In the Summer of 1797, a young woman is found hanging from a great beam in the library of Calgarth Hall. Seemingly betrayed by the only man she has ever loved, Verity Farrington took her own life on the very day he was set to marry another.

It was a tragic event which was to blight the lives of all within the great Duchies of Calgarth and Horndean. It would turn two of the closest friends into the bitterest of all imaginable enemies and blight the lives of their families for three decades to come.

Nearly thirty years later, the new Duke of Calgarth, Gabriel Farrington, seeks to lead his younger brothers into battle. The old Duke is dead and he has charged his oldest son with the heaviest of duties; the bitter feud between the two great households must persist at any cost. With his own mother so desperate to see the end of the pain and hatred, Gabriel Farrington remains steadfast.

In the Duchy of Horndean, the Old Duke clings to life, presiding over the family he has raised in bitterness. With his scheming wife and daughter his most powerful assets, the Duke sees out the last of his days. But will his own guilt finally catch up with him? And will the truth finally be revealed, smashing the foundations of lies upon which the feud was built?

In amongst the hate, anger, and retribution, will the younger generation of Farringtons and Cunninghams ever find the peace and love they all secretly crave?

Five stories concerning two feuding families involved in a bitter feud for thirty-five years! The story is set in the wild, windswept north of England, with other action occurring in London.

The Collection Includes the Following:
The Duke and the Stolen Bride
The Lord She Could Not Trust

I was deeply disappointed by the behavior of the women in this collection. I expect men to act like tomcats, even in the 1800's; but NOT ONE of these ladies (not even the clergyman's daughter!) had the self-respect or moral fiber to wait until AFTER the wedding to consummate her relationship. I will NOT be reading any more books by this author.

I am confused about the name of Richard Cunningham's oldest sister. At location 778, she is introduced as "Eleanora" and that name is used 34 times in the five books. At location 813, the name is "Eleanor" and that name is also used 34 times. Then, at location 1199, she becomes "Eleonora" and that version is used 36 times. So, the same character is mentioned 104 times, with three different versions of her name. (???)

Well written book with great storyline and plot. A sweet book that has great romance. The story is true to it's time period and the language is also. I like when an author has made research about the time period they want to write the story in.

I love the couples journey towards their HEA. There is drama, family issues, passion, emotions and some twists. Instant attraction. I like the supporting characters. It has a slow start but it gets better within the first 3-4 chapters. True love will always win in the end. Or so we hope.

Nice chemistry and passion. I like the main characters and how they develop. The story flows nicely and it is very captivating from first to last chapter. The author has delivered a story that is worth the read!

The premise was great, however the books were ruined by poor editing. Main character and family names were mixed up. For example Eleanora Cunningham was sometimes named Eleanor and the final book introduced Philip Farrington as Philip Cunningham, the family name of their hated enemies.
The books were written in a style very reminescent of Barbara Cartland and that would have been perfectly lovely except that every couple had to open door anticipate their vows. I have no problem with open door sex, but it was so out of place with the rest of the very sweet and well written stories. This was not necessary and seemed as if the publisher told the author to sex it up.

Very good set of books. This story is about the feud between the Farrington and Cunningham families. It is so sad and useless. I did enjoy the stories, the characters were very interesting and the contrast between them ,the families, was as different as night and day. Each book is a standalone but each leads into the next if you wish to solve the feud. The language is very formal but it definitely works. I highly recommend these books.

A nice way to pass an afternoon and evening. I enjoyed these stories. The only thing that bothered me was that each couple was suddenly overwhelmed by passion after kissing and had to immediately have sex in a time when that was beyond disrespectful and shaming. If there was so much love, at least one of them could have waited to get married first. But no, each was the same. It felt like those scenes were just thrown in.
I still liked the books and will buy more from this author.

Five romances tell us the story of a ducal feud

An ongoing feud that is difficult to understand is told through the subsequent courtships of the five brothers of the Farrington family and their interactions with the Cunningham family. As each brother marries more of the details that cause the long standing feud becomes known.

