37+ Grace Marks by Vishal Anand, an teen romantic fiction which would be your memory refreshing. From first year college to farewell, author portrayed the engineering college life astonishingly. The cover is so apt to the story line.

Viraj was the protagonist of the story, In which author conveyed the emotions, pains, difficulties and life lessons that engineering days teaches you. How he met Nimisha, How he learnt the life is behind those pass marks, More than all friends the bonding between them.

Exams, practicals, tech festivals, class bunking, first love, teenage problems, those unforgettable moments of everyone life's. What you need more than this to glued towards pages.

Simple vocabularies and lucid language. An interesting narrative and characterization. Seriously somewhat connectable story even though it feels in those monotonous romantic fiction.

Overall, 37+ Grace marks is story of Life behind those grace marks and backlogs. Most refreshing, engaging and good read.

“The Illiterate of the 21st century won’t be those who can’t read and write but those who can’t learn, unlearn and relearn.” The traditional idea of being educated is to have glorious scores on the mark sheets, a good paying 9-5 job, and an ideal money-saving strategy. But with time, some perspectives have changed too. Now, people believe more in the fact that education is not learning of facts and figures but the training of the mind to think.

“37+ Grace Marks” touches the same issue and narrates the story of Viraj, an engineering student, and his friends. The novella is built around one major idea that the students bear the brunt of college rules. Be it attendance or dreary shower by the teachers, the students are the ones who come apart at the seams. The novel explores the precarious personality of Viraj, who is a round character that evolves throughout the story. Once jaunty and carefree, Viraj’s psyche is altered when Nimisha enters his life. Rejected in love (twice), his desperate attempts to balance his life with good marks also fails. Left with no other option, he decides to call it quits.

Viraj’s wobbly personality is not very amiable. There are certain missing links in the story; some chapters have not been linked to each other properly. Another point that I would like to highlight is the biased perception towards determined achievers. The plot might seem relatable to most of the students who are either still studying or have completed college. But for the ones who are (were) diligent achievers, the emotions seem distant.

Coming to the technicalities of the book, the cover of the book is apt; the title, however, fails to impress. A subtler title would have been better. I was rather peeved at the frivolous mistakes (like on page179 when the doctor acknowledges Nimisha because her father was his friend, the line that quotes the same is: “His father and I were college friends.”). The incorrect use of pronoun here irked me a lot. Other than this, the casual or I would rather say the colloquial use of language is something I disliked (for example I removed myself from the front of the door).

Other than this, the previews were for the author and not the story. Generally, it is the other way around. With a baffling blurb, the story failed to strike the right chord. Amidst very high claims, the plot has nothing new to offer. The character of Nimisha could have been given more importance and this could have been used to make the ending a little unpredictable.

Best wishes to the author.

Story in a nutshell-

As the title of the book suggests, this book is set in college and talks about college life. Viraj, the protagonist, is an engineering student. He is not much into academics and believes in clearing his exams with just passing marks. Just like it happens in most novels, Viraj falls head over heels in love with Nimisha. He flirts with her during the initial days before confessing his love to her. Nimisha refuses to acknowledge his love. On the contrary, she rebukes him for taking to a wrong method in order to get in touch with her. Viraj is left heart-broken. Does Viraj give up on his first love? Does he manage to get out of the-passing-marks cycle?

Review-

Teenage romances do not interest me these days. I was asked to review this book by Anmol from Arudhaa Club. The first impression of this book was a good one. The blurb seemed interesting and the cover design caught my eye. I started reading the book with an expectation that it will give me something good to read. At one point of time, I had a feeling that the story was fresh. But then over time, I knew that I was drinking the same wine from a different bottle.

The story is that of college romance which has escapades of hatred, jealousy, failure and hope. The plot is a very common one. It is presented differently with new incidents. The third person narration of this story makes reading a pleasant experience. The language is lucid and easily comprehensible. Since it's a story set in college, there are many characters. Viraj is an emotional guy. The things he does for Nimisha are really cute. Viraj's friends have always been supporting him. Their friendship made me jealous.

37+ Grace Marks is one story that will make you grow interested in the book at one point of time while take away curiosity at the other. There are many surprise elements in this book. One can learn a few life lessons too. However, the book failed to create a place in my heart.

I rate:
Cover: 3/5
Characters: 3/5
Story: 3/5

Writing and narration:

The narration of the story is appreciable. I instantly connected well with the story. It lets you go back in the reverie of your college life. The narration has the power to mesmerize you.

Book cover and title:

The book cover seems appropriate and is fascinating. The title of the story is also relevant with the plot inside. Also, just by reading the title one can predict what is going to be in the pages of the book.

Pros:

Well-narrated.
Instant Connection
Makes you remember your good old days.
Cons:

Could have been slightly better.
Simple plot.
My verdict:

A well-narrated story with a plot that makes sense. The education system of the country is suffering a lot as students are trained to run after excellence but are not learning. Viraj, the main lead is a victim of such scenario. Followed by a chain of events, the climax deserves a big thumbs up.

Well being an Engineering student, who knows better than me what an engineer deals with in his/her college life. To be honest, this book reminisced me about my college days. The grace marks is a big thing for every engineering student, until and unless you are an intelligent studious guy. Well coming to the book, like every teenage love Novels, this book has a nice cute love story to tell. I had read such stories before.

Having said that, this book is a lot different from other books. The girl protagonist of the story doesn't accept Viraj's proposal at the very first time. Not even the second time. So it was a kind of one sided love story. What makes this book interesting is its narration style. With a very simple and easy language the Author never fails to bore the readers. So if you are someone who is looking for a light easy read, then this book is for you.

