Baby Daddy

Rate this book
A new sexy standalone romantic comedy told in dual POV by the New York Times bestselling author of That Man and Unforgettable!

I have three cardinal rules:
1. Never mix business with pleasure.
2. Never let a woman spend the night.
3. Never date a woman with kids.

Kids freak me out. God only knows how many this baby daddy has. Man, what was I thinking when I was in college? Me, Drake Hanson. God’s gift to women. Aka Donor 5262. It was a piece of cake and fifteen hundred dollars a month for my deposits (in sperm bank speak) came in handy. I just didn’t think about the consequences. One day, some kid is going to call me Daddy and I’m going to get hit up for child support. Big time.

Now, my father is pressuring me to settle down because the investor who’s looking to acquire his animation company doesn’t want a player running a family-oriented business. Just in time, she came along. The temp. Dee Walker. The minute the hot as sin brunette with her killer curves and those chocolate brown eyes stepped foot in my office and saved me from an ugly disaster with her magic hands, I wanted her to be mine. Except she’s totally off limits. And there’s someone else she loves with all her heart and soul that I can’t replace.

Can my temp become my forever before my past catches up with me? I’m willing to break all the rules.

descriptionSo Y'all might want to sit down as I deliver this news. I LOVED this book. To be straight up honest I had NO plans on reading this one especially after reading the previous synopsis. The immensely classy author contacted me after I had a bit of fun over the blurb letting me know she reworked it and offered me a copy for review. I figured "why not?" and decided to give it a go and like I said I LOVED it.

description

So details time. I found this one to be well written. The pace was spot on. It was pretty much insta-lust but slow burn in the sexytimes department (no intercourse until 65% in I believe). It was sweet. It had adorable hero-kid interactions. Not much angst. A TINY bit of OW drama (not caused by a former hookup). A TINY bit of OM drama (her ex). It had some interesting secondary characters. A super adorable kid. An extremely likable hero. A former manwhore that had been celibate for a month before meeting the heroine. Bonus...his former manwhore past isn't really brought up much. A very likable heroine. I did want to smack her a couple of times, but overall she was a great character. All wrapped up in a pair of cherry on the top epilogues. The twenty years in the future one made me laugh my butt off.

Two thumbs up from yours truly! P.S...of course I had to use spermies in my graphics...duh. *lol*description

When I saw this one up for review I wasn't sure what I was in for. I've read this author's 'That Man' series which I enjoyed so I thought, why not?
After reading the prologue and first chapter I was like:

 photo horribledecision_zpsm8dgsz3c.gif

Dee is a single mum starting a new life in LA with her little girl Tyler, she finds herself a temp job as secretary to Drake or as she puts it 'the sex god'.

Not going to lie Drake comes off as a manwhore arrogant prick at first which was why I was going to put the book down. Drake talks about what a fine specimen he is and that's why he visits the 'spank bank' a couple of times a week through college, thinking he was doing the world a favour by spreading his seed.

 photo kingsperm_zpsmvqrzbm5.gif

I was happy when I continued and he had changed enough to make me like him but still kept enough of the cocky attitude to keep the book fun. The big 'twist' was obvious throughout but it was fun to catch all the clues as I read.

This was a fun read with a dash of drama, the characters were strong and well written. Tyler Dee's daughter was the star, it's not often I read a book that has a child with such a big role in the story it tugged at my mummy strings a bit.

I don't usually like super sweet but I liked it in this one, I think the little addition of some drama helped. I got so much more than I was expecting with this read and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a sweet romance.

Excerpt

Drake

My eyes stayed on Dee as she returned to the kitchen. She was trying to play it cool, but she was on fire. I just knew it from the way she played with her food and kept drinking her wine. And from those little blushes. After our conversation, I found myself even more wildly attracted to her.

I liked the fact that she wasn’t stuck up or material.

I liked the fact that she was both honest and humble.

I liked the fact that she was a fighter and a survivor.

I liked the fact that she was funny and caring. Her laugh was adorable like the rest of her. And she made me laugh too.