I enjoyed how the author brought the story to it's conclusion. It is well written and interesting.

A collection of five novellas about two feuding families during the Regency period in England. Each book features a different Farrington brother and the box set spans a period of thirty years. Well written with lots of drama, suspense, angst, passion, feuds and love. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Would you perpetuate a family feud for which you didn't know the complete reason? Would you compel your entire family to follow you in the endeavor? And what part does pride have to play in the initiation and conclusion of the feud?

Regency Fire is a series of five stories of siblings taking up the banner in a battle between two who had once been as close as brothers, until one called off his engagement to the other's sister. She hung herself on her love's wedding day. Her distraught brother, unable to forgive, did all he could against his boyhood friend, and the favor was returned equally. Thirty years later, the second generation doesn't know the particulars, but in loyalty to their father, they continue the feud.

I thoroughly enjoyed this saga. The characters were complete and real, somewhat flawed. It was fortunate that they had the Dowager Duchess of Calgarth to smooth her sons' rough edges and welcome new members into the family. The Cunningham's were a piece of work: only the younger daughter seemed to have her act together. But she was acting at times to disguise her fear and disgust of her family. The last book gives her power.

I had a difficult time stopping reading to do anything else. Read this. You will be quickly hooked.

Sweet!

These are clean, sweet romances. No, there is not deep character development. They are novellas, which I am not a fan of. However, for just a sweet, clean read, they are an easy read. Deeper character development would be helpful, if the Author wants to grow in her craft. I enjoyed the series, I would have liked to see one, or two large books, that were deeper. I will be looking forward to Miss Barton's growth as an Author! You can get read them for free on Amazon Prime. Thanks!

The Collection Includes the Following:

The Duke and the Stolen Bride

The Lord she could not Trust

The Lord and the Attorney’s Niece

The Lord, The Lady, and a Time to Choose

The Descendants and a Time of Hope

My Thoughts:

I had previously read and reviewed parts one through four of this five part series.
All of the parts are short and all except for the last one have cliffhanger endings.
Part five finally brings us to a realization of what caused the rift between the families and how the feud began.
Finally we have our answer and it is vaguely surprising but maybe not all that much.
I gave book five a 4.25 of 5 star rating for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 2 of 5 flames. It is sweet and clean without sexual interaction between the hero and heroine but we do realize there is a feeling of love between these two.

The Brothers Ferrington

What a surprisingly delightful set of novellas covering five brothers and the meeting of their brides! They kept my interest and as each one ended was really looking forward to the next! Loved that each book had a preface as in reAding the back of the book with a hint of the story. You will not be disappointed in these stories..

This is a set of historical romance novellas featuring brothers having a difficult journey to love because of a long-standing feud. Each novella is a pretty quick read and you can read the set fairly quickly in one or two sittings. They are not the steamy historical romances you often find but sweeter romances with some definite desire expressed. It is nice to have them all in one set and at the end you finally get some real information on what caused the feud.

This collection of five novellas in the series follows five brothers who have sworn to continue the feud between the Duchies of Calgarth and Horndean. The Farrington brothers one-by-one find love and find that it is more important than continuing the feud, after all the feud is so sad and useless. I did enjoy the stories, the characters were very interesting and the contrasts between the characters, was as different as night and day. Whilst each book is a standalone it does lead into the next if you wish to solve the feud, so really this boxset enables you to reach the end of the feud. The five stories are well written, the characters are well portrayed & each in their way is likeable. Five clean enjoyable novellas that I’d recommend.

This is a 5 book set about a feud between two families begun in the previous generation. Each book is from the viewpoint of each of five brothers, nephews of a woman who killed herself when the man she loved turned her away. The story was good, although I feel it could be expanded upon. Also I feel each story ended too abruptly. This is a sweet, clean book that I think I would have enjoyed more as a young adult. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Highly entertaining, interesting, sweet and emotional journey following five brothers charged by their dying father to continue a feud started when his little sister was jilted and killed herself over the only man she ever loved.

This set includes all five stories of family loyalty, social standing and the struggle to have a happy future. Very well written and engaging read.
