Adam Dunne is tormented. He has a secret locked inside of him and only he holds the key. Horrifying visions haunt him day and night. As Adam unravels the mystery surrounding his past, he discovers that the world around him isn't what it seems.
Words fail me. The title and the cover got my attention first of all. I was drawn into the story from page one. This was very well written, the descriptions of everything from the characters to the neighborhoods was, in my opinion, flawless. I could see everything in my mind. I never would have guessed the ending. Although it was sad, I felt happy for Adam at the end. This is a must-read.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a well thought out and interesting story. I found myself looking forward in anticipation to the next scene. The story flowed very well and at the end I wanted more. There are many twists and turns. I did not want to put it down
Adam Dunne is the new kid in town. This is hard enough for a young boy, but he has the added complication of being a little odd. Having recently suffered from a traumatic accident, Adam suffers from amnesia and terrible headaches. If this wasn’t bad enough he is haunted by frightening dreams of a dark man in a torn jacket. When the dark figure starts appearing during the day, Adam must take action to find out who this person is.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found the character of Adam pleasant and easy to relate to. The plot flows smoothly and draws the reader into the action. The book is Novella length, with easy to digest chapters. The book is suitable for readers from Middle-grade and beyond. 4 stars for the story, 3.5 stars for the writing.
A very different kind of story about a young boy with a head injury. He and his family had to move away from his home to a different city. Adam had to leave behind his grandmother and his best friend and go to a different school. Adam’s parents had to work very long odd hours and Adam was home alone a lot. Adam finally made a friend at his new school. Then Adam’s life changed. I thought I had the ending figured out. I did not see the actual ending at all. A couple of typos that did not interrupt the story flow. A great mystery that read like an autobiography.
Adam Dunne and his mother now have moved to the small town of Somberville. Adam is unhappy and withdrawn as he has no friends. He's a boy who is tormented with secrets locked inside him. His visions haunt him night and day. What is this world he lives in? This is a spooky thriller with unique writing style. There's a twist at the end and you'll be glad you read this very emotional and somber story. A rather unique story which will intrigue you.
About a third of the way through this book I thought, man, this is one weird book! I’m so glad I continued! My first thought that his mother was ill…was I ever wrong! This is about loss on so many levels! I was surprised to say the least when I found out what was a actually being written about. You absolutely must give this book your time. I heartily recommend it.
Good short story about a boy and his fears and how he overcomes them. His journey into finding out why he has nightmares and headaches after an accident.
