Between Heaven and Hell

Rate this book
There's nothing worse than waking up dead unless you're conned into chasing wicked killers and other odd creatures as a condition of coming back to the world of the living.
Heaven Bennett is having a bad day. Not only is she delivering pizza just to pay her rent, but she's about to die
Cole Chandler is a demon biker turned double agent. His number one priority is to keep Heaven from getting herself killed, which isn't going to be easy now that she has shown up in the middle of a serial killer's home turf.
Heaven was born to be a hunter and if she fails to fulfill her life contract, the devil wins and the entire world will face disaster. What's a girl to do when the fate of mankind rests on how fast she can draw her pistol or if she can even get out of bed in the morning?

Kendra loves theme parks, tropical islands, and the sea. When she isn’t busy writing her next adventure, she likes going to the drive-in movies with her kids, camping, long road trips, and watching The Walking Dead.
You might run into Kendra at Disneyland, or possibly New Orleans, especially around Halloween. She’ll probably be listening to Guns -n- Roses, and eating Gumbo. Slash is the best!

(I just wanted to say before I do this review, I did not complete this book. This is a review because I couldn't bear to finish it.) This book sucks. It has the potential to be a great book which is why I haven't given it a one star. The book itself is all over the place. There seems to be different type of story theme going on at once. The basic understanding I get from the story is that Heaven is close to dying and she is given a choice to solve a murder in order to keep from dying before her time. Simple right? But no, the author tries to create a seamless storyline in order for people to understand this but instead it feels like a bunch of scene cut and paste to each other. [spoiler] She is in a place where she speaks to three different representative for heaven, hell, death itself and they tell her that if she does dies she would go to hell because she didn't go to a family members funeral, which is the most stupidest thing I ever heard of. At that point I couldn't take more of the bad writing and stop reading. I am really disappointed because I feel like this book was going to be good and it wasn't

Starts off good

This one starts off really good, but about two thirds of the way through it loses its pacing and starts to feel a little rushed. While we are aware that we are reading paranormal fiction, there is just too much information dumped on the reader at once. In my case, that translates to the loss of suspension of disbelief. So much flies loose at once that the reader just says, "Huh?!"
