As a royal in the Ancient Court, Nic’s life is planned out for him. Those plans do NOT include falling in love with a human…
18-year-old Macy Moreno meant to spend a few months backpacking around Europe. Instead, she’s ended up in an ancient castle belonging to international soccer sensation Nicolo Buonaccorsi. Macy thought it might be fun to meet a celebrity — especially one as hot as Nicolo, but things at Nic’s house are a bit… strange. For one thing, she’s only one of many girls there, and all the others seem to be under some sort of spell. And while their exotic “hosts” are generous and intensely beautiful, they’re also a little terrifying. They keep promising the girls they’ll get to meet the handsome and wealthy sports star — but they don’t deliver. Macy is done with the whole bizarre situation and ready to hit the road again. But her life takes a thrilling and startling turn when she catches the eye of the mysterious and alluring Nicolo — and learns the truth about him and the Ancient Court's Hidden Game...

Author's note: The Ancient Court trilogy is a subset within the Hidden Saga. It is set in the same world and features many of the characters Hidden fans know and love from the previous books as well as introducing new characters from the mysterious Ancient Court in Europe. If you've read the earlier Hidden Saga books, you'll be entranced by the continuing story. If you haven't, then HIDDEN GAME is the perfect point to jump into the Hidden world, and you won't be lost or confused by the storyline.
I love writing, and I love LOVE. I've been writing seriously since 2010 and have written 35 books (and counting!) Most of them are YA and NA romantic fantasy. There's a dash of paranormal and dystopian romance in my book list as well.
I'm honored to be an Amazon bestseller and multi-award winning author of the bestselling Hidden Saga, which is a 10-book Fae fantasy romance series, the heart-pounding Crimson Accord vampire romance series.
My new Romantasy series, Age of Fae, begins with A Court Bright and Broken, which released on Valentine's Day 2025. Book 2, A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant comes out May 23rd 2025!
I live in Rhode Island where I write in my car at the beach year round and sometimes crave the heat and humidity of Mississippi, where I grew up. I love hearing from my readers! Reach out and say hi anytime.
Wow!!! Fans of Amy Patrick will not be disappointed with Hidden Game. New characters blend easily with familiar ones and the cliffhanger....snykies Waiting won't be too long but it will be too long. So happy to have this in my library.
Amy Patrick did not disappoint! Hidden Game ended way to soon. I couldn't put this one down, just like all of her other books! I'm really, really looking forward to book 2.
I NEED the next book in this series! Now! I love Amy Patrick's Hidden series more than ever! The characters are amazing and strong and the dialog is awesome! You are missing out if you haven't read this series!
Omg! Each book gets better and better! I can not put these books down. The ancient court saga is even more captivating than the hidden deep saga! I seriously can not wait until I start the next book.
Loved it. Again was very happy I loved it as much as previous books even though it's new characters. Nox made an appearance so that was nice. and wait o dig into the next one. Highly recommended
I really liked this book. Was free during a deal, downloaded it, read it. Loved the spin on the fae interacting with the regular world. Character development was good, I got a nice picture in my head of the story and characters and felt involved as a reader. Liked it so much I got the other two books. Now I am itching to discover the beginning of the Hidden Saga series.
Macy and Nik what a great first story!! He is an elf and she is well that remains to be seen. No spoilers here. Macy is a tiny American girl who's love used to be gymnastics, until tragedy strikes. Nic is a legend in the soccer (European Football) world. Loved and idolized by thousands of fans. Unfortunately Macy gets unknowingly gets caught up in a fan pod while backpacking through France. She meets Nic and slowly they begin to become attracted to each other. The story has great twists and turns, heart stopping action, sorrow, deception, life threatening scenes and even an evil doctor bent on the destruction of the human race. The Dark Court of Elves are in on the plan, but Nic and Macy aren't. A wonderful love story at the start, but will it continue? Amy Patrick is once again at her best!
I so recommend this book and the others in The Hidden series. They are heart wrenching, fist tightening and keep you at the of your seat. These are must read books! I'm now going on to the next one Hidden Magic! What are ya'll waiting on? Go grab these books! Amy Patrick you're the best!
It showed up in my on my kindle because I read books simler to this and I like these kinds of books I loved the twilight books its basically based on that type of book but not its 1000 percent worth to read
Well, I read it. I’m wondering if I should have just stopped at the end of Culley’s story.
We’re now spending time with the ancient dark courts of Europe, specifically Nic who lives in Corsica. Nic’s elven family are royalty, and he is betrothed to Alessia, elven royalty from the European mainland and Culley Rune’s former fiancé.
