OK, so I have read other books by this author and have been impressed in the past but this book for me was a snooze fest and oh yeah, ALL sex and no depth on either of the main characters.

OK, this wasn't a slow "burn" at all, in fact I was sorely disappointed and quite frankly bored at times.
The premise of the story had a lot of potential but the actual storyline and how it was played out along with a bunch of immature side characters was sadly lacking in so much for me:( I like sex in my stories, ALOT but when it outplays the storyline, there's a problem! I wanted and needed so much more than the hot sex, I wanted relationship growth, mature feelings, etc.....

Caleb was so immature, his "issues" really were not an excuse for his very "distant" attitude. One minute he was so HOT, literally and sexy and the next he was so cold. And the fact they spent a lot of time during the first half apart was a no go for me to start with. They never "grew" as a couple it was literally ALL sex. I found them very immature along with their childish friends and family. quite honestly, I doubt I will read any of their stories if they come out as I was appalled;ed by most of their behavior. For late twenties adults and I use that loosely they behaved a lot like 13 year olds!

Just disappointed because between the cover and the synopsis, I had high hopes but this for me was a flop unfortunately!

Un incontro esplosivo e una connessione magnetica li attraversa fin da quando si notano. Audaci e seducenti entrambi sanno come conquistare il partner.
La relazione dei protagonisti all'inizio, ma non solo, si basa solo su un piano prettamente fisico e arrivare alla vera conoscenza sarà un cammino lungo e molto graduale.
Le scene hot sono tante, a mio parere anche troppe, e molto descrittive. Il linguaggio della scrittrice è abbastanza sboccato anche in frasi innocue per cui provate a immaginare cosa possa essere nelle scene bollenti.
L'autrice ha uno stile a tratti ironico e scorrevole, ma in alcuni parti ho notato il ripetersi di determinati accadimenti come se volesse ribadire il concetto utilizzando però gli stessi vocaboli e questo è stato un fattore determinante nella prima metà del libro che mi ha fatto girare le pagine con estrema lentezza e senza frenesia, ahimè.
Seppur sono entrambi ben caratterizzati, non sono riuscita ad entrare in sintonia con nessuno dei due protagonisti. Mentre, ci sono tantissimi altri personaggi che hanno rubato la scena e di cui sono curiosa...
In entrambi i pov, infatti, conosceremo tantissimi elementi validi che compongono la vita dei protagonisti.
Il libro è strutturato in tre parti e in ogni capitolo si ritrova una denominazione che caratterizza il lavoro dei vigili del fuoco, quindi posso affermare che la parte del lavoro di lui è considerata e non solo ornamentale all'interno del libro e assolutamente ben argomentata in più occasioni.
Purtroppo i momenti di tensione non mi hanno trasmesso nulla o poco, mentre quelli di attrazione sono stati ben gestiti e sicuramente mi hanno fatto rimpiangere di non aver mai conosciuto Caleb Ryan.
La conclusione della storia è la parte che mi ha più appassionata e coinvolta, purtroppo durante la lettura dell'intera storia non sono riuscita ad entrare a pieno nello stile e nei personaggi creati dall'autrice e solo durante la fine la storia è riuscita a spronarmi... Questo però non mi fa dimenticare di tutte le cose che sono avvenute prima.. Ho trovato diverse divergenze che non mi hanno convinta, in primis il carattere della protagonista e i suoi modi di fare, così come alcuni concetti rimarcati troppo spesso durante la narrazione dell'autrice. Insomma, speravo in qualcosa di più. Sicuramente proverò a leggere altro dell'autrice e non mi fermerò a questo, e ci tengo a sottolineare che questo è un mio parere personale. Ciò che non piace a me, potrebbe piacere a te! ;)

Brucia per me è una storia ad alto tasso erotico dove i protagonisti amano bruciare nella fiamma dell’amore e della passione più pura. Conosciamo sin dalle prime pagine Caleb, un vigile del fuoco affascinante e scorbutico che ha chiuso da poco una relazione basata sulla menzogna che gli ha lasciato dubbi, disappunto e poca aspettativa per le relazioni future. È un uomo diretto e sincero che dice sempre quello che pensa, soprattutto per quanto riguarda i suoi desideri in ambito sessuale. Caleb è un personaggio che si ama e si odia perché se una parte veniamo travolti dal suo umorismo e dalla sua leggerezza, dall’altra veniamo un po’ disturbati dalla sua volgarità. Dall’altra parte abbiamo Mila, una ragazza intraprendente che proviene da una famiglia ricca, che lavora nell’albergo di lusso di suo padre e che in realtà preferisce vivere a casa della sua amica. Mila tende a rimarcare a chi la conosce che tutto ciò che ha ottenuto nella sua vita è frutto dei suoi sacrifici e che suo padre l’ha educata a dimostrare di valere qualcosa con le sue sole forze e il suo sudore. L’unico suo aspetto negativo è che non riesce a gestire le relazioni con gli uomini e appare smisurata e davvero libertina nelle sue abitudini sessuali. Il primo incontro tra Mila e Caleb è un fuoco che non si spegne mai, un’attrazione palpabile che rende infuocate anche le pagine del libro. L’avventura di una notte però si trasforma in qualcosa di molto più forte che va via via crescendo nel corso della storia. Il romanzo mi aveva incuriosita molto dalla trama e dalla cover e soprattutto perché sono intrigata quando si parla di vigili del fuoco affascinanti, ma purtroppo sono rimasta un po’ delusa da una serie di dettagli che vi spiego di seguito. Parto col dire che il cosiddetto “dirty talking” cioè il linguaggio usato durante i rapporti sessuali è abbastanza spinto ed annoia un po’ chi legge, rovinando così il gusto della lettura. Sicuramente avrei preferito meno scene di sesso e più emozioni. Altro tasto dolente è che ahimè la famiglia Ryan viene soltanto accennata e ci vengono date sole delle brevi informazioni su di loro.

