Harmful Rush

Rate this book
Harmful Rush is a stand-alone, full-length novel set in the Remedy world. You do not have to read the first two books to read this book.

Skylark Samuels has a secret.

She's not a normal teenager, although she plays one in real life. Pretending to be something you're not isn't easy, especially in high school where gossip is gold. For years, Sky manages to hide her uniqueness, until one fateful day when she exposes her gift, her curse, and all her fears come to pass. Now instead of going to college near home like she planned, she has to leave town and go someplace where the rumors can't follow. The plan when she gets there: keep to herself and stay under the radar.

But blending into the background is impossible when local heartthrob Dylan Parks notices her. Even though Sky keeps her distance and doesn't act like one of Dylan's adoring fans, he goes out of his way to talk to her. Her. The girl who wants to be invisible.

Sky isn't immune to Dylan's charm, but getting close to him is a bad idea. It goes against the promise she made to herself. Besides, if Dylan knew the truth, he wouldn't want her. If he discovered her secret, he'd treat her differently and possibly fear her. It's happened before. But the more Sky gets to know Dylan, the harder it is to resist him, until fate intervenes.

A tragic event forces Sky to reveal herself to the one person she's come to care for, and his reaction is unexpected. For the first time, she doesn't feel so alone. But what she doesn't realize is that she's never been alone. When she finally lets her guard down, someone comes along who threatens to unravel everything, because being normal was never Sky's destiny.

Debra Doxer has become an author I can count on to deliver something different in the YA genre, something that sadly can't be said too much lately in this genre as it has become saturated with the same old same old.

Her series Remedy series is the series that started that love for me and when I saw that she was publishing a third book in the series, that also acts as a stand alone, I was all over it.

It was so much fun getting back into this world. And while this story does stand all on it's own with new characters, new adventures and new loves, it was so nice to see some old familiar faces too and to get that glimpse into what was happening in there lives after the ending of To Have and To Harm.

I really enjoyed this story! It had just enough of a little of everything to keep it interesting. A dash of mystery, a hint of the paranormal and of course enough romance to keep your heart pumping and you turning the pages. It truly was a great addiction to the series and one that I am so happy we got. This series has been so much fun and I would love to see even more from it in the future.

4.5 "Always My Skylark" Stars.

description

It's been a really long time since I read a YA Paranormal Romance. I used to love them and Debra Doxer reminded me why. I devoured Harmful Rush! The author gave me everything from swoon worthy actions to a hint of paranormal and mystery that had me completely under her spell.

That being said, Harmful Rush is a story about a girl, Skylark Samuels, who is not your normal teenager. She has a secret. One that it could be considered a gift, or a curse. She and her dad are the only ones aware of her uniqueness. That's until one disastrous day she has to use her ability to save a loved one. Things backfired and she's forced to leave her town and go someplace where no one knows her. A fresh start. The plan is to stay under the radar and try to live a normal life. But what happen when Dylan Parks, the popular guy, is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. There's no way to hide from him, but after her last experience, Skylar knows that getting close to him is a bad idea. It doesn't matter that he makes her heart soar.

description

Skylark knows relationships aren't for her. But the need to succumb to the intense connection between them is hard to resist. Dylan offers her what she never thought she could have. But eventually, secrets come out.

Will be Dylan worth the risk? Or will he fear her just like the others?

Harmful Rush was a breath of fresh air. It consumed me from start to finish. It was entertaining, fast paced, filled with mystery and the enough amount of romance to keep my heart dancing with happiness.

"The world is full of things that are beyond comprehension, like me. But before you judge me or fear me, remember the last time you wished for a miracle, and realize that deep down, some part of you already believes."

Compelling. Romantic. Mysterious. Highly recommended for the YA Paranormal lovers.

**This story is set in the Remedy world but you don't have to read the first two books. But after reading this one, I'm sure as hell that I will be reading them.**

I can confirm that you don't need to have read the previous two books in this series to thoroughly enjoy this one - I hadn't read them and loved this college paranormal romantic suspense!

