ENAMÓRATE DEL LUGAR EN EL QUE ESTÁS

Rate this book

Jeff Foster graduated in Astrophysics from Cambridge University in 2001. Several years after graduation, following a period of severe depression and illness, he became addicted to the idea of "spiritual enlightenment", and embarked on an intensive spiritual search which lasted for several years.

The spiritual search came to an absolute end with the clear seeing that there is only ever Oneness. In the clarity of this seeing, life became what it always was: spontaneous, clear, joyful and fully alive, and Jeff began to write and talk about "nonduality" (which he often calls "the utterly, utterly obvious").

He holds meetings and retreats in the UK and Europe, clearly and directly pointing to the frustrations surrounding the spiritual search, to the nature of mind, and to the Clarity at the heart of everything. His uncompromising approach, full of humor and compassion, shatters the mind's hopes for a future awakening, revealing the awakening that is always already present, right in the midst of life.

"we only want our wanting to end. want means lack. what do you lack in this moment?". There are some insightful questions to ask if you really want to know and accept yourself or life in general.
I gave my first 5* in a while, took me only two days to read it but it will be a nice challenge to read each chapter in its specific month. Guess I have to get back to that September and the meaning of beauty around us.

A book full of inspiring and calming essays/poems about accepting here and now and phases of not knowing. Earlier this year I attended a retreat of Jeff Foster and since then I am a fan of his inspiring view on life and his writings.

It was such a joy to read this book & immerse myself in Jeff's worlds of mindfulness and present-moment living, which really seem to add something fresh and new to this much-written about topic.

A friend had recommend this book to me, which is divided into 12 chapters which represent each month of the year.
The chapters themselves consist of a collection of Jeff's writings and prose, collected here in one volume.

My friend and I each read one chapter per week in isolation, then met up at the weekend to talk about the chapter & what it brought up for us.
There's so much beautiful & poignant stuff here, & we certainly had lots to talk about & reflect on!

I really would highly-recommend this book for anyone who would love to have more peace & tranquiity in their life, & to have something uplifting & inspiring to read & reflect on each week.

Interesting

An interesting insight into accepting the here and now and that now is all there ever is. Thought provoking and liberating. Whilst I read this during a state of no distress or upset, I still appreciated the message. Would recommend for anybody, particularly those seeking to find peace or make sense of their despair. A good lesson that no matter what we are going through or what we are feeling, accept it and turn towards it. Breathe, feel and be grateful!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It accompanied me throughout this year as I delved into the passages/poems/stories it tells each month. There are so many good lines and citations, too many actually so go and discover those that are compelling to you.
I'm enjoying and feeling grateful for each moment...

I fell in love with this book! ❣️So kind and gentle! So comforting and inspiring! Its plain simple message: you are perfect because you are not perfect or as Leonard Cohen puts it: forget your perfect offering! There is a crack in everything; thats how the light gets in.

On the whole I like this, some really good thoughts to ponder. However, I perhaps wouldn't read it if your mood is a little low!

Short yet powerful poems. Non-duality beautifully translated to everyday life situations. Direct and simple.

This was a massive waste of time for me. I zoned out so much because I was bored. There were maybe 2-3 poems in this entire collection that I liked and other than that this was just utter trash. I don't see how this was any help with falling in love with where I'm at now. My Pinterest account has helped me have better positivity about my life because of quotes that have come up in my algorithm. This was nothing but a disappointment.

This is a very beautiful book, really enjoying it. It is to be read with a pinch of salt in the sense that it quite often will seemingly imply not to try and find anything at all, which can be aggravating for anyone on a journey in this area! The most important thing is to read it, reflect, and see how it makes you feel :)

Lovely profound book to read a or a few pages a day. To start your day with or just before bed. Beautiful written and thought provoking but always upbeat and hopeful.
