Rate this book
When she gets a second chance with the man she lost, she never thought she'd get him--and his husband too. Senior editor at a publishing house, Heather, is overwhelmed at work and cannot wait to meet her new junior editor. When Blake waltzes into her office, she can't believe that the only man she's ever loved has walked back into her life. Even the ring on his finger won't stop all those old buried feelings from flowing to the surface. When Heather is in a tragic accident, Evan, the paramedic who saves her, is immediately drawn to the beautiful and strong woman. He knows exactly why his husband, Blake, has loved her for all of these years. As Evan and Blake nurse her back to health, both men fall deeply for Heather. With their relationship intensifying, they must find a way to fulfill all of their future dreams. Can these longing hearts turn their relationship into a "happily ever after?' In this 50,000-word novel, Longing Hearts, two men learn that one woman holds the key to complement their love. With explicit and hot scenes, these three forage a sexual path that takes you into a world of pleasure and desire.

Really good

Another sweet entry in the Healing Hearts series. I loved this story of a second chance at HEA...with a twist. Heather, Blake and Evan were so good together. Such an honest and loving relationship. I appreciate that both books in this series were good old fashioned love stories with no betrayal or unnecessary drama. I think we all have that first love that you wonder "what if" about. This is an excellent example of true love (x2).

BEAUTIFUL

Just a beautiful story of loving and being loved. Heather, Blake and Evan just meshed. Brought on by the love Blake had for Heather since they were 15. Love has no boundaries!

Another five stars for Maxene Novak no surprises there. Her writing is fresh and draws you in from the first sentence. The characters Heather, Blake and Evan are fresh and exciting. It is also great to hear from characters from a previous book Lorie, Clay and Spencer. This book will leave you smiling. Heather thinks she will never find love for herself when the love of her life walks into her life after seventeen years. There are changes they have to get used to but they never stopped loving each other. As usual this author writes so well you find the book hard to put down once you open the first page. When you close the last page you will do so with a huge grin. It is great to get to know the characters so you feel like part of the family. I can't recommend this book strongly enough because once you read written by Maxene Novak you will want to read more!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book and I'm so glad I did it's amazing!

I liked Heather, Blake, and Evan. I think that they were interesting characters. I think that it is different from the usual take on the menage a trois. Blake and Evan are married yet they fall in love with Heather. Heather and Blake have teenage history with each other. It has everything included to create a great escape from reality.
I voluntarily received a copy of this arc and this is my honest review.

I found this author through Instafreebie, and I was interested in her MMF romances. I haven't read her freebie yet, but this new release has been teased and advertised. Because of it's sale price, I thought I'd give it a chance.

This isn't a horrible book. It's just not a great or even good book. She irritated me right off by having scenes labeled with the point of view character even though the whole story is told from 3rd person. This is not necessary at all. Nothing in her writing makes it unclear whose POV we have, and that's only necessary (if even that) for a story told in 1st person. Really, if the voice of your characters is strong enough, you don't need to "announce" who is talking. The smart reader will know.

There are other things that are bad about this story from a technical point of view. She mistakenly calls Evan "Blake" on two separate occasions, and while some writers love commas too much, she could do with more of them. These nitpicks that I recognize as nitpicks aren't complete deal breakers. I was just in beta reader mind when reading.

They are all obviously good-looking, but I don't know what Heather actually looks like other than she's got a great pair of breasts. Hair color? Height? Unknown.

Also, the writing for the sex scenes was minimal, which is fine if you want something fade to black. What she does describe is... odd. So what is Heather's "sex"? It seems to have moved around from the first sex scene to the second one. Also, there was absolutely no lube or preparation for the anal sex. Instead of hot and romantic, it almost read as inept.

The thing that loses me with this story is there is relatively little conflict. I'm not saying that it has to be a complete drama and angst-fest. But it's the literary equivalent of a twinkie because things happen so easily for these characters. They love each other so much! They keep saying/thinking that over and over again. I don't see it in action, but I'm sure told it often enough that it hits me like a baseball bat. Everything else about the story, including the "surprise" ending is so predictable for romance that my inner cynic complains, "Ugh! Not this again."

Now I am not funny enough or have gifs enough to make this a popular review because of my wonderful way with bile. I will say that the story wasn't one *for me.* I also know that there are some readers out there who want exactly what this story is: a very simple read with a HEA that you can use to escape the world for a little while. Only you know for yourself where you stand on that.

Must read

Loved this book as much as the first one in the series. Love how Even and Heather have an instant connection with each other making it easier on Blake.
