Nicky’s been rebuilding her shattered life since her husband’s death two years ago. But Garrett’s timely arrival in Wrangler’s Creek doesn’t automatically make him the missing piece of the puzzle. No Getting Over a Cowboy is book two in the Wrangler’s Creek series by Delores Fossen and narrated by Eric G. Dove.

Nicky’s trying to rebuild her life after losing her husband and trying to move on with her child. She hopes going back to the house that gave her peace when she was a hurt child will help.

Garret never excepted to lose his wife to another man and his child to a miscarriage. Going home to the family ranch was suppose to help. Give him peace and quiet, but he wasn’t counting on his mother renting out an old house on the ranch to a bunch of widows.

Just like book one we are off to another fun filled novel full of romance, mystery, suspense, a whole lot of love and drama. Nicky and Garret knew each other as kids. He’s the one man she could never forget and Garret can’t forget the night he took her virginity. They discover that half a lifetime can’t dose the flame they still have for each other. Theirs plenty of drama with real life issues, a dead body in the old house, and a meddling mother who’s trying to matchmaker

I adored Nicky’s little girl Kaylee. Kids always add something special to a story; especially if an author does it wright. All the characters are richly developed, the story is written well and flows, and the author brings out a wide range of emotions within this novel.

Narration: I find that I enjoy Contemporary Romance a whole lot more in audio. I think it’s; because the stories move along and flow better in audio then reading. Eric G. Dove did a wonderful job with all the characters and voices. Each voice was distinctive and she had me glued and invested in the storyline and mystery as well as the romance.

No Getting Over a Cowboy was a wonderful edition to the Wrangler’s Creek series. I enjoyed!

Garret is trying to overcome the loss of his child and get back to life and coming home to work on the family ranch was suppose to help, give him quiet and allow him to grow the ranch. Although he didn’t count on his mother renting out his Grandmother’s old house to a bunch of widows.

Nicky’s been trying to rebuild her life after losing her husband, who wasn’t all that good to begin with but that is the hand she was dealt, so she is trying to move on with her child and hopes going back to the house that gave her peace when she was being hurt as a child will help.

What a great book, Delores Fossen has another hit on her hands. Not only does this book have romance, but add in a few quirky and wild women, a dead body, pasts that are coming to light and you have a great book to read. It will have you laughing at some of the crazy things that happens through this romantic roller coaster Nicky and Garrett are riding.

This book was a wonderful read! It is filled with romance, mystery, suspense and a whole lot of love. The two main characters are Nicky and Garrett. They know each other from when they were teenagers. Nicky is a widow and Garrett is divorced. No more spoilers. The main characters as well as the secondary ones are richly developed. The story is incredibly well written and flows smoothly. This book will bring out a wide range of emotions. I laughed, a lot. I cried a little bit too. I had moments of anger at the stupidity of some men too! They can be so dense sometimes, can't they? I absolutely loved the widow's at the Widow's House. You will love these quirky characters as well. They will have you cracking up and laughing out loud. Oh, the drama, I forgot about all the drama in this book. I am not usually one for cowboy books, but this book is so much more than that. I believe everyone should pick up this book and give it a shot. You truly won't regret it. I would characterize this as a good women's fiction book. No Getting Over A Cowboy, right ladies? You'll love it!! I did!

Good second chance romance. Garrett has come home to the family ranch to heal. He's still grieving for his daughter, who was stillborn and dealing with the fallout of his divorce. There's nothing quite so embarrassing as having your wife's cheating activities becoming a YouTube sensation. Just as he's settling into some serious ranch work, he finds an old flame has invaded the very section he has plans for.

Nicky is rebuilding her life after her husband's death. Her idea is to start a retreat for widows who are trying to deal with their losses, so she has rented an old house on the Granger land. This gives her a purpose for her life and a place to raise her daughter. It also gives her the chance to deal with some issues from her past.

From the moment they see each other again, there are sparks flying between Garrett and Nicky. They are sparks that neither one is happy about. Garrett still feels some guilt about the way he treated Nicky back then, and Nicky doesn't want to risk heartbreak again. Garrett is determined to get the women off his land, but Nicky digs in her heels. Things get more interesting when a skeleton is found in a closet, and the house becomes a crime scene. A temporary move of the women to the main ranch house throws Nicky and Garrett together, and the flames start to burn brighter. But Nicky has some secrets that could derail anything building between them.

I ached for Nicky, who had overcome so much to get where she is. Her home life had been miserable, with an abusive drunk for a father. Her short time as Garrett's girlfriend had been the only happiness she had, and she was heartbroken when he dumped her soon after their one night together. Her marriage had been bad, with a cheating husband who had numerous affairs. I loved seeing her happiness with her daughter and her satisfaction in being able to help the other widows.

