Ranch Creek and its Tributaries from the Divide to the Valleys

Rate this book
The snowy range on the Continental Divide of Colorado drains into Ranch Creek which feeds into the Fraser River which feeds into the Colorado River and then heads south and west to the Pacific Ocean. With maps, photos, and well-researched text, this little volume describes the settlers in this valley and a few of their experiences trying to tame this wild land.

Of most interest to people doing research and to anyone familiar with this area.

Lots of info about a very small slice of Colorado, with emphasis on the timber business. Hundreds of names are mentioned, some of which I recognized. Good reference for anyone interested in Grand County.

The story begins ...
Many of the people who came to Ranch Creek were hopeful of actually making a living there in some fashion. There were also those who hoped to make good money, often by way of speculation, including members of several familiar Colorado and Grand County families.
