Young, vulnerable, naIve. Twenty two year old Michelle Nicholson had no idea how to deal with the strange and menacing stranger who seemed to be taking over her life. He had sucked friends and family into believing his fantasy that he was a good, kind man, trying to offer Michelle a better life. But beneath the faCade lurked a dangerous and deadly psychopath, hell bent on revenge for Michelle's rejection of him.
Twenty four years later, still fighting to clear her name, Michelle tells, with raw honesty, the true and horrifying story of the murder of her beloved father and how she was framed for that murder, losing her youth, her young daughter, her freedom and almost her sanity.
Heartbreaking story, I hope Michelle goes on to clearing her name. Found the story extremely moving, especially been born and still living in the same town that Michelle lived in. Recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book is the story of Michelle Nicholson who spent 14 and a half years in prison for a horrendous crime which she didn't commit. It tells of the close relationship that she had with her father and the heart breaking way that her mother treated her. It tells of her chaotic life, not by her choice, but caused by those around her, this is the life that many people live and have no choice about, it is just the society in which they live. It tells of the brutal murder of her father and the way she was framed for it. It tells of how she was mistreated by the police and the criminal justice system. It tells of the psychological trauma that she sustained and which no-one helped her with. It tells of her time in prison and eventual release. It's a shocking and heartbreaking story, but one that needed to be told, not just for Michelle, but for the sake of all those prisoners wrongly accused and all the women imprisoned due in some part to the chaotic life they live. It opens your eyes to things that perhaps you will have never been aware of. It's a brilliant book and I highly recommend it.
It's not been edited to a very high standard, so there are parts that don't flow as well as they could have done and there are typos. But don't let this put you off reading it.
