Ivy Morgan #8

Wicked Winter

Rate this book
Happiness, joy and a proposal? Merry Christmas from Shadow Lake.
Jack Harker is a nervous wreck. He has big Christmas plans for his girlfriend Ivy Morgan, and they involve a ring and house renovations all at one time. First, he has to make sure they both make it through a tense holiday season, though.
For Ivy, things are less clear. She knows Jack is hiding something but can’t figure out exactly what. Her problems are only compounded by the fact that her parents have delayed their usual winter travel plans, her brother is a terrible liar, and she feels as if everyone is in on a secret that she can’t quite grasp.
Things go from bad to worse during a shopping outing when a masked robber is shot in the back by his partner and left to die in Ivy’s arms. Ivy is determined to find the truth behind the man’s actions, and even Jack can’t talk her down when determination and desperation clash.
Jack knows Ivy is incapable of letting it go so it’s his job to make sure she doesn’t trip over trouble she can’t find her way out of. In the end, hearts and minds will collide when Ivy realizes she already knows the answer … but has to survive to share the truth.
It’s a race to the finish line, with Jack trying to give Ivy the best holiday gift ever and Ivy trying to overcome her own fear and let him.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, but it might not end with a happy holiday if Jack and Ivy can’t put together the pieces of a murder in time for peace, joy … and forever.

Ivy comes across as a whiny little spoiled brat for the first half of the book. It was disappointing. Spoiler alert: If she doesn't do some serious growing up, I give the upcoming marriage a year or two before it implodes.
Her attitude, while presumably supposed to be entertaining, was irritating and detracted from the plot.

What a Christmas story

I honestly don't know how an author can make a series keep getting better. This was the sweetest Ivy Morgan book yet!! I can't wait to see how it gets better, and what's next for Ivy and Jack.

It is almost Christmas, and Ivy thinks Jack is hiding something, she just isn't sure what. But when she saves her mother in a mall and watches a man die things start to get a little crazy for her. She does what she can to move on, but she knows something is not right, and when she focuses on the secret Jack is hiding it may end up spoiling her Christmas.

This was another good book in this series. I loved how Jack was acting in this one, and I felt bad for Ivy at times, but I was also annoyed with her. I wish she just would have let it go, but she didn't. I was also really surprised that her "powers" didn't help her out much in this one.

I thought this one was really good, and I look forward to more now.

Wicked Winter

Well we, the readers, finally reach the expected outcome. The mystery is adequate, however the characters are becoming increasingly unrealistic. Ivy is impractical in her stubbornness circumventing danger. Though Jack argues with Ivy, he bows to her tantrums with sugary diatribes. I hope the author works on mellowing out the characters, somewhat.

I was really enjoying this series until it just started getting redundant. I have to agree with some other readers that I’m not seeing any personal growth happening with Ivy and Jack. I loved the first few books because Ivy was strong and independent. 8 books later she’s codependent and insecure. I think I’m done with this series.

Mistletoe and Ivy..

As Christmas approaches Jack elicits Max's help with his proposal plans for Ivy. Going all out Jack wants to make a grand gesture and surprise her with a complete refurbishment of the basement to give them a home big enough for their future family.

Luna takes Ivy for a day at the mall so the men can plan without interruption. Trouble has a way of finding Ivy; this time she's caught up in a shooting and one of the criminal gang is shot by another member and dies in Ivy's lap uttering one last word, "Mitchell", before he dies.

Ivy stumbles upon Jack's files, while she's trying to take her mind off the previous day's events and when he snaps about them being private gets herself in a knot over him having something to hide. Even with everyone pointing out that it's Christmas and they're all hiding gifts Ivy just can't let it go. Jack has just the solution to stop her in her tracks and tells her exactly what he was planning.. then warns her she's blown it and the proposal will have to wait until he can surprise her..

As the couple continue to torment each other over "the ring" the case moves closer to home and it seems that they're following Ivy. When a fire breaks out at the victims place of work and another body is found Jack and Brian are determined to finish it before the holidays begin.

Can they work it out and catch the gang? And most importantly will Ivy get her surprise proposal and ring on Christmas Day?

Wicked Winter

I love this series. One of the things that drew me in was a note from the author in the first book saying her witch abilities would grow over time. I love seeing something new come about with her abilities in each book. Ivy and Jack are a favorite book couple of mine. They are sweet and spicy. They love each other so much but still continue to fight when needed and always make up.
I'm usually good at spotting the "bad guys" in mystery books but this one took me by surprise. I figured out some of them but not all of them. I liked the surprise though.
I enjoyed seeing how much Ivy and Jack have grown as a couple, Ivy has gotten used to being in trouble but this time she always makes sure she has back up. I love that she's growing and letting Jack know when something possibly bad is happening. It saves some heartache for them both. Ivy's whole family is a hoot and I love getting to see them in every book. Max will always be my favorite! The relationship with her and Max is special and I love when they have scenes together!
Overall this is a great addition to the Ivy Morgan series and I can't wait for more to come! I am left with one question though, what did she get Jack for Christmas? 😂

Jack has some special plans for Ivy this christmas. If she can keep from ruining it with her over thinking. Ivy and her mother are at the mall shopping when some armed robbers come through. One of them gets shot by he partner and he dies in Ivys arms.. Now it seems that Ivy has a mystery to solve along with trying to figure out what Jack might be hiding from her.
I do enjoy these books, but well it seems that even though we are on book 8, and they gotten through a visit from Jacks mom and sister that she still doesn't trust him. This ends up ruining Jacks Christmas surprise. Jack and Ivy also argue alot, especially when she has discovered a body and Jack tries to make her stay safe, and Ivy doesn't want to.. They are too very very stubborn people, who are extremly co-dependant.. I will continue to read the series and other books by Lily Harper Hart. I am loving the mysteries, and the characters like 90% of the time.

Entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. Spectacularly entertaining cast of characters and a great storyline. Ivy and Jack are ready for a new adventure, with Christmas right around the corner Jack and his partner Brian are loving a slow time at the police station, Jack is excited to spend his first Christmas with Ivy he has special plans for the love of his life.
Ivy is a bit bored at this time of year the nursery is closed but she has Christmas to distract her and Ivy loves a good holiday she is extra excited this year with this being her and Jacks first Christmas together so it's time for some Christmas shopping.

Ivy really hates the mall but when her Mum asks her to go Christmas shopping how can she say no but boy in the end she wishes she did say no.............. Trouble has found Ivy again and Jack feels the need to save the day and wrap Ivy in cotton wool all at the same time ...lol

Another wonderfully delightful mystery.

I tried. God knows I tried. I managed to slog through the first 7 books because my best friend gave them to me. However, there are problems with these books that are big and small. First, this powerful and strong woman becomes helpless when a man walks into her life AND they keep talking about her how strong she is while Jack tells her what to do. Perhaps, her strength is that she didn't use her magic to send him to another dimension.

Small but annoying, the grammar and word order of this book is terrible. Small but made me want to find Ms. Hart and shake her, the overuse of the same words with the wrong meanings, for example, scorched.

What woman rags her boyfriend to death to propose? Ivy of course! If I was Jack, I'd take the ring back and never propose. These characters could be so great and have wonderful storylines if the author would just stop with the backstories. Just focus on the plot! No more eating in the bathtub and the constant need to be with each other. No person who is in law enforcement, no matter how small the town, let's the significant other go along with them on any task; it's just ridiculous in these stories. I'm about 3/4 of the way thru this book.

Is Ivy in trouble again?

Ivy always seems to be in some type of trouble, and this time is no different. Well, it may be a little different because this time she gets herself in her own trouble with Jack, but she also lands in trouble that isn't her fault. I love how Jack handles the problem with Ivy and I couldn't help but laugh through some of it. Definitely a good rainy afternoon read that will leave you with a smile on your face.

The "Schmaltz Twins" are Back!! <3

Wicked Winter is an engaging mystery with lots of humor & sweet romance! I love the banter between Ivy & Jack, Ivy & her brother Max, & Max & Jack. I find myself either laughing out loud or saying aawwww. This is just such a fun series & this one is the best with its wonderful conclusion.

Christmas is supposed to be fun,Right?? So What Happened?

Christmas is here but Ivy doesn’t want to go shopping with her Mother - it’s just a feeling that things aren’t quite the way they should be. When the shopping trip goes South for reals, Ivy makes things even worse by making a scene with Jack. That in turn causes so dire consequences.

This is another winner. I highly recommend all her book and different series. All are great. I have read over 50 of her books and loved every one of them. I am even reading them again. They are over 5 years so I forget them and can read them again. Diana Romano

It was ok.

Ivy was a little too whiny, spoiled and annoying. Everyone in the books are always telling her how strong she is but she comes off as insecure and naive. I'm going through the series but I'm really not enjoying Ivy too much. Jack, Max, and Felicity are a lot more interesting.

Another great add to the series. This is what we've all been waiting for since book one! I was surprised at where this was going and it felt different from other books who try to do this kinda story line. So many great things to come next with the way it ended. Can't wait for the next.

The continuing tale of Ivy Morgan

A good story, only gave it a four because of the rehash going on, seemed like just trying to fill pages. Can recommend the book, it is fun if you skip over the repeated information.

About time

Ivy is maturing. Finally. There was a lot less whining and posturing in this one, which believe me, improved it a great deal. The mystery is a bit more engaging, though it could have been stronger.

5 stars! This story was everything I wanted it to be, and the ending was just perfection. It was a good mix of sweet and snarky. The mystery was great, and the killer's identity caught me off guard. Looking forward to more!

LOL funny and full of heart, as are all the books in the series.

Enough drama to make it a complete story but not enough to make it depressing and dark. Like snowflake shaped marshmallows, light and sweet.

Very, very romantic

A little too romantic for my taste. I think I read the words "I love you" more times than there were pages in the book. I like a little romance or humor with my mysteries. But this time I felt it was more of a little mystery with my romance. It was a good mystery. If you love romance with a side of mystery, you will love this book.

Annoying but ok in the end

My goD I wanted to quit reading halfway through Ivy was so whiney. Guess I'm glad I finished it but it was a trial. What were you thinking? Hope the next is more readable because I was enjoying the series til this one.
