does not trust easily. Told in dual point of view with suet narration, the author moves from the present to the past throughout this story. I will say that at times I got myself a little confused whilst listening, you really need to concentrate as I found myself rewinding on occasion.
The woman that Ian falls for Riley Murphy has her own secrets which have damaged her and there were times that my heart broke for both of them. Both Ian and Riley have issues that I thought would end their relationship before it really got a chance, their insecurities and feelings of self loathing were heartbreaking. An emotional roller coaster of a story that really tugged at the heart strings.
I did feel a couple of times that the story dragged a little and was a touch repetitive. However having said that the secondary characters were also entertaining and I look forward to their stories in the future.

Ian: O’Connor Brothers by A.S. Kelly was okay read at best. It was hard for me as a reader to get into. I had to make myself finish reading this book. The pace of the book was too slow for me and it kept going back to the past too much for me.
The book begins with Ian in the bar with his best friend and teammate Jamie. Ian is a professional Rugby player. This is when he meets Riley, which is Jamie’s sister. Now back to the present, Ian and Riley see each other again when Jamie is hurt during a rugby match. The chemistry is still there between the pair and something happened between the pair to make Riley distrust Ian so much. Ian has the weight of the world on his shoulders because he is the peacemaker in his family.
Do Riley and Ian give in to the chemistry that is still burning bright between them? Do Riley and Ian get their happy ever after? You will have to read Ian by A.S. Kelly to find out. Ian has all that the reader would want in a romance. It has love, passion, and romance.

Well that was an emotional tornado if there ever was one. Not in such a long time have I been a little gutted by a story, but this one delivered in spades. Ian is almost tortured by his demons and they lead him to giving up the best thing he had going for him. Now he’s decided that come heartbreak or elation he was going to win Riley back. Riley hasn’t asked for much in her life, but she did ask Ian to stay. After he left, it was heartbreak city and with few pleasant memories to keep her company. Ian’s back begging now, and it’s hard to resist a man that holds her heart.

This story was a little difficult for me to get into. I started and stopped twice before finally getting to the point where it captured my interest and I enjoyed it.
The twist and turns and lack of history is a little frustrating at first. However once you get into it you are hooked. Ian is an athlete with some darkness behind him. He has some issues at home that play into that. Riley is a strong girl. At first she was lively and seemed like a fun person to be around then sh seemed a little hurt and dark like Ian.
This read feels like a slow burn with twists and turns that will keep you turning the page. I recommend.

Troppi passaggi avanti e indietro negli anni, oggi, 3 anni fa, oggi, due anni fa, oggi 15 anni fa...
difficile per me non iniziare una serie dal primo libro, ma per fortuna questa volta è andata così...e meno male, fossi partita da qui non so se gli avrei dato un'altra possibilità, ma avendo letto uno dei successivi credo proprio che migliorerà.

Questo libro è incredibile e mai scontato!!! La scrittura è fluida, non si legge si divora dal desiderio di sapere come va a finire. Ogni sentimento ironia, odio, paura e amore è reale. I protagonisti, Ian e Riley, ti catapultato nelle loro vite e ti rendono partecipi dei loro sentimenti. Ogni personaggio, anche quelli marginali, è eccezionale e indispensabile. Lo consiglio vivamente, come ogni libro di questa favolosa scrittrice.

Peccato.
L’ho ripreso dopo mesi, proprio perché non riuscivo ad andare avanti, infastidita dal continuo tira e molla e “vorrei ma non posso” e... due balle così.
Purtroppo non è migliorato ed e un peccato perché l’autrice scrive molto bene e la storia dei fratelli O’Connor, e soprattutto quella di Ian, bambino trascurato e infelice, rimasto solo e adottato in non più tenera età, meritava più attenzione e particolari, per riuscire a brillare di più.
Non credo proprio che continuerò la serie.
L’ho ripreso dopo mesi, proprio perché non riuscivo ad andare avanti, infastidita dal continuo tira e molla e “vorrei ma non posso” e... due balle così.