“Love is a disease whose symptoms make your life a living hell, yet you never want to get out of it, nor can you find the right medicines to cure it.”

37+ Grace Marks by Vishal Anand is a romantic thriller with the amalgamation of humor, friendship, grief and inspiration. The book portrays the reality of a college life and the challenges one has to overcome in order to attain true love. An examination mark sheet can never define a person’s real abilities. A student often gets disheartened one he acquires low grades in his mark sheet. He may even lose his self-confidence due to low grades. Life seems to fade away when things are not under our control anymore. At that point of time, it is important to realize that an examination mark sheet can never define a person’s real abilities.

Blurb:

37+ Grace Marks revolves around the protagonist of the story, Viraj, whose main motive of life was to become a successful engineer. With a firm determination, he steps into the college life and works hard towards attaining his goals. But destiny had something else planned for him. He falls in love with his classmate Nimisha, who was already the crush of many of his classmates. Despite several attempts, he fails to win her heart and decides to move on. His friends Punit and Sahil try to cheer him up at all the bitter stages of his life. After a few weeks, he gets attracted towards a girl Laila and decides to give his love life a second chance. Was he traveling on the right track? Will he fall in love with Laila or will Nimisha enter his life again? Will he ever manage to score more than grace marks?

Review:

37+ Grace Marks is a bittersweet journey of college life and love. It is enriched with humor and many inspirational quotes. The title of the book and its cover beautifully highlight the theme of the story. Right from the start to the end, the book keeps its readers glued to the story. The language was very lucid with flawless narrative style. The story ended in a very optimistic way. The character of Nimisha was very enigmatic as her emotions fluctuated a lot throughout the story. Even the character of Diggy was confusing. In the beginning of the story he supported Nimisha and later he seemed to sympathize with Viraj. The simple story of Viraj teaches all the students a huge lesson of life that life is much beyond marks. Overall this book was a very entertaining and attractive read. I recommend this book to all the teenagers and young adults who want to experience the realm of college life and gain several valuable lessons from the same.

37+ Grace Marks

37+ Grace Marks by Vishal Anand is another teenage romantic fiction. It is a light read and can attract young readers who love reading college romance. Well, this is not practically a romance novel as the female protagonist Nimisha keep rejecting the proposal of Viraj and she is also not an important character of the story. This novel revolves around the college life of Viraj and his friends.

Viraj is just an another engineering student who is not so good in studies. He is just passing time in college when this girl Nimisha enters the story and Viraj falls in love with him. They became good friends but when he expressed his love for her she rejects him, not once but twice. Suddenly she disappears from the story and Viraj gets involved with other things like his projects, friends, and fests. Now to make readers remember Nimisha's character her name is mentioned here and there. At the end of the story, she met with an accident and Viraj saved her and after some time she asks him to meet her. Picture end, the end. This book has nothing more to offer.

The language was simple but the narration was quite boring in some chapters. It was as if the author was trying to stretch the story. But in some places, the story was rushed. The story could have been written in a better way. The title of the story is well chosen according to the story and the cover having a picture of three guys and a girl reading books also matches the theme of the novel.

This book is a one time read and suitable for those who are looking for a light college life story.

Welcome to 37 + Grace Marks, Viraj's journey to discover that there is more to life than marks.

Title and book cover –

The book cover can easily give you a feel of college life with gang of friends and lots of fun. The highlighted no. 37 gives us a nostalgic feeling and takes us back to college days where most of us struggled to get the so called GRACE MARKS or PASSING MARKS.

The title of the book is very apt and catchy. It gives a clear picture about the plot being related to the college life. The subtitle ‘because life is beyond numbers’ gives a very strong message that marks do not set MARK of your life. Knowledge is far more important than the numbers.

Summary –

I have just completed my engineering and I can very well relate to this plot. It was like reliving my engineering life once again.

The story begins with life of engineering college with Viraj being the central character. With high dreams and aspiration, Viraj enters a new phase in life. As’ friends’ is what the college life is famous for, Viraj also finds two of his best friends in Punit and Sahil. Life seemed to be great until one day his eyes fell on the most beautiful girl of his class – Nimisha. This love at first sight couldn’t go very far as his proposal was soon rejected by her. Shattered , Viraj gets busy in collecting his broken pieces just when Laila enters his life .

Is Laila the true love of Viraj’s life?

Will he be ableto forget Nimisha?

Will this love interfere in his journey to achieve his dreams?

Will he be able to score well or just the passing marks?

Grab this romabtic thriller to know what more this book holds.

This book is an amalgamation of friendship, love, heartbreak, problems and their solution. From struggling for maintain the attendance to backlogs, from long phone calls to treats, from love at first sight to first heart break; this book has got a lot to offer. The inspirational lines and humor adds additional spice to the story. Viraj’s story teaches everyone a very big lesson that life is definitely beyond marks and numbers.

Positives and negatives -

The plot of the book is good but the story gets predictable in the middle. The climax is unpredictable and is very well portrayed. The narration is very good and language is simple. Some grammatical mistakes hinder the pace of reading.  At times the story goes very slow but the characters keep you hooked to it till very end.

Overall a nice and light read.