I ached a bit for Garrett too. He's tired of being the object of pity because of the end of his marriage and just wants to be able to move on from it. Harder to deal with is the grief he still feels over the loss of his daughter. His pain was clear when he first saw Nicky's daughter Kaylee, who is the same age his daughter would have been. I loved seeing how being around her helped ease his grief and that he grew to love Kaylee for herself. I loved how he saw some of Nicky's vulnerabilities and was sensitive to them as some of her secrets were revealed.

There's plenty of chaos, fun, and mystery as the widows settle into the house and Garrett and Nicky try to deal with it all while fighting their attraction. Each of the widows, and one divorcee, have their own stories and quirks. From Garrett's ex, who claims to be there for counseling over the loss of her baby but is obviously there to try to get Garrett back, to Loretta, the old widow who finds the skeleton, there is never a dull moment. The three sisters are especially amusing with their P-word phobia, and G rated cussing. Garrett's mother, Belle, who gave the lease to Nicky, is obviously trying her hand a matchmaking. There are twists and turns in the search for the identity of the skeleton in the closet, with a surprise revelation at the end of the quest.

There is also a darker mystery involving Nicky and whoever is sending her anonymous roses. Nicky knows who it is and is obviously afraid of what it means. As their relationship progresses, she knows she needs to tell Garrett the truth, but she's afraid of his reaction. When that part of her past arrives in Wrangler's Creek, ready to make trouble, her delay creates some extra complications. I loved how Garrett came through in the end, and all was resolved. I liked seeing both Garrett and Nicky finally able to admit their feelings for each other. The last few lines of the book really summed up their relationship well. I'm really looking forward to Roman's book.

The Granger Ranch doesn’t just keep cattle. They seem to have plenty of pasturage for an entire herd of drama llamas. Maybe two herds.

Just like the first book in the Wrangler’s Creek series, Those Texas Nights, this one is off to the races from the very first page, and doesn’t let up until the very last sentence. And even then, only sort of lets up, because I fully expect the entire series to be just this kind of crazy.

If you like your romances beginning in chaos, middling in chaos, and ending in chaos, this is a great series.

But about all that insanity, and some of it is, it makes for a very wild ride that occasionally feels like it is going to throw the reader completely off the track. Instead, it’s more like a roller coaster, where just as you pass the crest of the big hill and think you’re going to fly out of your seat, the seat belt (and gravity) pull you back firmly into the ride.

Our story begins with Garrett Granger expecting to add pasturage near his great-grandfather Z.T.’s eyesore of a tumbledown Victorian monstrosity in the middle of Granger Ranch. But instead of seeing a vacant and decaying house, he discovers that the long-abandoned homestead is a beehive of activity.

His mother, Belle, about whom more later, has leased the house to a widow’s support group for an entire year, to serve as a retreat and healing center. Belle just never bothered to tell him, and doesn’t seem to give a damn about the ranch plans that Garrett not only had, but had informed her of. And this is unfortunately typical behavior for Belle.

As soon as Garrett meets the organizer of the “Widow’s House” he figures out exactly what his mother has in mind. That organizer is Nicky Marlow, and Garrett remembers all too clearly the night that Nicky gave him her virginity at that very same house, back when they were both in high school.

It may have been half a lifetime ago, but it seems that neither of them has ever forgotten. And his mother is matchmaking again.

But it was a lifetime ago. Garrett broke up with Nicky, fell in love with another girl (unfortunately not in that order) and eventually married that other girl. He and Meredith had a daughter who was stillborn, and eventually divorced. After Meredith got caught in a YouTube video giving some anonymous cowboy a blowjob.

A cowboy who turns out to have been Nicky’s older brother.

There’s plenty of fodder for those drama llamas just between Nicky and Garrett, without factoring in the other 15 widows and Nicky’s little daughter Kaylee – along with Garrett’s heartbreak at seeing a little girl who is just the age that his daughter would have been.

The discovery of a dead body in the pantry of the old house brings the police onto the scene, along with a whole lot more craziness. And in the middle of all of this, Garrett and Nicky discover that half a lifetime isn’t nearly enough to douse the fire they still raise in each other – even if they have a hell of a time finding a moment or two for each other in the midst of the insanity that surrounds them.

Escape Rating B+: This one went way, way over the top, but in a fun way. There are a couple of points where it seems like the long arm of coincidence is just a bit too long, but then it passes that point and the reader is just along for the ride.

There does not seem to be a single person in this story who isn’t in the middle of some kind of crazy. With the exception of Nicky and Garrett, it’s all in fun, from the three widowed sisters who all have variations of penis-phobia to the tow truck owner with execrable taste in advertising signs who is assuaging her grief with the entire male population of Wranglers Creek and everyone in between. In spite of the tragedies that made all of these women candidates for the Widow’s House, they are a fun and funny bunch, even if often unintentionally. The penis-phobic sisters are a laugh riot all by themselves, albeit usually at their own expense.