Romance and Fantasy for Cosmopolitan Girls
In quante aspettavano l'uscita di questo romanzo autopubblicato di A.S. Kelly?
Da quello che ho visto bazzicando e chiacchierando su FB siete davvero tantissime e lasciate che vi dica una cosa: l'attesa merita ogni capitolo. Ho avuto il piacere di recensire questo romanzo, dopo l'assegnazione, attratta dalla cover e dalla breve citazione sulla copertina e poi diciamolo chiaramente... questa è un immagine che guarderesti all'infinito. Solo una volta ho letto e recensito un romanzo di questa scrittrice, quelle che mi conoscono sanno che non sono solita leggere e o recensire romanzi self ma questa volta la scrittrice è riuscita ad attirarmi e non sono rimasta delusa come l'altra volta, anzi sono molto soddisfatta di questa lettura. Non voglio svelarvi troppo di questo romanzo e togliervi la bellezza della lettura e la scoperta dei protagonisti.
Iniziamo quindi subito con la recensione. Le vicende si svolgono a Dublino, i protagonisti sono Ian e Riley. Il romanzo si apre proprio con il protagonista.
Ian è un O'Connor, un giocatore di rugby ed è uno strafico pazzesco... Di lui ho amato ogni aspetto, il suo tormento interiore, la sua forza e il suo carattere e le sue parti spezzate. Amo in modo particolare i romanzi dove la maggior parte dei capitoli sono narrati dal protagonista maschile, carichi di testosterone e hanno quella giusta verve nei dialoghi. Dialoghi che non mi hanno mai annoiata ma anzi mi hanno portata a voler sapere. Come vi dicevo prima Ian è un O'Connor e in questo romanzo conosceremo la sua famiglia, i suoi amici e i suoi fratelli, che spero avremmo il piacere di conoscere meglio: Ryan e Nick.
Jake le parla all'orecchio e lei sorride di nuovo: bocca, occhi, viso. Tutta. Lei sorride tutta. E le mie gambe tremano.
Non ci sarà nessuno nella sua vita. Nessuno che non sia io. E stavolta andrò fino in fondo.
Fratelli che non si rivolgono più la parola ma che Ian riunirà. Lui è il pilastro della famiglia O'Connor, è il secondogenito ed è il più saggio peccato che non riesca a usare quella saggezza quando si tratta di sentimenti... Infatti Ian vieta a se stesso di amare per paura di rovinare la cosa più bella che gli sia mai capitata: Riley. Non ha alcuna intenzione questo ragazzo di far prendere le decisioni al proprio cuore... Riley è la sorella di un amico e compagno di squadra di Ian: Jamie. Non ha mai portato a termine gli studi e lavora per una compagnia teatrale. Riley e Ian si conosceranno una sera a una festa dove lei lo salverà da una donna... Ora Ian è in debito con lei, ma Riley non sa che il loro stare insieme, la loro storia non porterà a nulla di buono... Entrambi sono rotti... Ian prova qualcosa di molto forte nei confronti di Riley ma questa ha paura, quel sentimento la spaventa ma il tormento sulla sua vita passata potrebbe distruggere entrambi ed è l'ultima cosa che vuole dal momento che ha faticato a cercare di rimettere insieme i pezzi.
Ho commesso lo sbaglio più grande che potessi fare, ma ora, cazzo, sono qui per rimediare.

"Io... io non posso dartelo."
"E allora non voglio niente."
Questo è un romanzo che mi ha incuriosito e fatto arrivare al "Finalmente" dopo molti capitoli ma ne è valsa la pena. Dal capitolo 33 il mio interesse verso la storia si è acceso ancora di più. Era partito con una valutazione da 5 questo romanzo, poi è passato a un 3 per via di tormenti dei protagonisti ripetitivi e alla fine... 5. Ian è davvero un bel protagonista e alcune parti che riportano al passato ci aiuta a capire meglio i protagonisti, a scoprirli. Insieme supereranno difficoltà e dovranno fare i conti con le parole non dette. A dare la giusta combinazione ci saranno le scene giuste di sesso.
Consiglio la lettura di questo romanzo.

