This series is so good and I loved that this was a second chance romance with Scottish characters. First, the setting of the pleasure club is amazing. Then, you add in the fact that the heroine is spying on the hero to help open a different pleasure club? SO GOOD. There was a lot of angst between these two and I really enjoyed watching them and THAT ENDING. There was just so much chemistry between these two characters and I really enjoy their story! I couldn't recommend this series enough!

'The Seduction of Viscount Vice' by Nicola Davidson is book Three in the "Fallen" series. This is the story of Lord Iain 'Vice' Vissen and Lady Mairi MacNair. I have read the other books but feel this can easily be a standalone book.
Mairi and Vice have met about 10 years ago when they were both young and innocent. Mairi was trying to get out of a marriage and ended up using Vice. Vice and Mairi did 'enjoy' each other but then Mairi disappeared. Vice was told that she had died and it had broken his heart. Now in the present day Mairi is working to become a leading lady instead of a behind the scene seamstress. To do so she is trying to spy of the Fallen Club to get information for the new club her boss is wanting to open.
But Vice catches her spying on his club and he is shocked to find she is alive and well. Which now opens him up to getting back at her for tricking him all those years ago...not to mention stop her from spying.
This was a really HOT romance and a great second chance at LOVE!

Witty, emotional and SO satisfying!
Having read the first two volumes in Ms. Davidson's 'Fallen' series (which I loved) I devoured the last, hardly daring hope it would evoke the same level of emotional connection and sexiness.
I'm delighted to say that it TOTALLY delivered.

🔥 Exhibitionism. Ms. Davidson did a great job in conveying the thrill of wanting to be watched while indulging in 'naughty-times'. Hoorah! It's a kink rarely explored in historical romance fiction... but I can only say - more please.

🔥 A hero and heroine who are meant to be. The backstory played a strong role in the unraveling of the tale, and did a great job of enhancing (rather than slowly down the pace). I believed in their love.

🔥 Great banter between the hero and heroine. I smiled at the combination of humour and hotness.

All three volumes in this series are excellent.
Ms. Davidson demonstrates that the limited word-count of a novella is no hindrance to creating a satisfying story arc.

I look forward to working my way through her backlist.
Love her witty, stylish narrative and her handling of sensual desire.
Ms. Davidson knows how to keep us reading.

last book for 2023.

it has been a very slow year for me. so many challenges and hardships that made me focus less on reading. this book has exhumed me from the deepest pit of my reading slump. it was short, hot, and very steamy. plus, it's a second chance romance. a trope i am obsessed with!

4 Quick and Sinful Stars!!

The Seduction of Viscount Vice was a quick, yet sexy and sinful read. I was honestly surprised by just how naughty this book was for a historical romance. I thought the characters were interesting and their history had me intrigued. I enjoyed the push and pull between our two main characters and couldn’t wait to discover what had happened in the past to lead Mairi away from Vice.

For a novella, I think this story packed a lot of punch. I loved the secrets and lies. I loved the chemistry and romance. I loved all the sexy good times. If you’re looking for a quick and totally sexy historical read to get lost in for a few hours, I’d definitely recommend checking this one out. This is my first book by this author and I would definitely be open to reading more from her in the future.

I can always depend on Nicola Davidson for a good steamy read! This was such a delectable premise: part enemies to lovers, part second chance romance. I didn't completely understand Mairi's loyalty to Yvette and saw Yvette's actions coming from a mile away but my heart went out to Mairi as she was really torn in two directions. She and Iain were so perfect for one another and I loved watching them both realize it.

The Seduction of Viscount Vice (Fallen Book 3) by Nicola Davidson
• Vice
And now all the Fallen have fallen into the happily ever after. Another amazing epic story set in 1800's London era. The Fallen club is an unusual setting for the times, but people of London's high society still want their entertainment (and release) through this coveted exotic club as they please.
Vice is fed up with all the matchmaking going around since both of his partners have married. He loved once and lost her, now he's decided a lady for the night is s better way to go... That is until he's sees a ghost from the past...his beloved Mairi..... Posing as a footman?
Mairi is trying to help start a pleasure club, and she wants to star on stage. What happens when she is caught posing as a footman by none other than Iain(aka Vice) her first love? You'll have to read The Seduction of Viscount Vice to find out.
I enjoyed watching Vice fall... Since I missed the ARC opportunity for this title I had to purchase a copy, but I would'be anyway to find out how Vice's unfolded. I cannot wait to see what Nicola has up her sleeve next. Due to explicit sexual content this novel is for readers 18 and older. Although this is the 3rd book in the series they can be read in any order, I recommend reading the entire series.
Series Order:
Book #1 Surrender to Sin
Book #2 The Devil's Submission
Book #3 The Seduction of Viscount Vice
Favorite Passage ~

I couldn't see why Vice and Mairi loved each other in the past or in the future so I didn't like them. Also, I'm not a fan of public stuff so I didn't enjoy reading this book

The Midsummer Night Ball is under way at Fallen, the naughty pleasure club, and one of its owners, Lord Iain Vissen, better known as Vice, has had it of everyone asking when he will get married. His friends and associates have found their better half, but Vice hasn’t. Or rather, he had found her ten years ago, and lost her. Vice is too unsuitable for the ton’s marriage-minded mamas, and also “too Scottish”. Vice is in charge of the staff and the sex performances at Fallen, in which he also participates, he is pacing the floor when he notices a male employee he doesn’t know, and it’s a woman, Mairi MacNair, his long-lost love! Mairi has just come back from Paris, and she’s spying for her boss Yvette, who intends to open a sex club to rival Fallen.