Skylark Samuels has a secret that only her and her adoptive father know. He's warned her of the consequences of others discovering it since she was a young child but circumstances cause her to use her gift to save her best friend. Unfortunately, that best friend doesn't keep the secret, sharing it widely and making life sometimes uncomfortable and at others life threatening for both Sky and her father. This results in Sky choosing to leave her home town to enable her to disappear into a different town, attending college there and striving to live as near normal a life as she can.

Her intention was to blend into the background but Dylan Parks notices her and he's a well respected, extremely popular guy who everyone notices and their attraction is mutual. By association, everyone notices his attraction to Sky, so being invisible just isn't an option . . . . and someone else has noticed her, too, but they know her secret.

This is an enthralling story with a mix of paranormal abilities, college life, mystery, blackmail, teenage angst and so much more - as well as romance! I wasn't at all certain what to expect but it certainly exceeded all my expectations. It is a page turner and very different story. The dilemmas faced by Sky and people like her are highlighted in a well paced, engaging read. The characters are well developed and it is easy to empathise with most of them - especially the main characters. Although I was gifted a copy of this story this is still my honest review after reading it. This is the first story I've read by this author but she's certainly one I'll be looking out for more in future!

Skylark Samuels is not like other people. She has a gift. One that she has never exposed to anyone until someone she loved was in danger. Now things have backfired. She’s forced to go away to college to a place where no one knows her. She tries to be invisible. No one can know her gift if she remains unseen. Or so she thought. Dylan Parks is the guy at school everyone wants. Drop dead gorgeous and popular, he’s drawn to Skylark in ways he never thought possible. But Skylark promised to stay away and not let anyone too close. Because finding out her secret? It would be devastating.

“I knew you were an extraordinary person, Skylark Samuels, before I knew anything else about you.”

Dylan and Skylark have this electrifying connection. One that the author never tells you about, but she allows you to feel it. Despite Skylark’s reservations about getting close with Dylan, their attraction is undeniable. Their souls tethered on a level that cannot be put into words. Their love is intense, complicated and inevitable. When forced to reveal herself to someone, Skylark expects the worst, but is faced with understanding. Until one person threatens to expose her leaving her vulnerable and in the dark about her future.

“I didn’t think I could be with someone who makes me feel this way.”
“What way?”
“Like the world isn’t such a bad place if it has you in it.”

I am vague on the plot as this is the type of story that you experience. The author has this innate talent to paint a world like no other. Vivid in colors with alluring prose and a compelling and addicting storyline, this is a book you will never be able to put down. I read it in one sitting. Start to finish.

“I think I finally did it.”
“Did what?”
“Convince my little bird to land.”

Harmful Rush reminds me of my love for a well executed paranormal romance. Powerful and consuming, I was absolutely left breathless as I read this book. The manifestation of the storyline was absolutely brilliant. I was fully immersed in the story as I found myself LIVING through every single scene. All their highs and lows. Their earth shattering love story. The suspense will have you flipping the pages and I can guarantee you have never read a story like this one. Whether you’ve read paranormal romance or are new to the genre, you will find this to be an unforgettable read. Days later, my heart continues to beat over the story and the characters. Fate is questioned, but their love never is. Magnetic and fascinating this was easily one of my top reads of 2017.

Harmful Rush is a young adult paranormal by author Debra Doxer. Harmful Rush is the third book in the Remedy series, but it can be read as a complete standalone. It follows a different group of characters and is in a college setting. I loved the first two books in the Remedy series, which followed a different couple, so I knew I had to continue on in this world where some people can heal with just a touch! Even though Harmful Rush can be read as a total standalone, I would really recommend starting with Keep you From Harm because I think it does a great job of setting up the ability and introducing you to some important characters. (we got to see them again near the end of Harmful Rush by the way and I was super excited! I love Raielle and Lucas!)

In Harmful Rush we meet Sky, who has the same ability as Raielle. She can heal someone with just a touch. The ability is much more complex than that and there are repercussions for the user, but Debra Doxer does a fantastic job revealing all of that, so you will have to read the books to get a better understanding of how the ability works. I am totally fascinated by the idea of it all. I love it. I love the world. I love the characters. And I really really love how the book left off, with the possibility of more Sky and Raielle in the next installment.

