“They crossed him. He killed them…. in the name of justice.”
From Robert Hanlon, the bestselling author of “Texas Bounty Hunter,” “Bounty For The Preacher” and “Pecos Bounty Hunter” comes his best Western… “Clint Cain – Texan Avenger.” Vengeance, repentance and justice come in many forms. For Clint Cain, it comes in the form of his gun—a gun he knows how to use better than almost anyone else.
Filled to the brim with action, adventure, plot twists and gunsight justice—Clint Cain is not a man to be crossed. This is a book filled with the dead, the dying and those who don’t get in his way—because those who do cross Clint Cain end up dead. Real dead.

I enjoy a western story, but it is hard to find any new stories as it is a genre that is out of favor at the moment. I was so happy to find this series by Robert Hanlon and it was published in 2017. I gather that Hanlon is self-published or what they call independent publishing. Hanlon is a new author for me.
The story is a typical standard western story. There is no gray area just good versus evil. The story starts with Clint as a sixteen-year-old helping his grandfather work a mule ranch. Since coming back from the Civil War, Clint’s father is an alcoholic. Clint’s father served in the Union Army and the grandfather served with the Confederate Army. After a beating by his father, Clint leaves home to become a cowboy. He joins a cattle drive heading to Colorado and then is taken in and raised by the rancher. Clint is grown and ready to take over as the ranch foreman and then the action begins. Needless to say, the story follows a typical western pattern.
The book is well written and the plot is a classic old fashion western. The book was too short to allow for much character development, but this is book one of a trilogy. I am looking forward to the next installment.
I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. The book is three and a half hours. Lawrence D. Palmer does an adequate job narrating the book. I would prefer someone with a baritone voice. This is my first time listening to Palmer narrate.
Mistreated at home by an alcoholic father whose angry at the world. All the wrongs that he incurred throughout his life he took it out on his sixteen year old son..SHAME...Clint Cain's grandfather who he refers to as "pappy" who tried to make amend the hurt and mental abuse his grandson endured from his father. Clint Cain's father heard some gossip in town about some Pinkerton Detectives who visited his father's farm inquiring about some men who ran with Quantrell Raiders. His went ballastic upon hearing this news and poor Clint knew he was going to pay for this dearly, especially since his father had been drinking in saloon. That's when Clint said to himself enough is enough..he runs away, but first he visits his pappy to tell him his plans. The grandfather is very sad to hear his grandson say he's tired of the beatings. Clint finds work, education and he becomes a good cowboy. The man made all this possible is a man referred to as The Colonel, who cultivated Clint's living in the west was not for the feeble heart. You grew up fast in the west, it was either kill or be killed..This is beginning for fast moving western series"The Texan Avenger"
Lives really are about being the best you know how to be, reaching to make yourself even better, living honestly and working for what you need and want. I think this is my reason for loving old west tales. An innate sense of right and wrong coupled with courage and determination make up a real old west hero.
What a great book. I have really enjoyed this book.Clint had a hard life as a child, but grew to be a real man. I really hope to see more books on Clint Cain in the future. Thank you for a great read.
