Jude chases the kidnappers, lands his team on an enemy controlled airfield and sneaks into the San Diego naval base where the Chinese keep the kidnapped interim President.
In a daring raid he and Kate free the President and go on to Europe where reliable intelligence puts the terrorist head of Cell 786.
American Rebel forces mass on the West Coast and attack the occupiers.
The civil war in the United States started in book one. This extremely interesting story is centered around the all too possible scenario of the destruction of the U.S. government. Then covers the fight to restore order by her citizens as well as warding off foreign elements wanting to take advantage of the U.S.’s weakness. The biggest being China.
The series flows with a focus on a personal and on a macro level. The personal level centers around a wild ride focused around an ex-Army Ranger, Jude, and his compatriot ex-Military Police Officer, Kate. He has to try to save the potential Interim President in the heart of Chinese occupied California. Tons of action and you are never sure if he can pull it off. Then his mission changes, along with Kate, with an exciting international chase to possibly catch the man who started the whole destruction of the U.S. Government.
On the Macro level, a serious war is being waged on the soil of the United States to remove the self-appointed dictator on the east coast and the Chinese on the West Coach. These are battles that the author portrays so vividly, you will feel as if you are reading history. It reminded me of many major battles of WW II.
All in all, an excellent job, kudos to the author. I hope he does a Book Four.
Review by Mike Slavin author of award-winning Kill Crime (action-packed thriller on Amazon to buy or KU)
Reminiscent of The Man in the High Castle but against 21st Century antagonists, Insurrection is the story of Americans rising up to retake their country from foreign occupiers. The hero of the story is Jude Winthrop, a skilled and troubled soldier who makes gutsy yet often morally dubious decisions in his relentless push to win the day. Santos ends his Insurrection series with a gripping page turner.
I will not get into the detail of the Insurrection series as I did in my review for Mile High Blood, (book two). The last of this series, “Tiger Legion” took me on another trip, from the tops of the Colorado Rockies to the warm salty shores of Southern California, San Diego, to be specific, there I was forced to come face to with a foreign power, namely the Military power of communist China. To my horror, they had invaded my beautiful San Diego. I lived there back in 1959 and 60 and worked for the San Diego Gas and Electric Company. Now the west coast had the Chinese Army and Navy ‘s foot square on the face of a democratic state, and that place where dreams have been made. Not only had our nation’s capital been destroyed three years ago and a large amount of our nation’s leaders killed, including the President, but Washington DC lay in ruins, and a despot had stepped forward and taken the reins of President, and split the country and taken away any semblance of Democracy. Would the America we know, take that lying down, and just roll over and play dead. Nope, we are just not built that way, and yes there will be traitors, but they will rue their choices. So, You must read this great series, you must watch the battles fought to heal this country, you can read and cheer the patriot armies that roll across America and roll up the occupying force and shove them back into the Pacific. And you will thrill at our allies from both side of the world, who stand beside the United States, and lend a hand and a foot and a heart to once again, light that beacon that stands on a mountain and beckons those who stand for liberty. I cannot tell you more, you have to watch the strategy, you have to study the missions, and hunker down with the heroes, male and female, as they fight to regain their freedom, and some will give all. Thank You Dan Santos!!
