Sorcerous Deeds
Adept Solutions, Book 2
By: Teagan Kearney
Narrated by: Elisabeth Lagelee
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
If you like vampires, elves, suspense, shape-shifting monsters, and great fantasy then this is for you. It is a small book and just right for a book before bed, when you get that brief time of quiet, or on the beach, or on the plane. I read book one but I think you could read this without reading book one but I think you would enjoy it more by reading book one first.
The narrator was good at performing several voices.

Sorcerous Deeds (Adept Solutions #2), my second read/listen from author Teagan Kearney, although I own five of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one before. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it & since I own both the Audible & Kindle editions I was able to follow along while being read to. Elisabeth Lagelee’s talented narration & wide variety of voices again adds to the well-written book's enjoyment. I look forward to the next book in the series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Urban Fantasy meets Old school detective series
I really love the way the author has taken the old school detective style and transplanted it into a world full of paranormal creatures. We get everything from damsels in distress to missing objects. The characters are funny and relatable, and the book well written in general.

Sorcerous Deeds Adept Solutions Bk 2 by Teagan Kearney Review
Missing Princess, exploding portals, and monstrous shapeshifters!

When a cruel sorcerer appears in Tropolis, murdering and kidnapping its citizens, how far is private investigator JB Lucerne prepared to go to rid his city of this evildoer? And will that be far enough? JB’s private detective agency is successful, even if he can’t say the same for his love life, but when two elven princes turn up and demand he fulfills a blood bond by finding a missing princess, he has no choice but to take the case. Heading up an alliance with others provoked by a vindictive sorcerer’s murderous deeds, JB tracks the princess to the blighted Wraithlands. The allies face exploding portals and monstrous shapeshifters, but can they rescue the kidnapped princess in time to prevent her death releasing havoc on an unsuspecting world?

What did I like? The “HOT” JB Lucerne, fantasy, shapeshifters, elven’s, can only lead to a great read. I fell in love with JB in the first book and he is even hotter in this one. Having a private detective agency and is overseen by your father at every step can only make things more interesting.

What will you like? Enthralling, fascinating, intriguing, riveting and interesting mystery with a liberal amount of magic, humor, and fantasy will take you on a journey to the Wraithlands and back. Teagan Kearney’s urban fantasy novella is imaginatively creative and will keep you page turning till the last one and will be looking for the next one to be released. I received this from the author for an honest review with no other compensation.

I enjoyed listening to book 1, but book 2 is even better. You learn more about the characters, Get a little deeper into some of the back stories. That is the one thing I HATE about novellas. I don't feel you can tell a complete story in under 200 pages. But the Adept Solutions books have a two pack for the first 2 books. I highly recommend buying the 2 pack. That's another reason I don't read many novella, I hate wasting a credit on something that wont even last a day. But with the first two/three books read right after each other. Its almost like reading a novel. I already started the first 3 or 4 chapters of book 3. It is a little longer. And I can already tell that each book seems to be getting better and better. I'm thinking book three may be the last of the series. Which is disappointing. I love all the characters. And if each book gets better, I'd love to see what book 8 is like lol.
The narrator (audible) did a good job. She wasn't my fav but I liked her well enough. She definitely added to the story. I'll let you know how book 3 goes. It should only take another 2hours or so. If your looking for a quicky, fun, paranormal, detective novella series, I highly recommend this one!

My actual rating is 3.8 stars.

Years ago, I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it enough to purchase the next two books for later reading. Despite the time that has passed, I can still perceive the growth in the characters since I last encountered them. The narrative provides explanations about the city, its direction, the citizens, and the unfolding of history. The presence of mythological creatures in their city is commonplace, adding depth and intrigue to the ensemble of characters.

In Tropolis, a malevolent sorcerer commits murder and abduction. Private investigator JB Lucerne must decide how far he's willing to go to eradicate this threat. His detective agency thrives, yet his romantic life does not share the same success. When elven royalty demands he honor a blood bond by locating a missing princess, JB has no option but to accept. Forming an alliance against the sorcerer's heinous acts, JB and his allies venture into the desolate Wraithlands. They confront volatile portals and formidable shapeshifters in a race to save the princess and avert a catastrophe.

Fans of enthralling mysteries blended with ample magic and wit will find Teagan Kearney’s 'Sorcerous Deeds a captivating read, the second installment in the 'Adept Solutions series.

First, I have to start off by stating that I got this book free of charge in exchange for a review, but as I always state, this does not in any way impact my review. My reviews are always honest and my own.

The narration was pretty good, and I had no trouble distinguishing between the different characters. The delivery was smooth and well paced.

The plots are not overcomplicated; JB and his team take a job, investigate into the case and follow the leads, and then get the bad guy and save the day, all without much effort really, and with the help of JB's grandfather, who happens to be a powerful demon:) The only problem is, they have it almost too easy; the bad guys turn out to be not so powerful, the obstacles are overcome in an instant and problems are not so problematic...

