Love on the Edge #1

A Witch's Mortal Desire

Rate this book
An alternative cover edition for this ASIN can be found here.

My name is Sadie, and I’m a nymphomaniac. Oh yeah, and I’m also a witch…with almost zero magical powers. The only place I fit in is with my two roommates—a vampire Domme and a gay shape-shifter.

But against my better judgment, a new human in town wants to squeeze into our ménage à many. Of course, part of his charm is that my mother hates him. But before meeting Ryder, I never even considered letting some possessive, alpha-hole man-candy come between me and freedom.

Yet Mr. Tall, Dark, and Switchy likes to share…and to watch. Because wicked creatures still skitter around the blackened edges of the night me and my friends must turn to my judgmental family for help.

So actual plot... not found.
Half the book or even more than that is about the sexual life of the protagonist.
If you are looking for paranormal, unconventional sex sure pick it up.
You will not find any story.
It is what it says it is.

Hot and definitely not your normal paranormal romance. First, this book is meant for mature adults only. It has some beyond steamy scenes that may include more than you ever knew about. So with that warning, enjoy this hot and extreme story of witches, vampires and shifters. And don't forget the suspense of never knowing what will happen next. Who is the bad guy? Who can be trusted?

Hot and Suspenseful

I didn't know what to expect but this book blew my mind. I love Sadie's strength and the fact that she's now come into her own as a witch. Her mother is a piece of work but it makes for interesting reading. This book was hot, steamy and full of suspense. Loved it ❤️

While I'm not a huge reader of menage, I found A Witch's Mortal Desire simply delightful. Sadie is a quirky witch who doesn't have any magical ability. How funny is that? Well, not for Sadie, but for the reader, it's hilarious. I loved all the characters and the romance was smokin' HOT! Highly recommend!

Uhmmm... Okay... Wow... I'm not really sure what to say about this book. It wasn't like anything I was expecting, and that made it even more fantastic. I'm still reeling from story hangover so the right words to explain just how amazing this book was aren't coming to me easily. The story is deep, and complex, and engrossing, while being smoking hot. This is another unique approach to supernatural beings that I haven't previously had the pleasure of encountering. The only regret I have after reading this book is that it's over. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series. I'm well and truly hooked.

OMG totally not what I was expecting but I can say definitely pleasantly surprised.
This is the first book of Chloe's and it was an amazing read. It has a different take on the supernatural world, like shifters, witches and vampires.
If your looking for something different this book is worthy of that.
Would I recommend this book YES

This is a new author for me, and while I encountered a few issues, I still enjoyed the story overall. It took me a while to get through it, mainly because there were moments when the pacing slowed down, prompting me to set the book aside temporarily. However, I always returned to it, believing it was worth the effort.

I liked all the characters except for Sadie's mother, who lacked any redeeming qualities in my view. While the characters were generally well-developed, I felt they could use a bit more depth, which can likely be addressed in future books. I also noticed a few typos, such as "titled" instead of "tilted." Additionally, the world they inhabit could have been better fleshed out, especially since it is supposed to parallel our own.

Sadie Willamena Holt is the middle child in a family of witches but lacks magic and the respect of her mother and older sister. They treat her poorly, making her feel like a bad and evil person because of who she is.

Sadie has come to terms with being an outsider, as it is a role she has always occupied. Nevertheless, she has good friends who make her feel valued and a life that is worth living. Her life may be unconventional, but it is still uniquely hers.

There are some steamy elements to be aware of, as this story includes ménage pairings of various genders. I would recommend it.

I got to about chapter 9 before giving up on this book. It was causing me great anxiety. For me, it just seemed to stall with repeated scenarios. All the characters seemed one dimensional and there were plenty of times where I just couldn’t fully agree with the reaction and behavior of the lead character. It wasn’t bad per say, I just lost interest in it about a little over a third way into it. I’ve read other witch themed books out there and this is about in the middle. It’s far from Magic Bites or Burn for Me, but its better them some of the other ones out there. I really wished I could have gotten into this one but it just caused me too much stress to continue.

Sadie hasn't gotten along with her mother for years. Even though Sadie is from a powerful witch family, she has very little to no power. Since her father died he mother has turned cold and controlling. She doesn't approve of any of Sadie's choice including her job as a nude model or her passionate affairs. Moving out was the best choice that she ever made and her roommates are now her loves and family. She lives with Burgundy, a female vampire stripper and Jared a gay shifter. Sadie is considered a nymphomaniac because she is happy with many short term lovers. Then Sadie meets Ryder and has a powerful attraction to him. He is both a Dom and a sub which pleases Sadie.
Then Sadie's life truly turns strange. While she is out at a club with her friends and sister, an evil giant being attacks and kidnaps humans. Along with him, shows up her father doing magic which should be impossible for a human. When she gets a chance to talk to her father, she learns many confusing things. Her father isn't her father because her mother had a passionate night with an old lover. He was a sex witch and so is Sadie. Sadie isn't powerless but she won't access her true power until she has sex with her heart mate. Surprise, surprise, Ryder is that mate. Now Sadie and her friends have get Sadie up to speed magically and fight the big bad being. Her mother is being very unhelpful and even accuses Ryder as working for the enemy.
This is a great story with a lot of twists and turns. I really enjoyed Sadie. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Witches, vampires & shifters living together

So this was quite different to what I expected, with a great storyline full of twists.