About the book: The story starts with Viraj standing on a cliff. Frustrated from his life, he decides to end it. Life was not easy for him, college life and unsuccessful love!
The book depicts the true picture of the society. We live in the society where marks are more important than the knowledge.
About Viraj: He is the protagonist of the story. An engineering student struggling to get good marks. Viraj was quite reserved, an introvert and bashful. He falls in love with his batch-mate Nimisha. Love at first sight! But things do not go well. It was one-sided.He failed in love too. But he has amazing friends who are always there to help him and are always ready to jump in whenever he faced trouble.
Things which I liked the most : it's different from other books. Written in a very simple language and is easy to understand. It has a nice love story. All the one-sided lovers can feel the pain (LOL). There were some grammatical errors but overall the book was amazing with a great story.
The lines which really inspired me: its in page no. 168 where Viraj's father calls him and says-
" No mark sheet in this world tells you about the abilities of a child. It tells you a few numbers that will be forgotten, sooner or later. "

Well, that's true! I think we should learn something from Viraj's father.
Overall, this book was amazing. It makes one remember their college life. I recommend it to everyone.

THE PLOT IN BRIEF-

What happens when you fall in love at first sight? That too in college, which is supposed to be the best time of one's life. But is it the best place to find love too?
Viraj falls head over heels in love with his classmate Nimisha, who could make boys on campus go crazy. While his friends Punit and Sahil just want to have fun - despite poor mark-sheets, grace marks to pass, and other everyday adventures - Viraj wants more from his life and love.

Welcome to 37 + Grace Marks, Viraj's journey to discover that there is more to life than marks.

THE TITLE-

Are marks everything? As you work to become a better student, remember that learning is far more important than the numbers on your transcript. I know it can be hard sometimes to remember what you're in school for. In some places, students go crazy over a tenth of a point - but this is an unhealthy and unsustainable way to manage your education. The real reason you're in school is to grow as a person and fulfil your potential. But in a country like India it is not so. Grades really cover up failure to teach. A bad instructor can go through an entire semester leaving absolutely nothing memorable in the minds of his class, curve out the scores on an irrelevant test, and leave the impression that some have learned and some have not. But if the grades are removed the class is forced to wonder each day what it’s really learning. The questions, what’s being taught? What’s the goal? How do the lectures and assignments accomplish the goal? Become ominous. The removal of grades exposes a huge and frightening vacuum.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK-

Education system in India is very different, where marks matters everything. From ones childhood, a kid is always forced to get an A+. Ideally, what should be said to every child, repeatedly, throughout his or her school life is something like this: 'You are in the process of being indoctrinated. We have not yet evolved a system of education that is not a system of indoctrination. We are sorry, but it is the best we can do. What you are being taught here is an amalgam of current prejudice and the choices of this particular culture. The slightest look at history will show how impermanent these must be. You are being taught by people who have been able to accommodate themselves to a regime of thought laid down by their predecessors. It is a self-perpetuating system. Those of you who are more robust and individual than others will be encouraged to leave and find ways of educating yourself — educating your own judgements. Those that stay must remember, always, and all the time, that they are being moulded and patterned to fit into the narrow and particular needs of this particular society.
This plot beautifully highlights marks entangled with emotions. Especially the plot sequence of Viraj and Nimisha reflects that everybody has a home team: It’s the people you call when you get a flat tire or when something terrible happens. It’s the people who, near or far, know everything that’s wrong with you and love you anyways. These are the ones who tell you their secrets, who get themselves a glass of water without asking when they’re at your house. These are the people who cry when you cry. These are your people, your middle-of-the-night, no-matter-what people.
And then? What happens when you can’t cope up with this A+? Stress, anxiety, depression and finally Suicide. Sometimes you're trying so hard to get your life together and still it's not enough, everything is falling apart. What to do, you're asking. Just keep going through hell for yourself, not for everyone else. Richer with that wisdom, I will build my happiness from nothing. I will rise from the dust. And I will do it on my own. I will live for myself and I won’t look at the others. Without being push to the wall, we will have remained in our comfortable zone. But this circumstance challenges us to find the courage to move on.

That was a glimpse. To read about what exactly happens to Viraj’s Life please order your book from

My Verdicts:
the story starts on an engineering college and what up and down comes in an engineering student you will find that moment penned down beautifully. Every story has a designated end and in final all things are going to be good. So let's focus on the plot and story narration. This is the story of an engineering student named Viraj. Like all student, he joined the college to become a computer engineer. Soon he became connected with Punit and Sahil and their true friendship you will find here. Life is like a movie and if it is a movie then we must have lead characters on this and already you know that Viraj is the hero of this story. It was the first day of class when Viraj enter to the classroom, where he sees so many faces and all are a stranger to him. Classes are going on regular base and some days passes. A sound at the door relieved all the students, pulling me out of musings.A gorgeous girl asked in a sweet tone, “ may I come in ma'am ” and professor allowed her to come inside. The professor asked her for late entry to the college and she explained her situation. Viraj is not that type of guy who falls in love but that day that atmosphere has a magical ambiance of her presence, named “Nimisha”. And the thing happened to love at first sight but due to his shyness he never able to talk to her. he collected the no of Nimisha and called from a telephone box. He introduces himself with a fake name and their call duration goes rapidly increasing. One fine day he came to know that someone from his friend circle proposed her. now he got impatient and want to reveal his identity to Nimisha, and thing going to change. Here you can see the intensity of first love but when an inexperienced person handles this without proper planning things are going to change in its way. Apart from this, you will found the fun and Masti in college time. Some unwanted troubles, how three friend faces that also describe beautifully. During the book all reader found their college memories refreshed. After rejection from Nimisha, his heart broken and he is fully shattered. Seeing his condition one of his friends “Utsav” gives him a girl no. Named Laila. Now Viraj is happy yo talk with her but inside he yearns for Nimisha love. Now Laila falls in love with Viraj, what will be going to happens? why Nimisha hates Viraj so much that she don’t want to talk to her. Do these activities put an impact on his engineering career? All questions answer lies beneath the book. A book consist of all color of engineering life and story narration is too good. Sometimes it goes a little bit slow but overall a good read.