Caleb's wooing skills need some work, the man is just blunt, "Caleb’s hands stay on my hips, his mouth and lips grazing the side of my neck as he asks, “We can go back to my place, or I could eff you in the bathroom here.” I really don't think Caleb knows what the word shy means, "just as I’m about to tell her I’ll clean up, Caleb opens the goddaen door, completely effing naked. “Give us ten minutes.” I loved this book, although the main man was Caleb it was Owen that stole my heart and I'm hoping that man gets a story of his own.

Salve lettrici.
Ancora una volta Hope Edizioni non manca mai di incuriosirmi con le sue nuove uscite, per questo, appena ho avuto la possibilità, ho preso il Kindle tra le mani e mi sono immersa nella lettura di “Brucia per me” di Shey Stahl, una lettura che la CE mi ha gentilmente mandato.
Io adoro le storie suo pompieri, quindi non potevo perdermi la storia di Caleb Ryan.
Pompieri da generazioni, i ragazzi Ryan sono tutti sexy, arroganti e predisposti alle risse.
Il nome Ryan è una garanzia dalle loro parti e Caleb non è da meno.
Burbero, volgare e intrepido, Caleb è il personaggio che più mi ha lasciata in bilico. Spesso l’ho amato, ho amato la sua spensieratezza, la sua sensualità e la sua ironia, che ha reso il romanzo a tratti anche divertente, ma l’ho anche odiato.
Se non apprezzate il genere Caleb e la sua storia si riveleranno davvero volgari.
Ma torniamo alla trama.
Caleb, il giorno della vigilia di Natale, va con gli amici in discoteca e incontra Mila.
Tra i due scatta subito l’attrazione, le scintille e il fuoco.
Da una notte di passione inizia la loro storia, che non si fermerà solo all’attrazione fisica ma che ben presto di muterà in molto, molto di più.
I due ne vedranno delle belle, imprevisti compresi, e giorno dopo giorno rafforzeranno il loro legame senza mai dimenticare la loro attrazione.
Il punto fermo e quello debole di questo romanzo, secondo me, è proprio la loro attrazione folle.
Le scene hot sono sempre ben accette, ma in questo romanzo hanno preso il sopravvento.
Io ne avrei preferito un numero minore, ma l’autrice Shey Stahl non la pensa come me.
Se il protagonista maschile mi ha messo alle strette con il suo fascino, la protagonista femminile non l’ho proprio apprezzata. Troppo spigliata, troppo disinvolta e troppo facile.
Non era proprio il genere di romanzo che pensavo di trovare e sono rimasta un pochino delusa.
Mi ero creata delle false aspettative su questa lettura pensando di trovare intensità, emozioni forti e amore da capogiro. Purtroppo non è stato così. Seppure la storia catturi e intrighi, non riuscivo proprio a rimanere coinvolta da questi protagonisti.
Le tante scene hot mi hanno spesso annoiato e senza dubbio avrei preferito molta meno sensualità e più intensità.
Ci sono dei dettagli che non sono stati curati a sufficienza, come la famiglia Ryan ad esempio.
Vengono spesso nominati i fratelli di Caleb, ma di loro sappiamo poco e niente.
L’unico Ryan che conosciamo meglio è Evan, ma anche la sua storia e il suo legame con Caleb non sono valorizzati.
Mi sarebbe piaciuto inoltre sapere qualcosa in più su Owen e Jacey, migliori amici di Caleb, ma per loro spero in un altro volume.
Seppur Caleb e Mila non mi sono piaciuti molto, continuerò a seguire questa autrice perché, protagonisti a parte, il romanzo non è affatto male.
Sicuramente ben scritto, dettagliato, delineato e molto molto infuocato.
Consiglio questa lettura a chi ama il genere e non si sconvolge tanto facilmente.
Io con l’età sto iniziando ad apprezzare un genere un po’ più soft, ma sono convinta che voi, amanti del genere, non la penserete come me.
Per me è stata solo una lettura piacevole, un gradevole passatempo, ma per voi potrebbe essere molto di più.
Fatemi sapere se Caleb riuscirà a infiammarvi o se, come me, avreste preferito più intensità e meno passione.