Harmful Rush was a book that I read in one sitting. Once I picked it up, I really couldn't put it down. Debra has this great ability to create a world that feels so three dimensional that you get get trapped inside it. It felt totally real to me. And the characters. Whoa. Whether you love them or hate them (there are both in this book) I couldn't get enough of them. Harmful Rush reminded me of my love for the world building in the Remedy series. I can't wait for the next book. If you have not read a Debra Doxer book, what on earth are you waiting for? She is a fantastic author, and I have enjoyed all 4 of the books I have read from her. (The Remedy series, and The Candy series.)

Bottom line: If you are a fan of paranormal ability books, The remedy series is one you should check out. The world building is great. The ability to heal is fascinatingly complex and the characters are really compelling. I love these books.

So... I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to paranormal books. Years ago I read the first book in this series, Keep You from Harm. I fell in love with it IMMEDIATELY. So I was SO EXCITED when I saw Debra was releasing a THIRD book in this series surrounding different characters.

One of the reasons why I love these books is because how UNIQUE they are. I have NEVER read a book like was like these. I thought Harmful Rush got better and better as the story progressed. As the story progressed I also fell in love with Dylan more and more. It was lovely seeing a certain couple again that I was hoping for. ;)

I know I keep using the word "love" in this review because I simply LOVED THIS BOOK.

I'm not sure if this book was the final one in the Remedy Series or not, but if it was I think it ended on a great note!!

"Would he still hold me like this if he knew my secret? I close my eyes and pretend the answer is yes."

Young Adult supernatural perfection! Harmful Rush was exactly what I was looking for! I finished this novel about a month ago and it was everything I was searching for! It had mystery, angst, romance, danger, sweet and careful moments, moments that took my breath away, and just the right amount of drama. My eyes were glued to the pages and, I swear, they never left until the last word was read.

"I'm a mystery waiting to be solved wondering what to do in the meantime, and afraid the meantime is all there is."

I haven't read the first two novels in this series, but you better believe I will be One-Clicking them in the future. However, you do not have to read the first two to understand HR, it is a complete standalone. While this is a YA novel, it breaths new life into the genre as it breaks the mold and ventures and explores new lessons young adults learn and how to navigate growing up. The plot, romance *swoons*, and character development was executed beautifully and was perfectly balanced.

Skylark and Dylan were amazing together. I loved the angsty push and pull moments they shared. Both were characters that had seen and felt heartbreaking pain and were still learning from mistakes of their past and how to deal with the demons that haunt them daily. They had to learn to trust one another and let the other in. One of my favorite things about reading is when you get to see a strong willed character let their guard down and open their heart to someone. It's moving and beautiful!

If you are a fan of paranormal or YA you will LOVE this novel!

XX,

Jennifer

**** 4.5 Cranky Stars ****

All of her life Skylark (Sky) Samuels has had to hide her abilities from the world, only her and her adoptive father Owen knows that she can heal people by touching them.

During a school shooting she slips up and heals her best friend who was gut shot and unleashes a witch hunt when Zoey, who now fears her, tells the story to everyone.

Instead of attending the local collage, she now has to go to Rosemore collage several hundred miles away where no one knows her, for her own safety.

Then she meets Dylan Parks, the campus heart throb, and he is interested in HER!

What follows is the perfect blend of Paranormal, romance and suspense as Sky makes friends, enemies and finds out more about her ability.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to the young and young at heart.

Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl and vice-versa. But the girl has a secret, and it’s a doozy.
Sky and Dylan are the perfect couple. Their romance is sweet, and their connection is captivating. Imagine the perfect girl and the perfect guy making cute at the frat party and being the “It” couple on campus. It could be sickeningly sweet, but in Doxer’s hands it is not. I would have enjoyed being the third wheel in their relationship just to bask in their puppy love. But Doxer ups the ante and throws in a curveball conflict that serves to drive a wedge between the couple.
Harmful Rush is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, which is how I came to read it. Doxer does a good job in providing enough backstory that continues the narrative without rehashing the entire series, which I appreciated. However, there are no big surprises, and the events unfold in a predictable manner. Still there is much to like as the writing is strong, the characters likable, and the emotion believable. Still I wanted Harmful Rush to hit it out the park. Instead, it settles for a high popup that crashes back to earth too quickly.