Yup, I liked a lot of things about my temp, even the fact that she could cook like America’s Top Chef, but I loved the fact that she totally turned me on. I craved more of her like a little kid craved more candy. She was irresistibly delicious. And not good for me. The warning sign was there in bright neon—Steer Clear!—but I found myself not heeding it. Why was it men wanted more of what they couldn’t have? Fuck. She wasn’t even available. My chest clenched as I fought the urge to follow her into the kitchen and bend her over the counter.

“You’re going to love this.” Dee’s bright voice cut my mental ramblings short. My eyes instantly darted in her direction. She was heading my way with two sundae glasses piled high with whip cream. Long spoons stood up from the glasses.

“Shit. Is that what I think it is?” My mouth was watering as she set one of the fluted glasses in front of me. She sat down again in her spot and placed the other glass on her placemat.

“Uh-huh, it’s a hot fudge sundae. Tyson loves them.”

I immediately dug in and put a heaping teaspoon of the creamy vanilla ice cream, warm rich fudge, and fluffy whipped cream into my mouth. I moaned as I swallowed. “Jesus, Dee, this is sinfully good! I haven’t had one since I was a kid.”

“Your mother made them for you?”

“Hell no. My nanny Blanca did. She made them just the way you do. I fucking loved them.” I ingested another big spoonful. “You’re going to kill me.”

She laughed. The cutest, sexiest laugh. “Don’t die on me. I’ve had enough drama for one night.”

I laughed too. That was a fact.

Dee dug into her sundae. My eyes stayed fixed on her as she put an equally heaping teaspoon to her mouth. A sexy little “mmm” spilled out as she savored the delectable desert. It was so refreshing to be with a real woman who had a healthy appetite and didn’t pick at lettuce leaves or call a blueberry dessert. A little bit of the whip cream stayed behind on her kissable lips. My cock flexed as she licked it off with her tongue. She had no clue how fucking sexy she was and that’s what made her sexier. My deviant mind wandered to all the places I could lick whip cream off from her. Her pussy was one of them. My cock twitched at the delicious thought.

“Do you want my cherry?” she asked, giving me a jolt. What kind of loaded question was that? Oh God, Lord of the Boners! I wanted to eat her pussy, oh pretty please with a cherry on top.

“You don’t want it?” I managed, almost choking on my words.

“Uh-uh. I don’t like them. I just put it on to make the sundae look pretty. Tyson loves them. She once ate a whole jar of them.”

“A girl after my own heart. I did that once, too, when I was her age.”

“So, you want it?” she asked again, already dangling the bright red candied fruit in front of me by its stem.

What a fucking tease! With a boner raging under my jeans, I snagged it out of her fingers with my mouth and sucked it, squeezing out the juice. I had the burning desire to kiss her, to share the sweetness, and to taste hers. It took all I had not to pull her into my arms and devour her. I wasn’t getting kudos from any little voice in my head or from my throbbing cock. I went back to the sundae and consumed it until there wasn’t a drop to be had.

“Should we listen to the auditions now?” Her voice was hesitant.

“It can wait till Monday.” The truth is I didn’t even bring them along.

She shifted uncomfortably. “Well then, I guess it’s time to call it a night.”

A short stretch of silence followed until I broke it. “Dee, I don’t think you should stay here alone tonight. It’s too risky. The asshole may come back.”

She weighed my words. “What are you trying to say? That I should check into some hotel?

Or come home with me. The thought of her all naked in my bed sent my cock into a tailspin. Before I could respond, she continued.

“I don’t think so. I need to be here for Tyson when she comes home in the morning.”

“Then let me stay here.”

“You can’t. One bedroom belongs to my sister who will likely be home later; the other is mine. Tyson shares it with me.”

“I’ll sleep on the couch. C’mon, think about it. I won’t come near you.” I paused for a beat. “Unless you beg.”

She flushed and then flung one word at me: “Fine.”

In no time, I was stretched out on the couch, my eyes closed with dirty dreams ahead.

Drake's never really wanted to do anything with kids until his sweet, feisty with killer curves assistant walks into his life and he realizes she has a kid of her own. I thought, hey he might learn to like them if he decides to have more than a one night with her.

But Dee knows that you should never mix business with pleasure but her boss is making that really hard, no pun intended, for her. She knows there's a lot at risk and that will not only affect her but her daughters.