Wow! What did I just read??? Couldn't put this book down!!! Mila and Caleb's love story grabbed me from page one, and I just couldn't stop reading it. Such an emotional find! Mila is the manager of her father's five-star hotel. Her life is not going as she had planned. Her boyfriend, who she had lived with recently, cheated on her and kicked her out. Now she sleeps on her best friend's couch. And, there's no way she's going to go back living with her parents. So, after work when her best friend, Scarlet, suggests that they go out to unwind and forget about her troubles, she meets Caleb. In fact, she sits right on his lap! That's a little forward of her - right?? But, Caleb, is looking for a little action himself. He's been in a three-month dry spell since he found that his former girlfriend was a stripper. How's it that so many of his co-workers knew but he didn't. And, in the line of work he's in, they tell each other everything since he's a firefighter and they spend so many hours together. So meeting Mila is perfect timing for some sexy times to be had. And, some fun smokin' sexy times is exactly what they have.

This was a pretty long book, but it totally held my attention throughout the entire story. With all the drama, the comical humor, and the HOT sex scenes between the two, I just was sorry when I turned the last page. Mila is one funny beautiful woman! And, Caleb was one dirty-talking gorgeous man! I did shed some tears along the way when devastation occurs. But, I think the author made a good choice by exploring the heartbreak. It just gave intensity to the story with more character development as the book neared its end.

Totally enjoyed this book by Shey Stahl! Looking forward to reading "Shade" next....

I do not understand the good reviews on this book. it is literally just sex and no real story line, it gets very boring very quickly. Call me old fashion but I need more connection between characters than just sex scene after sex scene. I ended up skipping all of these scenes and found that the book is pretty much 70 complete smut. It was a snoozefest for me.

Will not finish - gave up at 56% mark.

This started out really promising. But I quickly grew bored with it, as well as the uninventive, penetration-focused sex scenes. Oof.

Plus, I couldn't stomach all the weird, unnecessary quips that were misogynistic, homophobic, and transphobic. As an example, in a handful of scenes, the firefighter guys teased their colleague about unknowingly dating a transwoman.

Not worth the time, in my opinion. (And yes, I do leave ratings for unfinished books, provided that I made it past the 50% mark.)

Not recommended.

Miei cari lettori, oggi vi parlo di Brucia per me di Shei Stahl, nuova autrice entrata a far parte della scuderia Hope Edizioni.
Quando ho letto la trama di questo libro e mi sono accorta che il protagonista era un pompiere, la mia "ship" Chicago Fire ha drizzato le antenne. Così, mi sono buttata a capofitto nella lettura, e più andavo avanti più mi rendevo conto del fatto che avrei presto dovuto fare i conti con la dura realtà: non mi stava piacendo per niente.
Mila e Caleb sono in un momento particolare della propria vita. Mila ha appena rotto con il suo fidanzato musicista, o meglio, lui l'ha buttata fuori di casa. Nonostante abbia un ottimo lavoro come direttrice del Wellington Plaza e il prestigioso hotel sia di proprietà del padre, Mila preferisce dormire sul divano della sua migliore amica pur di non far capire a suo padre di aver bisogno di aiuto. Mila ha sempre ritenuto indispensabile dimostrare alla gente che non è un privilegio se adesso di trova a occupare una posizione di rilievo, ma tutto quello che ha è stato guadagnato con sudore, partendo dal basso e ricoprendo ogni tipo di mansione. Niente le è stato regalato e suo padre l'ha educata al sacrificio. Peccato che Mila non riesca a gestire altrettanto bene la sua vita privata. Il suo spirito ribelle e disinibito le ha dato qualche problemino e con gli uomini non è stata molto accorta.

Caleb Ryan è un pompiere da generazioni. Da poco è uscito da una relazione che lo ha lasciato pieno di rabbia e con grossi problemi di fiducia. La sua ex ragazza ha taciuto la verità sul suo lavoro e, a quanto pare, l'unico a non sapere la verità era proprio lui. I suoi colleghi non perdono occasione per fare battutine e la voglia di intraprendere una nuova relazione è ai minimi storici.
Quando però Caleb incontra Mila in un locale la notte di Natale non può fare a meno di sentirsi attratto dalla sensualità di quella splendida ragazza, con un corpo da dea e l'aspetto esotico.
Un ballo ed è subito passione. Istinti che entrambi assecondano in una notte che non dimenticheranno facilmente.
Un'avventura di una notte non sarà sufficiente a spegnere il fuoco che ha cominciato ad ardere, ma Mila e Caleb sono troppo testardi, o troppo scottati, per ammettere di avere bisogno l'uno dell'altro.
Inizia così un gioco fatto di inseguimenti e fughe, tallonamenti e scontri ardenti.
Brucia per me ha una trama che può risultare accattivante e, tralasciando il fatto che in alcuni punti risulti prolissa, mostra spunti interessanti con colpi di scena intriganti. Quello che non mi è piaciuto è lo stile di scrittura, troppo diretto, con un dirty talking che nonostante sia utile a rendere conto dei protagonisti, ho trovato esasperato.
Inoltre, ho percepito quello che l'autrice afferma nelle note finali, e cioè di aver ripreso in mano il testo dopo molto tempo. Ho come avuto l'impressione che ci fossero due grandi blocchi, un prima e un dopo, una seconda parte più gradevole senza nessuna ragione apparente a giustificare questa virata di stile.
Mila appare superficiale, eccessiva nelle sue condotte sessuali, nota che stride con il suo zelo nel lavoro e con la ferrea volontà di dimostrare di essere una persona matura e valida.
Non sono bigotta e credo nella libertà della donne di poter essere sessualmente esplicite come gli uomini, a patto però di non scambiare la parità tra i sessi in semplice mistificazione di uno stereotipo.
Caleb è un uomo che sa quello che vuole e non si vergogna di renderlo palese, anche a costo di sembrare sfacciato o indelicato. Rozzo e grossolano nei modi, la vita da caserma non fa che accentuare dei tratti che in lui sono naturalmente presenti. Anche il rapporto con i fratelli mostra un certo grado di ruvidezza, nota che accomuna tutti i maschi Ryan, che hanno votato le loro esistenze alla missione di salvare gli altri.
Piuttosto realistica la descrizione della vita da caserma e gli intrecci con personaggi secondari come Owen e Jacey, coinquilini e migliori amici di Ryan.
Non mi sento di condannare in toto Brucia per me, perchè alcuni momenti sono stati davvero intensi, ma se devo guardare alla totalità del testo, non c'è stato equilibrio tra le cose che mi sono piaciute e quelle che non ho gradito.
Il mio, come sempre, è un parere personale da lettrice che ama condividere le proprie impressioni.