The heart of the story is Nicky and Garrett, along with little Kaylee and the machinations of Garrett’s ex-wife Meredith. That Meredith wants him back isn’t much of a surprise. That she thinks she has a chance of getting him back requires an extreme amount of either self-confidence or self-absorption. Having seen Meredith in action, it’s a bit of both.

But what keeps Nicky and Garrett apart is not Meredith’s shenanigans, not that she doesn’t try. Instead, it’s their shared past, and how it affects their present. Not just that long-ago tryst, or even that Garrett broke Nicky’s heart afterwards. Both of them carry a lot of baggage from those years in-between. Most of Garrett’s baggage is out in the open – it seems like everyone saw that video. But Nicky’s is hidden. Not just her horrific childhood in Wranglers Creek, but also her disastrous marriage and its one bright result, little Kaylee.

That there is a secret about Kaylee seems obvious fairly early on. But the nature of that secret is a complete surprise, and not one the reader expects. Also not one that is stock and trope, but still has all kinds of potential negative consequences. That this particular plot thread defied all of my expectations was very well done.

But as much as I liked Nicky, Garrett and Kaylee, I really, really, really don’t like Belle. I didn’t like her in Those Texas Nights, and I don’t like her any better here. I could go a long time without reading another book about adult children who have a certifiably crazy mother. Luckily she is not as big a part of this book as she was the first one, because she doesn’t seem to approve of the way that any of her children have turned out, even though they are all quite functional and successful adults. She acts so far out-there that her children have to continually placate her in ways that drove this reader crazier than Belle. And I’m continually astonished that someone in town, if not her children, doesn’t tell her where to get off and what she can do when she gets there.

Partially because there is more Belle in Those Texas Nights, and partially because the events in the first story that are really important for the second are recapped within the context of this story, it’s not absolutely necessary to read that first book in this series before the second. But it was a lot of fun if you can either ignore Belle or if her “type” doesn’t bother you as much as it does me.

I digress.

But as much as I don’t like their mother, I do like the Granger siblings very much. The chaotic nature of their journeys to their respective happy ever afters is a hoot from beginning to end. I’m very much looking forward to bad-boy Roman finding his own good-bad girl in Branded as Trouble, coming just in time for a sizzling Summer read.

Yet another winner when it comes to writing style, plot, and excitement. I have loved everything that Miss Fossen has written and this is no exception.
This book incorporates many characters from her other novels, such as Cassie, and it makes it stand out as an exceptional story.
Garrett Granger has had a tough life. First with his father, and then losing his daughter, and then having his wife cheat on him. Now back on the ranch working with his family he has been working hard to make it grow even more then it already is. But now, when he is finally making things prosper and is moving on with his future plans everything changes in a moment. The moment when he runs into an old acquaintance, an old friend, an old flame, and the one women he deflowered then left for his wife.
Nicky Marlow has had a tough life as well. First with her father, then her cheating husband, and then having to raise her daughter of her own. Now she is finally getting on with her life and her own emotional healing. The first step is opening the widow house. A home for the widows in her support group, a place where they can all heal together and hopefully find happiness along the way. The only downside to this great idea of hers? It is on the land of a man who took her virginity and then broke up with her a month later.
This was an excellent read with numerous secrets that in a normal book would be rushed to get out. And yet Ms Fossen managed to extract all of the secrets from her wonderful characters without making it feel rushed. This was a read you will not want to miss out on. That I can definitely promise you.
Disclaimer: There is sex in this book, as well as some hilarious characters with completely different personalities.

Favorite Quotes:

‘Panties in a Bunch ‘Cause Your Car Won’t Start? Use Camel-Tow!’ That’s what was printed on the magnetic sign on the door of the tow truck.

‘I used to diaper both of you boys.’ Garrett hoped like the devil that she didn’t want to do a boxers check to see if she recognized his equipment.

Roman had had a bad attitude since birth. According to their mother, when he’d come out breech, he’d immediately kicked the doctor in the balls.

Your aunt had h-o-t p-a-n-t-s, and I don’t think Loretta meant they were really short shorts.

There’s a really hot cowboy unclogging a toilet... Never thought of that as hot, but he managed to make it look spellbinding. He’s got an audience, too. I think a couple of the women are hoping for a butt-crack showing.

My Review:

I know I am late in my discovery of her talent, but No Getting Over A Cowboy was my fourth of many more to come Delores Fossen reads. I adored the amusing visuals her clever words generated in my skull. I always enjoy her humorous and witty observations and descriptions, odd characters, and intriguing storylines. Her stories are typically active and eventful with several subplots containing long-buried secrets, humor, intriguing mysteries, adult romance, cute kids, endearingly flawed protagonists, quirky characters with mysterious agendas, and unpredictable and highly satisfying conclusions. I barked aloud several times and frequently wore a smirk on my face as I read this delightfully busy second chance romance with the most eccentric collection of widows the south has ever produced, and that is saying something.

