Tamra Baumann is an award-winning author of light-hearted contemporary romance and cozy mystery. A reality-show junkie, she justifies her addiction by telling others she’s scouting for potential character material. She adamantly denies she’s actually living vicariously in their closets. Tamra resides with her real-life characters—her husband, kids, and their adorable golden doodle in the sunny Southwest. Visit her online at: www.tamrabaumann.com
This just goes to show the calibre of this talented author. She brought life to her characters so well that I can honestly say I HATED her doormat of a heroine. The hero reminded me of my BFF. He's a higher functioning autistic genius. She doesn't call it autism in her book, but it made more sense to think of that in order to understand the stubborn and clueless decisions the hero made. To clarify, the hero was clueless, not my BFF.
This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
A storyline threaded with family love, father's love for his son and A widow / mother's love for her daughter .... folks seeking romance and true love forever. Intrigued and held my interest throughtout the book. ..... Well deserving of a 5 star rating.
and totally enjoyed their loyality and friendship of the two kids.
Recommend this book... and I am looking forward to read more of this series.
I received an arc ebook Matched For Love via NetGalley / Publisher in exchange for an honest review.
For this book, the third in the series, we focus on Lori (the sister of Nick who was a focal character in an earlier book) and Derek. Derek is a geek and was dubbed with the nickname Deek. The characters are distinct, believable, and I love the sayings on Deek's t-shirts. I wish the book was a bit longer, but it looks like there will be a fourth and possibly fifth book, so I won't complain.
I just didn’t really care for the geeky but clueless hero. I also realized this series has a heck of a lot of cheating men and bitchy ex girl friends. I also don’t like the trend of moms who just dump their kids like throwing out the trash. Hoping book 4 can win me back over
This was a very well written live story. I enjoyed every chapter. I have read all 3 books and have enjoyed reading this author's books. This book had humor, live, and compassion. Lori and Deeks love story was amazing.
Loved the humor and wit woven into the story. I kept wanting to tune in for next moment Lori and Seek would encounter each other again. Fun read, very entertaining.
Oh my! What a cute story. I devoured this book! Best one in the series. Deek and Lori have great chemistry. What made it great for me was Deek's shirts!
I’ve been looking forward to Lori’s story, having followed this series from the start. Lori is a military widow, raising her daughter, Emily, with a strong support system of family and friends. She’s a matchmaker by trade, but has no immediate interest in finding her own match for she’s been burned and isn’t willing to put her trust in another man… ever.
Deek is a self made millionaire, a single parent to his son Asher since the boy’s biological mother is off on an archaeological dig. Annie is more interested in relics than she is in her son, or the father of her son except maybe for the money he holds. Deek wants Annie to come home, to the place he had built for them, to be with their son as a true family. He is single-minded in this quest. From his own childhood experiences he wants his son raised with his mother and father together. It’s a dream that’s about to turn into a nightmare.
Lori and Deek share an awkward attraction to each other, awkward only in that their kids are friends, in the same grade and neither was really looking for someone. But the attraction is there whether they act on it or not. I don’t want to give away spoilers, so I’ll phrase this carefully. I never, ever saw Lori as a doormat or Deek as some absent minded genius. I saw two people who were basically good, kind and caring people. Both have been hurt by those they cared about, both parents and loved ones. Neither planned on finding love with someone unexpected. Deek strongly believed that somehow he could make Annie love him – we all know it never works that way. Yet this is a man who will have to learn that lesson the hard way.
I enjoyed their romance very much. And I’m not afraid to say I detested Annie, completely. Sometimes love comes when we least expect it. Sometimes we have to rearrange our thoughts on what makes up a true family. In the end, family is a group of people who love and care about each other… no matter the DNA involved.
I would definitely recommend Matched For Love and the entire series to any Romance reader. You’ll find an interesting plot, some angst, some issues and characters to care about. I’m hoping there is more to come for there are secondary characters I want to know more about.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This is technically the third book in the Matchmaker Series, but this one stands completely alone and you do not have to read the first two in order for it to make sense or be enjoyable. This book does have on-screen sex (but nothing kinky) and minor cursing, but no f-bombs.
Although I found myself highly annoyed with Deek more times than I can even begin to count, I still really enjoyed this book, which speaks to Ms. Baumann's incredible ability to tell a story. I enjoyed the interactions between Lori and Deek that showed their friendship, and how they helped each other navigate through the perils of single parenthood, each playing to their strong suits. While Lori was the kind of mom that scrambles to get things done and doesn't always have it together (which I loved), she was fun and more spontaneous. On the other hand was Deek who was the organized Super Dad who home-cooked every meal, and over-regulated every little thing where his son was concerned. Deek was a genius who came across as borderline Aspergers at times, which, if it were true, would explain his quirks and frustrating obsession with reuniting with his son's “mother” (word used in the loosest sense of the word) and their whole ridiculously unhealthy relationship. It would also explain his incredible rigidness/inflexibility with his son. I admit that I wanted to smack him more than once (Rachel absolutely nailed it when she said “For a smart guy, he's being an idiot.”), but I was very happy with how the book ended.
While this wasn't my favorite Tamra Baumann book, for I enjoyed the story for what it was, and I loved the happily ever after. I also thought that Rachel was an interesting character and her story was very intriguing, so I very much look forward to seeing how her story plays out.
I requested and was generously granted a copy of this book via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to write this review, I did so because the story was interesting.
Matched For Love by Tamra Baumann is a cute love story set in the suburbs of Denver. The book is nicely written, the characters are easy to get to know, and the plot flows effortlessly from start to finish.
