4 Am Conversations by Ayushee Ghoshal, an collection of poems and Nano tales. All the poems and short tales conveyed one thing which glued me till the last, author's hidden world with nostalgic feelings and emotions of a broken heart. It includes the pain and sufferings like hopelessness, loneliness and little hope which states that my love still existed in his heart.
The book has been divided into 9 parts:
A Fistful Of Love A World Of Almosts A Silent Madness An Irreparable Memoir Losing A Muse 4 AM Conversations With The Ghost Of Old Lovers A Brief Affair With Time A Game Of Silence What The Poets Never Told You
All the parts are unique, some states love, some pin pointed the regret of life and pain. The medium used to convey can easily connect with the title "4 am conversations... With the ghosts of old lovers" its looks same as how a person be like after an failure of life. The author makes me to reread some of the poems again even after finishing it. The simple and comprehensible language, no fancy words yet it delivers reality, heart touching ones.
As author says in blurb, "Poetry written for the love that got away and also for you." Its completely apt she justified the sentence by connecting the hidden feelings of modern day lovers.
All together it's a beautiful compilation for romance readers.
It is said you connect with words on a different level when you have been hit by those verbose somewhere. You want to drink down those verses as a reminder of similar melancholy. Ayushee's book did the same to me. Have never been more honest in writing down any review than this. Such a beautiful poetic craftsmanship that takes you to a different world. Her world. Her broken world where everything is gloomy with traces of love that once was there. You try to find yourself in her words. Between the lines. There were times when I cried. I stared at the black lines and went blank. There is so much of emotional catastrophe in her poems that you just cannot read and keep the book down. You just cannot do that. You read, think, relate, and cry. A magnificent imagery and what I liked the most about her work is that she never for once left the one emotion that is central to the book. The hopeless love and its loss. Remnants of a love found and lost are scattered all over the book. Divided into sections, the poem flows smoothly delving into various phases of love. Unrequited love, to be more precise. It would be such an understatement to say that I loved the book. I lived the book. And i will be reading it very frequently, because every line is so surreal that it is a bliss to read them again and again. Thank you for this book, Ayushee.
4 AM Conversations with the ghosts of old lovers is a collection of poems and mini-tales by Ayushee Ghoshal. The book is divided into nine sections. Each section holds different theme and different emotions. The theme is so appealing that you will have an urge to next part as soon as possible. Every poem is knitted in a beautiful language and with beautiful emotions. After reading few poems I was sure that these poems are worth reading. The short quotes used between poems are so beautiful and meaningful that I read them several times just to make sure I am savoring each and every word of them.
“You and I Again and again Always almost Never enough”
“I taste eternity and I dwindle between dreams and reality.”
My favorite part of the book was PART VI – 4 AM CONVERSATIONS WITH THE GHOSTS OF OLD LOVERS and I love many poems like INSOMNIA, NEVER GONE, SURVIVAL, but the best was THREE JANUARY LETTERS. This book was a good time – pass for me and it never allowed me to get bored. Each and every poem holds a deep meaning like a broken soul wants everyone to read her story. The narration is perfect with excellent use of words and everyone will be able to read this beautiful poetry book in one go over a cup of coffee. The cover is also really eye – catching with a beer glass and a clock hanging over a cigarette with a black background. 4 AM Conversations, the title also suits the theme of the book because most of the poetic phrases are formed during this time. This is the time for poets to create magic. So I will give this book a whole 5 stars.
Some of the poems are short, while some are long and also have collection of nanotales. The depiction is simple yet lucid. Further, some of the poems are in verse form while some are expressed in rythmical representation. Not only this, you can feel the characters in the poems hovering in your head. I could feel a lost friend.. I even shed fresh tears for the loss of love. The dedications have been beautiful. The author has done full justice to this poetry book by adding sense of horror and eeriness in it.