I had not even finished reading The Devil’s Submission, the previous book, that I was eagerly anticipating THE SEDUCTION OF VISCOUNT VICE. I generally don’t like too much sex in historicals, but here it’s the purpose of the exercise, and it works splendidly! Vice is an amazing character: he is bold, brash, scared of nothing, rather crude at times, and oh so very Scottish, and I loved that he reverted to Gaelic only when his feathers were ruffled. He is also a perfectionist, he’s rather OCD, and that was a wonderful touch because his obsession with every little detail was very entertaining, and had me chuckling a few times. Mairi and Vice’s story was really terrific, and the novella could easily have been at least 100 pages longer, because there was a lot more to be said.

Ms. Davidson is a superb writer, and again the prose is luminous and elegant, the dialogues absolutely splendid and tailored to every character, and I got the sense of movement when Vice was rushing about: THE SEDUCTION OF VISCOUNT VICE is a very visual experience, if I may say so of a book. Vice and Mairi have a devastating backstory, and again, had it been longer, it could have been explored further. I knew it was a short read, but Ms. Davidson is so talented, it would have been a cinch to expand the story. Anyway. The secondary characters are drawn sharply and concisely, and the sex scenes are scorching. I was a bit surprised that there weren’t any of Vice’s performances at the club, maybe again because of the length of the novella. I hope Ms. Davidson will write Helena’s story, Vice’s younger sister, because she definitely has potential!

“Could she do it? Could she swallow her pride, the only thing she still possessed, and lay all her mistakes and regrets and secrets at Iain’s feet? Offer her whole heart, raw and unsure and yearning, and humbly ask him to love her again?
It would take every bit of courage she had. But there was only one answer. Yes.”

The Seduction of Viscount Vice was like a gift from the romance gods. Why? SCOT ON SCOT ACTION, THAT’S WHY! Maybe I’ve been reading the wrong books, but rarely have I encountered a historical set away from the Highlands where both leads are Scottish and share a past history that’s as heartwarming as it is heartbreaking. Also, the hero was ginger, the heroine had a love of wearing breeches AND, they were each other’s firsts. Seriously, SO MUCH CATNIP. In all seriousness though, this story was about rediscovering a powerful long lost love and whether that love was worth fighting to hold on to.

The best part of the novella, for me anyway, was Mairi and Iain’s relationship. Obviously given the short word-count, it was a quick reunion, followed by a battle of iron wills and sexy times galore. But at the heart of it, the connection between them went far and above anything I was expecting. While Mairi probably had the most significant emotional journey, these two complemented each other so well! Iain’s unyielding adoration gave Mairi the confidence to simply be herself, while Mairi’s easy acceptance of Iain’s quirks helped him break away from the shackles of control. I also liked how their shared kink for exhibitionism brought them even closer together, freeing them in a sense. It was as if they had finally found what had been missing from each of their lives all the years that they’d been apart. Ahh, it was just lovely.

I thought Vice’s book would mark the end of this enjoyably dirty series that kept getting better and better with each new release, but to my surprise and excitement, I saw hints of future plot bunnies! The most significant being Vice’s younger sister Helena aka Hellion. Now she has to have a book with a nickname like that! Fallen’s silent, piratical-like butler Diaz and its resident domme Charlie would make for interesting leads as well. Please keep the awesomeness coming Nicola Davidson!

I do enjoy a novel that dismisses the idea that humankind only invented sluttiness and kink in the 1970s or something.

While I don't think this one was as good as the first two books in this series (Surrender to Sin and The Devil's Submission), it was still definitely fun and an uncommon case of second-chance romance not feeling absurd or cloying. Mairi's reasons for cutting out on Vice made complete sense, as did her motivation for not being honest with him about what she was doing back in England (and also not being dead). And the idea that the two of them would still harbor feelings for each other didn't feel like as much of a stretch as it can sometimes. I also like having a heroine who doesn't have the typical curvy, voluptuous body with huge breasts and wide hips, as so many historical romance heroines do. Vice was a little annoying at times with how overly protective he is of his younger sister, but I suppose that's natural.

I do think this one was maybe a bit thin, and it makes you wonder how Mairi thought she could keep the truth a secret from Vice forever. He was obviously going to find out about a new pleasure club opening a stone's throw from his own! I also don't think the title is very fitting. The first two titles in the series fit the content perfectly, but in this one...I mean, there wasn't really that much "seduction" happening, since the two MCs already wanted each other from the get-go. But still, a fun quick romp if that's what you need.