4 "Firefighter Love" Stars for the story and 4.5 Stars for the narration!

Lovers of steamy, heat-filled listens will want to add room to their to-listen shelves for Burn! This book will definitely keep you hot and bothered with its red-hot intense scenes as well as chuckling along the way with its tongue-in-cheek humor. Moreover, the well-done dual narration by Greyson Ash and J. F. Harding makes this a good choice to experience in audio.

Although Milena Wellington comes from money (her father owns the ritzy hotel she is the general manager of) she's presently homeless by choice, but nonetheless sleeping on her friend's couch. This is because her boyfriend--who cheated on her--then had the audacity to kick her out. Then she meets and gets intimate with a firefighter who lights her world.

Problem is: Caleb--aka the hot firefighter--isn't the settling down type.

Will their union be a passing flame or actually be the catalyst that sparks a true change in each others lives?

The dual narration worked well to differentiate the chapters which are told in alternate points of view of Milena's and Caleb's perspective. Both narrators do a great job of both communicating the humor and the heat that fill the pages of this romance. Moreover, they use good timing to adequately pace the delivery of the story as well as instill each scene with adequate emotion.

Perhaps my favorite part of the story was Caleb's sexy voice. JF Harding, in particular, does an amazing job of bringing Caleb to life. Greyson Ash also exceled with Milena's parts making this dual narration a hit!

All in all, if you're looking for a steamy, funny romance, Burn may just be the book to scratch your itch.

Un incendio per alimentarsi ha bisogno di queste tre cose: ossigeno calore e combustibile ed è così che il libro è diviso, proprio in tre parti. Senza considerare che ogni capitolo è introdotto dal significato di ogni termine che compone il mondo dei pompieri ma che io ho saltato inesorabilmente perché il libro ha un ritmo incalzante e la storia è una vera e propria bomba. Io non solo lo straconsiglio questo libro ma dico che sarebbe un vero errore non leggerlo. Per me sono tre le parole che lo riassumono: sesso fuoco e lacrime perché nonostante un'ottima dose di scene di sesso super ben descritte c'è la vita di un pompiere, Caleb e un'intera famiglia di pompieri che ci porta alla dura realtà di cosa può succedere durante un incendio. Si ride anche molto, Mila ha un linguaggio sporco e le sue amiche Scarlet e Izzy la supportano ben bene nei suoi stalkeraggi all'uomo più infiammabile in circolazione, Caleb che ci mette una vita a dare il suo numero di telefono a Mila ma un niente ad innamorarsi di lei. È bellissimo emozionarsi ancora con un libro, grazie Shey!

So, not going to lie and say I absolutely loved this book, cause I didn't. I liked it a lot, but not love what so ever. This is the first I've read from this author and won't be the last. The writing was smooth and the story flowed, slowly, but it moved along decently. I will say, I cried like a bitch towards the end and then I was hooked. It was just ridiculously long and a little drawn out. The sex was good, but a little over the top. I did really like getting facts of the firefighters cause I'm overly obsessed with them. I'm still giving this book a high rating cause it wasn't near awful, just dragged is all. I will def read more by this author tho.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by Burn. I generally find most erotica books have corny and ridiculous story lines that I tend to skip through but, this one was actually enjoyable. But, I also had a lot of issues with this book. One being, how disrespectful Caleb was towards Mila. Some of the things he did and said were mind boggling. And, the fact that Mila did what Caleb said, just pissed me off. But, since this is an erotica book, I guess that kind of behavior is expected. I liked the narrators. I think both did an awesome job with the characters. The end of the book was a lot of useless dialogue. The author could've cut the last three or four chapters. I'm kind of wishing this was a series. I would've liked a book about Jaycee and Owen & Scarlet and Shade. All in all, Burn was a steamy, funny romance and I'd recommend it.

