A murdered priest. A defendant with disassociative identity disorder. He might have killed the priest, and if he did, it will devastate Harper. Because he's her uncle.
Harper's uncle, Jack Calhoun, has been charged with murdering a priest. Jack has no idea if he killed the priest or not. All that he knows is that he woke up in the rectory, holding a knife, with a priest covered in blood at his feet.
It soon becomes apparent that Jack is not who he seems. He's not the man who Harper grew up with. He's become something else. Somebody else. It's possible that he really killed Father Malone - Harper must come to terms with this reality.
As Harper gets further into the case, she's never quite sure exactly what happened. She doesn't want to believe that her beloved uncle would be capable of such a crime.
All signs point to Jack as the murderer.
Did he do it?

Three strikes, you're out! I gave this series three chances and don't think I can read another. The plots are innovative, the characters predictable but interesting but the writing hasn't gotten any better with practice.
Plain & simple, the books sound like they were written by a high school student, and not one who is getting very good grades.
Really weird incident - reading on my kindle, kindle has to be rebooted. Before reboot Steven Heaney’s brothers name was Jackson but after reboot his name was Robert. At least 3 different places where the book repeated itself. And finally, there was a reference to bring 2023 in the book when the next book in the series was written in 2017?? Talk about confusion!!!
This is a very exciting series. Each book has gotten better. I love the thrills and the suspense. This book really kept you in suspense until the very end. I recommend this book and series.
Great series but have to admit some of the proofing errors drive me batty.. Harper Ross, a strong protagonist, is a criminal defense attorney sense of justice is absolute.
