I never thought I’d fall for the billionaire, but his cool-blue eyes and sexy swagger drew me to him like a moth to a flame. Okay, inferno.
He was my first and so far, had been my last—my only.
Once I found out I’d been played, I high tailed it out of there and moved as far away as I could. He didn’t need to know. I didn’t need him, or his money.
Jerk.
Not only did he take my virginity, break my heart and stomp all over it, he gave me a baby as well.
How could I be so stupid?
And why the hell did he just walk into my office and tell me he now owns the posh resort I work at?
I fell for the billionaire once—this time will be different.
I got this book as a free one....glad it was free or I would have been pissed if I had wasted money on this. Before I start my rant, let me say that I think that the book itself was well written.....I just loathed one of the main characters.
Ok, so Abby and Roc are together briefly 4 years ago, before his fiancee, Eve introduces herself at a party. Yes, cue the crickets chirping. So Abby leaves, as she should, because does any woman want to be the mistress of the man they love? Uh, no is the answer to that. So she leaves her first love (and yes she wasted her first time on him too) and finds out she's pregnant.
Fast forward 4 years and asshat aka Roc finds her. He buys the hotel she manages, so that he can get his revenge on her for leaving him...because you know he's an adult and not a self centered arrogant asshat. Anyway, throughout the book he finds ways to humiliate her and pretty much be himself. I know she gives in a few times because he was her first and only and she still loves him (I have no idea why either, but first loves are never rational or logical). She stays fairly strong against him and holds her own, especially for being a young single mother. Loved her Aunt Mel, she puts asshat in his place every time.
Even after he finds out why she left him, he never actually apologizes or says who the hell Eve was. Just that she messed everything up....so was he engaged or not? Yeah, I have no idea either. He doesn't quit being an asshat until about 93% in and then they are getting an hfn at 97%. WTF, and we still have no idea if he had been engaged the first time or not. Oh and there is an Uncle Asshat and 2 dumb asshat brothers. I am sure someone will like his character....but that someone is definitely not me.
I read the younger brother's book before this one and like this author's style. But I didn't like this character, he's a spoiled brat. Did he deserve a second chance? you decide. There was a serious lack of communication from both these characters, but I guess there's no story line without that if they got it right the first time. There's drama, romance and a HEA but I think I seriously want to slap that man.
This second chance, surprise baby romance was adorable. It was sexy, easy to read and a great book to just lay back and relax.
I expected more groveling from the hero and there were moments when they seemed to feel more resentment than love for each other, but it was a good read. I’ll definitely read this author again.
A good quick read. The end is a little too rush, but generally good. You were in love and thought he loves you back, and then his fiancee shows up. What do you do?! Get your things and get the hell out of there ( without asking him and explanation!). Three months later you found you are pregnant. You start over, life is good you live in paradise ( yes you live in Puerto Rico, nothing better than that I asure you!), you have a good job as a hotel manager and then someone buys the hotel you work. Who is the new owner? Thats right, you know it. The man who broke your heart.
This was a quick read that I thought was great. Abby is a strong woman that was not going to let a rich man use, abuse, or make her his mistress, even after she found out she was carrying his child. She didn’t need him and she sure as hell didn’t need his money. Roc never understood why the woman he loved just up and left in the middle of a party. It took him years to track her down and buy the hotel she managed so he could get revenge for hurting him. If only he could let go of the feelings that he feels when she is around. When he finds out that she has a daughter he is furious at first and even more mad when he does that math and figures out he has missed out on three years of his child's life. These two are so in love with each other but too stubborn to realize that that they need to stop trying to hurt each other and sit down and talk. You have to keep reading to see if Abby and Roc get over their insecurities and find happiness for themselves and their daughter.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
A very well written quick read and sweet story. It is about Abby and Roc who was in a relationship 4 years ago. Roc was Abbys first. They ended very badly because of one of Rocs former girlfriends. After 4 years they meet again because Roc has bought the resort where Abby works. You have to buy the book to read what happens next. The characters are well described and I loved Roc and Aunt Melanie. Abby was a very big turn off for me. She is as stubborn as it gets. She does not listen to what people say to her. She does not communicate very well with Roc. Roc is not an angel but he tries to get to Abby, but she keeps running. It is a predictable story, well written and has lots of chemistry and some hot scenes. I would have loved the ending to have been a bit less rushed. I liked that it is written in dual POV. It would have been a five-star if it had got a bit more depth and a less rushed ending.
I voluntarily read & reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
When Abigail Blakely thought she was betrayed by her lover/boss, billionaire hotelier Roc Mahoney, she ran away without a word to the man who broke her heart. Returning to her home state and her Aunt Melanie was not enough to escape her thoughts and hurt she decided to run farther, all the way to Puerto Rico. Four years later Abby is now a successful resort manager and a single mother to Lily, a four year old blonde beauty who shares the same blue eyes as the man who still haunts her mind and heart. The same man who unexpectedly appears in her office one day with eyes full of anger and revenge and informs her that he is the new owner of the resort she manages.
Both parties still harbor hurt from their past relationship. However neither understands things were not what they had seemed. When the truth comes out they have to decide if they will move on to the future together or if past mistakes were too large to move beyond.