Holy firefighters!
This book is about a 100 pages too long with redundant sex scenes, bullies and betrayal. That's the first half! If your father is a wealthy hotel owner, why are you living on your best friend's couch? You manage the hotel. And why do you allow revenge on your sleazy rock star boyfriend to provoke you into going home with a stranger? And the next morning you still don't know the stranger's last name, his telephone number or if he is a serial killer.
But if you continue to the second half, the story really picks up. You begin to understand all of the mountains in Milena and Caleb's way on their journey to true love and if it is worth the trip!

I loved this book for so much more than the story. For the lessons it taught me, the emotion it made me feel and the deep ache it left in my heart.

I didn’t know what I was getting into with this book, it was an accident I listened to it. But I will never forget it and will come back from time to time to relearn the lessons taught in the words.

Ci sono un bel po' di cose da dire su Brucia per me, primo romanzo di Shey Stahl arrivato in Italia. La prima è che si tratta di un romanzo che fa del sesso il cuore pulsante della storia. Tra i protagonisti, Mila e Caleb, nasce tutto per gioco, con una leggerezza assurda, e procede allo stesso modo per gran parte del romanzo. Vi basti sapere che proprio la prima sera in cui si incontrano, e Mila si siede sulla gambe di Caleb senza neanche dirgli ciao o chiedergli il nome, nel momento in cui iniziano a ballare insieme, la ragazza ha un orgasmo sulla pista. Sì, proprio così, dal nulla. Ballano, si strusciano l'uno sull'altra e... boom. Orgasmo. È stata la prima di una lunga serie di volte in cui ho storto il naso.
Ci sono diversi incontri tra loro, tutti di natura esclusivamente sessuale, senza che nemmeno si parlino della loro vita o accennino a una conoscenza. Non si scambiano il numero di telefono, non hanno la più pallida idea di come fare per rintracciare l'altro. Tutto molto strano e senza basi. Eppure funziona. Insieme funzionano e l'intesa sessuale che hanno è potentissima.
Mi sono detta "vediamo dove vuole arrivare" continuando a storcere il naso per le imprese erotiche raccontate, e ho proseguito. La storia procede tra sessioni di sesso spinto, fantasioso e originale, e dettagli inutili che l'autrice insiste a raccontare. Sono dettagli su personaggi secondari, sulle relazioni che hanno con i protagonisti, o minuzie superflue su Mila e Caleb che non hanno nulla a che vedere con la loro storia d'amore in fioritura.
Ho trovato molto interessante, nel marasma di sesso senza conseguenze e senza scopo, la riflessione sul passato e sul presente di Caleb. Il vero personaggio da scoprire è sicuramente lui. Nonostante come Mila sia cresciuto senza i genitori - persi in un incendio - Caleb ha un'anima più profonda che Shey Stahl vuole far conoscere al lettore. Ci sono delle frasi, dei pensieri estemporanei e profondi che il ragazzo butta fuori come un flusso di coscienza, frasi che mi hanno toccata. Appare lui, quindi, il personaggio da scoprire e su cui puntare tutto. Mila invece è più frivola, coerente con il modo in cui la storia è stata narrata.

An interesting story about a douche bag & a doormat. Behavior is more fit for YA. Don’t think this guy is stable enough to be a firefighter. She’s too immature to for the position at her father’s hotel.

There are so many characters & so much going on in this book that I had to map it out with descriptions.

Molto divertente, devo dire.
In alcune scene mi son piegato in due dalle risate, perché i personaggi di questa storia sono un vero spasso, nel bene e nel male. Ognuno vive con i propri pesi sulle spalle, con le aspettative e la pressione delle famiglie, a lavoro e nella vita di ogni giorno.
Ma Caleb e Mila fanno vere e proprie scintille quando sono assieme, sin dal primo istante, e ammetto che non poteva esserci titolo migliore di questo per descrivere un romanzo così pieno di metafore, di fiamme vere e proprie e momenti capaci di far scaldare anche il più forte dei lettori.
Avrei tolto un paio di scene di sesso superflue, ma devo dire che in ogni caso la storia scorre bene, forse perché mossa da personaggi ed eventi parecchio interessanti, che si sviluppano in maniera notevole, grazie anche ad una scrittura semplice ma d'effetto.
Sono soddisfatto di questa lettura.

4 stars. Beautifully complex characters; each believably broken in their own ways, but still carrying on in a thoughtful, organic path. While there were certainly more than a few inconsistencies in the story, it was wasn’t anything so glaringly obvious as to take away from the intent of the author. The steam was... erm.. *ahem* good. Oh, who the shit am I kidding! The steam was freaking great. But I loved how thoughtful and true to the grim realities of first responders he author was. Her insight to some of the pain and horrors firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs face was noteworthy and beautiful in its own right. Will absolutely read more from this author. Also, a solid 4.25 starts for the narrators. Will listen to their reads in the future as well.

