Book 3 ✔ This time, we are viewing Junior Lifeguard training through Piper's eyes. She was talked into trying out by her friend Jenna but is surprisingly liking it. And she's pretty good at it too. The only thing she's lacking is confidence. She feels uncomfortable standing around in only a swimsuit, which is a lifeguard's uniform when on duty. When a problem arises during training one day, she's not confident enough to say something about it, even though it eats at her insides. With a little bit of advice, will she learn to speak up and do the right thing?
I'm still loving this series! Piper was an interesting character to have tell the story. She's not very confident and growing up (even now at times) I wasn't either. I was able to identify with Piper, so I know young girls reading this MG novel will as well. Just one more book and I get to send these beauties on to their next reviewer.
So much fun. Love getting to know Piper, who at first is crazy for all things boys but then realizes there is more to life. In this book she learns that a lifeguard bathing suit is a badge of honor and she should wear it with pride and confidence. Also, a lifeguard is never off-duty and must always be on his or her guard.
I received this book from #kidlitexchange to read in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Sharkbait (Junior Lifeguards Book 3) by Elizabeth Doyle Carey, Tracey West, and Katherine Noll. Piper and her friends have joined Junior Lifguards for the summer. Piper isn't as confident as Jenna or Selena and it shows. She's self conscious of wearing a swimsuit which leads to a mistake and a reprimand. A Sr. lifeguard, Jaime, is there with some great advice and confidence boosters. Piper gets assigned to shadow Sr. Lifeguard, Kevin, but Kevin has his cell phone and isn't really paying attention and Piper is irritated. First rule No cellphones on the beach. She wiggled out of a second assignment with Kevin, but on day 3 Piper says she will keep watch. As she makes an amazing save Kevin gets reprimanded for not paying attention but Piper doesn't tell he was on his phone. She doesn't want to feel like a tattletale. But she tells Bud's (the lifeguard leader) son who she has a crush on and he tells Bud. Kevin gets suspended. Piper worries and worries she's done the wrong thing. In the end Piper realizes lifeguards must be confident and she can't be afraid. She has to trust her instincts.
