Maybe he's crazy to hope for a real future with her instead of heading for the hills, but now that someone's staking a dangerous claim to her farm, Cord's decided to stick around as long as the lady needs protecting. That wedding ring he put on her finger means her reputation is safe -- and he's determined to win her heart. One Real Cowboy - This is my first and last book by this author; I was disappointed with a lot of things. This well written and except for three or four minor items, it is well edited - thank you Ms. Kenny for that.

The action scenes fail to live to the drama and excitement for which Ms. K strived. Trixie is flip-flopped several times through the story, else there's no story. Cord shows he's trustworthy, considerate and a good man, but she sneakily follows him on one of his early morning rides because she doesn't trust him (flip-flop). He has a family secret, which I agree him keeping since the marriage started with a contract and didn't matter. She "lies" more than he does (f-f), but he feels quilty about keeping his secret. Other things fell short of reality: Cord is shot; it's a graze but with large blood loss(?); yet is very physical within minutes of waking up - was knocked out.

I did like the support characters: the grandfather, the aunt, the servants, the cowboys and the Irish rancher. The story is predictable with boring sex (better left to the imagination) and infrequent, mild cursing, and way too much introspection by Trix. Overall, if you don't care that the action is not realistic and Trix flip-flops for the story to flow, you'll enjoy this story, even though you'll figure it all out way before the end, at least this Mick did. Actually 3.5*

Ohhhh my gawd. Sometimes, you just pick up a book at the library because the cover and description makes you howl with laughter. One Real Cowboy - a period western romance - cracked me up repeatedly and made for excellent read alouds to my husband. When Cord - the titular cowboy - referred to his junk as his "little rustler" I legit snorted my wine.

Got to love cowboys.

This was the second time I have enjoyed this book. This is an great read if you like it when the underdog fights for what could be against what is and wins. Great western romance.