Garrett Granger was all set to expand the pond near his great-grandfather’s house, acquire more cattle, when word comes that some women, widows, have invaded the dilapidated house. And the widow in charge is none other that Nicky Marlow, whom Garrett dated all but one month eighteen years ago, back in high school. Garrett had dumped Nicky for Meredith, who became his wife, now ex-wife. Nicky also has her little daughter Kaylee along, which aggravates Garrett’s feeling of loss; he lost his daughter. Nicky says she’s not moving from what will be The Widows’ House, Garrett says she’ll stay there over his dead body. Well, not really, however there is literally a skeleton in the closet!

There’s no getting around it: NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY is a fantastic book! Delores Fossen pulls all the stops: there is a lot of drama, much comedy, quite a bit of mystery, a wonderful romance, and even a burgeoning second romance! Ms. Fossen has such a way with words that I don’t believe I will ever forget the jaw-dropping description of the ancient, garish Granger house. Garrett is still heartbroken over his failed marriage, he’s rather cynical, but Nicky doesn’t need any more worries and heartache than she already has, and she intends to open her refuge for widows whether Garrett likes it or not; he’s not the only one making decisions. But both Garrett and Nicky have secrets, and they’re not the only ones!

There are many characters in NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY, and Ms. Fossen has everyone fully fleshed out, a lot of them are truly memorable, and even if nothing much happened, those extraordinary characters would have made this book worth reading: the Ellery sisters, and the drop-dead gorgeous, utterly irresistible, single dad bad boy Roman Granger, Garrett’s brother, whose story I am dying to read! The story is very complex, and as multifaceted and colourful as a kaleidoscope: there is absolute mayhem, side-splitting humour, a sexy-sweet romance, and a great suspense: I hung onto Ms. Fossen’s every word! I'm not usually crazy about children in romances, but little Kaylee was just perfect, she stole my heart!

NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY hits all the right spots, and the super talented Delores Fossen has outdone herself big time with this book, and that is saying a heck of a lot! Absolutely fabulous from the first page to the last!

No Getting Over a Cowboy was more of an experience to me than reading a book. I was right there in the middle of the story, observing, feeling and sharing the events that had me smiling, laughing, and even broke my heart a bit. The characters felt like my friends that I was visiting, and I was sad to leave them behind.
The whole story is written with such vivid images and invites the reader into the world created by the author, a world of friends, lovers, family, life, love, and heartbreak. But most of all it is a world where you can face your inner demons and troubles, learn from the past experiences, and grow as a human being, to reach your potential.
I loved the characters, the whole ensemble of the people from the ranch hands to the widows, the family and friends and town folks. They each have an important role in the development of the story and they carried that responsibility well.
Garrett Granger as a hero was drool worthy for sure, handsome, sexy, kind, considerate good guy, who means well even when occasionally stepping on toes of others. He is a complex character who had conquered his past the best he could, he wasn't afraid to show emotions, as clumsy as some of the attempts were. I adored him, simply said. And Nicky Marlow was definitely his soul mate.
Nicky had endured so much in her childhood, the memories still haunting her day and night. Her ability to face them step by step and scream on the face of the demons hunting her had me in tears. There's a brilliant metaphorical scene where she and Garrett get the ultimate reward from their battles with the past, where the frame of their pain crumbles down and give them freedom from the pain.
This series is getting just better with each unique installment. There are danger and threats, loving and lies, betrayal and secrets, the whole tale resembling life in its caricature way of exaggerated personalities and life events they face. I adored every moment I got to spent with them in that chaotic way of life at the Wrangler's Creek, Texas. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity for a visit!

No one does humor and romance like Delores Fossen. When I open one of her books, I know there will be more than a few grins and giggles on the road to happily ever after. I got those grins and giggles and, I admit, even several guffaws reading the latest in her Wrangler’s Creek series. No Getting Over A Cowboy is a wonderful love story with the perfect blend of humor and passion.

