The tarot has been a part of my personal and professional life for nearly twenty years. I first discovered the Tarot in college. Right from the start, the tarot intrigued me with its marvelous blending of mythology, psychology, art, history mystery, and magic.
My education in the tarot has been and continues to be broad and enlightening. I am grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to study under renowned tarot scholars Mary K. Greer and Rachel Pollack. I have also had the privilege to share the wonders of the tarot with all manner of wide-eyed, would-be tarot readers.
I enjoy giving a voice to tarot cards by writing the books that accompany decks. I have had the good fortune to write books and booklets for several decks, including A Guide to Mystic Faerie Tarot (Llewellyn, July 2007), The Gilded Tarot Companion (Llewellyn, September 2004), The Enchanted Oracle (Llewellyn, September 2008), The Mystic Dreamer Tarot (Llewellyn, September 2008), and Shadowscapes Tarot (Llewellyn, May 2010). Recently, I finished writing a new edition of Tarot for Beginners (Llewellyn, November 2010).
My articles on the tarot have appeared in several tarot publications and in Llewellyn's New Worlds of Mind and Spirit.
Over the years, I have been very active in the tarot community. I am a founding member of the Minnesota Area Tarot Symposium and have spoken at tarot conferences around the United States. In July of 2010, I had the pleasure of attending the Tarot Association of the British Isles (TABI) Annual Conference as keynote speaker.
In addition to teaching tarot classes and providing personal readings, I currently work as a consultant for tarot publishers Llewellyn Worldwide and Lo Scarabeo. I also contribute bi-weekly posts to Llewellyn's Tarot Pathways blog. I am very excited to be working on designing several forthcoming tarot decks as well as another book for tarot newbies on spread design.
I followed Rann ages ago on the social platform DeviantArt. I knew about her project of illustrating the tarot cards, but I was too young and too poor to dream that I will have these cards once. I remembered her later, and found out the tarot deck is still available, so I ordered it years later. As before, I am still captivated by the artwork of the cards, even though the paper could be thicker, as current cards are a bit flimsy. I also appreciate, that you have full colored book available with the pictures and reading, most companies usually include only little booklet with few words which will tell you nothing. This book is excellent for the beginners, as it will tell you about the used vocabulary, history of cards, etc. I am also glad there were few examples included how to read more cards. Also, the autor seems rational and also mentioning the psychology of the cards, not any kind of the spiritual deity, which was interesting for me.
For a book like this, with such insights into the meanings of the cards, it doesn't even really need to be a companion to a specific deck. Moore's interpretations of the symbols of the Tarot are revealing and sometimes radical for this seasoned Tarot reader. This is not to say they contradict meanings that I am used to: rather they bring further nuance to the cards, especially some reversed readings. The narrative of The Fool's Journey is a joy to read, and will also likely contribute to the cards' interpretations. The fact that this is a companion book to a beautifully illustrated deck by Rann is just icing on the cake. And I'm at a loss for words to describe just how gorgeous and magical Rann's artwork is here.
This was my very first tarot deck, given to me by my fiancé, and it will likely be my forever-deck. While it says 'Manga' in its name, it really doesn't give you that vibe; after all, there's no Naruto, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, none of that here. The artist, Rann, is an absolute master at their craft and it shows in every single card.
The meanings are easy to glean from the illustrations, the art is absolutely gorgeous, and the book that accompanies the deck is easy to understand and learn from. The card-stock is a little thin, but I honestly prefer it; it makes it easier to shuffle and draw from.
I absolutely recommend this deck if you can get your hands on one!
I received this deck as a gift from a friend and absolutely love it! Both the cards and guide book are so beautifully illustrated, the colors are vibrant and the artist's style is gorgeous~ I think these card illustrations are some of my favorites.
I was pleasantly surprised that the guide book was not only in color, but a full book as opposed to the little paper mini guides in some decks. The interpretation for each card embraced the classic meanings but, at the same time, had new and unique takes that I really liked.
I have been reading tarot for 6-ish years and found this deck to be a breath of fresh air, definitely recommending this for new and seasoned readers alike!
Colorful cards and book, and far above the average when it comes to content with companion tarot books. The cards are simply beautiful and the companion book has everything that new tarot readers need to get you up and reading the cards. If you are new to the tarot, or just an anime/manga fan like myself, I would recommend this as it makes my inner weeb jump in delight.
Este es el primer tarot que adquiero, las cartas son preciosas y la caja igual. El libro viene con ejemplos, es muy detallada y da una excelente explicación de cada una de las cartas. Me gusto mucho, el detalle es que está en inglés.
The cards are absolutely beautiful! The guide book is super helpful for a beginners look into tarot. The descriptions aren’t overwhelming but give you a good starting point!
La descripción de cada carta funciona bien con sus ilustraciones. Resume perfectamente el funcionamiento del tarot centrándose en mostrar como funciona esta edición.
