Delia Burroughs is a young woman with plenty of heart and the strength of spirit to help her family survive in the West. But one by one they’ve left until it’s just Delia and her father. The Pony Express is about to begin their relays
between cities to deliver Express mail.
The setting is in Three Rivers, Wyoming in the
spring of 1860. This is a small town where
everyone takes care of each other.
There are a few who are afraid the Pony Express
will negatively effect their current business. They
are determined to close up the swing stations along
the scheduled way the rider's relay stops.
One of those stations is manned by the Burroughs
family. This consists of Delia and her father since
her mother died and her brothers have moved on
to other places. Delia is grabbed one night and
told she must talk her father into leaving their
swing station or else.....What will happen to Delia?
Will they leave?
The last Three Rivers relay rider hired is Ransom
McCain. He is a man on his own since the death
of his Aunt Kate. He was chosen to take the first
ride. What adventures and danger await him??
When Delia and Ransom meet there is an instant
spark of undeniable chemistry between them.
Will this spark lead to a deeper meaningful
relationship?
This is a well written, well described historical
fiction western story. You will feel as you are
right in the town, at the the stables and at the
swing station. You will feel the dirt in the air,
smell the hay and the horses as if you were
right in Three Rivers with the colorful and well
defined characters.
A very enjoyable read!!!
I volunteered to read this book. Thanks to the
the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.

I love historical's. Reina Torres writes amazing ones.
Always, Ransom was so touching and emotional that I immediately
just loved the characters. The town of Three Rivers was small, and everyone
watched out for the other.

When Ransom first met Delia he was taken by her. The strength., courage and
beauty. She and her father were one of the stations, which was part of the Pony Express.
They had some problems along the way.

Delia was strong but something about Ransom she liked a lot. She would do her part.
She did it well. But something happened. The last thing she would do is back down.
Soon her heart was overwhelmed.

Must read. See what happens..

Highly recommend not only this book but Her Gentle Heart.
A historical by Ms. Torres which is wonderful.

Sweet, Sensitive Western. This Author takes us on a short trip into the past with her incredible novel. Everything you need in a good Historical Western. Handsome moody men and delicate yet strong females. I enjoyed the "history lesson" on the changing of times and how it affected those involved. This Sweet Romance has all the elements needed to make any romantic at heart happy. I enjoyed the detail embraced in this novel. I recommend this to any Western Romance lover. Well done!🌺

I loved this sentimental story and that their similar losses brought them a deeper connection to each other! I hope that the remaining books bring resolution to the problems plaguing the Pony Express run..

Back in 1860, with the wind at their backs and hoofs thundering underneath them, brave men signed on be part of a new adventure - transporting mail across the quickly on horseback. This warm, wonderful story takes place at the start of the Pony Express and introduces us to the town of Three Rivers, Wyoming. Ransom McCain is there is begin anew as an Express rider and become the kind of man his late aunt would be proud of. Delia Burroughs is helping her father with all the chores and duties that manning an Express waystation involves. As Ransom and Delia learn their new roles with the Express, they also must navigate their developing feelings for one another. But there is nothing “simple” about this “simpler” time - in reality there is a lot of complexity, with the West just being settled. And for these two, difficult family dynamics and forces working to have the Express fail also add additional dangers to their lives.

There is a gentle, beautiful vibe to this story. Sure, there are plenty of suspenseful moments, but Ms. Torres transports you through the magic of her words to the sun-kissed plains of the West where a whole new United States was being discovered and formed. Although short in page length, the story is a fulfilling read with well-developed characters and a well-drawn plot that lays the foundation for future stories in the series. I loved the glimpse we get into Ransom’s heart and soul through the “letters” he writes in his journal to his late Aunt Kate. The sweetness conveyed in those writings was an unexpected emotional side not only to the character, but to the story as well! I cannot wait for the next book in the Three Rivers Express series!

OH!MY! GOODNESS! This is my first book by Ms. Torres. It won't be my last!