Sadie is the middle sister of three in a family of witches. Their human father disappeared 12 years ago and she’s always been shunned by her mum and sisters for having non/very little power and unusual lifestyle choices. Though when her bestie/vampire roommate brings home Ryder, there are serious sparks and she realises she might have more power than she thought.

But there are things going on in the town of Distant Edge with people disappearing. When Sadie and her friends realise they might be able to do something to stop it they also find there are more secrets to uncover and she has to question who she can trust.

This is a fantastic story with fast paced action, steamy romance and strong chemistry between the characters with a group relationship dynamic. The town of Distant Edge is full of humans, shifters, vampires and witches with family dramas, suspense, mysteries and magic.
This story will not disappoint; with plenty of great twists and a fantastic ending. I’m looking forward to reading more books by Chloe Adler.

rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. interesting read...some things i didnt see coming. we meet Sadie, middle daughter of the most powerful witch, but doesnt have any powers. she has always felt outta place and her family had done nothing but belittled her and made her life hell. not so bad that she lives with her 2 bffs....a vampy vamp and gay shifter...but she wouldnt change them for anything. hypersexual, sadie meets Burg's new playmate and he is smokin! she develops things for him like she has never felt before. weird things are happening...ppl are disappearing, suddenly her dad reappears after 12 yrs with the monster no less. life is complicated but ryder somehow makes it better and when a passionate embrace happens, magic starts to pour out of her. her friends are kidnapped along with her sister. there are so many questions with little answers...will sadie save her friends and her family? will she trust ryder once she learns the truth? what will sadie think of her newfound powers?

Sadie has never lived up to her family's expectations and is doing her best not to care. She adores her supernatural roomies and loves to frequent the local sex club. Until a terrifying nightmare comes to her town and starts to take the people she cares about. Then there's this sexy human who she can't keep her hands off of. Will Sadie be able to untangle the mystery and save her friends and family from the horrifying beast?

I haven't read anything from this author before, and since I know this connects to other stories by her, I felt I was missing some connections. The plot itself was interesting. Witch with no powers coming into her own, struggling with her family's lies, and a strange monster from another dimension terrorizing a community of supernaturals. Burgundy and Jared were my favorite characters. I didn't care so much for Sadie, Ryder, or her family. Be forewarned, there is a lot of sex in this book. So if supernatural steam with BDSM aspects is your thing, then you're thoroughly enjoy the read.

So, I really loved the creativity and freshness of this novel. I have never read anything like it, and I love paranormal romance! The story flowed well, and about half way through, the story picks up really fast and secrets are revealed.

My problem lies in the main character, Sadie. Her choices on certain things and her reactions felt off to me. I can’t really give an example at the risk of spoilers, but she just felt two dimensional to me. Once you find out more about her, some of her decisions make way more sense, but I just didn’t understand her much. The other characters, such as Burgundy and Ryder, I loved! They felt very real to me.

But it was still a fun read! I would recommend to lovers of paranormal romance and those who like lots of spice in their books!

First, let me say that I received an advance copy of this book from booksprout to leave a review. Second, I only leave a truthful review of my reading.

This is the story about a witch named Sadie Holt, who unfortunately has little to no magic but she is a nympho. She's got 2 BFF's; Burgundy, a vampire who's a stripper & Jared, a Shifter (that has 3 different animals he can shift into), who's gay & one of the bartenders where Burgundy works. This story is hot. Tons of sex, and sexy people. Sadie meets Ryder, who's a hot sexy human, and sparks fly. Sadie has 2 sisters; Chrys, (Chrysothimus), who's older and so starchy & Iphi, (Iphigenia), who's sweet and innocent (and the youngest). Then there's their mother, Aurelia. She's a powerful witch, but damn that woman has problems. This story has a lot going on. I love the names. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs Up

I'm a sucker for paranormal romance novels and when I saw this on my recommended section, I just couldn't stop myself from grabbing a copy and devouring it. The story of Sadie kept me at the edge of my seat throughout. Chloe Adler's writing is fresh, captivating and engaging. The characters are well developed and the scenes setting is spot on as well. The thing I loved the best about the story is obviously the explicitly described sex scenes. Thanks to the vivid writing and obviously, Ryder's charm. ;)

I'm super glad that in spite of being a part of a book series, this doesn't have a cliffhanger and is a complete story all by itself. Although, I liked it so much that I've already bought the 2nd book in the series. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend this series if you enjoy paranormal romances and many of them feature ménage.

Sadie has never fit in with others. She is a witch that craves sex and has a unique relationship with her roommates (one is a female vampire and the other a gay shifter). She is judged harshly by her mother and older sister. When she meets a new man, he becomes more than just a plaything. She realizes he is meant for her. It scares her to risk her other relationships but she can't resist the attraction.