“Sometimes, you have to rub, not dab,” he breathed against my neck. Rubadubdub. I was coming apart.

Drake's personality was sweet, charming, naughty and just deliciously sexy and I see why Dee was having a hard time to do what was right.

“You horny little girl. That’s not the way I want to f*ck you. No quick in-and-outers tonight. I’m going to f*ck you like there’s no tomorrow.”

I thought I knew how this story would go but Ms L'Amour threw come curveballs in there that I was not expecting. I kept asking myself, how will this and that be connected? Can it be that ...... I had a lot of questions and scenarios popping in my head but the closer I got to the end then I started pulling the pieces together and BAM...there it was!

Be prepared for Drake to dig himself in your heart and panties. ;-) ~Kara, 4.5 Stars

Hero may have hundreds of kids running around because he used to sell his sperm! Supposedly that's the number of kids he's thinking (it might be a lot less) Like the blurb states, I knew what this book was about so no I can't blame anyone but ME.

And SURPRISE SURPRISE!!! this OW is

It's been a while since I've read a Nelle L'Amour book and the premise of Baby Daddy sounded light and fun.

"Wank, bank, and go!"

It seems I'm in the minority with my rating as this falls into the average category. Drake and Dee were likeable enough but, in the vast sea of romance, they were pretty commonplace: he the charmed, wealthy ladies man, she the independent devoted single mum, and together they do bring some banter on the build up to the steamy stuff. But overall, the aspects of the story that held this together for me came courtesy of Dee's daughter, Tyson who was very sweet with her honesty and insightfulness.

Nelle L'Amour knows how to bring her reader a dirty-talking alpha man with a softer side and Drake is that, however I wouldn't categorise this as a rom-com, the drama elements and conflict were resolved too quickly and easily lacking the depth I was hoping for, and I don't like humour being attempted at the expense of a marginalised group: no matter what the context, "I could have made some transgender joke", is unnecessary.

There's no denying it's steamy, but unfortunately on this occasion Baby Daddy didn't work for me as it has for other readers.

Oh. My. God! This new standalone by one of my favorite authors was witty, crazy and oh so steamy! Nelle L’Amour has done it again! She has the ability to make me laugh, cry, swoon, get all hot and bothered and always… I mean always… fall in love with her characters.

So what if the guy donated his sperm while he was in college? So what if the guy might be a baby daddy to hundreds of kids? None of it matters because Drake Hanson is one of the most lovable, endearing book boyfriends… ever. I loved reading Drake’s transformation throughout the book: from being a non-kid friendly bachelor to a guy who falls in love with a single mom and her little girl, Tyson. SWOON!

Drama is always expected in a Nelle L’Amour book and this delivers. There was a bit of suspense and I found myself wondering, “Is he or isn’t he?” until the last few pages of the book. Ms. L’Amour’s books are always well written. There’s a reason behind every action, every word, and the nuances are exceptional. She could write two words and those two words would make me crack up. Seriously.

If you’re in the mood for a Rom-Com that’s completely different, witty, laugh out loud funny and includes a bit of drama and suspense, look no further. Baby Daddy was a fun, romantic and entertaining story that I absolutely enjoyed reading! Bravo, Ms. L’Amour, bravo!

Nelle, you have done it again!! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I got lost in the characters, and Tyson was a little gem. I swear I feel like I'm in the story with your characters, or watching a movie play in my head. But, your writing has always done that for me.

Meet Drake: He is sexy, and this man knows that god gifted him with a huge cock to please. He is working hard for his fathers company, and a playboy. He's got a great sense of humor, and I've completely fallen for him.

Meet Dee: She a spunky little thing. Smart as a whip, and an artist. She is a mother of an adorable little girl that is going to steal your heart. She just moved to L.A. to make a better living for her and her daughter. She has a past, and we all know sometimes we aren't proud of what we do.

Their journey is so fun. You have Drake who is literally afraid of kids, but yet he can't stay away from these two. I love that we see their relationship bloom from friends, to friends with benefits, then holy crap I think I like you. LOL!! But, when you think everything will be fine, something always has pop up and ruin it.
Now let's talk about Ty, this little girl was my favorite!! She is so freaking cute, and when Drake and her hang out, she puts him under her spell. Those were my favorite moments in this book.