My Review
I thought the book was pretty good, I really loved Sky and how badly she wanted to help people, especially the ones she loves, with her gift.
I think Sky was my favorite character. I liked Dylan, he wasn't my favorite hero ever but I did think that him and Sky were cute together. Sky's gift was pretty awesome, and the story was interesting. I really wish I could put my finger on why this book wasn't a 5 star read for me. I think it's just that I have read so many great book's lately, and this book wasn't quite there. I really felt like it really was more like a 3 1/2 stars, but I had to round it up to a 4 star. The reason why is because of Sky, I just loved that she wanted to help people. There was a villain in the story and I just have to say what a jerk he was. While his sister was so awesome. I haven't read the first two books in the series but I really get them eventually.
I was really glad that I had a chance to take part in the tour for this book. I am very happy that I asked to take part in the tour. And that I was chosen to be one of the reviewers. So thanks so much too all parties involved that chose me to take part in it.

Title: Harmful Rush
Author: Debra Doxer

4 unexpected stars

I haven't had the chance to really immerse myself in a paranormal/young adult romance story; in fact, it's been so long that i think we're going back to years ago when i read the Vampire Diaries and then life happened and my kindle took the place of my paperbacks. I hadn't heard of Debra Doxer before, but boy did the blurb to Harmful Rush captivate me. It also had me curious to find out what would happen in her book, especially considering that it's a standalone in her Remedy series (obviously, it's clear to see that i haven't had a chance to read any of the previous instalments before picking up this book). Surprisingly, it is a standalone, that does make some reference to other characters that i'm guessing are in the previous books, but it tells Skylark and Dylan's story after Skylark is forced (by no fault of her own) to make the decision to rethink her future. Her college is no longer the one in town, one that she's chosen where she can start a new life, under the radar. The only problem: the boy that every girl wants has taken notice of her and wants to know her better. Suddenly, Sky wants to be normal, but events will force her to decide if keeping her secret is the most important thing in her life.

4 breath taking dreams

I was pleasantly surprised: for a young adult novel, it had many elements that i would have expected from a contemporary romance, without going too much into details. It was beautiful, enchanting, breath taking, but most of all, it was entertaining. No, i didn't have to read the previous books to understand what was going on, but boy do i want to know more about what Debra Doxer writes about because Skylark and Dylan's life were the kind that gave me that spark back. The one that had changed over when i received my kindle and filled it out with more erotic genre novels. For certain i'll be keeping my eyes open for more by this author in the future, curious to see where she will be taking this series.

I reviewed this book on behalf of Book Addict. Live
Harmful Rush is the first book I have read by Debra Doxer and won’t be the last. Although set in the Remedy world, it can be read as a standalone.
I have to say this book had surprises, I just imagined a girl goes to college meets cute guy with the usual angst. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Skylark Samuels is a girl with a secret, a secret that was exposed during a shooting at her school. Skylark goes to college away from home until things quieten down and it’s the best thing she did.
This is a book I really enjoyed, it was different in many respects, but Sky and Dylan were great together and she saves him in more ways than one. This was a love story with the paranormal thrown in, which combined made an enjoyable mixture. I also loved Trevor and Maggie they made me smile.

Quick Reasons: just a bit of insta-love; interesting "coming of age/discovery of self" journey; I didn't really connect with these characters; the romance was a bit unbelievable; the plot was intriguing and entertaining, but not filled with many answers

Huge thanks to Debra Doxer and Xpresso Book Tours for sending me a free digital galley of this title in exchange for an honest review! This in no way altered my read of or opinions on this book.

"I want something you're not ready for."

"What exactly is that?"

"Everything," he blurts angrily. "I want everything with you. I want your days and nights. I want to be a part of every meaningful moment, and all the mundane ones too. When you smile, I want it to be because of something I said or did. I'm greedy when it comes to you. I want it all, and you're not ready for that."