This is the first book I have read/listened to by A.S. Kelly, but it definitely won’t be the last. I can’t wait to find out what the other O’Connor brothers stories are.
This story had me on an emotional roller coaster, reaching for my tissues one minute, then wanting to throw my iPad across the room and ultimately laughing and rooting for Ian and Riley to figure it all out.
This was also my first book with Ashley Taylor and Daniel Knight as narrators. I loved both of their voices and the accents were wonderful. They really brought the characters to life. I’m definitely putting them on my to be listened to narrators list.
This book was a joy to read/listen to and I look forward to the rest of the O’Connors stories.

The meat of the story was good, the characters were beautifully flawed and broken, but the book was entirely too long!!!!! It just felt like the same situation kept happening over and over, making the read very sluggish.
I wanted to know more about the pasts of both main characters. The author beat around the bush too much about their traumatic upbringings given the limited amount of reveal that ended up taking place in the story. I needed more details so that I could understand the characters better and feel more compassion for them.
I’m left intrigued about the other O’Connor brothers but after seeing that the other books are just as long, I’m hesitant to bother.

QUALCHE SPOILERINO....
In realtà siamo più verso un due e mezzo, ma tirato. Fino al 70% mi sono fracassata il cervello per i salti temporali e il più delle volte mi chiedevo in che punto della storia fossimo. Soprattutto all'inizio, mi perdevo tra una frase detta e l'altra perché tra le due risposte ci sparavamo 40 righe di paturnie psicologiche.
Per poi parlare dei problemi loro. Se su Ian sono d'accordo, la profonda negatività di Riley mi ha rotto le palle. Sei riuscita nel tuo intento di salvare tuo fratello, hai una vita tua, tuo padre è schiattato in malo modo... e fatti una ragione e vai avanti. Queste protagoniste con la sindrome del vittimismo hanno spaccato le palle.
E poi il tocco finale... MEGA SPOILER EH!!!
La gravidanza... come se i figli fossero un bel regalino che ti fai quando tutto va già a rotoli. Anche per questa scelta, molte autrici mi hanno rotto.
Troppi passaggi lacunosi lasciati in sospeso. Per poi essere ripresi e poi lasciati e poi ripresi.

The storylines and characters she created are interesting and draws you right in, compelling you to want to know more of what is going on and where is it leading. Each of the two leads, Ian and Riley, are harboring secrets and skeletons in their closets. They are broken in their own ways, yet they are drawn to each other, neither thinking they are good enough for the other. Their relationship is an angsty rollercoaster ride, when it progresses to the next level, it is like they take one step forward then two steps back. A lot goes on in this book, there is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns and two broken souls trying to get past the barriers placed around their heart and allow themselves to love and be loved. I adored Ian’s family, his loving parents as well as brothers Nick and Ryan, glad to see they are getting their own books, also glad to see Riley’s brother Jaime is getting his own book too. A.S Kelly, thank you for this great story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, narrated by the talented Ashely Taylor & Daniel Knight. They are terrific voice performers and storytellers, they brought these characters to life, gave each their own voice and personality. You could hear the characters emotions and the drama of the story projected in to their performance. They are a great duet team and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧

Sports romances always intrigue me. Athletes have such a stressful training program, there never seems to be enough time for a relationship. Ian O'Connor, rugby player, knows how difficult,it is to,balance life. But that is not what keeps him from the love of,his life, Riley. Riley is his best friend Ryan's sister, and this is not what keeps them apart! There is an incredible back story to this player that held him up, and now with his advances, Riley is not trusting his feelings. This push pull, sexually charged romance will keep you in your toes. It's my first A. S. Kelly book, and her style is like no other. The book is written in flashback style, and at times, while confusing about which time period we are in, the history of both Riley and Ian is so important that it has to be told. Ian is tortured and this makes him both frustrating and endearing, Riley is vulnerable and hesitant. Will these two find their way? Give this a listen and you will the. Want to hear Ryan's story next!
The narration of this story is by Ashley Taylor and new narrator Daniel Knight. Knight has the majority of the story and his Irish brogue is swoon worthy. A little more emotion and differences between voices would be something I would like, but I really enjoyed his pace and his voice is sexy. Seconda lettura e due stelline guadagnate.
Devo essere sincera quando ho letto Ian per la prima volta avevo dato due stelle, ma non per demerito della storia che nonostante le due stelline mi era rimasta più che impressa ed in senso positivo, ma perché non ero riuscita a barcamenarmi bene tra i vari salti temporali e le dinamiche che accadono. Rileggerlo ora a distanza di quasi un anno e dopo aver comunque proseguito tutta la serie (non fermatevi e continuatela), mi ha permesso di affrontarlo con una diversa consapevolezza e di apprezzarlo davvero nella sua totalità. Ian e Riley sono tutto fuorché due personaggi semplici, hanno avuto il peggio dalla vita e non sempre quel peggio viene superato, o viene superato facilmente e credo che questo sia in realtà il punto di forza di questa storia, anche se il più criticato. I continui salti temporali e i parallelismi tra presente e passato ci permettono in realtà di capire fino in fondo quanto siano feriti nel profondo i due protagonisti e quanto sia difficile fidarsi l'uno dell'altro, trovarsi e ritrovarsi. Ripeto ho avuto anch'io le difficoltà che molti lamentano, ma sono felice della verosimiglianza di questi personaggi, di queste storie, di questi problemi e di questi bei momenti e anche di qualche siparietto divertente (gli o'connor e affiliati quando si ci mettono sanno essere esilaranti).
Sono felice di averlo riletto.

My God this book.... nobody has made me cry more with her work as much as A.S. Kelly has done in the 3 books I've read so far. I'm not sure I like that very much (kidding).
This one is simply AMAZING. I'm trying really hard to find words to write a review that will explain how much this book broke my heart before it got taped back together. This story is about two people who have lost so much in their life and are doing everything they can to put on the brave face for the word while suffering on the inside.
They both got issues that run deep and being together feels just right even when they can't explain why. I liked Riley but to say I loved Ian is an understatement of the year. That broken beautiful man can run straight into my arms any time he wants.
"I don't want to be a distraction from your loneliness. I don't want to be the last drop of emptiness that fills you. I don't want to be something you look for to hide away from the rest of the world. I just want you to be mine!" *swoon*.
I'm a HUGE fan and I'm so looking forward to seeing next O'Connor finding his happiness.

Ian is a professional Rugby player, who tries to keep his family together, so feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. It's really put a hold on his love life, although he's carrying a torch for a girl named Riley, his best friend & teammate's sister. By the time this story started, they've already been through the ringer, as both have terrible past demons, but this time, he is determined to make her stay, while she's determined to keep him away. So yeah, you can imagine the ultimate angst that A.S. Kelly has put me through, at times it seemed like I was going to throw my kindle across the room for real. Then, I wanted to actually shake these two because of the insane amounts of stubbornness displayed, as it was too much at times. Yeah, the push & pull was OMG intense, and so frustrating to the extreme. But, their chemistry was crazy hot, when they weren't punishing each other, or was that what made the sheets catch fire? You will have to decide for yourselves. There's a cast of secondaries who added more drama, and luckily, so much needed humor to the mix as well. And finally, some twists for me to drop f-bombs at the top of my lungs. So that's all from me, so I'll end with HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!