Lori Went is a matchmaker, part-time student, and single mother. She works very hard to ensure that her daughter Emily is happy, yet she takes little time for herself. It is ironic that she cannot find love, while she is able to create happiness between others. Not only is her young daughter Emily a cutie-pie, she is also a chip of the old block. Matchmaking is an inherited trait in the Went family, and Emily is already on her way to becoming a success.
Deek Cooper is a good-looking and very successful software developer. Growing up he was quite the geek, and now he has not only filled-out, he has Asher, his very intelligent young son, in addition to great wealth. All Deek wants is for Asher to grow up in a loving family with a mother and a father. Deek believes he is in love with Asher's mom, but her long absences from their lives tells a different story.
Lori and Deek meet through their kids and a friendship begins which evolves into love. However, Deek's situation and Lori's trust issues may prevent them from a future together.
I really liked this slightly emotional romance. Lori and Deek are well-defined characters, and their sexual tension was truly well executed. I loved Rachel, Lori's spunky twin, and I hope Ms. Baumann writes her love story. Overall, this is a well written and extremely impassioned novel.

I can't honestly give this a "didn't like it" rating since Tamra Baumann's writing is so engaging and easy to read. I was immediately drawn into the lives of the MCs, but I have to be honest: this story was super frustrating. This was due, in large part, to the H's borderline autistic personality. You can't be angry with him for his obsession of providing his son with the family he himself never had, but he was seriously an idiot. And I felt bad thinking that because he did struggle with recognizing social norms. It also didn't help things that the h was a doormat. Her decision to have a friends with benefits relationship with the H, even after he told her that he would marry his son's mother if she would just accept him, was just dumb. Honestly, I just can't with this story.
Unfortunately, I think the trend with this author and me is this: I like her writing, but I just can't stand the situations that she puts her MCs in. They're just too angsty and not in the productive way, but rather in the "I want to punch someone in the face" kind of way. And the majority of her MCs are pretty annoying/dumb. Her h's tend to be hormonal doormats and her Hs tend to be idiots. I know that there are others are there who adore her books and I'm happy for them. I just don't think they're the right books for me.
Not realizing it, again I've started a new series in the middle. This book was so enjoyable to read, it was sweet, funny & sad all in one. Lori & Deek are both looking for more in relationships. Both are dealing with cheating in their lives & unfortunately for Lori she's lived with it for a long time. Matchmaker Lori thinks Deek is perfect but he's waiting for his sons mother to come home & marry him to finally put some permanence on their family. With things the way they are you wouldn't think that they would start a relationship that might have lasting effects on their lives but they do & it's all ruined by the sudden appearance of Annie his sons mother who's come home to claim her family & Deek's money. My thoughts on this book were that Derek needed to take the blinders off where Annie was concerned & Lori needed to stop being so nice & go for what she wanted. Definitely recommend this book. This book was an ARC from Net Galley for an honest review.
I received a free advance copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. While being third in a series, I didn't feel lost for not having read books 1 or 2. Other characters and stories are mentioned but it doesn't take away from the current story.
The writing was fun and light. This was a perfect book to read after reading some heavy mysteries. I breezed through it within two days and welcomed the lightheartedness. I even found myself laughing out loud at some of the slogan's on Deek's t-shirts. (Seriously, if those t-shirts don't already exist, they certainly should!)
If you love quick, breezy chick lit books, you will enjoy this one. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author, so thank you Netgalley.
I love all the books Tamra has created. This was a great instalment in this series. A couple of single parents that have kids that like each other and parents that become great friends. Then they realize their is more then meets the eye, that there is chemistry and love there too.
I enjoyed reading this, about her understanding and forgiving Joe and Mel, about him finally realizing have a full family of love was better then duty, especially since Annie preferred to be elsewhere.
The only thing I think needs amending is that the kids are formal with Mr. Copper and Mrs. Went.
If Deek has anything to say about it, they'll be a family soon.
Now, when is Rachel's story coming out?
And do we get an update about Jo and her guy? We got the update about the cafe, now we need more.
Another great addition to the “Rocky Mountain Matchmaker” series, Tamra Baumann’s “Matched for Love” had me reading late into the night! We all know “boy gets girl” in romance books, but poor Deek really had me worried there for a second. I needed to keep reading to find out how he was going to pull this off.
Deek was a wonderfully nerdy “geek hero,” and so sweet – he was a joy to read. And Lori was fun, and had all the sass and humor that Baumann is known for.
My favorite part of this book, though, might have been Deek’s and Lori’s respective children, who added their own level of cuteness to the story.
This is a fun series, and I can’t wait to see what Baumann has coming up next!
This was such a great book!!! Lori is a widow raising her young daughter when she meets a fellow single parent of a young boy. Deek is trying to get his girlfriend to come back from traveling with her job to marry him and be a mother to their son. Lori and Deek form a friendship that slowly builds into a romance. It was so great to watch Lori grow, with Deek's help and it was refreshing to read about a hot nerdy guy like Deek. The story was cute, funny, hot and heart wrenching at times. This is a book I could read again and again!
“Matched For Love” is a fast read, even if you haven’t read the first two books in the series. The story brings together two single parents struggling with relationship issues far different and yet similar in the trust department.
The characters draw the reader in, causing the reader to experience a variety of emotions that range from laughter, sadness, regret, exasperation and happiness. I loved its lightheartedness and look forward to reading more from this author.
I loved this story. I wanted it too last a little longer. Lori has had her heart broken by her deceased military husband. Deek has been pinning for his son's mother. Both are afraid to love again. Great build up of all the characters. The reader cheer when they both figure out they are in love with each other. The two main children in the story will remind reafders of the "Parent Trap. I will definitely look for more books from this author.
