Kara O’Donnell loves working at the Smithport Zoo as a feline specialist in the Cat Complex, but things start to go haywire when her boss, the eccentric Professor Contreras orders her and her partner to go out after dark to bring in a strange animal perched in the neighborhood trees. Kara can’t understand why he wants the thing, but when she sees it, she must face the truth that this creature is like nothing she’s encountered before in all her years working in zoos.

At the same time, magnetic Rex McCord comes to work at the Cat Complex, and Kara falls instantly under his spell. All is not as it seems, however, and she soon discovers Rex hides a terrible secret, a secret that could destroy Kara’s world with its devastating power. Before she knows it, Kara finds she must fight not only for her life, but for the lives of countless other helpless people trapped in a nightmare. Can she find a way to defeat the evil machinations of science before they suck her down with them to destruction?

And then you read something horrible

I was having a pretty good streak of KU books, which of course means I hit a total dud. This book was atrocious. There was so little plot, planning, logic...really anything. It makes these leaps that are so illogical and painful that I can't believe I actually read the whole thing.

Take for example the meeting between Kara and Rex. Rex shows up as a feline specialist. Kara is confused, but immediately defends his position to her boss. Then Kara freaks out and decides Rex has to be fake, even with a very real letter of employment. Next thing she is terrified of him, but Rex says Kara trusts and knows him and she decides she does. This takes the span of about a page. The rest of the story is no better.

Terrible story, uninteresting characters, illogical choices. Such a bad read.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Big Cats: Ferocity by K.T. Harding is a stand alone read (at this point). This was a little different than what I normally read by K.T. Harding. Sometimes different is good, like in this case. I really enjoyed that the characters were rather well thought out. They storyline was a little Island of Dr. Moreau and a great deal entertaining. I found myself cheering on Rex, Kara and Paul. This is a fast paced, quick read with lots of action and some horror type situations thrown in. I liked it and hope to see it be a first in series.

Different

This is an odd little story. One of the main characters and secondary characters are hybrids, not shifters like we usually read about. They are experiments like that of animal eggs mixed with human sperm. So the results are strange. It reminds me of the movie The Island of Dr. Moreau.
If you don't mind a little weird, then you may enjoy this book.

What a good book. What a place for him to show up to work. And the way she feels about him too. I enjoyed it. It was fun, exciting, suspenseful, and hot. I recommend it. Kept my attention. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Gifted copy. Writing voluntary review:

This is a different take on being a shifter. For some it will be so far fetched that they can't "enjoy" the suspense and the wonder of what is really going on. It is a fictional read that is entertaining. I enjoyed the book. Will read more by this author.

Evil...

Evil is as evil does, and what was being done to humans by one man, who was parading as a zoo 'keeper" was beyond atrocious! Read it!

Definitely a different view of shifters and a little more sci-fi than paranormal. I really enjoyed it.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

K T Harding has managed to surprise me!! I have read shifter books for decades now and this is a completely new take. Kara and Paul are big cat experts at the zoo with Dr, Contrera being the director. But things are getting weird when Rex shows up claiming he is the newly hired big cat expert hired by the board of directors. What Rex reveals will boggle your mind and make you see things from a different perspective. I truly enjoyed this book and hope there are more coming as follow up to each of the characters.
