That's what Cole said as he crumbled to the ground.
Everything changes when Alexandra escapes the coup at PharmaCorp. She must adjust to the fact Jane is no longer the villain. She's just an inept survivor traveling North toward safety with a group of hand-selected Fighters to help her get there.
As they push into the unknown Death Fields in the Midwest they must fight Eaters, harsh winter weather and the dregs of humanity.
Alex also must deal with the fact she may never see Wyatt again and that she left Cole for dead.
One thing that Alex has learned is that in the apocalypse, can she trust that anyone is ever really gone?
My heart breaks right there, crackling under the pressure of this shitty life where we fight for every second. The calm of the last three months means nothing if the instant you walk out the door you have to choose between surviving and being with the one you love. I’m sick of this war, the Eaters, and the never-ending struggle to live. ***
When I finished THE GIRL WHO KICKED A** I had my heart in my throat with worry and what all conspired with Cole. Then add Alex on the run from Chloe and her hybrids, with Jane who quite possibly may be the worst person ever to face the zombie apocalypse. Even if she was the one that created these things. Life is not looking good for them.
But here I am writing a review for book 4 of a 6 book series. And here you are reading it. At least I hope you are. I hate writing book reviews for a book this far in. I am always in fear that it will spoil it for others who haven’t gotten this far yet. Not to mention, if you have made it this far into the story, you obviously are wanting to continue. I know I am. It is a fantastic series. In fact, as soon as I am done with my review, I am all over the next book. This series is a straight up addiction for me.
A bit of a surprise in this book was Wyatt’s POV. I worried about him when him and Alex parted ways. I worried we may have seen the last of him. Thankfully that wasn’t so. It was great seeing how he was faring since we last heard from him in THE GIRL WHO KICKED A**. Even if life isn’t so great for him, at least we know he was still around, alive, and kicking.
*** If there is one thing I have learned in this life, it is to bask in the sun while I can. Darkness and all the bad stuff that comes with it is never far away. ***
Lawson has done such an amazing job with this series so far and I have every right to believe it will continue to get even better with the last two books. Even if we end THE GIRL WHO KISSED THE SUN on such a harrowing predicament. With every twist of the plot and each turn of the page I become more and more enchanted with the story. It really is a great series and this book only added to it’s greatness. Another 5 Stars!
Honestly, every book is even better than the last and I am LOVING this series! And it's taken a while but the Alex and Wyatt moments were totally worth the wait too.
I reviewed books 1-3 and I absolutely loved them! Of course, that meant I just had to buy book 4. I had to know what happened. So much is happening in this book. Each character has been through so much together and separately. You never can tell who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. People change sides so quickly in this series. I am anxious to find out what Chloe is up to, what happens to Wyatt and Cole. Most of all, I am thrilled about Wyatt & Alex. Cole was ok but I am team Wyatt all the way! I will be looking for book 5 as soon as it comes out.....
The fourth book in the Death Fields series and it continues on in the same vein, with more of Alex and her friends' fight to save the world. I started this series this week and have been spending every spare moment reading it. A thrilling adventure with a strong heroine and very interesting secondary characters. This book contains a scene I have been waiting (semi-)patiently for so, YAY! I can't wait to read more (at the same time not wanting the series to end!)
By far, this is my least favorite book in the series. It felt too Twilighty, too Bella-Edward-Jacob-y. But then it improved by the end, and thus I continue the series. The writing style, or rather the arrangement of early chapters and points of view caused me a lot of confusion. I struggled to keep straight whose perspective I was reading, and which companion characters where with which character. This is not something I usually struggle with.
Who knew that the zombie apocalypse would be fascinating reading? Not me. I would've told you that I'm not going to enjoy zombies. But this series was recommended by a friend, and I would've missed a great author, and a fascinating story!
Oh man, what just happened!?! Wyatt, Alex and Cole have the most complex and complicated relationship triangle I’ve ever read. I can’t believe after all of this that that just happened! I’m not going to say anything else because I don’t want to give anything away but oh my goddess this was great!
During the end of the world who can you really trust? This is what Alex is struggling with. Can you trust the new found friends, family or the people who are suppose to have your best interests at heart? For a 16/17 year old this is of course the natural questions and problems you deal with but now they are for life or death situations. Alex is a strong young woman who has to make the hardest choices and you find yourself right beside her during them. Great series so far.
Another chapter in Alex's crazy life, except that Jane is not evil incarnate anymore. It was amusing to read about Jane being out in the Death Fields she created instead of safe in her lab or Fort. Of course Alex and her traveling companions manage to get in and out of trouble on their way to a safe place according to Jane (or is it)? Once I started reading I had to read until the end just to see what happened next to Alex. And to see who showed up again. I think someone is dead or long gone but they have a habit of showing up again when you least expect it. Ok I wait for the wild twists that always come. I just love this series and how Angel writes. She keeps me entertained and always guessing.
Although our girl seems to have lost some of her leadership and fighting skills (why?????), the book still had good scenes and finally admission of love between Wyatt and h, followed immediately by loss of freedom and presumed death. I don't believe the H is dead even for a minute so I will be counting hours until the next book is out.