After losing his child and then losing his wife in a tabloid worthy breakup, Garrett Granger had returned home to Wrangler’s Creek to run the family ranch. Garrett had once been considered the golden boy of Wrangler’s Creek, but his life had taken a nosedive in the last three years. Everyone knew how his marriage had ended and he was tired of the “poor pitiful” looks. Garrett at least found solace in running the ranch. He made all the key decisions on the ranch and knew everything that went on there. Until now. Garrett discovered that his great grandfather’s house, a house sitting in the middle of land he had plans for, had been leased by his mother to a woman opening a retreat for widows. Ready to confront the woman in charge and send her packing, Garrett comes face to face with his past. Nicky Henderson. The cute blonde flute player he’d deflowered in this very house 17 years ago. And then dumped her.
Nicky had returned to Wrangler’s Creek wanting to start a place of respite for women who’d lost their partners and were trying to piece their lives back together. Something Nicky had been trying to do for 18 months, since her husband died, leaving her and her daughter, Kaylee, alone. But her need to be pieced together wasn’t just from grief. She’d had other things to deal with as well. Z.T. Granger’s house had seemed like the perfect place to heal. The house had set empty for 50 years. No one cared about it. Unlike her. She’d escaped to this house too many times to count. Had used it to heal mentally and physically. Nicky had secrets. A couple she was trying to forget that could further complicate what she was trying to do in Wrangler’s Creek, and one secret that could destroy her. Running into Garrett Granger on her first day back, the man with whom she’d made her awkward sexual debut, was not how she’d planned for her new life to start.
To add to her rocky return to Wrangler’s Creek, a skeleton is found in the house and the women are forced to vacate while the medical examiner processes the scene. With nowhere else to go, Garrett’s mother opens her home to the women. And before he could blink, Garrett had 16 widows and 2 kids living under his roof. Between the dead body investigation, the tight living quarters, and Garrett’s mother blatantly trying to play matchmaker, Nicky and Garrett couldn’t help but be thrown together. They managed to dance around their attraction to each other for a short while before they gave in. And even though they thought the timing stunk for both of them, they couldn’t resist. Garrett couldn’t seem to stop kissing Nicky and that punch of attraction hit even harder when he did. “He’d had the hots for her in high school and the years hadn’t cooled that heat one little bit.” Nicky had catalogued everything about Garrett in her memories. His taste, his scent, his touch. When he kissed her, it all came back. She had no more success holding back with him than she had as a teenager. “She wanted those old feelings gone by now, but they’d morphed into adult feelings.”
Just as their relationship begins to grow, Nicky’s past begins to surface. And Garrett discovers how little he knew about the horrors of her youth and the secret she’s been living with for the past 2 years. On top of that, Garrett’s ex has returned wanting to reconcile, and strange developments are coming to light in the case of the dead body. It all comes to a head at the end with the party from hell where everyone’s secrets are unveiled, the number of widows starts dropping at record speed, and a crab is on the loose.
What a story! I finished this book feeling like I’d just ridden the most thrilling roller coaster ever! Delores Fossen tackled some tough issues in this book, but she blended those poignant moments with such tenderness and humor that you come away feeling happy and hopeful. I loved seeing Nicky and Garrett purge the demons from their pasts. Garrett’s evolving relationship with Nicky’s daughter was especially touching. The secondary characters in this story are ones I won’t soon forget either. From D.M. with her tourettes outbursts that were uncannily appropriate for the situation, to the Ellery sisters with their phobias of certain parts of the male anatomy. Delores Fossen has a knack for creating characters that truly stand out and add so much to the story. I also loved getting to reconnect with characters from previous books. They’re like old friends now, and I loved catching up with them again. Not only did I get to enjoy an amazing story, I also learned something new. Thanks to Delores Fossen, I now have a whole new repertoire of G-rated profanity. I can’t wait to put these into use! A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection

Finished Delores Fossen's book, NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY. Loved it! heart So much for pacing myself. I stayed up later than I should have and finished it. The story had a little more serious tone than some of her other HQNs, simply because of the heroine's background, but there were still places where I laughed out loud. And others where I sighed. Can't wait for Roman's story!

Sometimes all you want is a half naked cowboy on a book cover.
I think the author had a a lot of great ideas but didn't execute them properly, there were so many things to keep track of which is interesting for a cowboy romance.

Chalk up another 5-star read from Delores Fossen! She certainly outdid herself in No Getting Over a Cowboy, the second novel in her Wrangler's Creek series. In most instances, I'm not a fan of an overly large cast of characters because they generally tend to muck up the plot and slow it down, but that's not the case in this novel at all, I'm happy to report.

The hero in this novel is Garrett Granger, who has one failed marriage behind him (his wife, Meredith, cheated on him), and one lost daughter whose loss he's been mourning for the past 3 years. He's back at the family ranch, attempting to grow the business by adding acreage, more cattle, and a large pond to the property, right next to an old house on the property that's been vacant for years. Imagine his surprise when, the day before the bulldozers arrive to start on the pond, he discovers that the old house is now peopled with a number of women he doesn't know and who are busy cleaning it, and an adorable 3-year-old girl is playing outside. There is one face among them that he does recognize--it's Nicky Marlowe, whom he deflowered in that same house when she was just 17 years old and then dumped one month later when he fell for his cheating, now ex-wife, Meredith.