And let's not forget about some of our favorite past characters pop in, and you are going to love it. I have a favorite scene at a park, and you'll know what I am talking about when you get there!!!

I hope you love this story as much as I do!! I really want more of them!

Provided an ARC for an honest review!! No spoilers!!

I ABSOLUTELY love all of Nelle L'Amour's books!! She is one of my top go to writers!! Her books always have everything I'm looking for her!! And, she never disappoints!! This book didn't either that's for sure!! I love that a lot of characters from previous books are in all her books. Even though it may just be a short tiny mention I still love it!! I always fall in love with characters and hate when the stories end. So it's nice to get a little update =)

I loved how whitty this book was! It definitely kept me engaged!! It was an easy little read that hooked. I loved it from start to end!! Some twists and turns throughout but I kinda saw them coming but I enjoyed the story line none the less. The characters were easily loveable and everyone could easily connect to them!! It was definitely a MUST read for me!! I can't wait for what comes next!! I kinda wish it wouldn't of ended and we could of gotten another book about them =)

Review:
Baby Daddy by Nelle L’Amour is another laugh out loud romantic comedy by one of my favorite authors. Although this book is funny, make sure that you have a box of tissues on hand. Also, expect some devious actions to give this story some pure angst. This story takes place in Los Angeles, California. Drake Hanson has lived a charmed life. He has always been able to play by his own rules. While in college, his father demanded that he get a part time job for his spending money to teach him responsibility. Taking the lazy, easy way out, Drake made contributions to the local sperm bank earning $1,500 a month. Now he regrets his actions. How many children does he have out there? Is Donor 5262 going to get hit up for child support for every child that he helped create? His father is in negotiations to sell his animation company. One of the stipulations is that Drake stays on to run the company. The buyer has his own set of stipulations. The main one is that Drake changes his Playboy ways. When Drake meets his new temporary assistant, he feels a calming effect. He also feels something else. The urge to take her over his desk as well as a few other places. There is just something about her, but she is an employee and that is a line that he doesn’t want to cross. Making matters worse she has a kid. Dee is starting a new chapter in her life. She will be starting a new job teaching art in September. The temporary job as Drake’s assistant will keep her afloat until then, but Drake is a temptation that may interfere with her plans. She still has a husband who won't give her a divorce. Drake is also way out of her league. The chemistry between Drake and Dee is amazing. Dee’s little girl just about steals the show. The pacing is pretty fast. I don't think that this author has written a book that I was able to put down before I finished it. I loved the happy ever after ending, but I think what I really enjoyed the most was how favorite characters from other books made appearances throughout the story. Even though this is a stand-alone book, there is a tie in with other series written by this author. Strong character development is given to both of the main characters as well as the secondary characters. This is a story well worth getting lost in.

This is the first book I have read by this author , and I really enjoyed it. I really loved all the characters Tyson being my favorite. Deandrea (Dee)is hired as temp working for Drake who works for an animation company owned and founded by his father. He is instantly attracted to her and cant get her outta his head.Dee is married and has a little girl named Tyson who is her everything. Drake hates kids, but has an instant connection with Tyson. These three start spending all their time together, but Dee knows she is not good enough for Drake especially with all the baggage she is carrying .
This books nick name should be everything and the kitchen sink, by the time one situation ended two more where going on, it was A Lot of crazy scenarios that got thrown at them. It was a very busy busy read. I read this voluntarily as an ARC for an honest review.

Wow! This was such a great read. Drake is a playboy sperm donor who doesn't think he ever wants kids and Dee's a single mom with some secrets. Dee's first day as Drake's new temp is definitely an interesting one. I don't know if I've ever laughed so hard. The more time they spend together the more Drake thinks that maybe what he wanted out of life wasn't actually what he wants anymore. Maybe he actually does want a family. And don't forget about Ty. She's such a sweet and lovable little girl. I think Drake falls in love with her almost instantly. But with Dee's past getting in the way, can it be possible? And will Drake's past eventually catch up to him? You'll have to read and find out. I don't want to give too much away. The expert speaks for itself. This is definitely a hilarious and romantic read with just the right amount of drama and a little bit of suspense. Definitely a must read. Loved it!