I feel like this had the potential to be a very powerful story. And, in ways, it really was. There were some very prominent parts that kept it from reaching its full potential. I do want to say that I really enjoyed the fact that it was told in two different perspectives. I do feel like there were places that the writing gets a little rushed.
I wanted to like the characters. I really did. I mean you have to feel for somebody that has a troubled past and just keeps on going. It's a given. There are people that have the strength of many but never show how much they hurt. That's the two main characters! It's just that they get so childish and unbearable! Maybe I'm just being a stickler and over-analyzing.
The narrators were okay. I really enjoyed the female narrator. She did a terrific job. The male narrator just kind of seemed a bit bored with the narration. It felt like he was very choppy or like he was talking through a tunnel. He did have a very nice voice, though.
I did enjoy this book. I can't say it was a favorite. I'm debating on continuing the series. It seems like it's more of a stand-alone series than an actual series. I reiterate what I said. It is a story that has a lot of potential. It was a nice read.

A word of advice: don't start this book if you've got something else planned, because once you start you won't be able to put it down. It might be a good idea to have a couple of tissues close by as well, there are some emotional moments. There were times I struggled with the story, only because it felt like I should have already known these characters, the way certain events and people were introduced and described. But the further I got into the book, the more everything began to come together. I'll admit I was on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what had happened between Riley and Ian and why she harbored such negative feelings towards him, and what was going on with him that had him so anti-people. Both of their back stories are horrible, yet each one is something that could (and has) happened to everyday, real life people. So that helped to make this story seem so much more realistic. I gotta say though, I was worried about how things would turn out for Riley and Ian, since even close to the end there was still drama and angst between them, but I liked how the story wrapped up, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading from this author. I had to stop reading a couple of times. This book is highly emotional. It pulls at every single heart strong you have. Ian is a Rugby player. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders trying to keep his family together. His love life is nonexistent but he is carrying a large torch for his teammate and friends sister Riley. But he left her. Riley has struggled all her life. She is strong it has her own painful story. You start this story with both of them already feeling the worst pain possibly. But he wants to make her safe and she doesn't want anything to do with him. Immediately you are hit with emotions. This is a very emotional book. The writer did amazing writing this one. You can feel everything both of these characters go through.There are some twists in this storyline that had me wanting to throw my kindle. But this was an amazing storyline from beginning to end. She pulled me in and had me on the edge until the end. I can't wait to read more. Hopefully we get the brothers story. Highly recommend . Fair warning have a box of tissues and chocolate.

Audiobook Review
Ian is a sports romance set in Ireland and told in dual POV, Ian & Riley. Ian plays Rugby and Riley is the sister to one of his teammates, Jamie. It took a little bit to really get into this story, but once i got a little more history as to what was going on, I was hooked. It’s a friends, to enemies to lovers romance.
Riley and Ian met in bar for the first time. They became the best of friends. Riley wanted more, Ian said NO. He’s regretted it everyday. Riley is back because Jamie got injured, and Ian wants her back. Riley
These two both had it rough when they were younger. It’s hard to trust, and when that trust is broken...it’s not easy to take that leap again. Ian is trying to fix his family and Riley’s been on her own for so long, she can’t remember what having a family feels like.

This was actually my first audiobook I have listened to that is dual narrated. It was pretty darn good! My only complaint is that sometimes the male characters voices (not Ian) sounded robotic. Other than that, the accents were on point!

Se vi piacciono gli amori tormentati, le storie difficili che fino alla fine vi faranno sospirare e temere il peggio, A.S. Kelly ha scritto la storia che fa per voi.
Due protagonisti che valgono più di quello che credono, che insieme fanno infuocare le pagine ma che non sono pronti per la felicità.
Un libro di redenzione, di seconde occasioni e di famiglia, non quella convenzionale ma quella del cuore.
La storia è raccontata da entrambi i punti di vista dei due protagonisti, una cosa che mi piace molto perchè rende partecipe il lettore di tutti i sentimenti narrati.
Quello di Ian all'inizio mi suonava un po' strano per il tipo di linguaggio che utilizzava, ma una volta entrata nella sua testa di govane uomo dedito allo sport, ogni parola è andata al suo posto e Ian dritto al mio cuore.
Un ragazzo che vuole vendersi agli altri, a Riley per quello che in raltà non è, vuole far credere di essere un bastardo, ma... lascio a voi scoprire cos'è.