This was first time reading this story of Milena (hotel manager) and Caleb Ryan (firefighter). I have to say some parts are ridiculous and also some key issues are just ignored or not even mentioned. For example, she sleeps with him and sees him weekly but they never get each other’s phone numbers, he doesn’t question that she’s a rich girl, her father owns a luxury hotel where she’s the manager, the sleazy banker guy friend tries to murder her by locking themselves into her hotel office, etc... it’s just all ridiculous and u realistic but the story somehow works and the relationship is well written and works. 4 stars.

Firefighter? Someone needs to hose me down before this man sets my ears on fire.

I have to say, J.F. Harding has quite the voice. It's energetic yet smooth and deep without being gravely. Mufasa ain't got nothing on this man; he's the freaking king of the Audiobooks!

Burn showcases his unbelievable talent to create humor even during a morose passage. His timing is SPOT. ON. I was a fish on a hook and he dragged me behind The USS Vocal Perfection.

J.F. Harding is magnificent and I want to eat his voice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Narrator Review (Greyson):

Greyson Freaking Ash. Call me greedy, but I can I have this woman's voice?

I don't think an audiobook has ever made me cry so much. No one should have that much power. I followed Greyson's cadence right into an abyss of heartache. Her voice is the definition of elegance and temptation.

I didn't want the torture to end! She absolutely lit me UP!

Now, Greyson's voice paired with J.F. Harding's? YaaaOK it's going to be hard to find another pair like this. I was so impressed with how these two tangoed together. I felt like I should have closed my eyes and not watched...but I guess that wouldn't have helped considering this is an audiobook...but hey, we win some we loose some. 😏

Good gawd! Who would have thought it would be so easy to find a HUNK?! I need to start a fire. Like, STAT.

Burn has that eau de passion I have been waiting for! Angst, delicious conflict, invigorating plot twists. For you smutty smuts, this is the book for YOU!

Let's begin.

We are first introduced to Caleb. The man just wants to sleep, but his job disagrees with him; a hero has no time to sleep! And quite the hero he is...*eyebrow waggle*

Caleb is a dirty fiend of a fireman. He also needs a lesson in tact because his mouth is filth-AY. Unfortunately for him, he has been dealt the wild cards in relationships; Caleb's girlfriend is a stripper. Well, ex-girlfriend. He didn't know she was a stripper...so...well...obviously she's out of the picture now. (Hopefully forever)

If only Caleb could find a decent woman.

Entering: Mila.

Mila doesn't have much luck in relationships either, although she probably wishes she was dating Magic Mike after getting cheated on AND kicked out of her place. What a gentleman. Snort! Mila moves in with her friend only to find herself at a bar...the same bar Caleb is at.

Ooo these two are toxic! Talk about major push-pull syndrome! This is unrequited love with some serious twists. Yes, Shey Stahl has sculpted us a hero who is incapable of love (so he thinks).

“Do you believe in love at first sight?” I blurt out, wanting to slap my hand over my mouth.
I wait.
I want to see what he’s going to say.
His attention shifts to the window overlooking the city. "No. That’s for fairy tales and romance novels.” He waits a beat, still not looking at me, and asks, “Do you?”

Umm YEAH I do!

He’s watching me, eyes intent on mine and part of me is wondering if he’s remembering what I said earlier this morning. That I loved him and I knew he loved me too, despite him not saying it.
Will he say it now?

Umm NO he won't!

Caleb is beautifully damaged. Although I enjoyed Mila's character, Caleb was the sous chef that put a cheese grater to my heart.

Shey Stahl's writing is ambrosial. This was my first text by her, and I'm obsessed. We follow our protagonists as they peregrinate through life thinking everything is going according to plan. Considering their misfortunes they think they have dandy lives, they're doing dandy things...until that one person comes and shows them there's so much more to live for. Or in this case: die for.

She pushes on my shoulders. “Protect yourself. I’m a death magnet.”
I’m not sure what to say to her because, in a way, I feel that way too.

Shey Stahl has given us an inextinguishable love. Passion, elegance and sacrifice, Burn is absolutely timeless.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have my house to burn down...If my heart doesn't fail me first.

Mila è una giovane donna con una vita un po' confusa, lavora nell'albergo di famiglia ma non le viene riconosciuto il valore che merita, piuttosto viene considerata una raccomandata che ha ottenuto il lavoro solo perché figlia del proprietario, nonostante abbia fatto gavetta e sia altamente qualificata; la sua vita privata è ancora peggio poiché dorme sul divano della sua migliore amica essendo stata tradita e scaricata dall'uomo con cui viveva. Una sera, in un bar, incontra Caleb, vigile del fuoco bellissimo, tatuato e molto, molto sexy. Inevitabilmente finiscono a letto insieme e le fiamme che ne scaturiscono cambieranno la loro vita. Caleb è un uomo piuttosto complicato, non crede nell'amore essendo anche lui stato tradito ed ha un passato di dolore e sofferenza. L'unica cosa che riconosce di bello nella sua vita è la sua famiglia, da cui è stato adottato da piccolo in seguito alla morte dei suoi veri genitori e l'appartenenza alla sua squadra di vigili.