I love stores about the Pony Express. Hard to resist handsome riders whose courage is unmatched.

Ransom McCain grieves the loss of his dear aunt. He's hired as a Express rider for Three Rivers station. He's a man of integrity.

Delia Burrough, also acquainted with grief in the loss of her mother. She and her father reside in one of the stations on the route West. She is determined to thrive in the West.

The sense of adventure is so captivating. This is a quick, sweet romance. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy adventurous tales of the Pony Express.

I borrowed a copy from Kindle Unlimited. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

A sweet, gentle, kind, caring, soft spoken sexy cowboy with a heart of gold.......I'm in love!! I want my own Ransom McCain!

I love Reina's contemporary romances, but going back in time with this historical western romance is the icing on the cake. I loved the insight into the Pony Express and it's beginnings that this story provided.

It's not just history in this story, but there are family dynamics, budding friendships, controversy, personal demons, and a true snake in the grass! Trust me you will not be disappointed!!

Three Rivers Express series

I enjoyed reading this story especially finding out about the pony express when they began the relays to deliver the mail by express and the trouble they endured to get started. Ransom is one of the riders and he is the hero of this story along with the heroine Delia who lives at one of the stations along the way. I won't spoil the plot and just let you guys read for yourselves. All in all a really good read and a learning curb for myself not knowing anything about the pony express history.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is a sweet, Western romance that makes you feel good. I couldn't wait to get back to it every time I had to put it down. Ransom and Delia are wonderful characters. They have challenges to face and do so with such grace and kindness. I have a new favourite place I want to "visit" - Three Rivers. I look forward to the rest of this series. Make sure you check out the rest of Reina's books - she writes so well. Enjoy!

Another wonderful Pony Express worker story. This is Ransom McCain and Delia Burroughs story. Ransom meets Delia when they visit the Hawkins family, who runs the Pony Express. Since Ransom and the other express riders live on the property they meet at dinner. All the characters within these Pony Express books are well written characters with incredible stories! This book would be fine as a standalone as well.

Always, Ransom

Sweet story. Left a lot up in the air at the ending. Felt like part of the story was not completed. Need to recognize that this is the beginning to a series. Lots of characters to keep track of. Lacks something, but not sure what. Not particularly interested in reading the next

This is another amazing book by the very talented Reina Torres.

This is book one and it starts with the Spring of 1860.
The Spring of 1860 is when the Pony Express began their service of mail delivery between St. Joseph, Missouri and Sacramento, California

The Pony Express took these men and rode them hard and far across the West. Thankfully that adventuring spirit did belong to strong, determined men who were full of life. These men were ready for whatever they met on the trail. Well that's what they thought by everything, except for love.

Meet the hansom Ransom McCain. Ransom was the last man that was hired to ride for the Three Rivers stations. Ransom knew that he was chosen to take the first ride up west because Ransom could think on his feet and act fast. The tensions were high because there are certain people who are so determined to make the express fail. Little does Ransom know this and that he would fall for a beautiful woman who gets caught in the crossfire.

The beautiful Delia Burroughs. Delia is a young woman who has plenty of heart and also the strength of a strong spirit to help her family survive out in the West. One by one they’ve all gone and left until it’s just Delia and her father. Her father's grief and struggles may make it totally impossible for Delia to leave home and make a family of her own. When Delia met Ransom, she instantly knew that she’d found the one true man that she could love forever. Much to Delia's dismay these forces are determined to now take her new home. What's more these forces are also taking her along with her dreams and perhaps her chance at real love.

Ransom and Delia will now have to decide if what’s now happening between them; is something that both Delia and Ransom want to fight for it. Or will Ransom and Delia let themselves be torn apart by the dangers in which they’re both facing.

Reina Torres gets better and better with each book. I love this historical romance. 5* book well done Reina.