Last in this series and the least compelling for me. Vice meets the love of his life when she is spying on their club Fallen, he thought she was dead but she was really just hiding in Paris. IDK, her reasons for spying once she discovered who owned Fallen seemed super weak and easily cleared up - honestly she and her servant could have switched camps immediately. But no, let there be conflict and more betrayal that in the end is super easily forgiven.

Do you still pine for the person you slept with once (ok, four times in a go) at 17, so much that it affects your whole life or in Mairi's case has you stay celibate? And having stayed celibate for a decade do you know that your dream job is to perform intimacy on stage and take to it like a duck to water? Maybe in England Times you do.

Trigger warnings: manipulation, I guess??, alcohol abuse.

Look, on the whole I'm glad I read this series because it was short and quick and fun. But once again, I wished this was a full length novel rather than a novella because the plot just felt rushed. I really liked the characters and the relationship between them. But I would have liked to have a good 70 or so pages of build up before they meet again after all these years rather than, like, 15 pages.

Ultimately, it was fine but also I'm glad I read the series on Scribd rather than paying actual human dollars for each book individually.

A sexy fun time.

I've been loving this Series! The first two were excellent and will remain on my keeper shelf of favourites. This one took forever to read despite its short length, I just felt it didn't bring anything new and fresh to the party. Perhaps a bit rushed. Didn't hold my attention like the first two, I put this down a few times.
However it was still very sexy, an amusing read with some wit, when I was reading it. I'll continue to read this author, onto a new series with this series concluded.

Oh. My. GOD. This might have been even better than book 2?!?! The chemistry! The ANGST! Oh wow. This novella made me CRY bc I was so invested in Iain and Mairi’s second chance romance. That is not an easy thing to achieve when writing an erotic romance novella, but Davidson truly nailed it.

I am obsessed with how perfect these two people are for one another and how smoking HOT the steamy scenes were. The sex club atmosphere was everything and I was so here for the fact that both Iain and Mairi adore exhibitionism and by the end start performing together at Fallen. JUST SO SO GOOD.

Short and steamy! It was lots of fun watching Vice and Mairi get together after a 10 year separation. Two hot Scots with tempers to match and both wilful yet yearning for each other. Loved it!

This is book 3 of the Fallen series, which are all short and fun to read. Perfect for an idle afternoon.

I didn't think there was any way I could love the third installment of Nicola Davidson's Fallen series more than I enjoyed the first two books, but The Seduction of Viscount Vice is by far my favorite. I have no idea how Davidson is able to instill such rich characterization into her novellas, but I absolutely loved Vice and Mairi. Beyond the hot sex (and I'll get to that in a moment), I'm so amazed at the way Davidson artfully uses kink to explore deeper nuances of characters' personalities. Both of these characters are exhibitionist kinksters, but for incredibly different reasons. Vice's kink seems wrapped up in his desire for power and dominance, to make up for the helplessness he once felt as a child. Mairi's kink is also about power--but finding her own female power. She is someone who loves exhibition as a means of taking ownership of her own sexuality, her own destiny really. Together, these characters nearly lit my kindle on fire, and I loved watching the delicate dance between them. What I really loved about this novel was the second chance romance and the struggle Mairi goes through as she spies on Vice. The tension between them was so compelling, and oh, my goodness GRACIOUS can Davidson write a sex scene. Phew! If you are looking for excellent writing and hot erotic romance, this book delivers all the way. Highly recommend!

The Seduction Of Viscount Vice by Nicola Davidson is a fabulous read. This is a well-written, short historical romance, a great choice for those with limited time for reading. Ms Davidson has once again had me glued to my kindle. Vice and Mairi's story is loaded with humor, drama and sizzle. The characters in this book are perfect for this story and simply amazing. I don't usually give a book of this length a five star rating but I loved this one so much I must. I enjoyed The Seduction Of Viscount Vice and look forward to reading more from Nicola Davidson in the future. The Seduction Of Viscount Vice is book 3 of the Fallen Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Book 3 in the Fallen series see Vice in the company of the one woman he loved but thought dead and whose treachery just may bring the club down.

Mairi is back in England with her employer who is starting a new business, to help with the success she has to spy on Fallen and learn its secrets so they can gain the advantage, she doesn't realise that Vice is one of the owners and that even now after 10 years her feelings are still the same, but she has a debt to pay with her employer and dreams to fulfil and can't let sentiment get in the way, but there is also trickery afoot.

I love Vice and his brusque Scottishness and Mairi's naivety, I couldn't put this down, just like the other two books in the series.

I voluntarily received an advanced readers copy from Netgalley and chose to leave my opinion.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. This is a well written and highly erotic love story. Iain and Mairi's love endured a 10 year separation when she leave England to escape an arranged marriage. There were obstacles they had to overcome but finally came together. I would recommend this book along with the previous Fallen books. They will not disappoint. Loved the cover.

Well written and fun

I enjoyed all three of the short, sexy books in this series. I liked Mairi and Vice’s backstory, and I liked the supporting characters here, especially Mairi’s gay manservant. A longer book could have delved deeper into character and plot, but while superficial, this story didn’t leave me frustrated by the lack of depth or detail.