This was an interestingly bittersweet read for me. I became SUPER invested in the story pretty early on--the beginning of this hooked me, put me right into the action, and made me want to keep going. I wanted to know more--about Skylark, about her abilities, about the world around her and how such things came to be. Unfortunately, I felt a bit stiffed in terms of answers at the closing of this read--I don't feel as if we really LEARNED much more about Sky than we start out already knowing, because she doesn't come up with many answers on her journey either. It was a bit disappointing--I'd been hoping, I suppose, for a more complex story than the one I ended up being given.

That being said, this WAS an entertaining and thought-provoking read. While I didn't necessarily feel a strong connection to the characters, I was also not wholly distanced from them--I cared about what happened, was rooting for them or disgusted by them in turn. I sat down to read this this afternoon, and finished it in a matter of a few short hours; the read is fast-paced and easy to fall into. I am intrigued by the world that I found myself residing in, and am interested in possibly picking up the other books in this series to see what else I'm missing out on. There's a sense of...unfinished about this read, I guess--I'm not sure if the rest of the series holds the answers I seek, but I'm willing to at least try and find out.

"Do you know how to play?" Dylan asks.

I nod confidently. "If the ball comes near me, I run in the other direction."

The romance was a bit of an insta-love moment, and parts of it felt disingenuous to me as a reader. While it's realistic for the most part, I felt Skylark and Dylan moved a bit too quickly in other instances. I was, honestly, more invested in the romance between Trevor and Maggie. There was also a bit of a love triangle happening that I didn't particularly care for. Still, Dylan and Sky were endearing and adorable in their own way, and I wouldn't pass their romance off as wholly unrealistic.

Overall, I had a fun few hours stepping into this world, even though I feel like I was left with more questions than answers at the ending. The characters are complex and believable, and the romance only a little unrealistic. I'd recommend this read to lovers of fantasy, genetic quirks, and fast-paced plots. Duck and run, penguins; danger lurks in these pages!

Also, you can find this review on my blog: Review:Harmful Rush

When i started reading this book i had no idea if i would like it or not,but i do have to admit that this wasn't the first book written by this author that i've read so far. I liked the fact that it was well written and it had an interesting story..And the characters?Well, the characters were ok at first, but once i got the chance to read more about them my opinion changed completely, from ok to awesome.
The idea, even if i've read about people who could heal before, was perfect and i liked how everything evolved step by step, how it became more than just a story about girl who had powers. Well, for me the beginning was a real mystery and when i started to understand more about Sky and what she could do,i was pretty much excited and thrilled that i got the chance to read this.

Skylark's life turned upside down when something horrible happened at her school. Something that forced her to move away from her adoptive father and away from everything she knew. Her secret was out in the open and she was harrassed by other people who thought she could help them. Yet Sky's secret was bigger then everything and she had to do anything in her powers to protect herself, even if that meant she had to go away. What if going to another school will change her life forever? What if that meant she will find someone who will accept her without putting her in danger? But what if..something horrible happens again? Will Skylark survive this or she will be forced to run again?

I admit that when i received this arc i was happy and i couldn't wait to read it,but once i finished it i couldn't find my words ,so i had to wait a little until i could write this review.
This book was amazing and i don't have words to describe what i liked most about it. Yes,it started strong and i got the chance from the beginning to read about what Sky was capable of,something that i really ,really appreciate. I do love this kind of beginnings, they make me want to know and sometimes i can't put the book down until i know more.It happened this time, because i enjoyed reading about Sky and the other characters.Especially when i started reading aboutDylan Parks.Hello there, handsome!

Dylan Parks was the best thing that could happen to Sky,even if it was a little crazy how things happened between them.Handsome, charming and ,of course, the most popular boy,Dylan Parks surprised me from the beginning. He was kind and a little mysterious, surrounded by rumours that weren't true ,rumours that made him look like a bad guy, even if he wasn't.Stubborn and a little too curious,Dylan managed to win my heart ,step by step, just by trying to make Sky see that he wasn't exactly the boy who people were talking about.Sweet and a little intense, yet the kind of guy every girl wanted.

Skylark, strange name but i loved it,wasn't exactly how i expected her to be.She was strong and determined ,the kind of character that makes you think about a lot of things. What i liked most about her?The fact that she never gave up.Knowing what she can do ,even if she knew she was putting herself in danger, she helped a lot of people without expecting anything from them.It was pretty much what i liked about her character:the fact that she wasn't selfish, that she wanted to help people and she never asked something for herself. But tshe was too naive and because of that someone used her .