The life of a student is surrounded by complexities. It includes myriad facets of love, relationships, friendships, studies, family, peer pressure, an uncertainty about future and what not. The fun and frolic is a vital ingredient of a student life and so an inevitable part is MARKS!

The book has Viraj as its center attraction, an engineering student who gets worried about his performance as the exams approach. He tends to put in all his best efforts to at least pass the exam and when the result is declared – he managed to nail few subjects because of the grace marks awarded to him. As the days pass by, he falls in love with his classmate Nimisha at the first sight. He makes all the possible efforts to woo her but to no avail. He gives up on food to impress the Almighty to grant his only wish – love of Nimisha. He lands in a hospital due to his declining health and still gets an unrequited love.

Life has led Viraj to the edge of a cliff. He has a choice to make – to end his life or to come to terms with the life. Which way he chooses??

Read more to find out. Whether Viraj is able to come off age and tackle his dilemma? Will he be able to find his love? Or,

Will he realize that true love has a different meaning and the one that appears to be the one might be a deception! Will he be able to convince himself that the life is much more than the Marks??

REVIEW:
The plot is very interesting. You may fall head over heels in love with this book. One could completely relate with the life of Viraj whose circumstances lead him to the edge of a cliff! The author has made a wonderful attempt at bringing out the predicaments of a college student’s life. The coherence of the storyline will take you along with it and will let you relive and cherish the sweet memories of your college life. The author took up an out of the league genre and has woven a unique plot around it. The story encompasses all the feelings, a wide array of human emotions and the vestiges of fun elements here and there. The presentation is both simple and rustic. It is a simple story with a crisp storyline. As the narrative proceeds, the truths of life unveil before the readers. Through Viraj, the reader will find out the meaning and purpose of the life and that the love of family and support of true friends can sail you out of any storm.

All in all, the 37+ GRACE MARKS with its simplicity and subtlety deserves a sure place in the hearts of its readers.

Life is built from failures but just those failures cannot make up one’s life. The fruit of success can be tasted only through the seed of failure. Such is the life of Viraj Aron, the protagonist of the novel ‘37+ Grace Marks’.

Viraj Aron, is a typical engineer student, whose life, as he thinks, is filled with troubles. The story revolves around the small circle of Viraj, which includes his few good friends and his only love, Nimisha. As the tale opens, the tragic level is seemed at its peak with Viraj planning to end his life. We are sharply affected but the serious note, when we come to know about the pain of Viraj, as his heart spills out the flashback.

The tale is rolled back to the first year of Viraj’s college life, from where we encounter so many incidents, a few little people but one and only love, Nimisha. Just like any other illustrative teenager, Viraj falls for Nimisha at the very next moment when his glance captures those blue eyes of secrets.

Like a lotus which blooms for an untouchable sun, Viraj, still knowing it is not possible to make Nimisha his love, tries to get hold of the flame ball in his hands. The failure he meets, breaks him down but he is fortunate enough to overcome it.

Viraj tries to keep himself engaged in different activities to make his mind free from the thoughts of Nimisha. But only when he tries to pull her out of his mind. It seems she has clutched tight deep into his soul. Each night, it is harder for him to take ip the truth. soon, he partly gets out of Nimisha’s thoughts, partly acting, indeed. But then, in the end, something terrible happens and has it been really that bad??

To untie the knot, swim through the pages of the novel, 37+ Grace Marks by Vishal Anand.

The author, Vishal Anand, easily gets the attention of the writers through his simple yet grasping narration. The crisp of college life, which is lived by an engineer student, emerges now and then, reminiscing one’s own life. Though the story holds the grip pf tragedy from the start, it is loosened at the end.

A few years after college you are not going to remember your class time but your time spent with friends, you are not going to remember the number you scored but your friend’s phone numbers!

37+ Grace Marks presents a story about youth, college life, and romance. One among lakhs, Viraj struggled hard and got into a prestigious institute for his further studies. But his momentum is not maintained there, living the life of fun, pleasure, and romance, he had to depend on grace marks to move on to next semesters. Will he go down the pit or will he bounce back? Does your score matter more than anything? Grab a copy soon to know more…

The simple and easy to connect story is what that keeps you linked to the book. Viraj is someone who you can see around yourself or maybe IN yourself. The language is simple and easy. It has a motivational aspect to it, it tells you that life is more than about the marks you score or the people you come across, it’s more about finding yourself. The book cover and the title pleased me too.

The writing style could have been a bit better and I expected more from the plot, something more intriguing and suspenseful. Other than those, as it is, it was a good read.

37+ Grace Marks by Vishal Anand is book which portraited the journey of an engineering student. The title of book is very catchy and attracts the attention of the readers and the cover goes perfect well with the title and plot of the story. Viraj the male protagonist stayed away from his family in a different and unknown city to pursue engineering. He found new friends, did some mischievous things too out some he learned lessons for life , while with some other he carried memories which he can cherish for life. His first love and the pain it gave, and failures and hurdles every single phase of his student journey was very well portraited by the author. Everyone can relate to this book in a way or so as all of us are students at some point life. And I recommend this book to all readers.

