The Dark Queens #7

The Centaur Queen

Rate this book
The race to save Kingdom is on and the unlikeliest of heroes have been tasked with discovering the key to salvaging all of fairy tales' happily ever afters...

Tymanon is a centauress without a home or friends. But that's just how this shy, intelligent creature likes it. Until a pair of capricious gods pairs her up with a satyr in the infamous "love games," that were anything but.

Petra wasn't her happily ever after. What nonsense to ever believe a centaur could be happy with a satyr, and yet when he looks at her with those mossy green eyes Ty feels things she's never felt before—wonder, joy, and maybe even something more.

But now isn't the time for romance, Tymanon suddenly finds herself on the isle of Gnósi governed by the three Fates. She has three challenges to beat before she can ask the question that will save all of Kingdom. But a terrible sacrifice will have to be made at the end. Love or honor, which choice will Tymanon choose? Only time will tell...

What a wild ride. The best part is everything continues in the dark king series.
You will love Ty, our brilliant heroine, in this book. The series was such a fun wonderful read and I cannot wait to continue on to next adventures.

Oh to live in Kingdom

Oh to live in Kingdom.......with each book I am able to disappear into Kingdom away from the sad reality of life. Jovee Winters has yet again shared a story that allows the reader to feel they are a part of this magical place, part of these people of Kingdom and its many realms. I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens to these Friends of mine. I highly recommend this book.

Intellectual, physical, and emotional battles dot the landscape as Ty and Petra race to save Kingdom and it’s cursed inhabitants.

Compared to previous Queens, Ty had a more clinical approach to emotions and life in general. As a Centaur, they value knowledge more than emotion and she was considered brilliant by many. She gave serious consideration to topics before she acted or spoke about it, and I loved her for being completely opposite of the usual high drama moments.

Petra was also fascinating. I thought he was one dimensional in The Fairy Queen, and when this book started I kind of thought the same way. And then I got to know more about him. He was more than just a Satyr; his feelings, reactions, and thinking process exposed so many interesting layers of his personality. Each time something new cropped up..well, it just made sense to have him and Ty paired together!

Ty and Petra’s chemistry was a quiet stretch that made their romance surprisingly spicier than other couples. I enjoyed the culmination of friendship and desire, and the build up was well worth the end result!

I love the world of Kingdom Marie Hall/Jovee Winters has created! Even when things go wrong, there’s always a kernel of hope laying about somewhere to perk things up and The Centaur Queen was no exception.

Never gets old

I have been reading this authors books for a few years now. Not once have I ever read a single book that wasn't exciting enticing fun and emotional. This book was no different. This story just made me want to read more and more. Thank you jovee winters you give me the means to escape all the pain I'm in for a while and it's truly a gift I can never repay. I would recommend these books to anyone they are fantastic.

So I have to give it to ya'll straight. This whole story line has really been blown all to the heavens. I was honestly really not even ready to get back into this after #6. I have never read a series where a bunch of stuff happens...then a time warp occurs and undoes everything.... then by the end of the next book we still really don't know definitively where we stand....

Despite allllll of that... Ty our centaur FMC was a really great character... one we haven't seen quite yet in the series. Her scholar like mind and strategy skills really made for an interesting character and read as her and her not quite mate Petra are kicked from the games during the time warp and summoned to save all of kingdom. The main story line of this is just effed and i really have no clue what is happening with that, but Ty and Petra's adventure was actually pretty good. I feel like more than most of the last couples we have read about they actually have some great chemistry together and their love seemed less forced which I can imagine is hard to do in so few pages. I honestly felt like i wish the author had made their story longer. The challenges they face would have been so much better if we had actually had time to experience them in more detail.

Like I said the main plot line is effed... but Ty and Petra's story turned out to be quite enjoyable in itself. I am tentatively reaching for the next in the series hoping my brain won't explode... I know I am playing with fire but I almost can't resist... Hades and Calypso still aren't back together I don't think... I can't stop till they are /cry or at least until I know!

Another great book in the Kingdom Series. Stories about centaurs don't normally catch my attention, but Jovee Winters(') adult fairytales never fail to please me. This one is no exception. There is even an interesting twist to the Kingdom rules of love that I appreciated. I'm always amazed at how Ms. Winters still finds ways to create new and different characters for the world of Kingdom, especially after 18.5 books in the series, but she does it again on book 19.5.

If you haven't read any of the previous books in this series yet, you should. Most of the books can be read as stand-alones, but are best enjoyed in order since the world of Kingdom grows in each tale and many characters make cameos in each others books. More importantly, the stories rely more on each other when you start the Dark Queen books and I wouldn't read this one without at least reading The Fairy Queen and Mad King first. So, if you've never read the series please start with book one, Her Mad Hatter, and work your way to this one. I promise you won't regret it.