It was.... very very good, multiple POV all to make a better enjoyment.
Fun indeed, drama was there, twist : oh yes and good ending : definitely.
It was an awesome read with a great length.
So baby daddy was really about a man/dude being a dad and all the step to that point.
And steamy, yes, not too much, just enough but I still skipped a bit.

Drake Hanson LOVES to sleep with any woman he finds attractive. With his strikingly handsome looks, he's never short of an offer.

Back when Drake was a teenager his dad made him find a job and what better job for Drake than a job where all he needs to do is wank. A job that entitles him to wank, Bank and go.

When his dad announces he'll be taking over the company when he retires Drake is filled with dread when that entitles him to be married and with a kid, a family oriented man but there's one HUGE flaw in all of this Drake HATES kids, they creep him out and he's constantly worried that one of those could turn out to be his.

As bring your child to work days comes along Drake finds himself in his office covered in spew from a little ginger kid but his day instantly becomes better when his new temp walks in.

Will Drake be able to settle his player ways? Will his new temp show him everything he's missing and more or will he revert back to what he knows best?

Wow, what an interesting and exciting story from the lovely Nelle. I was hooked from the get go and couldn't put it down. It reminded me of the movie Delivery Man (starring Vince Vaughn) but it was so much MORE and the storyline was much more fun and fascinating.

Drake's character was sexy as hell, he's cocky and a little arrogant at times but you just can't help but love him. He knows he's hot and so does everyone else but as soon as it comes to family he's the most loving and loyal man one could possibly want.

Dee was an amazing character, after suffering what she had to go through she stays strong and determined to make life for her and the one she loves better. She's fiercely protective and it's beautiful to read about.

Nelle L'Amor did an amazing job with this beauty, it's fun and full of beautiful scenes and romance but emotional, there's parts where I had to stop to wipe my eyes as they started leaking LOL the emotion it pulled from me was insane. Baby Daddy deserves all the stars and more, so much more!

I absolutely loved this book. The story line was different and intriguing. Nelle L' Amour knows how to write stories with very hot sex, enough suspense to keep you turning the pages and great characters. Dee is strong, intelligent, and will do anything to protect her daughter. Drake is arrogant, has a secret past and is very caring. Nelle L' Amour does a great job of writing secondary characters that are funny and I want to get to know better. She also writes really good bad guys that are creepy and violent. She did a really good job of writing from both Dee's and Drake's points of view. I felt I got to know both people. I read this book back in January, I got the ARC edition and reread. I loved it a second time just as much as the first time. I laughed a lot in this book but I also cried. Nelle L' Amour did surprise me by writing from Tyson's point of view at the end and I loved it. I'm hoping that maybe there is a Tyson book to come. In my opinion if you are a fan of Nelle L' Amour she did not disappoint. Loved that she referenced past characters from other books. I recommend this book, in my opinion it's worth reading. I received an ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review.

Looking at the reviews already posted I guess I am the minority and unpopular opinion.

I found this book is easily forgettable and the main characters largely unoriginal.

This book feels like it was written with a template. I just did not connect with either the story or the characters. It all felt forced and disjointed.

This book is an instalove with a fast paced story.

Drake is your average rich guy, player type. The only rules he sets himself are;
Never sleep with a co-worker
Never sleep with someone married
And never ever sleep with someone with a child.

That all changes when he meets his temp Dee. The minute he sees her all bets are off and he just has to have her.

Dee has been through alot, and still is. Getting a temp job until she starts work as an art teacher leads her down paths that will eventually change her life....and also the life of her daughter.

At first i didnt know what to make of Drake he came across as arrogant and not really a nice guy, but once i got to know him i found that this is mainly just an act he puts on for the outside world. The man is all alpha theres no mistake about that but he also has a sweet side and that really shines through when he is with Tyson, Dee's daughter.

Dee, my poor heart broke to hear what she had gone through, what she put up with just to feel a little bit of love. She is as sassy as she is sweet which makes for a great character the only gripe i had with her is she kept pushing Drake away instead of dealing with things.

