Molly Lamb is not the sort of housemate uptight Quinn Marshall is expecting when he takes his former boss up on the offer of a free month at his Cape Cod beach house. Not only does free-spirited Molly shower naked outside, and practice her trumpet at all hours, and encroach on Quinn’s personal space in the most distracting way... she’s the woman who ran out of the church moments before she was due to exchange I-do’s with the boss!
All Quinn wants is a solitary vacation, a few weeks alone with no distractions to examine his options and get his life and career back on track. He doubts he’s ever been more distracted with the boss’s sexy runaway bride sleeping right upstairs. And that’s before the hurricane hits!
A feel-good romantic comedy novella. Originally published as “July” in the anthology Summer Heat.
Pamela Burford comes from a funny family. You may take that any way you want. She was raised in a household that valued laughter above all, so of course the first thing she looked for in a husband was a sense of humor. Is it any wonder their grown kids are into stand-up comedy and improv? Oh, and here's another fun family fact: Pamela's identical twin sister, Patricia Ryan, aka P.B. Ryan, is also a published novelist. Patricia is the Good Twin, and yeah, Pamela knows what that makes her. But hey, Evil Twins have more fun.
It should come as no surprise that everything Pamela writes is infused with her own quirky brand of humor, from her feel-good contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels to her popular Jane Delaney mystery series, featuring snarky “Death Diva” Jane, her canine sidekick Sexy Beast, and a fun love triangle. Pamela's own beloved poodle, Murray, wants you to know that any similarities between himself and neurotic, high-strung Sexy Beast are purely coincidental.

I was drawn into this adorable Opposites Attract romance from the first line... "Quinn Marshall had never seen a naked woman outdoors before."
I fell in love with laid-back Molly Lamb immediately. Of course, she's not perfect, but a wonderful complement to Quinn's workaholic, starched shirt approach to life. He's drawn to her, too, a young woman so free and sweet and gregarious--but when he learns her relationship to his business connections, he justifiably backs off. She's been burned before, so she figures that for the best, but that doesn't prevent her from falling for him anyway. (Who can blame her? In spite of his sometimes gruff attitude and sometimes "stuffy" language, a byproduct of his "stuffy" upbringing, the guy is a total hottie who can cook!)
And watch out, once he realizes the full truth about Molly, he can't keep his hands to himself.
There's a whole lot of story packed into this novella. The characters are fully developed--without being too angsty. THE BOSS'S RUNAWAY BRIDE is the perfect rainy day, beach, or by-the-fireplace read! I Burford's voice is easy on the reader, her sex scenes are hot, and there were a few reader surprises near the end that made me believe there could be an HEA for Molly and Quinn, after all. I closed my Kindle with a great, big smile. Ahhh. :)
I thought this one was perfect for me for a lazy day, quick, fun and entertaining read. A little romance, quite a bit of laughter, and some sexual tension always seems to work for me.
Quinn and Molly meet at a beach house they just happen to be sharing. OK...that sounds delightful, maybe. Add a little twist to it though and it becomes more iffy...Quinn just happens to be Molly's fiance's (the one the "runaway bride" ran from) ex-employee. Quinn tries to keep his hands off and respect that Molly is his ex-boss's fiancee, but he finds that a wee bit too difficult. I think this one could be considered an opposites attract no-brainer but fun read for a summer day.
Quick, light and fun romance with some very steamy scenes and excellent writing.
Quinn meets Molly at a Cape Cod beach house the two are sharing for the month. The fiancé Molly left at the alter is also Quinn's former boss, a powerful ad executive. Not wanting to cross the line between business and pleasure, Quinn attempts to keep his distance. Only Molly's exuberance is contagious and as much as he tries, Quinn can't ignore her, especially when she parades around sans clothes.
Molly's free-spirited personality is the perfect counterpoint to Quinn's rigid one, and when the two get together, fireworks. Hot scenes written with clean romantic prose had me fanning my face.
This is my first book by Pamela Burford and it won't be my last.
Quinn has recently lost his job to what he’s told was a merger. To soften the blow, Quinn’s former boss Phil lets him use his Nantucket summer home for a month. Quinn is surprised when he realizes there’s another summer guest occupying the beach house – Phil’s ex fiancée Molly, who left Phil at the altar mere months prior. Quinn tries his best to avoid Molly, having heard all the horror stories from Phil. However, despite his best efforts, Quinn and Molly soon bond and find they have more in common than they initially thought.
This wasn’t a bad little story. It was super short and an enjoyable read on a rainy Sunday morning. I enjoyed Molly’s character – she reminded me of Marilyn Monroe – who had more than just beauty going for her.
The ending was predictable, yet satisfying. The author’s writing is engaging - there isn’t a lot of “fluff” to weigh things down. It’s sometimes difficult to write a good novella, since a complete story can be hard to write in so few words, but Ms. Burford does a great job. There’s explicit sex in this book, so readers who might take offense should be aware. Overall, this was not a bad way to spend a rainy Sunday.
An uptight, thinks he knows it all, color-in-the-lines hero and his seemingly ditsy, free-spirited door mat heroine make up this funny fast moving novella. But of course, each has a lesson to learn and develops accordingly. With lots of fun situations, conflict, undeniable attraction and heat, all comes right in the end, with a little poetic justice thrown in for good measure.
This novella is currently free on Amazon and iBooks.
The story very magnificently and hilariously highlights the theme of love throughout the book. The plot of the book is so engaging that it will compel all the readers to keep on flipping the pages of the book until the reader finally reaches the end and passes on a smirk. It has a very captivating plot with magnificent characters.
From a free spirit to a caring woman and an uptight corporate type to a caring man, what a journey. A cute read about the trip from being jilted at the altar to finding your strength. And changing from only a career minded guy to a human being. First finding your center, then courage. Well worth reading.
The journey the characters went through to find themselves and to actually accept the chemistry between them was touching. I felt their pain, despair & love. I truly enjoyed this read.
