Christa Wojo has done it again.... when I thought her books couldn't get more 'sick' and graphic she has excelled herself. David and Susan are completely f***ed up, but are so right for each other!

I have thoroughly enjoyed (if that's the right word!) this series of books and look forward to reading more from Christa's dark mind. 😉

Sick Part III was a satisfying conclusion to the series. Although it's been awhile since I've read Sick II, within the first line I was back in the world of Susan and John Branch, and what a twisted world it was!

I loved this series; it was dark, raw, and above all, SICK. It's a peek behind closed doors and I read it in almost a voyeuristic fashion. This is not a novel that you wish to jump inside the character, walk in their shoes, and live vicariously as if it were a romance or popular fantasy novel. Nobody wants to be John or Susan Branch. As a matter of fact, as I was scrolling through Facebook I saw a status from a popular book blog that asked the question, "You are now the main character of the last book you read, who are you?", and I thought, noooo, I'm Susan Branch!

There were so many interesting elements to this story, but what I found the most intriguing was Susan's codependency and her mindset. It triggered so many emotions in me. It also made me wonder about human nature and how others influence our lives. She almost let others steer her life, like she didn't have any original thoughts because others polluted her mind with what they wanted her to believe. This switch was especially evident at the end. It was fascinating.

Author Christa Wojo created realistic characters who are flawed, yet sympathetic. Susan and John Branch are the kind of people who one minute you want to slap and the next you want to hug. Grab your tissues and download the series. I guarantee you have never read anything like it.

Overall, if you enjoy a good drama with a strong focus on mental illness and relationships, SICK is an original series with accurate depictions. I can't say too much, because I don't want to give away the specific illness. Oh, and the ending... is shocking!

Usually, when I read a series, I like to leave some space between books. But with this trilogy, I just HAD to read them one after the other. These stories were just too twisted, too messed-up, and I wanted to know how it was going to end.

John and Susan have a toxic marriage full of sickness, hospitals and lies. But now that the secrets are out in the open, Susan realises she's played her own pathetic role in John's sick game. She might know the truth now, but it won't matter when others make up their own minds...

Yikes! OMFG. 🤢

This book was as addictive as the previous two, but it was also longer. The others were novellas, but this was a novel featuring the POVs of both Susan and John.

I really liked how unpredictable it turned out to be. So much of what happened was unexpected, and it kept me guessing until that very wicked ending. I honestly thought everything would turn out differently, but of course there was no other way for this couple to end up.

To call this trilogy disturbing is an understatement. It pushes the boundaries on so many levels. Made me angry so many times because I did NOT like John in any book. He really has no redeeming qualities. None at all. Just when you think he might do the right thing, he proves how childish, arrogant and selfish he is. He's despicable.

I quite liked Susan because although she's a different kind of loser to John, she really tries to do the right thing. She just can't be trusted to make the right choices, not even for herself. And especially not with the very shitty decision she makes at the end. 😕

These stories are seriously awesome. This trilogy was well written, the uncomfortable subject matter is captivating, and the portrayal of these awful characters was great. Because no matter how annoyed or frustrated I got while reading these, I enjoyed the hell out of them!

I highly recommend this trilogy. Unless you're squeamish, of course.

“Another great book in the SICK series! Highly recommended, just like parts one and two! I’m really looking forward to Christa Wojchieowski's first full length novel The Sculptor of New Hope!”-Books and Pens on Green Gables (BPonGreen.com)

John’s medical issues continue in Sick part 3 and Susan knows John needs more help than she could ever give to him. Since he’s admitted everything to her now, it is her responsibility to get him help, right? Then she realizes her part in what has happened could get her into trouble, too. A horrible home invasion and being beaten by intruders seems to be the answer to their problems. When EMT’s take them to the hospital, an unexpected diagnosis shocks John and Susan and life becomes much more serious. John and Susan have a lot happening with John's new diagnosis, though he doesn’t believe it is real. They don’t have time for the constant interruptions from the police asking questions over and over. They just want to live their life, in the way that they do. Then, when Macy enters into their world, everything gets turned upside down. Can anyone help John and Susan? Can they save each other or is it too late for them? And, how will John react when a person from his past walks into the room?

I was given this book to read and review. Thank you!

This book focuses on Susan's point of view now she knows John's state of mental health better. We learn how she processes this information. There is not much I can say because this book is one huge spoiler. Most of the book, the couple spends separated.

Learning what John endured was difficult. But it was more arduous when she discovers, through therapy, she was as complicit in enabling him, and codependent on John, as was Pete and his mother. But, she learns in therapy she was a victim.

As a doting wife, she provided him Demerol. Like the mother, there were times she found him to be more a chore than a spouse. She spends a long time learning who she is an individual. For the entirety of her life, she had been a people pleaser.

She now focuses on who she is without John. Want and who does she want in her life? How does she want to deal with John's overwhelming desire for self harm? How will that fit in their marriage? Or will she dissolve their union?

The ending was unexpected. It left me breathless.

I plead the author continues this couple's saga.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After reading this series, I am convinced that the author named it perfectly. This trilogy was indeed sick but yet it was so fascinating that I quickly jumped from book to book until I had read every gruesome detail.
In this book, I read from both Susan's & John's perspectives and what a ride that was. One thing that has remained constant is how selfish and arrogant John is. As a main character, he is not likable at all. However, Susan, even though she made some stupid decisions, was actually kind of sweet.
I enjoyed this series way more that I probably should have and would definitely be reading more by this author.
Let me reiterate that this series is suitable for adults only and even then it should be noted that if you want to read this, you have to be able to stomach some pretty disgusting stuff.

As before, these characters are over-the-top and unlikable, but it’s hard to look away from their shared perversities and bizarre problems. John is so self-centered that he even believes that Susan is kept in jail because her being away is what he deserves for being so manipulative. Absolutely everything is about him in his eyes. But it’s interesting to see how at least part of how bad he’d gotten was due to her enabling as well, when we inevitably have a moment of seeing them together again. They’re both profoundly messed-up people, and well, maybe they do deserve each other in some strange way.

Content note for sex, detailed deterioration due to cancer, and violence.

"Sick Part 3" is the sickest of the series.... bwah ha ha ha!

C'mon, someone here had to type that. And, truthfully enough, it's true. Not in the disgusting, gross body function way that the first two in the the series were. No, this third and final sequence that finishes the story is truly disturbing as a psychological mind fuck.

And, what was even more gratifying for me....I couldn't predict where the author was taking the story. Without revealing anything in the end, the story moved back and forth from Sarah to John and back again until I wasn't sure how this truly twisted story could end.

Kudos to the author! This was a fun ride.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Good easy read...really, there are people like this?!

I picked this rating because author is an acquaintance; sweet smile, angelic face. What a mind there is behind that smile & face. I love to learn new words coming from her writing. The characters actually could be real the way she reveals them layer by layer.

Dark! Wow, this final book in the trilogy gets very dark and graphic! Not for the squeamish! The plot twist at the end, didn’t see that coming! Without spoilers I’ll just say read all 3 in the series and question your own views on what makes for a healthy relationship. Obviously really well researched, be prepared for a trip to the dark side! Recommended, if you can handle it!
