Warlock #1: Autofire Blitz

Rate this book
Sometimes the only way to deal with scumbags is to kill ‘em all. Death-dealing mercenary Damien “Warlock” Locke is perfectly willing to put bullets in bad guys … as long as you’ve got the cash.

When a ruthless Colombian cartel kidnaps a 10 year-old boy, his father hires Locke to bring him back and make the bastards pay. Locke unleashes a full-auto firestorm and as the kill-count skyrockets, uncovers a DEA-cartel alliance that’s dirtier than the devil’s own black heart.

Hunted by both a black ops assassin and a cartel cutthroat, Locke wages his brand of scorched earth war from the sin-soaked streets of New York City to the jungle hellzones of Colombia. Only the deadliest gun will survive the blood and thunder … but they don’t come any deadlier than Warlock.

Autofire Blitz is the first in a bloody, hard-hitting, ultraviolent new action series.

Mark Allen specializes in tough, uncompromising, hard-hitting fiction. He uses words like a scalpel, carving through the surface layers to rip open the dark, shadowy corners of the soul.

He won his first short story writing contest at the age of 16 with "Fatal Love," the true life tale of his uncle's sacrificial death in Vietnam, and shortly thereafter published several poems in various anthologies. His short stories have appeared in "Night Terrors" horror magazine and his romantic action novel "The Assassin's Prayer" was optioned by Showtime for a feature-length cable TV movie. His horror script "Gristle" was a semi-finalist in the prestigious 2010 Slamdance Horror Screenplay Competition where it was called "a perfect blend of high drama and blood-and-guts slasher horror."

Mark Allen currently lives in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York with a wife he loves, two daughters he adores, a pair of cats he hates with every fiber of his being, a dog who doesn't care that he exists, and enough firepower to ensure he is never bothered by door-to-door salesmen.

Attention! Sufferers of erectile dysfunction, look no further than WARLOCK: AUTOFIRE BLITZ, a gloriously, gratuitously violent slice of 80s action overkill that will leave you harder than a fistful of little blue pills.

Ex- Black Ops badass turned mercenary Damien “Warlock” Locke (imagine the bastard son of Johns Matrix and J. Rambo, Dirty Harry, Jason Bourne, and ponytail-era Steven Seagal; the kinda guy who makes Frank Castle look like a limp-wristed pantywaist) is hired to rescue a kidnapped boy from the clutches of a Colombian Cartel / DEA alliance…and takes it to the scumbags the only way he knows how: With extreme prejudice!

Harder than hardboiled, gorier than even the most extreme horror fiction, the kinda pulp that oughta come with reading-Kevlar. During the golden era of action cinema, the 19-fuckin’-80s, Golan-Globus would have fought Joel Silver to the death for the chance to adapt this for film. Reading this book will make you a goddamned sexual Tyrannosaurus…just like me.

First, let me just say that this novel will never receive a prestigious literary award, nor will it be scrutinized for its deeper meaning by collegiate English classes. That said, it accomplishes precisely what the author set out to do with it: It entertains. Much like watching a cheesy '80s action flick or Western on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I don't pick up a book like this expecting anything profound, I just want to shut off the brain for a minute and enjoy how ridiculous, at times corny and vulgar, it all is. I give this book five stars not because it's the best book I've read, but because it delivered exactly what it said it would: an over-the-top story.

Mark Allen delivers a crackling action yarn with Autofire Blitz. There's a ton of bloody ass-kicking -- just the way we like it! Main character Warlock is a classic black-ops skull-crusher, a skillful composite of archetypes like Mack Bolan and Jason Bourne. How cool is that? Overall a great start to a ripping new series.

Honestly I could not finish it. I did not like the charchter or plot. I can see why some may like it for pure action but I did not