Always, Ransom is a heartfelt, sweet, well written romantic story about the beginning of The Pony Express in the Spring of 1860. Ransom gets a position as a rider. Delia's father runs a swing station for The Pony Express of Three Rivers Station. I loved the interactions between Ransom and Delia. The characters were well developed and realistic. There was plenty of suspense and action. I really enjoyed this book from start to finish and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I usually read romance stories that tend to be on the sexier and steamier side but every once in a while I like to take a break from all the sex to read something sweet and Always, Ransom really fit that bill. This historical western romance was everything sweet and nice. Delia and Ransom’s love story was so cute and pure. I loved how innocent it was way back in the olden days. Just a touch of the hand could mean so much and a smile could convey love. Ah, such a wonderful kind of love. I also really enjoyed some heart racing moments in the story because even in this sweet romance there's a villain and some nefarious things going on. But nothing too seriously bad. Overall, this was a very enjoyable story and a great beginning to a new series that I would love to read more about in the future.

Ransom McCain is a man determined to see that the Three Rivers station thrives when it comes to The Express, but there are those in the community willing to do whatever it takes to make certain The Express doesn't succeed. Doing his duty makes it hard to find love, but somehow Delia Burroughs worms her way into his heart, burrowing deep enough until there's no way he'll possibly be able to let her go. However, someone is determined to have Delia running scared and keep Ransom distracted because of the arising problems along the trail. Will The Express be disbanded before it even gets up and running enough to be a success, or will Ransom find a way to keep Delia safe and find the person responsible for causing the trouble along the trail?

I am not a big reader of Historical Romance, but Ms. Torres always pens a wonderful read in whatever she writes, so there was no way I was passing up the opportunity to read this story, and I've got to say that this book is quite captivating. As it gives readers a superlative introduction into what The Express is all about if they don't have the slightest idea what it entailed; reveals the troubles men may have faced because others were threatened by how good The Express would be if those that made it happen did succeed; and the oaths the men had to take to be a part of something so grand, so they stayed focused on what they had to do. However, it also gives a reader the hope that love can blossom when a couple least expect it.

Both the main characters have interesting back stories, and I loved every moment they conversed, as there is so much chemistry between them from the moment they meet. It's magnetic and charming, even though neither are certain a relationship is a good idea when there's a lot going on in their lives. Delia is doing her best to take care of her father and help him get his life back on track, which isn't easy with the man determined to drown his sorrows away. Yet, it seems the more time she spends with Ransom, the more the hero begins to help her dad too, especially once they face the hurdle of Ransom wanting to be the man that wins Delia's heart. Will Ransom get his chance at pursuing Delia with her father's blessing?

As for the heroine, Delia is strong and brave with everything she goes through and I liked that she didn't give up on her father, even though his treatment of her at times wasn't what you'd expect of a father towards his daughter. He could be a tad rude and take her for granted, and I wouldn't have blamed her if she'd decided to give up on the man. Although there was no way she would, since she was so loyal and kind; the sort of person determined to help anyone that needed it, which is proven for what she does for a young boy that seems to be acting out against his parents and showing them disrespect.

While Ransom, his life hasn't been easy, but he's turned out to be a really good man. He's loyal, kind, caring, determined to be good as his job and I liked that when he finally decided he wanted a shot at a future with Delia that he went for it. But what I liked most about the two of them as a couple, is that it seemed the heroine was willing to go against her father, if he didn't give Ransom his blessing to pursue Delia. Because what is a life without love; the kind of love that lasts forever and that is definitely something both the hero and heroine deserve. Does her father make the right choice?

Overall, this book was a sweet and gratifying start to what is sure to have readers wanting to come back to read more of this series, as the secondary characters in the other heroes that ride for The Express are just as entertaining and interesting as Ransom. The way this story ended had me concerned for the heroine, because of what she discovers. Will Ransom be able to keep her safe? What will happen to the person causing trouble so The Express would hopefully fail? However, it was how things ended up between Ransom and Delia that had me smiling. They are so meant for each other. Moreover, I liked the words Ransom penned to someone that was very important in his life, as it shows he's finally happy again. I would recommend Always, Ransom by Reina Torres, if you're looking for a sweet, historical romance or if you enjoy books by authors Nan O'Berry, Debra Holland or Cynthia Woolf.