37+ Grace Marks, revolves around Viraj who studies in the engineering college where he fell in love with Nimisha. They say first love is always memorable and as most often it gets rejected. Viraj gets busy in collecting his broken pieces just when Laila enters his life. A twist in the plot

My review

The books bring InSite of every engineering college student’s life love and the need of marks, both of them has been pictured perfectly . The story gives everyone a nostalgic feeling of one’s college life. A romantic thriller. It’s a heart touching story of love, friendship that is full of emotions. The way the author narrated the story seams flawless.
Viraj’s story teaches everyone a very big lesson that life is beyond marks and numbers.

As the title suggest the book is about college life. This book narrates a beautiful story of an engineering student who falls in love and gets rejected, chases grace mars to get promoted and learn a lot of things about life from his college.

The author made a very good attempt in bringing an engineering student's life in front of everyone. Don't mistake this book as a romantic story though it can be count in a mixed genre. The language and the way author have narrated the story is pretty awesome, it's simple and flawless. The climax was really unpredictable that's a plus point for the story but in the middle, you will start to feel bored because of little slow plot. The connection between the chapters can be found missing sometimes.

But calculating every aspect of this book from the language to the story, it's a quite nice read for the weekend.

A nostalgic roller coaster with mixed emotions.
At a certain point it loosens its grip and at another moment, it will land you in the heights of emotions.
Definately a one timer for students, specially for engineers.

37+ Grace Marks is a story revolving around engineering college. If you read the book and you are a college going student you can relate to each and every part. It would seem you are seeing things in front of you or rather I should say you would feel you are a part of it. The book holds the story of a guy Viraj who came to engineering college with high aims in his mind. He was surely blessed with a wonderful sets of friends. Viraj like every other random boy falls in love with his classmate Nimisha. Viraj life was not so simple. He had to face biggest hurdle and among them passing the semester exam was one of the most difficult and important hurdle which he need to pass. But he got back in few papers and he decided something. But a phone call from his father which stopped him. Apart from all this, the books contains tales of love, friendship, few wrong funny things which mostly all student do. Those late night funs will all lead to laughter. Overall, it was a wonderful one time read. The cover of the book was beautifully designed. Although, I liked the sub title more than the title.

“37+ Grace Marks” is the book written by Vishal Anand (after the ‘Bestselling’ short story collection named “Emotions Unplugged”).
The cover design of the book is really good, happening and justifying as per the content of the story. Thanks to Lucy Sahputra for the effort in making the design of the book cover. Among all the books that I have in my collection, this is the 21st book published by Srishti Publishers & Distributors that I have read.
The title “37+ Grace Marks” (subtitle ‘…because life is beyond numbers!’) is pretty much unique, interesting, it can make any reader curious enough to pick this book up. It is appropriate for the book.
The language of the book is lucid and simple. One thing I’d like to say that the choices of words in some places really amazed me. Narrating style of the incidents one after another is plain and easy for readers to connect with the story. Plot is good no doubt, but the grip and the flow of the story loosen a bit after a point. It seems that some places are being stretched a little unnecessarily.
The theme of the book is romance, friendship and life lessons.
Characterization is very well and keeping aside the protagonist of the story (Viraj), each of the supporting and side characters also played and did justify to their role aptly till the end. Along with Viraj, I’d like to mention three other characters and their roles are equally important according to the content and plot of the story. They are- Punit (Viraj’s batch mate and his closest friend in college), Sahil (Punit’s roommate, and close friend of both Viraj and Punit), and Nimisha (Viraj’s batch mate and the girl whom Viraj loves from the core of his heart).
Here goes the story- Viraj was a student of Computer Engineering who was never serious or attentive about his study and classes at the right time when needed. He just managed to score the pass marks somehow and that too by getting ‘grace marks’ in maximum subjects of the field of his study. Eventually he crossed paths with Nimisha who is a ‘beauty with brain’ type of girl in the same college at the same department of Viraj. Since the very first moment after seeing her, Viraj had fallen head over hills for her. Yes, he was in love with Nimisha, deeply, madly, completely. But they were different in nature and personality. After some casual interactions and putting some sweet efforts in phone conversations, Viraj finally somehow managed to gather the courage to put his real feelings in front of her face to face, but unfortunately faced rejection instantly from her. After failing several time to convince her, Viraj was broken by inside and shattered completely, and because of all this, everything around him was affected; specially his condition of health was getting worse day by day and he got to hospitalized after a point. What happened with Viraj after that? How did he manage to cope up with the situation? What is awaiting him regarding his career and his unrequited love? How far can he manage to go with the grace marks? The marks are not everything to decide the future of one’s life.. Or...are they? Grab your copy of this book and find out these answers by yourself.
Author Vishal Anand has successfully depicted the real picture of the education system and their outcome nowadays. The life of an engineering student and the college life, enjoying with friends, party, the last minute preparation, group studies, exam panic, result tension, naughtiness, class bunk, practical, everything is portrayed here so perfect and aptly by the author that I was feeling deeply nostalgic about my college days. I was literally missing my college..indeed.. It was like visualizing and living those moments once again.. The emotions and feelings of Viraj towards Nimisha, and the strong bonding of friendship and support of Punit and Sahil, during the tough times of Viraj, touched my heart to the core. In some places, I really laughed out loud to see the sense of humor of the author. I want to share a line from the book in support of my above statement- “I felt like catching him by his long hair and repeatedly dunking his head into an overflowing commode until he swore that Nimisha was his sister”. Oh god, and the most funny incident I found was the resort incident between Punit and Ruhi.. I mean, I was just imagining Punit face and reaction after getting outside of the resort..Oh..I’m unable to stop laughing even now. The loyal and genuinely loving and caring side of Viraj impressed me a lot. I was having tears while reading the ph conversation between Viraj and his father at that crucial moment. Finally what Viraj had done after the accident at last, that’s something I adore the most in this book. Lastly, I want to say that, marks are no doubt important for any students in his life and to secure a ‘Job’ they do play an important role..but…..Marks aren’t everything to decide anyone’s talent or future. The students are all included in the rat race of getting marks the highest not only to secure a hi fi job in a company or but it has become a prestige issue now also. This is one of the main fault of our education system, it doesn’t allow the student to grow and mature freely by their heart and to do whatever they are capable to do the best with their future. It forces the student to get the marks somehow by hook or crook to so that they can also become the part of the crowd, this is something that is ruining future and lives of many bright talented students who may not be that good in study but they may are extremely talented in something other fruitful that can make their future bright and make them proud in front of others. We just need to think in a different way and to handle the upcoming in a positive manner without giving up hope. Because…there is more to life than marks..
Author has done a really good job I’d like to say. It’s a good book to read indeed. All the best to the author for his future. Thank you.