It was a little funny how things started to happen between Sky and Dylan. How she tried to avoid him and make him stay away from her.Yeah,i understand now the why's and all the jazz, but still,i wished it could have happen sooner, because those two together?Perfect.
Many ups and downs. Many surprises.I liked every chapter.A lot of crazy things happened in this book and i still can't believe what happened with Shane and how he manipulated Sky.Grr,i thought he was a good guy,but i was wrong, wrong and very wrong. But,hey, everything got better ,so ,yeah,i'm a little dissapointed but well, there had to be a bad guy, right?Yikes.

This book was amazing .Once i started reading i couldn't stop myself..Something that happens to me only when i find a really good book.

Review to come!

Update 4/22/17:

See more reviews on my blog Novels and Necklaces

"I want to live in the same moment I'm breathing in."

This is the first book I have read by Debra Doxer, and boy was I impressed. I received an ARC of this book as part of the upcoming blog tour, and was relieved when I saw that it was a stand-alone. I was worried that I would be missing something or that I wouldn't be able to connect to the story as much as I wanted because this was technically the third book in the series. However, this is definitely not the case!! Debra Doxer wrote an excellent story that I would highly recommend checking out. It's the perfect mix of paranormal elements and contemporary romance. The college setting made for the perfect backdrop to the story, and every character was well-developed.

"My whole life has been spent waiting for something more. Answers, reasons, truths."

Skylark (whose name I love by the way for its uniqueness) is our MC, and she was absolutely amazing. I loved her from the get go, and she is easily relatable. She has a secret and when that secret is exposed, she's forced to start her life over in a new town and around new people. I loved how seamlessly this "paranormal" element was incorporated into the story. It definitely drove the book forward, and I was eager to see how exactly it would come into play during the story. One of the first people Sky meets when she starts her life over and begins college is Dylan. And boy did I love him! The chemistry that Sky and Dylan have is off-the-charts!! I loved their scenes together and he truly helped her become the person she was meant to be.

Every touch of his skin scorches mine, and the way he tastes is as though I've been craving some intangible thing forever, and I've finally found what satisfies it."

One thing that I appreciated was the slow burn of Sky and Dylan's relationship. Ms. Doxer never forces their relationship in your face...she just lets their relationship build naturally. They experience ups and downs like any couple their age (or any age for that matter). They work together to build each other up and support each other in any way the other needs. From the minute they meet, you can easily see they are meant for each other. And I was definitely rooting for them the entire novel!

Just when I think he's going to push me away, he gathers me in his arms like he'll never let go."

I wish I could go into the plot but I don't want to spoil anything. However, what I will say is that it is extremely unique and exciting. Ms. Doxer balances the mystery element with the romance/contemporary elements very well. There is plenty of exciting/thrilling scenes, especially toward the end, when Sky's secret is threatened to be exposed and she is left vulnerable and torn on what she should do. Ms. Doxer's writing is gorgeous, and the entire story is beautifully written. The story is very compelling and addicting, and I never wanted to stop reading!

I would highly recommend checking out this story by Debra Doxer! It is definitely one you do not want to miss, and it makes it even better that it's a standalone. I know that I will 100% be checking out the other books in the series as soon as possible though! The story is unforgettable and will stay with you long after you finish reading. With fantastic writing and an exciting story, this is a must read for 2017!

Happy reading :)

Skylark lives by the simple rules to not tell anyone where she came from or what she can do. When a classmate becomes unhinged at school and pulls a gun in the classroom, shooting Sky's best friend, Sky reacts on instinct and heals her friend. Sky ends up being ostracized by everyone, even her best friend, who spread rumors of what Sky could do. Sky ends up changing her plans to get away, and finds herself at a college far from the security of her adopted father. There Sky has a chance to be someone new and have regular experiences, as well as flirting with the cute popular boy Dylan. But soon her happy world is destroyed and Sky is not sure what she can do.

