Yerad never expected his mate to run seconds after they met, but that’s what fate dealt him. Lenny insists on saying he doesn’t want Yerad. Yerad wants to push for answers, but he’s a liaison agent for the council, and his job is more important than a stubborn man who doesn’t want him.

Lenny never wanted to meet his mate. His parents, the people who should have shielded him from the world, kicked him out, and he doesn’t want to be hurt again. He knows that’s what will eventually happen if he agrees to give Yerad a chance, and that’s why he tells his mate to leave him alone.

Lenny’s resolve weakens as his friends try to convince him to give Yerad a chance. When he finds out Yerad is working with his birth pride, he runs to the rescue, only to find out Yerad doesn’t need him. Will Yerad forgive Lenny for pushing him away? Will Lenny manage to get over his fear of being hurt and give Yerad a chance? Or will fear have the upper hand and ruin their mating?

Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters.
She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back.
She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.

So different: Lenny running away (literally) from Yerad.

No one can avoid the mate link: but it was nice to see a couple having to work at it.
Their similarities in growing up were similar, so this probably helped.

It will be curious what happens to Scott. Will he 'find' a mate?

I don't understand why Elizabeth and her mate could not live in the pride instead of with the nix.

Okay book.

Another book in this series where the mates don't actually mate. I read shifter series for a reason and that's one of the main ones. Maybe the next book while have an actual mating. Other than that, it was an okay book.

One word for this book. Boring. I am getting a bit tired of the whole mate rejection trope. It's okay if the mate doing the rejecting has a valid reason, but let's face it. Lenny is an awful character. If I was Yerad, I would have been the one doing the rejecting. Then there's the fact that the side plot was more interesting then the main plot of the book.

I cannot really recommend this book. It was a struggle to even finish it. The only reason, I did was to find out what happens to the case the Yerad was working on. I'm just glad that a friend lent me her copy and I didn't pay for it.
