For two hundred years, Jenna has managed to avoid playing in the light, making it a point to hunt only The Darkness, it’s been safer that way. Besides, who’s going to miss a few murderers and rapists?
Luc is exactly the kind of someone Jenna knows she should stay away from. But even the most conscientious vampire can’t fight fate. And fate has plans for Jenna and Luc. Plans that will entwine them in something bigger than themselves. Something that will change them both in ways they never imagined.
Fate will bind them together. And together, they will discover who they were always destined to be.
I used to read a lot of fantasy and science fiction growing up. As an adult I haven't read nearly as much, but this story pulled me in, and I am anxious to see where Bella Rose will take this series. Ms. Rose weaves an intriguing story of Luc and Jenna and their fated journey. Jenna is a vampire with a conscience, she only hunts dark characters, eliminating them from human society. She tends to be solitary, however, when she runs into Luc, she is unexpectedly drawn to him, though she doesn't feel worthy of having a relationship. She tries to fight the attraction but Luc refuses to let her run from their attraction. Fate is a heavy factor in this novel, their meeting and attraction is fated, foretold by the wise ones of the past. Everyone in this story has a secret. Jenna has no clue to her past or her family, while Luc knows his mother but she harbors secrets that are life-changing for him. The secondary characters are not who they seem to be, but they play into the prophecy that will change the world. I was drawn to the characters, especially Luc. The banter between Luc and Jenna is enjoyable, and I I loved the two older women who know the secrets but keep them hidden until the time is right. There are changes coming and depending on Luc and Jenna, survival might not be assured.
I absolutely enjoyed every word in this book! I found that I wasn't trying to guess what would happen next, I sat silent in the background following the story as it moved along! The characters were well thought out, and fun to read! I found this book quite intriguing and cant wait to read the next of the series!
After an intriguing start with a heroine I absolutely liked and her quest to snuff out darkness but then the story got a bit confusing and lost me a bit. The hero is a good guy, simple, innocent and gets drawn into the "storm" that is brewing without any knowledge, not even about what he is. Might be necessary, but I felt for him, there was a lot for him to take in, much more than for her. Henry was one of my favorite side characters and I am looking foward to reading more about him in the sequel.
Jenna is a vampire who kills bad guys to feed her habit. She works alone and doesn't have time for anything else in her life until she meets Luc. They are destined to be together and there's nothing she can do about it. This was an interesting story, Jenna seems like a good character, she is trying her best not to hurt people who don't deserve it. I think readers who enjoy paranormal romance will like this. I would recommend it.