I was intrigued with this book when I first read the synopsis (and saw the cover which was so very pretty), knowing that I had to read the book. I was a little miffed when I saw that this was book 3 in a series, but then I saw that this was a standalone so I figured I would give the book a whirl with no background into the world. I was pleasantly surprised that this was a complete story and I did not feel like I was missing out on anything for nor having read the previous books. I found this story to be full of mystery, supernatural, teen drama, romance, and all the FEELS! I blew through the book in a day because I became lost in the story, and Sky was such a relatable character I could not help but root for her (and to be honest, Dylan was dreamy). It was great to have a new kind of supernatural story when I feel like everything has become the same.

This book had such a sweet, hopeful ending that I was pleasantly surprised by. The story started out so lonely and wounded, but as the story progressed, even with the mystery and scary life-altering things that happened, the tone of the book became more uplifting and wrapped up everything so well. This is definitely a stand-alone story, but with meeting the characters from the first books, I really want to get my hands on the first books in the Remedy series because I lurv Lucas and Ray. I am really glad I got the chance to read this story and I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a different kind of paranormal romance.

I received this title from the author in return for my honest review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC copy of Harmful Rush provided by Xpresso Tours and the author. Thank you so much for the reviewing opportunity!

I've had my fair share of vampires and werewolves, witches and wizards, so when it comes to the paranormal genre - as much as I love reading them - there isn't much that goes beyond "seen that, read that". But, to my utter surprise, Harmful Rush unique storyline blew my expectations out of the window and I found myself compelled to finish the story in one sitting.

Oh! I'm so very tempted to reveal what Sky's gift is, but that would be giving away a major plot point and I would rather you discover it for yourself. One thing though, the author does know to make a grand entrance! Barely 5% into the story and the plot took an interesting twist, forcing Sky to reveal her ability and ....let's just say things escalated quickly. Because of all the rumors and assault, Sky has to move away from home to attend college, where she met Maggie and Dylan Parks.

Oh my Dylan. A jock with a tender heart, his boyish charms knows no bounds AS he swept me off my feets! I really adore the romance in the story. The author took the time to develop Sky and Dylan's relationship, even though it was a crush-at-first-sight sort of thing, they always seem to put a smile on my face. Maggie was also such a fun character! I sort of wished there's more to the side story of her and Trevor.

There are teenage angst, drama, and lots of swoon-worthy scenes, but the best one yet was the plot twist that caught me blindsided, and the fact that it was so action packed just added lots of brownie points to the story. YOU JUST HAVE TO READ IT.

To be honest, I did not expect to love it this much! I'm definitely checking out the rest of the series because now that I have a taste of the author's works, I'm craving for more.

What a find! This book is written by Debra Doxer who knows her craft very well. She has a pleasant writing style that reads with ease and develops an interesting and unique plot that guides you through the life and adventure of Skylark. I found this book refreshing and loved reading every single page of it. It led to a sleepless night because it was extremely difficult to put down, but I finally had to give up thanks to this thing I call work but made sure to finish it the very next day at the next chance I got. Not often do I find a book that captivates me this well! The pace was absolutely perfect and it never left me wishing for anything!

Skylark is an adorable character and you can't help but love her! I have liked many characters throughout my "reading career" but not that many that I loved, well she made the list. There is just something about her that feels so real and endearing that got to me!
Maggie is the friend everyone in this world deserves, but sadly not everyone gets! She is honest and a true friend, one Sky deserves! And oh boy Dylan, what a match for Sky. He is nothing short but perfect and she sure hit the jackpot. Yes this is a young adult with lots of romance thrown in, but forefront is still the paranormal.

This book was very well written and had me glued to the pages. I paid for it the next day thanks to the lack of sleep I had but it was well worth it. I can only recommend this book to everyone who loves some romance, paranormal and enjoys a book that really evokes some real emotion!

Harmful Rush is a stand alone book and only afterwards did I find out there are 2 other books in this "series". Trust me I will be picking up both of those in the very near future!