Nicky's life has been anything but pleasant. Her father was an abusive alcoholic who regular beat Nicky, her mother and her brother, Kyle. Her mother didn't even try to protect her or her brother and Kyle fled the run-down old house and his abusive father as soon as he was able to, leaving Nicky there to take whatever abuse her father doled out--and it was plenty.

Eventually, Nicky married, and 18 months earlier, she lost her cheating husband to cancer. She decided that what was really needed was a Widow's House, a support group and a place for grieving women to reside and receive that support from other grieving women, as well as a non-resident therapist, whom we met in a previous novel. So Nicky rented what is known as Z.T.'s house from Belle Granger, Garrett's mother, and is moving in with her daughter, Kaylee, and a dozen widows. Oh, and just to make things more interesting and intriguing, it seems that Nicky is being stalked by someone who keeps sending her two yellow roses.

Garrett wants each and every one of them out of Z.T.'s so he can go ahead with his plan, presuming that the house belongs to him, but he soon learns that his mother had every right to rent it. He does get his wish (sort of) when a skeleton wearing Valentine boxer shorts is discovered in one of the rooms off of the kitchen, and the house becomes a crime scene. Since most of these women have nowhere else to go as the investigation proceeds, Belle offers to let them stay at the ranch until they can return to Z.T.'s house, and hold onto your hats, because once they move to the ranch, Ms. Fossen really outdoes herself a tour de force of plotting and writing.

I don't know anyone else who could take the aforementioned situation and switch it from a murder mystery, to a suspense novel, to a steamy second chance at love romance, to the zaniest cast of characters ever assembled between the covers of a book. This novel has it all, and it moved to me tears on one page and had me laughing like a loon at the hilarious dialogue and situations these characters end up in the next. It was, in many ways, like reading an I Love Lucy episode on steroids, and I loved each and every single second of it, from the adorable little Kaylee, to the pink Camel-Tow towing service vehicle owned by an incredibly horny, grieving widow who seems only to be grieving her sex life, to the 3 incredibly prudish sisters who all lost their husbands in the same boating accident, to the woman with Tourette's syndrome, whose outbursts are screamingly funny and always happen at the exact right moment. As crazy as it seems, this all works like a charm and made this novel an absolute joy to read. Delores Fossen, long may you write!

Oh, and by the way, the included bonus story is also excellent.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this novel and received no compensation for doing so. The opinions expressed are my own.

"No Getting Over a Cowboy" is the second book in Delores Fossen's Wrangler's Creek series. Having been introduced to Garrett in the first instalment, this second book focuses on him as he struggles to move past his ex-wife's infidelity- a process that is sped up when he reconnects with his high school girlfriend, Nicky Marlow. Struggling with her own past, Nicky has opened up a "Widow's House" on Garrett's family property, ensuring that the two are forced to spend a great deal of time together. In the midst of all this, a dead body is found in the Granger ranch, and Garrett and Nicky also find themselves caught in a not only a budding romance but also a mystery.

While I haven't enjoyed this series quiet as much as the McCord brothers series yet, this second instalment definitely keeps the series on the right track. Garrett and Nicky and convincing together and their well developed back stories also make them interesting apart.

As well, Delores Fossen's books have always done a good job in showcasing positive female friendships and I was glad to see that this book was no exception. The friendship between Nicky and Gina was one of the highlights by far. I also enjoyed the Gina's side perspective and the glimpses in to her growing relationship with Jake.

Finally, I enjoyed the crossover between this series and the previous McCord brother's series with the re-introduction of Cassie and Lucky. I've noticed in her previous series that this author does a good job of keeping her characters from previous books crossing in to current ones (including keeping Sophie and Clay active from Wrangler's Creek # 1), which helps keep me immersed in her worlds.

Overall, although I found some of the plot lines bordering on a bit too dramatic (Nicky's "final reveal" for example), I enjoyed the remainder of the book. Once again, Delores Fossen writes another great romance and I'll definitely be on the lookout for the third instalment featuring Roman.

NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY is Book 2 in A Wrangler’s Creek Cowboy series by Delores Fossen. I listened to the audio read by Eric Dove.

MY RATING GUIDE: Nearly a 1 Star, but I did finish. > 2 Stars. This simply wasn’t a book I enjoyed.
1= dnf/What was that?; 2= NOPE; NOT FOR ME; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I enjoyed it; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).

Garrett Granger, 34, runs his brother’s ranch outside San Antonio, TX, land which has been in his family for generations. One day while checking the land for planned upgrades he notices a group of women busy at work in the old ranch house which has remained empty on the land for decades. Upon approaching them, Garrett discovers one of the women is someone he knew intimately 17yrs ago. Nicky Henderson is now a lawyer, a widow and the mother of a small child. She claims she has permission to host her recovering widows group for the next year on the property he had planned to run cattle. Garrett figures it won’t be too difficult to shift the ladies elsewhere but Nicky has developed tenacity since he last saw her and refuses to leave.

