Her crazy family and unprofitable bar were enough to contend with. Now Fiona McCabe has a murderer on her heels. Worse still, the local Garda sergeant seems to think she was involved in her old friend's murder. With the police sniffing around her bar and a murderer on the loose, things aren't looking good for Fiona. Luckily for her, she's got the McCabe clan fighting her corner. Can they dig through their small town's web of secrets to solve the mystery and find the real killer?
Apple Seeds and Murderous Deeds is the first novel in the Fiona McCabe mystery series. All of the books are standalone mysteries.
In February I downloaded Apple Seeds and Murderous Deeds by Kathy Cranston, which is a very good little Irish cozy series that I didn't know existed. This story was very funny and the murder mystery was a good one as well. I liked main character Fiona, he entrepreneur spirit and her large Irish family. Overprotective, loyal and loud, the McCabe family is exactly as you would picture a large loving Irish family to be. I really enjoyed the story behind the mystery and the way I felt while reading it. I am going to purchase the next one in the series for sure, this one was really good and I don't want to end my time with the McCabe family just yet.
3 stelle scarse.
This is a nice easy to read cozy mystery. When an old friend dies landlord Fiona- well she would be if her Dad would stop interfering, finds herself on the wrong end of the investigation and having her own personal problems with the police to contend with has no choice but to investigate. It was a nice change to have large family that care for each other even if sometimes she felt like it was just meddling. I think it could be a fun series but there wasn't enough twists or suspects to make me buy the next book straight away, maybe in a few months time.
Good cozy mystery with background featuring Irish family , pub trend moving to craft beers , even running out of a Guinness which would be unheard of before in Ireland so what a mystery then !!! Seriously though it is about a close family all working together to try to solve the murder of a customer of their daughter / sister Fiona’s pub , despite a male vindictive police officer who would if he could would love to unlawfully lock Fiona up for his own personal reasons . Good read . I rate 4 plus .
This is a new series and author for me. The main character is Fiona who runs a pub in a small town in Ireland. When a guy she went to school with is murdered after being in her pub, she is looked at as the murderess. But the cop in her town is lazy and crooked and would love to pin it on her. Her whole family helps her clear her name. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more of her adventures.
Fiona is running the family pub, when Dec is found dead she wants to discover what happened and who done it. With the help of her family she seeks answers. Apple Seeds and Murderous Deeds was a fun read. Won't say where apple seeds come in but if you read it you will. There are words that are Irish in usage but understandable. Thank you Kathy Cranston.
This is the first in the series and the first time reading this author. The main character is Fiona. She runs a pub in their village. One of her friends is murdered after being in her pub. The Garda in her town are crooked and want to pin this on her. Her entire family comes to her aid and they figure out what really happened. I look forward to more of her adventures.
The pacing in this story kept me on the edge of my seat wondering who was the guilty party, Althea while the family antics kept cracking me up. I’m buying the next one.
Good book read in one setting. Fiona operates the family pub/coffee shop . The family are strong and loyal to each other. You'll laugh, get irritated at the Guardia and enjoy the bond this family shares as they struggle to solve the mystery of their friends murder.
I love a good Irish Mystery and this one is excellent. Fiona McCabe is running her families pub on her own but has plenty of backup from her siblings and parents. She definitely needs them when a murder puts her on the hot seat with the Garda.
This was a fun Irish mystery and the writing seems to be by an actual Irish writer. I liked Fiona and her family was a hoot. Her town is so small that there weren’t that many suspects and I still didn’t know who did it.
Wow more twists and turns than a country lane what a fab read i couldn't put it down till I knew who was the killer really looking forward to reading more xx
I guess I was expecting Maeve Binchy or Patrick Taylor, which I did not get . I will say that once I got into the cadiance of the book it was enjoyable.
I love Irish mysteries! This one had a great plot and memorable characters. You'll really enjoy reading this one, especially with all of its twists and turns.
It was a Great Book. Disappointed that I couldn't get the next book. It didn't even show after the end of this book. I really did enjoy Apple Seeds, Great mystery.
This is a fast read with turns and twists. The only thing that is missing is romance. The characters are well drawn. I recommend to all cozy mystery lovers.