37+ Grace Marks by Vishal Anand follows the life of Viraj, a computer engineering student at a college in Pune. The story encapsulates the lifestyle of a typical engineering student, friendship, rivalry, love, bankruptcy and the most important of all, passing the semester without any backlogs.

Viraj is a first year computer engineering student and this is his story. Being in a college where girls are scarce is a feat, so when the beautiful Nimisha entered the class for the first time, after almost half the semester had passed, Viraj and several other guys had their eyes only for her. For Viraj, it was love at first sight, seeing her everyday from that day on, he would feel blessed. Soon, the end of sem exams arrive, and realizing he hasn’t even picked up his books till now, Viraj enlists the help of his friends to make him complete the entire syllabus in three days before the exams. But who in the world has ever stuck to the studying routine, and these guys were no different. Having wasted his entire sem, Viraj wasted more than half of his precious three days as well, eyeing up girls from neighbouring colleges and munching. Needless to say, he barely manages to pass, with one backlog as well. What follows is shock and fake promises to study next time.
All this while, Viraj was never able to let Nimisha out of his mind. Even the slightest mention of her name sent electricity down his spine and he found himself lost in her thoughts. On the behest of his friends, he call her at midnight of Valentine’s Day, not revealing his identity. Their chats continue for a month before she demands to meet him. Reluctantly, he comes out in the open, tells her he loves her, after which she asks him to maintain distance. But the lover boy just couldn’t, his infatuation deepens with time, and at one point, he abuses her as a result of his frustration. In spite of warnings from their common classmates, Viraj is unable to keep himself away from her, and requests her friend to let him spend his birthday with her. An arrangement is done, Viraj sits across at a different table with his friends while Nimisha on another with hers. When she gets to know the reason of the coincidence of him being in the same restaurant as her, she goes upto him and asks him to treat to a sweet dish, just for the sake of being cordial. Now the lover boy, falls hopelessly in love, unable to eat or drink which lands him in hospital with saline drips. Only after staying there for a few days and repeated coercing from his friends does he understand the need to eat and stay healthy, in order to continue his preparations for upcoming exams.
Viraj tries to put Nimisha in the backseat while his friends arrange for a set up another girl, but it fails too. Nimisha doesn’t go away from his mind. Losing in love and then losing an academic year since he failed, he finds himself at the edge of a cliff, ready to jump, but is saved by a call from his father at the nick of time. Motivation from his father enables him to finish his pending graduation and he passes with good marks. The day before his train to his home, when he is travelling on the highway, he witnesses an accident, only to find the victim as Nimisha. He rushes her to the nearby hospital, informs her parents and leaves just as she was coming into her senses after the successful operation. Six months later, he receives a call, from his beloved Nimisha, asking him to meet her, and then, life is beautiful.

The plot of this novel is like a lame rip off of the immensely popular, Five Point Someone. The narrative is that of first person, Viraj, but at times it changes to simple narration of events where he is not even present. The time span which is covered in the story is unbalanced, some semesters are spoken of via multiple chapters while others are just skipped in a line or two. It lacks a continuity. The language is extremely simple, more like having been translated to English directly from Hindi, phrases have been used where a simple word could have sufficed. There are instances form the book where the author seems to have been confused, while he speaks about telephone booths on one hand, he switches to mobile phones in the next chapter. One particular instance that made me question logic was when Viraj sees a coffee moustache on Laila, the girl he was talking to, just when in the previous line he exclaimed how quickly she was sucking all the coffee in via a straw! And the most important of all, should a girl suddenly love a guy and be ready to be with him just because he saved her life, even if he stalked her for full four years?
Having pushed myself to reach the last page of the novel, despite wanting to put it down after just a couple of chapters was a daunting task. The plot seemed to be going no-where, the author couldn’t clearly demarcate the course in which the story was heading. The name of the book suggested a good read, maybe a story about a student passing with 37+ grace marks always, during his tenure as a student, yet making it big in the real world, proving that marks don’t define the calibre of a person, it is his talent and the ability to thrive for the best of his future, but became a feeble stalking love story. Had the plot followed a more definitive approach to the journey of the protagonist, instead of it being a bunch of situations thrown together, alienated from each other to some extent, the novel could have been an eye opener to those who think good marks are the only way to a successful future.