This book has a lot of heat including all kinds of sexual situations involving men and women. It also has a lot of action and a good storyline that keeps you guessing. I really enjoying this unusual group of characters that formed their own kind of family.

Rounding out my reading for 2018 I settled on this random title from my paranormal romance kindle collection. Having never read anything by Chloe Adler before I wasn't sure what to expect from a nymphomaniac MC. I thought maybe the heroine would be flighty and the story shallow. Well, I was wrong. The heroine was a mix of insecure and bold, but mostly level-headed. The supporting characters are very colorful and the plot does have some good action sequences and revelations. The sex scenes were indeed explicit, probably more than usual for this genre. However, the scenes never felt corny, misplaced or melodramatic.

There are 3 other books in this series, and I liked this one enough that I will check those out as well.

Sadie is a sesso witch (sex magic), a nymphomaniac.... with almost zero magical powers. Sadie has been struggling with her life 'cause her sisters had powers and she ... not.
When she meets Ryder, a human raised by a witch mum and sister. He knows more about witches, vamps, weerwolves, signum.... then Sadie and her life is about to change in every possible ways. She never considered letting some possessive, alpha man coming between her and freedom.
How is Ryder, a mere human, the key, will be able to unlock my powers and embrace my true nature?
Well, find out by reading the book !

This is the first book in The Love on the Edge Series. An interesting book the writing was good. The plot was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters diverting. The characters were developed and thought out. Ryder and Sadie are the MC’s of this book. There was witches, shifters, deaths and disappearances, roommates and friends, a returned father, a sacrifice, sex and so much more in this book. This book had some good writing, but it needed detail. Unfortunately, I can’t say that this is a book that I would reread. But it was good for a read. I did like the friends and how loyal they are to each other. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Amazing story!

A Witch’s Mortal Desire is to have powers, right? What if that witch lacks her magical ability? This is Sadie’s conundrum and feels mediocre not just about her natural sexual behavior but also the constant criticism she gets from her mother and two sisters. A villain enters the scene but he’s accompanied by someone she thought long dead. Also she find someone to be her key to unlock her powers. Lively events and hot sex scenes expedites this story. Constant action and mental drama entertain as Sadie unravels several mysteries. And I love the reference to Scooby Doo. Classic

I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and I gladly leave my review.
This is the 1st book of the series, it’s about Sadie who has limited magical powers and she’s also a nyphomaniac. Sadie lives with Bergundy ( Berg ) who is a vampire and Jared who is a gay shape shifter. Sadie has a bad relationship with her mother and it only gets worse when Sadie meets Ryder the human. I loved this 1st book in the series and I can’t wait to read the rest. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves the paranormal cause it’s well worth the read.

So intricate and so simple! Fast and slot, sexy and decided! Sadie is a non witch whose mother send to have hate her and has stopped in her two sisters to act the same towards her. After a visit home where she gets frustrated and upset she returns to her own place where her two lovers, a female famous and a shifter make and her live. She encounters a man named Ryder whom Burgandy (the camp) has brought in for fun and games. From this moment on, Sadie's life changes!
Fantastic story and read!!

Started well, but the h's family was awful, too much to and fro so the story didn't flow well. The h is bisexual, but I never quite understood how her lover and friend felt about her. She has no powers even thought she comes from a family of super powerful witches, and they are all awful to her and she feels to alienated from them. I liked the H, but he didn't make life easier for her as he was in thrall to an evil guy, so had an agenda that alienated the h again. It seemed overly complex sometimes.

I love the insight into Sadie's story! I'm so glad I got to read about her side of things, growing up with Aurelia and her view on Iphi and Chrys. I felt bad for the sisters throughout Iphi's story but I felt even worse for Sadie through her story with the Aurelia treated her for things that are not in her control and Chrys was kind of a mean girl too. I definitely loved reading about Sadie's relationships and all the unconventional relationship relating to these books. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the other characters with the Distant Edge and their backstory. I always love HEA.

A Witch’s Mortal Desire is my first read from author Chloe Adler I’m not normally a witch/shifter/vampire reader, but this is an extremely well-written story by a good author and the characters and storyline would work just as well with main-stream characters and setting. I started reading the fourth book in the series and quickly realized that although touted as a stand-alone there was too much I was missing by not having read the first 3 books, so I got them and started reading.

And especially a nymphomaniac but that's also a kind of witch as you will learn throughout the book that's one thing you have to do is read the book to learn it... but I love all of the details and descriptions of the characters in the scenes that goes on in the book... it's amazing how a whole world opens up and just one book and then create more... I recommend this book to anybody

Sadie is a witch that craves sex, lots of sex then she meets Ryder.
Sadie is a witch who loves sex a lot but with very little power. A sexual encounter with Ryder and things start to change. Why is Ryder having such an effect on her. Added to this friends and family are going missing and they search for the ways and the magic to find and rescue them. A sexy paranormal adventure to relax and enjoy.