Overall im giving this book 3.5. I loved Tyson she made me laugh a whole lot and i loved how close she was to her mam. The twist i did see coming, but i was glad it worked out that way. What makes me give it a 3.5 instead of a 4 is that i feel the connection between Dee and Drake could of been stronger i feel like i never really felt the depth of their love and i would of liked too have felt that connection.

Baby Zaddy!!'

Once again I've been given the privilege of receiving an ARC for an honest review.

Baby Daddy is Nelle L'amour latest book that's goes live on May 15. I'm a BIG Fan of Nelle's writing and once again I wasn't disappointed.

When I got the book I was excited, and I couldn't wait to start it, however because I just started another book it was hard for me to getting to the story, nothing was sticking. So the right the thing to do was finish my previous book before getting into this one. So note to all, when reading this Baby Daddy, please give it your undivided attention, I promise you won't be sorry. Once I truly did that, I couldn't put the book down! Let me tell you! Sleep would be clawing at me, and I refuse to give in, that's how good the book is!

Nelle's books always stood apart from most authors to me, because she tends to give happily ever after a new spin. She always brings back characters from her old books, that makes you so curious that you will want to read all she has written. So yeah go read all her books!

Okay, I've babbled a bit, now for the fun stuff. Baby Daddy (Zaddy)is so good, it's full of drama, suspense, laughter, trials, and a sliver lining at the end, because duh it's a Nelle's book. And I say Zaddy because ole sugar on stick Drake is Zaddy material! (A Zaddy is a "handsome" guy who is very appealing and looks really fashionable. He has to have swag and sex appeal and look sexy and attractive. And bomb.com in the sheets)

The charters were so refreshing, you will swoon for the hero, fight with the heroine and sing "If you happy and you know it" for the mighty little princess who will steal your heart at first appearance.

I love everything about this book, I laugh, I swoon at the smexy scenes, and I cried for each charters. This book has twist and turns you never saw coming. I highly recommend this book to all. I promise you won't regret it .... so what are you waiting for to get it!!!

Just coming off of my first read from Nelle L’amour, The Big O, I was expecting another light, fun, fluffy book. With a title of Baby Daddy, I figured this would for sure fit the bill.

We start with Drake Hanson, who is in college, and making bank being Donor 5262. When Drake finally grows up, he is absolutely paranoid about the thought of what he has done and children in general. Relationships are a no-no for Drake until Dee walks in his office.

Dee Walker is a single mom who is about to change the life of Drake. Dee knows not to mix business with pleasure and she is not willing to risk her job for a quickie with Drake. However, Drake is not giving in and Dee is in for one hell of a ride!

Baby Daddy was a cute, fun read with some angst thrown in for good measure. Coming off of The Big O which the couple was having sex right away, this was a nice change of pace to see the man actually have to work for it. I like how the relationship between Dee and Drake began and how it included Tyson, Dee’s daughter, from the very beginning. I fell in love with Tyson, aka Mighty Girl!

Drake Dee and Tyson
This book started out a little slow for me, I wasnt sure where they were going with it. Then when we meet Dee and her Daughter Tyson it really starts to flow. Drake starts to open up. We see a loving caring side of him with fatherly instincts I am sure even he didnt think he possessed. The way he was with Tyson from the start was a little scary lol not in a bad way but because going from the player, never wants to settle down to taking Tyson out for her birthday and tucking her into bed. Dee has not had an easy life. Her husband Kyle is abusive and was doing time in prison. She grew up with nothing and a mother who I am not sure actually loved her or her sister. Nelle does a good job of waiting until the end of the book for all things to fall into place. I have to say that once we met Kyle I was confused on how things happened lol

Let's see

3.7 stars

Honestly I loved the first part of this book by this author. The first part was free so I was happy to pick up the rest of the book. I by passed the first ten chapters because I had already read them but as I was reading the book so many errors came into play that even though the story was amazing the errors beat out.

I normally overlook them but with this book they were plenty that just popped out at me. I did finish the book though and the journey was amazing so with that said if you can put all that aside go read this amazing journey.

Happy Sexy Reading

I think by halfway through the book I knew that the guy was the father. Just the little clues alone gave it away