4.5 stars This was an excellent contemporary billionaire romance. Roc was a billionaire use to people catering to his whims and demands. When he found where a girl He use to like worked, as a manager, he bought the hotel with the intent of payback. Abby worked hard in hospitality management and was respected as well as liked by other employees. Upon meeting the new owner her world fell off its axis for the second time in four years. The flair the author uses keeps readers entertained and understanding both main characters points of view. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. Hopefully, the author will continue and make a series about Roc's brothers and uncle. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
I got this when it was free on Amazon, it's a typical contemporary billionaire romance. Roc and Abbey were supposedly in love but Abbey runs away when a biatch gets in her face... why she ran without giving Roc a chance to explain, I guess was a given otherwise we wouldn't have a story.
Now 4 years later Roc has bought the resort Abbey manages and is planning on exacting his revenge for her leaving him.
its a typical trope with lots of miscommunication and angst with a bit of a turnaround ending for a HEA.
It was ok but nothing out of the ordinary and a few typos that should have been spotted by any beta reader or editor.
Roc Hard by KB Winters •2nd Chances I enjoyed reading roc and Abbey's story. It shows how some people don't think about how their actions will hurt someone else. Especially someone you care for. Some didn't care for Roc, but I thought the story was good and showed that although Abbey has had some tough patches, she's a song woman and can do it on her own, but will she have to? And will Roc stop doing stupid things??? Yeah he's a guy probably not, but you'll have to read Roc Hard to find out! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via the author via bookfunnel for an honest review. Due to sexual situations, this book is recommended for readers 17 and older!

Received this as a Free read. I found Abby & Roc to be such a sweet couple. The storyline was the typical "second chance" read, but it was far from boring. Years ago, misunderstandings and mutual mistrust separated the couple; there were still many issues for them to work out. They did so with much "heat" between them. Some of the descriptions during the sex scenes were a bit much for me. I'm just not a fan of the "C" word AT ALL, and in all honesty...that really ruined those scenes for me; thus the 4 stars from me. Nevertheless, it was a fun, fast, and engaging read.

A well written quick read. although well written there was just too much left out of the story, mainly who the heck was Eve? it seemed like she'd just been thrown in to stir up trouble with no explanation. The "Hero" was a privileged, butt hurt ass who never once properly apologised or explained his behaviour whereas the heroine, despite a couple of weak moments (because who doesn't have them when it comes to our first love) stayed strong and owned her responsibilities and owned her mistakes. all in all not a bad read but I'm glad it was a freebie.
I enjoyed this second chance romance about Roc a man who has money and gets what he wants .....Except Abby , the woman who disappeared and left him without an explanation. This couple had major chemistry ,there was twists , emotion , drama and plenty of secrets . I didn't like the way his brothers just decided to throw out their two cents on their situation top make Abby feel not welcomed.... .they sucked !
Sometimes when we read and review books, it’s really difficult to not give a poor rating when we find certain characters despicable...case in point—Roc. But his character is what makes Roc Hard such an interesting read. We are so busy voting for Abby and Lily while totally dissing Roc that we actually become part of the book. Folks—that’s masterful writing with totally developed characters, and a journey to the HEA that is so acrimonious that you’re not sure it’s gonna happen! Well done, KB!!
This book had potential, but it didn't really deliver for me. I'm not sure if the issue was it was too short to give it the space it needed to develop and the ending was rushed or it just resolved itself in an unsatisfactory way.
The storyline was good. However, Roc was an overgrown vindictive toddler and Abby was ...far too forgiving. I did love aunt Mel!
I usually enjoy books by this author, but unfortunately not this one.
This is one of those books that you read and will not forget for a long time!
The story makes you feel warm and cozy. It is full of romance and drama, even exciting to the point that you can not stop reading since you absolutely want to know if there will be a happy ending! The characters are very well developed.
I enjoyed reading this book, but I felt like things were missing from the story. Did Roc ever tell Abby about Eve? Did these two ever actually talk? How did she forgive him without even knowing what happened? I think it could be a great book if these questions were answered and Roc didn't keep going back and forth.

Got this as a free read. Loved this story. Was so mad at Roc for the way he treated Abby then not telling her about the Woman he hired to replace Abby. Can't blame Abby for leaving on hearing of his fiancée. Roc should of known something was wrong when she showed up and Abby left. He should of gone after her.
5 stars I received a free copy and this review was given freely.
This is a billionaire, island resort, secret baby, second chance at romance novella. Vivid description, protective but interfering family, a cute 3 year old, and multiple misunderstandings bring interest and depth to the story as Roc flounders but ultimately regains the family he always wanted with Abby.
Rec'd this story as an ARC for an honest review for this author. Abby working hard for herself and her daughter, hard as a single mom. Years later after leaving the island where she met her daughters dad, he shows up having purchased the resort, she is working at. Enjoy reading this story, special bond between child and dad, and couple learning to open up, trust again. loved it.
Enjoyed Roc and Abby! Easy enjoyable read. Just enough of all the good things a story needs. Love, misunderstanding, sex and money! What’s not to love.?
This books as others I’ve read show how much communication is needed in any relationship. Once the couple talked they realized they wanted to same things.
This story is nice short and entertaining. There was such tug and war between the two main characters. They cant keep their hands off each other but at the same time they can't stand each other. Will they finally figure out and admit what they truly want? You have to read and see.
Love KB Winter books. This book is a fun, beach read. Wonderful characters who make you.fall in love with them. A hero who makes you want to cheer him on while cringing at his antics. A heroine who only wants to make sure her child is protected. A child who captures everyone's heart along the way. Will live when out?
Couldn't put it down I wanted the story to continue to see if they had more babies just a epilogue I don't like it when books don't have them I feel cheated. But other than that this book was awesome and funny but too much chemistry they couldn't stay away I loved it.
A entertaining read and I liked the concept. I liked Abby but at times she gave in to easily. Roc I'm not sure about. He was nice at times but then he was a real idiot at times. It was just the way he went about things. So overall it was a ok read, not great.
2 1/2 stars. It was free, so good. It started out strong, I liked the storyline and thought it would play out nicely. But basically she hates/loves him and he's a bonehead and then Wham she forgives him in a second.