Comments ~
1) I was sad to see I purchased this audio during a sale. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price. I was quite disappointed.
2) I believe NGOAC is aimed at a younger audience than myself. Although I finished it (on ff) I won’t be looking into any other titles by this author.
3) NGOAC is filled with (way) too much drama, angst, “juvenile” behavior and humor for my tastes. I hadn’t expected the widows group to act as they did either. I believe this was supposed to be funny or cute but I simply didn’t see it.
4) The voice artist was pretty good. The best part of the book, IMO.

READER CAUTIONS ~
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used quite frequently.
VIOLENCE - PG. Some discussion of past domestic abuse.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Several brief intimate scenes do occur.

No Getting Over a Cowboy is the second Book in the Wrangler's Creek series. I absolutely adore going back to Wrangler's Creek I fell in love with the place when I was read the McCord Brother Series by Delores Fossen as well. Delores Fossen was already a favorite author due to her suspense novels but once I got my hand on her new writing style in the HQN line I knew I HAD to have every book. I feel that this line brings out her better work. In No Getting Over a Cowboy we are visiting the Granger Ranch.

Garrett Granger has fastly became one of my favorite hero's. He is a broken man whom has no choice but to continue to face life and everything that it sees fit to through at him. First he lost his daughter, then his company was in a scandal, and during the scandal his wife is caught cheating. How much more can this poor man take? His one dream is to build the Granger Ranch to everything he knows it has the potential to be. Yet what is gonna happen next? He knows something is coming he just doesn't know what that is yet.

Nicky has lost her husband whom was cheating on her. She just needs time to to heal. Opening up a retreat for other women like her is the perfect solution to solve all her problems. So now she just needs to convince the one man who took her virginity to leave her alone and let her continue to open her Widows home on the property she leased from his mother and hope none of her past comes back to harm her or her daughter while in the process.

No Getting over a cowboy has many bumps and secrets to reveal as you read it. Will Garrett be able to expand the Ranch? Will Nicky get her dreams off the ground? What could possibly go wrong in Wrangler's Creek to stand in the way? You will absolutely love your journey to Wrangler's Creek I know I sure did.

No Getting Over a Cowboy by Delores Fossen is a hot read. I definitely recommend this book to be added to readers summer list. They're sexy cowboys, determined women, matchmaking moms, and danger. I was hooked. Intrigued. Old lovers meet again under different circumstances. Women leased an old house on the Wrangler Creek Ranch to use for widows. Garrett Wrangler hasn't been the same since he lost his daughter as a stillborn and the fact that his wife ran away. She cheated on him with a ranch hand. Then, there was her act blown up as a scandal everywhere. Business trouble for the Wrangler family. If that isn't enough then, there's the dead body found in the old house on the ranch. Plus, Garrett's old love interest is being targeted for money...

Lust, love, death, and risks are on every page. No Getting Over a Cowboy is correct. Nicky Marlow can't get over Garrett. In fact, he's still attracted to her as well. Excitement, adventure, and heat. I loved it. The Wrangler family members were funny. They brought humor to the story. Sweet, sexy, and well-done. This tale was a page turner. Delores Fossen surely know how to keep a reader addicted to her books. Overall, I highly recommend it to readers everywhere.

Boy, this got complicated really fast. The H and h had had a brief relationship in their teens which meant little to the H but essentially was a lifeline for the h's survival in her abusive, highly dysfunctional family. The H had married, lost a daughter and divorced his cheating ex. The h had gone to law school, married, adopted her cheating spouse's love child and buried him. This past brought them back to the H's ranch and his grandfather's house. The h was granted the house for a widow's retreat by the H's mother. Enter all of the angst and conflict from stage left.

Widow's arrive and sorry, but some of their spouses probably had to leave or die to find peace! The 3 sisters should be committed and needed intense therapy. Lady needed daily STD testing. There were a few normal ones included just to balance things out.

The H and h reconnected, he fell in love with her daughter and with his feelings. She faced her demons and he supported her through that challenge. He protected her at her weakest and she supported him through his reawakening.

Interesting story, great characters. Highly recommend.

No Getting Over a Cowboy is the second installment of the Wrangler’s Creek series. Garrett Granger is a very strong man that went through so much when the scandal was seen by so many people. Now he is back home and all he does is what he loves tend to the ranch. Garrett has no idea that his mother is up to her matchmaking but he has encased his heart so he won’t get hurt again. Now as for Nicky she has lost her husband and comes back to Wrangler’s Creek for one year and is now living on Granger land. I loved her daughter and how she was able to win over Garrett even though he tried not to cross paths with her since he had lost his child. But that is not the biggest issue it’s when his ex-wife reenters his life and is back on Granger land. She would like to recover her ex but he is now to far deep in love with Nicky but it's going to take time for him to admit it. Nicky’s past is going to come back into her life and if she is not careful she just might lose the most important person in her life. This was a wonderful read and I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.