This is a book based back at the beginning of the Pony Express. They are just setting it up, doing trial runs and figuring out schedules. The time is filled with simplicity, but also with the harsh realities of existing in the wilderness and dealing with the isolation.
The two main characters, Ransom and Delia, have both been affected deeply by the loss of loved ones and share that bond. It helps cement the attraction between them. He is a rider for the Express, and Delia helps run one of the outlying stations with her father.
I loved that Ransom was so honorable and protective of Delia. I loved Delia for her strength in character in staying alongside her grieving father (who was wont to drown his sorrow in the depths of a bottle when he should have been working), but also struggling to find a way to have a relationship with Ransom. The women back then had to be tough, and Delia certainly was. She stood up to danger and fought to right the wrong that was being done to the Express.
I loved this book! It kept my undivided attention and had me eager to read on. It's a sweet romance, which is so refreshing these days. I can't wait for the next one!
I was given an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Always, Ransom is set in 1860, Wyoming. It’s a strong start to what I believe will be an interesting series centered around the start of Pony Express mail delivery. Always, Ransom is a sweet romance with a bit of suspense mixed in with a villain. This is a nice read that was sweet and pure and I truly enjoyed it. Ransom stole my heart from page one. Delia is such a strong, young woman, faced with dealing with a grieving and difficult father while trying to keep their home and job at one of the stations. Ransom and Delia have a believable connection. I like the author writing style and her books never leave me disappointed. A very refreshing read-just what I was looking for

I am really picky about my historicals, and Ms. Torres aced it with this sweet romance about Delia and Ransom! Set in the spring of 1860, amid Pony Express station excitement, the only fast way of getting mail cross country at the time; a rough-tough life filled with grim realities of the lifestyle & the times in 1860, and a HEA if they survive it! Great characters & descriptions make you think you're there! Couldn't put it down! Sensational!!!

I voluntary review this ARC copy of this book. I found this book to be a sweet Western Romance with a hint of a Hallmark movie fell. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline that this story provided set in the 1860 Wyoming. I look forward to learning more about Three Rivers Station in the next book. This is the first book in this series “Three Rivers Express” by both Reina Torres and Nan O'Berry.

Delia Burroughs has not had an easy life of late and is fighting to do her best to help her father run a Swing station for the Pony Express of Three Rivers Station. He father has turned to drink since her mother as past and her four older brothers have all left to find their way in life on their own, so that leaves Delia to take care of her father on her own.
Ransom is seeking a new life for himself in the west so he takes a position as a rider for the Pony Express as he was happy he would get to ride Morgan ponies. Ransom is given the privilege of being the first rider as he thinks quickly, not everyone is happy to have the Pony Express in town as Ransom soon finds out.
When Delia meets Ransom she knew he was a man with manners and his gestures made her near breathless and she knew her heart was in trouble. Ransom was attracted to Delia but he thought she deserved a much better man than he was. As the Pony Express riders did their best to make the enterprise work there are some strange things happening. Can Delia help her father to keep their swing station going and will Ransom realise that the woman that he cares for might be in danger?

A charming Western Romance set at the start of the Pony Express. I hadn't read a Western Romance before and this was a pleasant surprise. Ranson, a newly hired rider for the Pony Express, falls fast for sweet Delia, a hard working young woman who has seen her share of sorrow but works to make a life for herself and her Dad with a Pony Express Station. But not everyone wants the Pony Express to succeed and Delia finsd herslf in the middle of the trouble.
It was interesting to read about this time in American History and how love can triumph even in the face of personal hardships.
I received an Advanced Reader's copy in exchange for an honest review. Reina Torres will not disappoint you with this heartwarming Western romance.

DO YOUR JOB AND COME BACK SAFE

I enjoyed this first book in the Three Rivers Express series that covers a small town and some of the swing stations that are used for the Pony Express and takes place in 1860. The story is a romantic suspense mystery with some trouble that will take place along the way as not everyone is happy with the Pony Express.