Cover: The cover is very beautiful. It is attractive too. It can bring readers by its charm to it. The cover depicts itself a story. A group of college students has been showed in the cover, they are busy with their books and mobile gadgets. After analysing the cover one can guess about the story hidden inside the book.
Title: The title is so meaningful. It is heart touchable for college students. After listening the title any college student will want to read it as it is related to their study, exam and marks. One can easily make out the story is going to relate to college life and marks. This title has been matched to the cover of this book. The subtitle along with the title takes this book to a new level. It can be supposed by analysing the title and subtitle that grace marks are going to play an important role in student’s life in this book.
Blurb: The blurb portion has been written and edited well. It is short and nice. But it is well enough to understand about the fact inside the book. After reading the blurb, one can guess it’s going to be a love story too and grace marks are going to effect on it. The blurb claims that the story is related to love, friendship, grace marks and student life.
Storyline: The story has been plotted well . This book is an amalgamation of friendship, love, heartbreak, problems and their solution. The climax of this story is unpredictable and is very well portrayed. The inspirational lines and humour add additional spice to this story. At times the story goes very slow and one might be felt boring while reading . You have to keep patience until the story ends and you will get several lessons from this story. This story teaches us a very big lesson that life is definitely beyond marks and numbers.
Characters: Characters are characterized well here in this book. Author has done a great job by creating all characters. The main character is Viraj who falls in love with his classmate, Nimisha. She is a character with all her charming personality which makes every guy falling in love for her. The novel revolves around the college life of Vraj and his friends. The role of Punit and Sahil has been plotted well in this story. The characters keep you hooked to the story till very end.
Narration: This book could be edited well. There are grammar errors and spelling mistakes in some chapters. But author has done a great job by using lucid language. Moreover, this book has been narrated good. But it could be more interesting . The language in this story is simple but gets boring in some chapters.
This is a book that makes one to remember their college life with all thrills, love, friendship etc. You can feel a reality while reading this story. I would like to recommend this book to all college students to read for once to understand the meaning of love, friendship and specially student life. Thank you Vishal Anand to write this beautiful book and giving us the opportunity to read it.

37+ Grace Marks is just another book dealing with life of an engineer finding it hard to keep up with the pace of college life. What makes it different are the incidents that followed that may make you stick to it until you gobble the book to the very last page.
Viraj Aron, a student doing his computer engineering in Pune. Just like every other student Viraj also dreams to be a successful engineer and bag some cool high scale job at some renowned firm just like Google. However reality was a little different due to his performance in studies with three backlogs in the first semester and more to be followed in second his dream of working in Google seem to fade away. Also he was a total loser because neither he was studious nor was loved by the girl with whom he fell in love at first sight.
19046973_1493514200707297_1967089155_n.jpg
Nimisha, the girl with whom Viraj was in love never really valued his love. Viraj tried his entire mean to woo Nimisha but failed drastically and same followed with his life too. Whether it was study or love Viraj sucked at everything he did. His triads with Laila and Sonia didn’t work out either. Neither of his friends was of any help and then the only way he saw in front was to end his miserable life which will end his miseries as well once and for all. SO Viraj decides to call it a quit and strode to the point on some hill to jump off the edge. Just a push away and it will end for him. Will it end that easily? I think you should find out yourself by getting yourself a copy of 37+ grace marks by Vishal Anand. Speaking of the positive point I can only think of the narration which was really good. I didn’t feel bore or yawned a bit while reading this book. I read in one sitting and that’s it, it was finished just like that. Negative point is its predictability. It was really predictable and most of my prediction came true. I wasn’t reading nothing new still it was way better and one of the lines I quote of the book is, ‘No volume of guilt can change the past’, very true lines indeed. So, read this book without a second thought if you are a beginner you will find it fascinating and if you aren’t then go for it because it may help you relive your college days.

Cover: 4.5/5
The cover design is really good giving the touch of college life of students.

Title : 4.5/5
Seems interesting. Are marks everything? As you work to become a better student, remember that learning is far more important than the numbers on your transcript.
I know it can be hard sometimes to remember what you're in school for.

Theme : 4/5
Students go crazy over a tenth of a point, but this is an unhealthy and unsustainable way to manage your education in our country.
The real reason you're in school is to grow as a person and fulfil your potential. But in a country like India it is not so.
Grades really cover up failure to teach. A bad instructor can go through an entire semester leaving absolutely nothing
memorable in the minds of his class, curve out the scores on an irrelevant test, and leave the impression that some have
learned and some have not. But if the grades are removed and the classes become interactive.
The questions, what’s being taught? What’s the goal? How do the lectures and assignments accomplish the goal?

Story : 4/5
The book has Viraj as its center attraction, an engineering student who is worried about his performance.
He tends to put in all his best efforts to at least pass the exam and when the result is declared,
he managed to pass few subjects because of the grace marks awarded to him. As the days pass by, he falls in love
with his classmate Nimisha at the first sight.
He gives up on food to impress the Almighty to grant his only wish, love of Nimisha. He lands in a hospital
due to his declining health and still gets an unrequited love.
He has a choice to make – to end his life or to come to terms with the life.
Which way he chooses?
Whether Viraj is able to come off age and tackle his dilemma? Will he be able to find his love?
Will he realize that true love has a different meaning than mere timepass?
Will he be able to convince himself that the life is much more than mere marks?
Read more to find out.