I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)

I got “Harmful Rush” during a dry spell. A real bookish dry spell that made me reread my old favorites, because nothing new really captured my attention. This book hit me right in the chest and wrapped my soul in beautiful words.
I should have read the first two books before this one, not because I couldn’t understand the plot, but because I was missing out on two great books. Harmful Rush is a complete standalone and can be read without the first two books in this series.
The characters were great. They were well developed and sucked me right into their story without stumbling over plot holes or other irregularities. This book is not your regular paranormal or romance book. It has the best of both worlds.
The plot itself and the struggle of the main characters was so real, so gripping that I shed some tears because of the beauty of the words and the story. The anguish Skylark felt after what she went through was so heartbreaking that I really thought nothing could bring a Happily Ever After after the events that took place in the end. I thought it was over and yet I would have given five stars. Five stars for one of the best books so far in 2017 and probably through the whole year.
I have problems putting my thoughts and feelings properly in this review, but if you are looking for a gripping paranormal romance that makes you question if this could be reality. Read this book. Read it and cry.

I generously received an ARC from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review...

This book is my first Debra Doxer read, but I will happily admit that it certainly won’t be my last! I haven’t read many paranormal books in last few years since I binge read this genre when it was in its most “popular phase.” However, after reading Harmful Rush I think I may have to start one-clicking this genre once again!

There is just so much that I want to tell you about this story, but it is nearly impossibly to do so without spoiling something major in the storyline. I loved how the author chose to write this book and it’s amazing how it instantly captured my attention. Although this book is part of the Remedy series, it is considered a STANDALONE and can certainly be read and enjoyed as one. Since I enjoyed this book so much I plan to check out the rest of this series soon!

This book gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!! I adored this story. It was different and unique. Unlike so many paranormal Romance stories.
I was clueless this was part of a series. This is a standalone novel and I never felt like I was missing any information. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this story, this is the first book I've read by this author.
I immediately felt connected to the main character Sky and fell in love with her story. With the paranormal world most stories have been just slightly retold hundreds of times, and I was expecting the "been there, read that" story. This book was compelling and I devoured it! Lest to say, I will be reading the first two books of this series and looking to see what else Debra Doxer has written. This was perfectly balanced with fast-paced, action, funny, romantic, and breath taking moments.
This is one of those books I feel the need to thank the author for creating it. Thank you Debra Doxer for sharing this beautiful story! 💖 💖 💖

What a wonderful book. Finished in a day, couldn't put the book down.
Sky isn't a normal teenager, she has to hide her secret from everyone.
But when helping someone changes everything, and exposes her. Sky must head to an out of state college.
Thinking that she can hide out and no one know her secret. Changes when she starts to make friends and suddenly the needing to keep her life a secret is hard to do.
Meeting Dylan, the popular guy on campus who likes Sky. She can't believe he likes her. Sky wants to tell Dylan everything, but will he still be her friend?
When something happens to make her reveal her secret, will she trust in her friend or run? Will Dylan accept her secret?

Harmful rush is an interesting mix of mysterious, fast-paced, leave you guessing until the end kind of story. Harmful Rush is the story of Dylan a jock college student and Skylark a freshman coming in from traumatic event during her senior year. Sparks fly and connections form but when you add others players to the team, things get a little dicey. Skylark thinks she is alone in the world until she finds someone with her special abilities but all is not as it seems. There are plenty of twists and turns with a good story line. I think you will enjoy Harmful Rush let me know your thoughts?

More, more, and more...that's what I am thinking after reading this book. I was hook by the first chapter. Just what I was looking for a great emotional roll-coaster. I found the story to be action packed, and a wonderful fast-paced page turning mystery. Very humorous, romantic, and heartwarming.

Love love love!!!

I really enjoyed all three of these books, and I am a nearly 50 year old woman! They have everything you could want - hero, heroine, villain, tragic flaws and obstacles to overcome! Just lovely reading that while it has passion, wouldn’t be too much for a 15 year old plus. Heck, compared to what is on tv these days, this is rated G! But I need more on this story and of the super Ray! Hints dropped are not nearly enough!

I was just scrolling through books to read and found Debra Doxer. I read intro's to each of her books and could not wait to begin reading and Harmful Rush is my first, and i was not disappointed. This book is about a healer and living in the moment. Skylark was found by Owen the man she healed as an infant and became her devoted father. When Skylark went to college she met Dylan and the rest of her life began. Great book.