For Delia and her father Frank Burroughs, they will operate one of the swing stations where riders from Three Rivers will stop and exchange one of the Morgan horses between town and the next station. Trouble will plague the Burroughs and other stations down the line.

Ransom McCain is one of the many riders for the Pony Express. As was very common among riders, he is orphaned and on his own. The job comes with plenty of danger, but something he is excited to do. Meeting Delia Burroughs is an added bonus. “I’m not looking to break a record for speed if all I did was deliver the mail from one point to the other and can keep my horse under me and the sky above my head, that’s all I can really ask for.”

The plot will have the beginning of the Pony Express, along with the Three Rivers Station that is run by the Hawkins family and will house many of the riders at the first leg of the journey. While the story does not cover the details of the various runs along the journey, it will introduce several of the riders. Most of the riders all work well together, which includes chores that must be accomplished at the Hawkins station when they are not on one of their rides delivering the mail pouches. Trouble comes in the form of stations being shot at, fires being set, horses injured and turned loose, and even threats made against Delia and her father at their station.

The story is the beginning of a romance for Delia and Ransom, two people that both understand loss. Delia is still mourning the loss of her mother, her brothers moving away, and her father’s drinking causes her heartache. Ransom lost his parents when he was young and was raised by an aunt and uncle, but the passing of his aunt still is painful.

This is a sweet, clean historical based story of new beginnings. “I was meant to come here to Three Rivers,” he turned slightly, facing her so she could see everything in his eyes and still feel the warmth of their hands against the other. “I was meant to take this job so that I could meet you. And I will do what it takes to be worthy of you.” He drew in a long breath. “That is, if you would consent to me, courting you, Miss Burroughs.”

Disclosure: I received an e-copy of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.

Always, Ransom is a standalone that is going to be part of a larger series. Although this completely stands alone, there are a few loose background threads that will tie this book into the “Three Rivers Express” series. Should you decide to only read this novel, these “loose threads” will not affect your enjoyment of this book as a standalone at all. This is an incredibly sweet romance with some intrigue. There is very minimal cursing (one h_ll and one d_mn) and no sex.

Full disclosure: I don't read western romances. This just isn't my usual chosen genre...except that now it apparently is because this is the second story set in this basic time period by Reina Torres that I have read and she has converted me. I finished this book and immediately wanted to read the next in the series, I enjoyed living in that world with these characters that much.

Ms. Torres has written the kind of story that will reel you in from the start. I read this over the Easter weekend and it was so frustrating to have to put the book down to do “real life” chores when all I wanted to do was sit and find out what was happening and how things would end up for Ransom and Delia and their friends. In this day of the romance genre being inundated with poorly-written erotica books that rely on the “having-tons-of-dirty-sex-is-love” trope, and bully male characters being labeled “alphas” to excuse their poor behavior, it was INCREDIBLY refreshing to read a book with a male character who actually *respects* the woman he loves. Their attraction was palpable, even without sex (or kissing) because Ms. Torres beautifully illustrated their blossoming relationship. I was happily surprised when my pulse started to pound in a scene where the two main characters discuss courting. Courting. There was no kiss, there were no blindfolds or handcuffs, there was just a man pouring his heart out to the woman he wanted to be with and her reciprocating. It was gorgeous and perfect and made me love these two (especially Ransom) even more.

Delia was a fantastic frontier woman. She dealt with and handled everything thrown at her with a grace and strength that showed that she didn't need a man to make her life complete, and that made her relationship with Ransom even more special. She didn't NEED him in her life, but she wanted him there. And he never tried to control her, he just stood beside her and helped without being overbearing because she was a self-rescuing princess.

I loved this novel, and I cannot wait for the next books in this series.

If you like a well-written romance with a dash of intrigue, the kind of book that will make you want to read the whole book in one sitting and/or one that doesn't rely on copious gratuitous sex to show love and attraction between characters you should definitely read this book.
