Though Kimi ni Todoke is only her second series following many one-shot stories, it has already racked up accolades from various "Best Manga of the Year" lists. Winner of the 2008 Kodansha Manga Award for the shojo category, Kimi ni Todoke also placed fifth in the first-ever Manga Taisho (Cartoon Grand Prize) contest in 2008.
My ship sailed!!!!! It's full of uncertainty, honesty, and FEELS, but it. Has. Sailed! I'm so happy!
Though a different ship seems to be caught up on the beach and NOT sailing. I feel bad because there are so many mixed feels in that. I'm not quite sure I WANT it too, which makes me feel worse since the one character I really really like! Well, technically I like both of them quite a bit, but still.
Kazehaya has grown so much! I am immensely impressed with how far he's come and grown! I feel like Sawako in that I never want them to separate! LOL! I'm curious to see where things will go since they both feel that way.
This volume had a lot of things happening, but things seemed to have slowed down? Well, maybe not for EVERYONE. But for quite a few. The character development has continued to grow and grow and I feel nervously excited to see what choices everyone will make!
so many decisions to make ..and all of them my age.. i can feel their anxieties and pain ... trying to figure out your future and wanting to do something , but not having the confidence to do so ..i feel their pain and agony . school life as it ends , leaves u with questions about what youll do in the future , who are the people who support you and to acknowledge them, if you are good enough , if you can pass any entrance exam , if you are capable and how you would deal with leaving your loved one ,not being able to meet them for a long time . your dearest friends who wont be there to support you any more
WHAT IS TO HAPPEN TO YOU IN THE FUTURE WHAT THE FUTURE AWAITS ,NOBODY KNOWS
IF YOU WILL REGRET THINGS , AND HOW YOU WOULD GET UP AGAIN .
This series is adorable and heartfelt. I cried about twice, or so whilst reading it. It's a really good shoujo and I think a lot of people would agree. I just enjoy the series quite a bit. It's one of those manga that really get to the reader. It makes your heart feel heavy and actually causes you to feel. It's a great read. I recommend it to everyone.
Kimi ni Todoke, even though we are volume 22 now, it keeps surprising me, it keeps getting better and better and my love for this series is just growing with each volume.
On the one hand I am still delighted that we focus on all 3 girls and their love lives, but on the other hand, I would also love to see more Kazehaya x Sawako. Now, due to the fact everyone gets a spotlight, I feel that they are fading to the back. At times it isn't easy to slide back into the various love parts we have.
An other thing that I miss is the kissing, the hugs. I can imagine this not happening with Ayane or Chizuru (due to reasons), but Kazehaya and Sawako have been together for a year, yet, it feels like they just started dating. They are really awkward around each other, they barely touch or do anything romantic. And it is kind of grating on me. I wouldn't want full make-outs, but a bit of kissing? A little bit of holding and hugging? I hope the next volumes will get a bit more of that. A bit more maturity wouldn't be wrong in this series, especially now that the characters are slowly moving from High School and onto College or Work.
But this volume was pretty good, we got a whole bunch of confessions, and best of all, something I have been hoping and cheering for, we finally have a kiss between two characters and a confession. Finalllyyyyyy, it only took them 22 volumes to get to this point, and I even thought it would never happen. But it did, and I was just squealing and swooning a lot when it happened. I won't spoil who kissed, who confessed, you will just have to read the manga. ;)
Then the other big surprise was the Kurumi part. She is not one of the characters I like, but I can tell you honestly that in this volume she was amazing! She is sweet, nice and I loved what Sawako did for her. Even after all that Kurumi did, Sawako is forgiving and even helps her out. Now we already know that Sawako is amazing, but I was just so proud of her here. She is still a bit awkward to talk to people, but you can really tell that Sawako has grown. I know for sure that in the beginning she would have never even thought of asking someone who was so mean to her if they needed help!
Ayane and Kento? I just can't see that going the way Kento wants. I am really sorry, and I feel terrible, but I just have the feeling that we will see something big happen (and not in the good way) soon. :( It would make me sad, because I really hoped that despite everything, they would be a great couple.
The art is still really pretty, and I just love the backgrounds and how the characters are drawn.
Recommended? Yes, yes and yes. I would highly recommend this series to everyone. And also the anime, even though that one should get a new season.
I honestly hope this manga is not close to its end! But everything leads to it, it is getting angsty and all our couples are established...
* Sawako and Kazehaya: <3 Their love is still pure and sweet. It has been a year since they started dating! WOW they are growing up (my children =D) although they still have problems to say each others name!
* Sawako and Kurumi-chan: <3 I am liking where this is going! It is impossible not to like Kurumi-chan (despite her personality) and since she is a lonely girl and Sawako is so nice and in spite of all, Kurumi-chan has always admired (and liked) Sawako, I am glad they are finally becoming pals.
* Chizu and Ryu: <3 uhhhh, my current favorite couple, although they are a bit dramatic! Not Ryu though, he will never be dramatic. But their whole situation.... But they are finally a couple (just not official?) and Chizu is still funny (their text messages... short and so-them). Ryu waited for Chizu longer than Kazehaya waited for Sawako, so the title "Kimi ni Todoke" could be about him as well. Congrats Ryu, you have reached stubborn Chizu at last.
* Ayane and Kent: ah... hm... same as Vol. 21 I guess. Sorry Kent, you are really nice but... It is me, not you.
All three couples will have to separate because one of them will stay at home and the other will go to college. These chapters are, therefore, more dramatic.
This arc of career planning and future planning is taking a long time and making every character go through anxiety and stress of what path to choose and if they will regret it later. It's the same in real life for us students who want to do something for ourself but there are expectations and so many different options and paths... ugh! I can relate to each and every character here. The group goes through stress, for planning a bright future for themselves. And between everything that was going on, finally, Ryuu's love for Chizu has reached and Chizu confessed to him on her birthday... Eeekk!! They kissed!! Sorry for spoilling it but I just cant contain myself!! Eeeeek!!! They are my favorite!! Next volume this cloud of stress continues.
