Very engaging. I had thought it's a story about the marriage of 2 guys, but it's not (damn!).
The narrator Tian is a 28 years old gay guy who is trying to look for a partner to settle down with, but ends up repeatedly looking for ONS on Jack'd instead. His best friend Kai is a straight guy, who on the other hand, does not believe in marriage. One day, Kai learnt that his ex-girlfriend Xiang (whom he just broke up with recently) is pregnant with his child. Interestingly, this brought the two of them back together again and even with plans to wed. Tian watched this in envy and wondered if gay relationships would not be so shortlived, if gays are also allowed to marry, and even start families.
2 other good friends of Tian - Kenny and Ray, are a gay couple for 15 years. In an unfortunate event, Ray passed away. Following his death, as the couple was not legally recognised in Taiwan, the salon that was managed by the couple went back to Ray's family, leaving Kenny jobless. When Ray's body was to be transported to be incinerated, Kenny was told that only family members could proceed, and was asked to leave.
I found it difficult to put the book down as the story develops very quickly. I was emotionally affected at certain parts as it reminded me of some of my real encounters in life :( Overall, the language is simple and very easy to understand. The ending was brilliant too.