Still not 100% sold on the recon of this series. But this book at least worked on tying up the loose ends left in this couples story when the author exploded the time line.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

This was a very special Queen. Different. Unique. Not so emotional but very very deep. And her travel companion was special too. His voice thing? Goosebumps! And how he is always reduced to the one thing Satyrn are known for? Heartbreaking! On first glance they have nothing in common. How can they even be compatible? And they are so different! But inside, they are not. Not in the ways that count. And while they are doing their best to save Kingdom, they are invariably drawn together. And I love how that happens. I enjoyed the riddles and the Minotaur and the Stone Dwarf but especially the Gorgon (she already has a big place in my heart, I want more of her!) and the end? I cried so hard! And now I can't wait for the next installment!

One of her best

I devour all of this author's books, but this one stands out. The devotion to the characters voice as well as new and different character types made this book exciting and fresh. I was sucked in by the departure from what seemed to be increasingly predictable archetypes. Within the added depth to the complexity of the world created, it was such an enjoyable experience to explore a new kind of heroine from the previous volumes. Well written and a treasure trove for fairy tail and mythology nerds, this series has a strong foundation in the familiar with imaginative twists.

These happily ever afters keep getting hotter

The Centauress and the Satyr, what a wildly weird couple. In the Goddesses games, they had no idea that they would come to mean so much to each other. Time passes and the games end but their world is turned upside down. Now to find out what happened to Kingdom and why, they have to go to the 3 fates. If you think the games were odd then the trials of the fates are really going to get you. This is a phenomenally written, wildly tall tale of all that happily ever after could be. A must read in the series. Can't wait for the next one.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

As usual, the author takes us through many ups and downs. Somehow she continues to find couples that seem add though they would be unlikely and make them fit. She also shows how sometimes you must go through pain to get a HEA. Through the story, Ty and Petra both have to challenge what they think they know while also facing the trials. As with the last book, she continues top dangle carrots that make you wish the next book was out NOW!! But until then, it's great to know what love causes, it can fix. 2.8.3.12

Ok, so I can admit that this book wasn’t the best but it was far from the worse. I enjoyed the slow burn of a spark to roaring fire that was the relationship in this story. This pairing I believe had to overcome so much more hurdles and preconceived notions of the other to get through. There was a beauty of the love and sacrifice made and though I didn’t quite understand the meaning behind the question or the answer given the ending was, however confusing as to the how, one of the more sweeter ones of the series. Now all I want to know is are they both stuck there for eternity?

So beautifully written!

This is one of the most unique books I've read in a long time. A lovely story filled with action, romance, and a hint of mystery. The characters are intriguing and realistic.
I was honestly not expecting to love this as much as I did. I was craving a centaur story so I did read this before reading the others but I definitely plan to go back and read the rest of the series now. I love the character dynamics, the interesting world they live in, the overarching mystery. Highly recommend if you're a fan of fantasy and romance!

Jovee has done it again! What a fantastic addition to the Dark Queens/Kingdom series. This magical world keeps on getting more magical...And if you think a Centaur & Satyr couple won't make you fall in love...well think again! Great sentence structure. Dual POVs were done well. Also flow was inciting and well-paced....Oh Petra, my oh my...I love my satyrs...Just gonna go back into the woodwork now...

Beautiful

This book like others in the series, takes me away to another world where I can escape reality of my own. It's a book I could not put down once I started. I am so excited to see the Kingdom players try to reset their world and reconnect epic lovers. I have no clue who is next but will try to be patient in waiting. I re-read this series often because of how much I've the characters. Thank you so much Jovee for once again making me believe!

For a girl who fancies herself a book nerd, Tymanon made my heart sing. This Dark Queen's story allowed me to think as well as enjoy because there were puzzles sprinkled throughout the book. I enjoyed reading of Tymanon and Petra as they seek to help right the undoing Harpy's sacrifice created. The author had me smiling and crying both tears of sadness and joy before the story finished. I cannot wait for the next one!

Fabulous

This is one of my favorite series. I really enjoyed this one although the beginning was a little confusing it quickly drew me in and the story flowed. Ending was great and so happy for the couple, who's next? I hope it is Royale and Lleweyn. Still a little curious how all the past Kingdom couples will fair. Can't wait for the next one.

Loved it.

Gave it 5 stars because is well written with a beautiful magical world built. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a bit of twist on fairy tales. Some scenes of the book are sweet, other parts tragic, but then there's the happily ever after. Read the series, they really are worth it just like this book, I'm anxiously waiting for the next one.

Hard read

I love Jovee Winters and I have followed the kingdom series from the very first book but this book I feel has too much exposition barely kept my attention. The characters are real as anyone you've ever known and the book is extremely colorful it will just take you longer to read this one than any other in the dark Queen's collection

As Always..

Jovee Winters completely surprises and thrills me. Ever since Kingdom was turned on it's ear things just haven't been the same. But as each book is released things slowly start righting themselves and clicking back into place. I just cannot wait to see what happens next. This has fast become one of my favourite series.

Well 3,5 Stars actually. I liked the story but at the very ending it was missing something about Petras travel. Ty was so thoughtful and clever, it was nice seeing how her and Petras feelings for each other grows through their journey.