Più trascorrono del tempo insieme più le loro vite si intrecciano e per Mila diventa impossibile non innamorarsi di Caleb, del suo carattere ombroso, della sua tristezza, dei suoi occhi tormentati e dei suoi rari sorrisi. E per lui Mila diventa una presenza importantissima per emergere dalla spirale di dolore e insofferenza che sempre più fanno parte di lui, fino a non riuscire più a immaginare di vivere senza di lei, ma non riuscendo mai ad esprimere la reale portata dei suoi sentimenti.

Innamorarsi di questo libro è stato facile, tutti i personaggi rispecchiano brandelli di vita e sofferenza reali, tutti in passato hanno sofferto e il dolore continua ad infiltrarsi nel loro presente e a non lasciarli andare. Mila e Caleb hanno entrambi un carattere forte e si ritroveranno a lottare per non arrendersi e vivere quello che sta nascendo tra loro. Tante volte mi sono ritrovata ad incitare mentalmente Caleb ad andare avanti e a non darla vinta al dolore che usa come scudo per proteggersi dalle sofferenze passate e dalla paura di quelle future. E tante, tantissime volte mi sono irritata con Mila per il suo essere un po' succube di alcune circostanze e alcune persone.

Brucia con me è un romanzo altamente erotico ma commovente allo stesso tempo. In un alternarsi di umorismo, sensualità e straziante dolore, la scrittrice ci ricorda che ci vuole un niente per cambiare il corso della nostra vita e che, se anche lacrime e dolore sono sempre lì, bisogna lottare tenacemente per la speranza di una vita felice. La sua scrittura intensa, scorrevole e diretta ha reso fino in fondo la profondità dei sentimenti dei protagonisti ed è arricchita dalla presenza dei personaggi secondari, fondamentali nella spensieratezza e nella sofferenza; Owen e Scarlett pazzi ed irriverenti, Jacey ed Evan e la loro storia contorta che lascia l'amaro in bocca. Ci trascina per mano nella vita di un vigile del fuoco, ci fa riflettere sui sentimenti e sulle azioni di chi vive questa vita e di chi ha una relazione con loro, sulla sottile paura che accompagna ogni giornata e dei tormenti e dei sensi di colpa dopo ogni intervento e anche del senso del dovere di chi vive il proprio mestiere come una missione.

Un incendio ha bisogno di tre cose per sopravvivere: ossigeno, calore e combustibile. Togline una e alla fine l’incendio si estinguerà.

Ricordo che scelsi questo romanzo perché la cover sprigionava una sensualità senza fine e per la trama che comprendeva un sexy pompiere e una giovane donna caparbia. Non mi aspettavo granché da questa storia, pensavo fosse una di quelle letture semplici che di solito scelgo per passare spensieratamente un paio di ore. E' risultato essere proprio quello che cercavo, ma anche molto di più. Brucia per me di Shey Stahl è un romanzo che n'è valsa la pena perché mi ha fatto provare delle emozioni forti e versare anche qualche lacrima. 

«Aspetta qui» dico a Caleb.
Lui sorride e si appoggia alla porta con le braccia incrociate al petto. «Mi piace una donna che riesce a darmi ordini.»
Gli metto un dito sul petto, sorridendo. «Ovvio che ti piace.»

Milena Wellington ricopre il ruolo di direttrice nell'hotel a cinque stelle che appartiene a suo padre. Tutti credono che abbia avuto questo lavoro per nepotismo e non per i suoi meriti, ma anche essendo cresciuta in un modo privilegiato, ha sempre sudato per ottenere le sue personali soddisfazioni. L'unica pecca nella sua vita? L'amore. Mila sembra incontrare tutti i tipi sbagliati ed è così che si ritrova a vivere sul divano della sua migliore amica ma, nel frattanto, non riesce a dimenticare l'arrogante pompiere con cui ha condiviso la notte della vigilia di Natale...

Caleb Ryan darebbe la sua vita buttandosi tra le fiamme se questo vorrebbe dire salvarne altre. Essere un pompiere per lui non è mai stata una scelta, è sempre stato il suo unico destino come suo padre e il resto dei suoi fratelli. Un uomo coraggioso, un eroe moderno, ma quando si parla di amore, Caleb fugge a gambe levate. Lui è convinto di non essere in grado di amare. Le donne servono solo a scaldargli il letto, una notte e via, Caleb non chiede di più. E allora perché non riesce a dimenticare gli incredibili occhi azzurri e la bellezza esotica della ragazza con cui ha passato la notte della vigilia di Natale? Non vorrei ammetterlo, ma Mila è come una scintilla che ha fatto incendiare il mio cuore e che adesso sto trovando difficile ignorare. È una miscela di carburante istantaneo che colpisce forte. Una fiamma di ritorno. Quella che non ho visto arrivare finché non mi ha bruciato dentro.

Cosa significa essere un pompiere? E' quello che l'autrice attraverso questo romanzo cerca di spiegarci; la loro vita, i retroscena, i sacrifici e a quali pericoli sono esposti ogni giorno. La particolarità di questo libro - una chicca che io ho apprezzato non poco - è che ogni capitolo inizia con un vocabolo riguardante i vigili del fuoco e il lavoro che svolgono. Scoprire la loro terminologia per far sì che capissimo meglio il loro mondo è stata indubbiamente una bella trovata che ha arricchito il romanzo.

