I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the sequel. I found it to be a page turner with characters that were sweet and relatable. It was suspenseful and had many teachable moments for young readers.
Emma vanishes. Four friends with cyber-techno skills seek to find her.
As in the book description, this book is filled full of suspense and intrigue. At times, I found myself glued to the pages. I loved how faith was interjected into the story without sounding "religious."
Even though this book is targeted for young adults, I found this story to be full of plenty of mystery, action, and suspense, has a little bit of faith and Romance. The plot is great, full of plenty of mystery and suspense. The characters were very real, and everything else about this book is great.
Emma is a 14 year old whose life is perfect, until she starts noticing creepy texts and phone calls being sent to her phone. Then it's suddenly too late. Leaving her friends and family to look for her after her sudden disappearance.
The writing seemed to bicker on and on about something that would be irrelevant to the plot; also liked to drag things on. I don't know if it was just me, getting no spaces between paragraphs? I believe the writing didn't do much to build up suspense, often fell flat. The ending and revelation was also...flat. If you like a teen book, give it a go, but if you are looking for a serious suspense book, look elsewhere.
My apologies for this review, it's my opinion, others may have different.
Michelle messaged me and asked me to review her book. She was informed a few times that this would be a completely honest review. I absolutely love supporting indie authors but unfortunately, this book is the first one in year that I just could not finish. I really wanted to like this novel, but I had to force myself to finish 25%. After hitting 25%, I even went back and read another 5% of the book because I wanted to be as fair as possible in this review. I kept hoping it got better, but I just didn't like it, which lead to a one-star review. I didn't like Emma Beware for a various reasons which are outlined in the full review.
**I do book reviews part time for my blog. The above section is my non-spoiler review.**
Emma Beware was a great opening to a two book plot. The only thing that was a little hard was that towards the end of each chapter, it changes point of views for a brief time and it’s sometimes hard to notice the transition. The book was suspenseful with a serious plot twist. I definitely recommend this book, and I know I will definitely be reading the second one. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.
The suspense will keep you reading and the characters are interesting. The reason I only have it four stars was because it struck me as a teen book, not adult reading. It held my interest, but the teenage setting was not my ideal reading genre.