Let’s face it, she is a total nightmare and the humiliation of Culley tossing her aside to bond with a human girl has not helped.
Nic, a pro football (soccer) player has just won his team the World Cup and he’s finally flying back to the family home in Corsica. It is there he meets Macy, an American backpacker who had no intention of becoming part of his fan pod, but is unable to leave now that she’s been tricked onto the palace grounds.
Macy, unable to be Swayed, is a breath of fresh air and he finds himself wanting to know more. Upon hearing she wants to leave, however, he is happy to drive her to the mainland and to replace her passport which has inexplicably gone missing.
Thus starts a budding romance… it’s cute and all, but the fact that there is a lot going on behind the scenes at the family home leaves me feeling it’s more Stockholm Syndrome rather than true love… but that’s just me. Plenty of sweetness and twitterpation, but the ending is one big old mess.
We do spend some time with Nox and the band (we learn more of Anders here and I hope we get glimpses into Matteus and Rolf before the series ends). The problem for me is it’s another massive leap to why yet another human isn’t the worst choice for our elf boy to be with and it’s also a time jump that I found annoying because we’re caught up with a quick recap of a paragraph.
Nothing against the author, but I hate time jumps tossed into a very linear story timeline… and recaps? I hate those with a passion.
So no, there isn’t anything specifically wrong, just a few stumbling blocks for me. Both Nic and Macy are interesting characters and both are written with compelling backstories, it’s just me getting in my own way from enjoying this one more. Sadly, with the ending we now have a new villain stepping up with a serious chip on their shoulder and a (to them anyway) very valid reason to see the human race obliterated from the earth more than the baddies we’ve seen before now.
I don't know why but I did not like Nic or Macy. They just annoyed me. Nic just seemed like all he cared about was having sex with Macy and that's all he thought about.
As for Macy she literally went from barely knowing Nic to being 'in love' with him in two days! I don't know why this bugged me so much because I feel I've read other cheesy love stories where this happens but this didn't work for me. Maybe because their 'love' story felt so fake and was just based on physical attraction. I felt there was zero substance to their relationship.
I just couldn't like Macy or Nic. I hated them so much, that's the best way to explain it.
The only reason this book gets two stars instead of one was because the ancient court story was really interesting to me. That's was kept me reading because I had to know more about this court and what was going on. I really liked that part of the story, and I do want to know how it all works out. But I just can't handle anymore Macy and Nic. Blech. So I probably won't be reading the rest of this series. Which is sad because aside from the love story the rest of the book was really interesting and great.
Nic and Macy’s story is just beginning once meeting in her attempt to escape his European fan pod. Nic is bethroed to Alessia, who was once bethroed to Culley before falling in love with Laney, and is now faced being embarrassed once again by yet another man falling for a human. In this exciting story of how Nic and Macy come to discover their love for each other, there are loads of twists and scares along the way.
Definitely much more exciting than the darkness, dark and desire books of the saga. I loved it. It’s my favorite series, of the saga, the games trifecta. I love it so much and then you get to heir and it’s like weirdly dark considering how light the previous books were and yeah. those r my two cents. 🪙 🪙

Heartfelt story that has good characters, action, mystery, romance and heartache. Only downsides is this was too short and in a few places the plot did not seem feasible. Still a page Turner and good read.
This story gets your heart beating fast. It takes you to unexpected places. The plot is good, characters are interesting, and there is a lot of action. What can make a better story? I look forward to reading book 2.
This book was good but it wasn't nearly as good as any of the previous books. I'm still going to read the next one in the series, but I was disappointed.
I feel like I say this every time. Maybe I do. But I’m OBSESSED with this book. Probably my favorite from the saga. Idk they are all AMAZINGZ. I’m going to be heartbroken when I’ve read them all
Nothing wrong with this one, it just didn't hold my interest. I kept reading other stuff in between before I got around to finishing it. I think the love story happened too quickly.
A wonderful additon to the Hidden Saga we now get the Dark Fae from across the pond. Unknown to Nic, a football star from Corsica, his family of fae has something sinister in the works. One of his fans within the fan pod has connected with him better than anyone else, ever. Macy has faced tragedy in her life and chose to backpack through Europe to escape, until a random chance to meet a star crosses her path. The two of them have a huge fireworks connection, but he is betrothed and she is human. The romance is forbidden but beautiful. If you have been following the other series you already have an understanding of the fae, the light and the dark, and their ongoing struggles with fan pods. If not, no worries the story is easy to follow and quick to read. Fair warning, this one ends in a cliffhanger. Thanks to the author for my advanced copy, I have voluntarily written this review to support the book.