As always, this author infuses her books with a great mix of humor, drama & romance. The characters are well developed and the story line keeps you interested. This book is Garrett Granger's story. We met Garrett in book 1 and learned that his wife was caught cheating on him on video. This story picks up with Garrett, now being divorced, and moving on with his plans to expand the ranch. He arrives to his grandfather's vacant house to do some of the expansion work, only to discover that his mother has leased the house to an ex-high school gf. Said gf, Nicky, is using the house as a retreat for widows. Sparks fly and the story gets interesting...skeleton found in closet...literally...widows that are hilarious-one w Turret's, who says inappropriate words, 3 sisters who want stallions to wear diapers so they can't see the 'P'!!! I was cracking up!!!
Throw in an adorable 3yr old, Garrett's ex-wife, a stalker and you will not want to put this down.
Glad that I gave this author a chance...now I search her out.

This is the first book I have read by Dolores Fossen, but it won't be the last! This is somewhat of a second chance love story, as Nicky & Garrett had hooked up briefly in high school. He broke her heart and ended up married to the next girl he dated. They lost a baby & then his now ex-wife cheated on him. Nicky had a very sad, abusive past, and also a cheating husband who has since passed away. This story takes place when Nicky comes back & rents an old house on Garrett's family property. The rental agreement was made by his mother and without his knowledge or approval. She sets it up as a home for widows to heal, but it attracts a cast of characters, including Garrett's ex-wife (who is allegedly healing from the loss of the baby.) There are some mysteries in the story and a few twists, and a sweet love story.

I absolutely loved this book after reading the first one in the series I couldn't wait to read this one and was not disappointed.
Garret Granger's life is a mess. He lost a child when his wife miscarried and if that wasn't enough she was then caught on video with another man. Plus the CFO of the family business turned out to be a crook causing him to have to move back home to Wranglers Creek Texas. When he thinks things can't get any worse his old girlfriend from high school Nicky Marlow is back in town and leasing his grandmother's old house.
If all that isn't enough to make you want to read this book then let me give you some more reasons.
There is a real skeleton in the closet.
There are lots of sexy cowboys.
A sweet little girl who steals the show.
A couple of horny widows.
Three sisters who were widows before they weren't anymore.
This book is like the other one in that it is full of laugh out loud moments and all the romance and mystery of who the skeleton is and everything that will keep you turning pages because you can't put it down.

I just felt ‘eh’ about this one. The reviews were so good so I thought I would like it more but there was just too much going on. For the most part this was a slow burn even though Garrett and Nicky dated for a very short time back in high school. We have a dead body mystery going on, a concept of a windows house being started (with some bizarre widows), Garrett’s ex trying to get him back, secrets from Nicky’s home life surfacing and mysterious flowers showing up constantly. It just felt like there was too much being thrown together, especially when I couldn’t really feel the connection or chemistry between Nicky and Garrett. If anything, their relationship seemed to stem from convenience more than anything.

This was my first book by Delores Fossen. I am so glad I picked this one up! I really enjoyed this second chance love story. Garrett and Nicky hooked up in high school, but he left her for the woman he eventually married. Now he is back at the family ranch trying to get over his cheating wife and the loss of their child. Nicky is setting up a home for widows, like herself, so they can heal and move on with their lives. When they run into each other the spark is still there. So much has happened and their are secrets between them. Once all is revealed, can true love really conquer all? Loved this story! Great read.

I really enjoyed the humor in this book that helped you through the difficulties that followed Nicky Marlow back to Wrangler’s Creek. Garrett Granger did not know know his mother had rented the old J. T. House to Nicky to use as a retreat for widows like herself, especially since he had expansion plans for the range that included the old abandoned house. Garrett had finally met his match with Nicky and her adorable little five year old daughter Kaylee but with all of her secrets, was it worth the fight? As the secrets began unfolding, one by one, Garrett felt like he had been punched in the stomach. This was an interesting book to read that kept your attention with every page turn.

Picked this up at a supermarket because I was a bit bored. I was a bit disappointed by the shallow character development and lack of real romance... if you're going to have bad characters you may as well add some spice to the mix. I couldn't wait to be done with it, and was relieved when it was finished! Oh well.

This was such an enjoyable story! Garret’s and Nicky’s story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. There were SO many secondary characters, but all were well fleshed out and delightfully unique! (Providing lots of smiles and chuckles to the reader!) Nicky’s daughter Kaylee was delightful. And Eric G Dove brought them all to wonderful life!

Leave your past behind

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were believable and a great storyline. I will now have to continue reading the Wrangler's Creek series to see what happens with all the characters I was introduced to.