E' la prima volta che leggo una storia in cui il protagonista è un pompiere! Questa figura mancava nel mio repertorio. Non sono rimasta delusa né dalla trama, né dagli avvenimenti che hanno scandito il ritmo del romanzo. L'autrice ha uno stile fluido che permette al lettore di far scorrere velocemente le pagine e, nonostante il libro ne conti parecchie, non mi sono mai annoiata. Questa è una delle mie più grandi paure perché, di solito, i libri lunghi possono risultare dei brodi allungati, ma non è questo il caso.

La maggior parte dell'opera si svolge in maniera tranquilla, seppur molto passionale (e in merito a questo penso che qualche scena hot in meno non avrebbe guastato) fino a quando si arriva alla parte dinamica della storia. Parte che mi ha preso praticamente alla sprovvista e mi ha gettata in una spirale di stupore e commozione.

I protagonisti mi hanno conquistata fin da subito per i loro caratteri così forti ed estroversi. Era da parecchio che non mi imbattevo in una donna così disinibita e in un uomo così cavernicolo e, allo stesso tempo, sfacciato. Una storia singolare, intensa, piena di passione che consiglio a chi vuole emozionarsi e riscaldarsi in questo freddo inverno perché Mila e Caleb sapranno dare fuoco ai vostri cuori!

Caleb, invece, è un pompiere in una famiglia di pompieri con taaaanti segreti e cicatrici emotive, muri insormontabili dietro cui ha nascosto un cuore che non ha mai smesso di soffrire

Vive con un suo collega pompiere e la ragazza storica di suo fratello, ed è proprio al bar dove lei lavora che incontra Milena e la sua pazza amica (l'adorerete😍)

Per levarsi di torno una volta per tutte il suo ex, Milena si vede costretta a una mossa disperata: avvicinarsi al bellissimo sconosciuto e pregare che le tenga il gioco, fingendosi il suo nuovo ragazzo😅🙈

🔥Lo stile dell'autrice non annoia mai, la narrazione è incalzante e ricca di colp di scena; c'è tanta leggerezza, tipica di una relazione che non vuole diventare profonda subito, ma che ne ha tutte le intenzioni, solo, i due protagonisti hanno troppa paura di ferirsi per buttarsi🥺💔

Quando poi l'ennesima tragedia colpirà le loro vite, in un susseguirsi di dolore, perdita, rabbia, allontanamento, cose non dette e dette ma non vere, starà a Milena e Caleb resistere alla tempesta, aspettare che passi per vivere il loro ✨grande amore✨

I'm reading Burn it's 11:30pm and I thinking I really should put this down and go to bed. Fast forward to 4:25am when I'm crawling into bed after finishing this book. It was so worth the totally exhaustion I faced the next day! Firefighting takes a special kind of person and is one of those traditions that tends to run in the family. Caleb is special, a part of that tradition, oh and mouth watering to boot. The beautiful Milena is the manager of her families high end hotel. Don't get me wrong she is not one of these spoiled girls riding her fathers coat tails. She earned her position. Some former bad decisions on both Caleb and Milena's parts have them thinking they can keep this casual. Boy were they wrong!!! They are explosive together!!! Now add in the crazy best friend Scarlett the maid, Tom the valet(there an no words to explain Tom lol), Shade the VIP guest, Jayden the ex-girlfriend now roommate, the ridiculously goofy fellow firefighter and roommate Owen, the rest of Caleb's firefighting brothers, including Kellan who is actually a cop because he had to be different and Burn is now the perfect balance of love, loss, stress, humour and panty melting moments (Shey you know what scene I'm talking about ;) WOW!) Fan Frickin Tastic Shey! LOVED IT!!!! 10 ever-loving stars lady!!!

Quando si inizia un libro spesso si riesce a capire fin dai primi capitoli che sarà indimenticabile, o che ci farà piangere, che ci farà fare grosse risate o, ahimè, che non vediamo l’ora che sia finito.

Vi chiederete in quale categoria ho messo questo romanzo? Di sicuro non tra gli indimenticabili, ma è un mix di tutte le altre categorie citate.

Mila e Caleb si incontrano per caso in un pub quando Mila cerca di approcciare il sexy pompiere per far ingelosire il suo ex ragazzo traditore.
Caleb è sexy, rude, rissoso e non si fida più delle donne dopo che ha scoperto che la sua ex ragazza in realtà era una spogliarellista.
Ma in Mila trova qualcosa di diverso, non sa bene cosa, che lo attrae particolarmente.

E quella che doveva essere l’avventura di una notte, si trasforma in un’avventura di più notti.

Ed e proprio qui che il romanzo diventa ripetitivo e perde spessore.

I due non fanno altro che fare sesso. sesso. sesso. sesso. Ovunque, in qualsiasi luogo e a qualsiasi ora. Ogni volta che si vedono, non riescono a togliersi le mani di dosso; i dialoghi sono quasi inesistenti e le vicende secondarie vengono quasi dimenticate. (...)