A VOICE CERTAIN TO DISTURB YOU: 4 AM CONVERSATIONS BY AYUSHEE GHOSHAL
Ghosts are usually believed to haunt in the midnight but the ghosts of Ayushee Ghoshal are sure to haunt you at 4 a.m., supposedly, these are different kinds. Keeping to the blurb of the poetry collection titled, “4 AM CONVERSATIONS” Ayushee’s poetry is about the love that got away. It is a collection for all those who forget to love the lover one is meant to love.
A compilation of poems, 4 AM Conversations is an interesting read for the lovers of the verse. A detailed pointwise review of the book is as follows : -
1. Storytelling - Being a storyteller herself, the author has told stories in each of her poems. Be it a short poem or a long one, it will tell a story which the reader can most certainly relate to.
2. Variety of poetic delicacies - The Author has not restricted herself to one single form of poetry. The reader will find a wide variety of poetic presentations in here. Ranging from free-verse to couplets, the author has successfully experimented with different forms of verses. This keeps makes the book intriguing and keeps the reader glued to it.
3. Metaphors and Symbolism - Every poet and reader may not accept this, but for me, poetry should be layered and filled with metaphors; only then can I really appreciate it. The Author of this book has made such beautiful use of highly relatable metaphors that the reader's mind imagining stuff while reading her poetry as it may be while reading immersive fiction.
4. Well arranged - The most important part in creating a compilation of poetry is to arrange the poems in a manner that the reader does not experience the rut of feeling the same emotions again and again. The Author has compiled this book so well that the reader is set on an emotional ride with comfortable yet exciting ups and downs, thereby avoiding stagnancy in the reader's mind.
5. Sensuality in the most innocent form - The Author has been successful in presenting sensuality, in all the sensual poems in this compilation, with such expertise that regardless of the acts being described, the images and emotions created in a reader's mind and heart respectively are plain innocent and filled with true and unadulterated love.
6. Less words more meaning - The author is very well equipped with vocabulary and has a great sense of using the perfect words at the perfect place. Many of her poems speak a thousand words in the subtext while the written words make less than four lines of poetry.
Why Did I give only 4 starts?
1. Melancholy Dominates - The book seems to be inclined towards melancholy. Although it is not wrong, it did make it difficult for me to read the book at a stretch.
2. Vocabulary - Although the Author has a keen sense of words, there are certain poems where the words used are little too complex even though appropriate. This, at times, distracted me from the subtler meaning of the poetry and made me focus more on the contextual meaning of those complex words.
All in all, the book is a highly immersive compilation of poems which should be read slowly, one poem a day or so. A rumination on the poetry will certainly open up your mind to deeper meanings hidden within it. The poems would also teach you a thing or two about your own mistakes, without boring you, if you read it with a third person perspective.
Let's start off with the cover - black, denoting the lost love and blowing out all the pain into the ashes. We all get into such habits in disdain. The title goes so very well with the book.
The book is divided into 9 different parts- each beautifully written with so much emotions and pain.

This was a really good read. I breezed through the book in about 45 minutes and the poetry, and all the passages stay with you long after you have been through the pages. It talks about pain. It talks about cities. It talks about hope. But importantly, it talks about love. Very well written!
Sometime words are not enough to express your feelings. But the author so beautifully weaved our feelings in words that I really can't express. At some point I couldn't stop my tears. She knows the pain of a broken heart and the phase people go through after break ups. Yes, it's a soul touching book in one word.

The poems and the stories are centred on varying themes such as yearning for a lost lover, knowing when to hold on and when to give up, understanding how sometimes all you need is to let go, loving yourself and hope. The themes will appeal to everyone.
The themes keep on alternating which made it an interesting mix of poems and stories. The placement of text in particular parts of the pages made the reading process more delightful for me. The vocabulary is simple yet it does not fail to convey the feelings and emotions of the author. The tone is melancholic yet hopeful. The content flows smoothly throughout the poems.
For me, the reading process was loaded with many emotions. Initially, I was a little suspicious about the book but after reading the first two pages, I was certain I was in for an emotional roller coaster ride. I liked stories more than the poems. My favourite stories are Lessons in Forgetting and The Girl she used to be.
Leaving you with my favourite quote: Let hope break you. And then allow hopelessness To set you free.
“Perhaps there is nothing as destructive as waiting for the unattainable without any hope.”