Language : 3.5/5
The language was simple but the narration was quite boring in some chapters. It was as if the author was trying to stretch the story.
But in some places, the story was rushed. The story could have been written in a better way.

The story is started with a prologue where the protagonist of the story, Viraj was on the ledge's end taking decisions to end his life. The story is based on the life of an engineer during his engineering college days. Struggling for attendance to abusing the professors for giving low marks, one can easily relate to their college days. Engineering days are boring unless you find a girl, fall in love and get your heart broken once, you are not a true engineer. Having high expectations from parents to do well in engineering to fall in love with Nimisha, stealing milk packets at 4 am during exams to having three backlogs at the end of the first year, Viraj's life was no less than the ride of a roller coaster. While being surrounded by friends like Praneet, Punit, Sahil, Diggy, Utsav and a lot more to end the list made him create various memories to be spotted in the engineering days memoir, landing up in the jail, failing to submit the assignments and journals were became a daily routine of his college life.

The author has narrated the story in first person's perspective which will help a reader, mostly an engineering student to laugh in various situations. The incidents were described with minute details which will help a reader to imagine the scene happening. Be it their ride while being chased by a police jeep or be it portraying the character, the author has made sure to give every detail of the surroundings.

The cover has four college students sitting somewhere reading books, a scene which is during exams. The cover is apt for the title and the story it has to offer. It's truly said with a lot of details, sometimes the story becomes boring. The author has given the details a lot more than required at places which are quite off the track. The author has failed to keep the links between chapters which may confuse a reader. Also, the grammatical errors will irk you a lot. Though the story has some funny parts, but it failed to tickle the bones because of the 'too mainstream' conversations. This book is recommended for all those who love college-romance fictions. Though it's different from other college-romance stories, it's just a one time read.

Life has led Viraj to the edge of a cliff. He has a choice to make – to forget everything and jump, or fight.
What brought him here? An unrequited love, encounters with law, or the dilemma of grace marks? Where does Viraj's story eventually end?
Welcome to 37 + Grace Marks, Viraj's journey to discover that there is more to life than marks.

My Review –
It’s a campus romance fictional novel by Vishal Anand. The main lead role is Viraj. And story revolves around Viraj, his friends and nimisha, his love. It’s simple story about the engineering student’s life. The story explains that the importance of knowledge that we gain during learning is more than the numbers on mark sheet we obtained from exam. Everyone one should emphasize more on learning than just preparing for exams and score good score. The title 37+ GRACE MARKS – because life is beyond numbers! itself display the same meaning as story explains. And the cover design shows the college life that exactly the book holds. Language is easy to comprehend. The characters portrayed well yet lack the depth. Narration flow is good. I would suggest this book one who love campus reading romance fiction. Just for it. It’s a light and enjoyable read. And I would like to give 3.5/5 stars.

It opens with a boy (Viraj) who comes to the town of Pune and joins one of the best Engineering colleges with aspirations to do good in his life. Viraj in his first semester, like all engineering students, finds his two best friends (Punit and Sahil) and they become his go-to guys for everything, He lives breathes and enjoys every moment of his college life with them. Then one day as his semester is about to end he falls in love at first sight with the newly entered student in his branch "Nimisha". The story revolves around the three friends and how Viraj falls in love with Nimisha, How he tries to be a secret admirer in his life. But when one of his group mates uses his secret identity to propose the lady he loves, how he has to come clean and things go bad from there. But what happens next is unexpected. Buy the book To find whether Nimisha ever forgives Viraj for lying to her and keeping her in the dark? Will Viraj find love in the rebound? Has Viraj completely forgotten about Nimisha? Will Punit, Viraj and Sahil stick together for rest of their college lives?

Author has taken inspiration from engineering lives of Indian students and has tried to create scenarios around that, it might have been the reason that During the first few chapters, you won't find a connection between the main characters of the story. The story seems to revolve only around the friendship that Viraj feels for Punit and Sahil and how their company affects his behaviour. The stories and incidents do seem interesting sometimes but for the most part, they lack the attraction that one usually finds in the books that take you back in the memory lane. The book, at last, teaches us not to give up. No matter how bad the situation gets, God always has a plan to take you out.

From the title of this book, 37+ Grace Marks …because life is beyond numbers, one can easily guess about what the story is. This is Viraj’s journey to discover that there is more to life than marks. What happened with him in this journey and he learnt from it? How does he tackle everything during this period?

Viraj, the protagonist has narrated this story. He is doing computer engineering from college in Pune. Viraj has told everything that happened with him in those 4-5 years of his college life. How he falls in love Nimisha in the first sight. What happened after that and what he does for the love? How his friends helped him and how he performed in the semestral examination?

Each chapter of this novel tells a different story related to him. It does not seem like a romantic fiction. It is a simple story of an undergraduate student. But it’s interesting. Some chapters are boring too because those have nothing to do with the story. It has been added to increase the number of pages. Climax of this novel is very interesting like a Bollywood movie. And at last it ends in a happy ending fashion and teaches us a very important thing that Marks does not decide the future of everyone.

But Narration is not up to the mark and as a regular reader I’ll say that there are many novels better than this based on story like this. The author has narrated a common story and these days readers are being fed up of reading same thing from every new authors. They have to understand this thing because everyone is not interested in reading the personal story of an engineer, doctor or anyone’s unless the book contains something different and extraordinary. So, My rating for this book is 3/5.