[received free for review -audio book // narrator - 3 stars - (fairy voice - 5stars)]
-----

When you are looking for something light, with a bit humour this book should do. Yes, this is another story series about a detective in the paranormal world, but the spin on the quirky and unconventional characters make it a charming read.
If you are looking for a serious hard-core detective mystery story, this book is not for you.
It is a clean, not quite cozy, style book that could fall under the young adult category.

These books are ridiculous in a good way. It’s crazy how fast you can be swept away in these books with JB and his now successful agency. Having love life issues but being called to fill a blood bond promise JB and his team have to find a missing princess. Although not all is perfect on his team with one of his members missing. Will they find the princess? Will they find Jason. Buckle in and enjoy another action packed book.

Ok I use cute loosely here because there is death, demons, werewolves and other creatures but it’s still cute. I really enjoy the worlds built here. The characters too.
Narration is excellent, Elisabeth Lagelee does a great job. I will continue this series as new books come out. It’s a good escape.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy at no charge by the author, publisher and or narrator.

A Dream Detective Team.
I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this fantasy story of intrigue and revenge. Magical and mystical characters form to rescue a kidnapped victim of a highly elusive mage. I look forward to reading more from this author. The narrators performance was great.

my 2nd book from this author, and I think the first book in the series had a better plot. Still there are good characters and I'm still watching as they develop.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book :) this is the second story in a series of novellas about a group of characters in a paranormal detective agency :) that is of course a very short and overly simplified way of describing them, so let me give you a few more details :) first of all, this is book #2 but it's not necessary to read the first one to enjoy this story... yes, I recommend you to do it, because that way you will understand all the dynamics better, but you can enjoy this one as a standalone :) second of all, let's talk about all the team members :) so we have JB, the owner and part daemon, Nikki, who is part imp, human twins Gemma and Jason with some very unusual abilities and Zhanna, a fairy :) the story itself takes place in an alternate version of our world, where people are aware of paranormal creatures... :) and that's basically it :) I can't really tell you much more, because it's a novella, so any additonal info might be too spoilerific ;) so let me jump into a few more details about this particular installment and why I adore it and the whole series :)

If you think that just because this is a novella, not much is happening, think again... :) because we have a missing elven princess that may or may not have been kidnapped... a missing member of the team who definitely was kidnapped... an evil sorcerer with a very evil plan... and a whole bunch of other paranormal creatures and events... :) see? I told you a lot is going on :) it's been a few months since the events from the first story, and we see how things and relationships change within our group of characters... again, no details because of spoilers :) you know? I think I'm just gonna get into all the reasons why I love this book and this series, that should be a safe topic ;) first of all, the writing style :) it's amazing... very entertaining, it pulls you in from the very first chapter... the story is once again filled with surprising turns, complex characters and once again, I need more :) honestly, I love this series so much, that I would love to read a full lenght novel at some point about them... cause I feel like we barely saw glimpses of all the possible awesomeness ;) in this second story we get to know all the team members a bit better and I love them even more... each of them is an individual, but they care so much about each other... GAH! I just love their dynamics... with the sarcastic banter, and everything... but they can count on each other when it really matters :) I highly recommend you guys this book, and this amazing series in general, especially if you don't have a lot of free time :) each of these novellas can be read very quickly :) so go check them out ;) you can thank me later :)

XOXO

The second instalment in this series builds on the promising introduction of the first book with the author having more time for the plot and overall character development as all the introductions for the main cast were out of the way in the first book. One slight downside is that some of the developments have tend towards the soap opera a little too much, but the more supporting members of the main cast generally got more time spent on them this time so it is building towards a solid ensemble rather than one or two headliners plus others.

The narrator came across as being more comfortable with the style and characters than in the first book, continuing to have a suitably distinctive range of tones for the cast and nicely enhancing the story.

Overall, this is another enjoyable episode in this series, that is a nice quick listen too if you are looking for a change after something longer.

This is the first in the series, and by author and narrator, that I've listened to, and it was awesome! There's all kinds of crazy characters, some good and some bad. This sorta reminds me of the show Angel (Buffy spinoff), which I loved! Love the PI/paranormal combo, think it works well. Endless possibilities. Thought the book was well-written and enjoyed the narration also, think it's definitely worth the read/listen/credit!

This is the second book in the Adept Solutions series. It is a standalone book and can be read without reading the first book.

What I liked about this book - and what I missed in the first book -- was more character development. I also enjoyed that there was less whining/complaining by the characters within the agency about each other. This was a more involved story - between an evil wizard and the succubus.

The publisher’s summary is good so I won’t elaborate. This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. Having not read the first book was not an issue. I enjoyed the story. It is an easy listen. I found the story was simple, I would not say the mystery was “gripping”, and the plot and conclusion was uncomplicated. There were no long, drawn out conflicts and no cliffhangers, and it’s easy to see how there will be future books.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator and i think Elizabeth Lagelee did a pretty good job with all the characters and the action of the story.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.
