“You’re a renegade, Brie…you fight for what you believe in.”
Brie, Zander, and Adryan are safely back at Nameless HQ. The debate about what to do next is abating. The High Tower, Brie knows, will need to be destroyed…along with everyone, good and evil, inside.
Brie can’t be part of it, yet she knows she needs to toughen up, and do it fast. This is war now, and in war, innocents die. That’s something that she will never be able to control.
But she can help those she cares about. And as the soundtrack of war begins to play across the northern quarter, Brie finds that she has no choice but to join in.
I should probably avoid reading any more of this if I've been drinking, 'cause woo... dreams of this dystopian world does not result in restful sleep heheh. Lots of action in this one, but the losses faced was brutal. Brie's learning more and more to be a fighter for those she loves.
I have the omnibus edition of this series so will just say that the battle is on.
It's well-written and fast-paced with plenty of thoughts and feelings to bring depth to the story. It does feel a little short and could perhaps have been amalgamated with the previous two books at least, as those have all been about the fight for control.
This series has a good story, and I liked the characters. My only issue, and this continued through all 10 books, is the repetitiveness of all the statements. I can only read "I hate him" (in different words or the same, doesn't matter) so many times before I am sick of hearing it. So, in the later books, I found that I could spot another paragraph that would summarize the same feelings again and I was skipping paragraphs because it was just text with nothing actually happening. The character's inner dialogue was not that important in the story... which brings me to think that this might be nit-picky and maybe this was just a younger reading level (a teen might need these things spelled out for them). However, I would not want my young child reading about the wars, because of the (very well done) descriptions of blood and gore. So, good reads, they drew me in and kept me reading, but I could have used less repetition over the known info and known feelings.
I first came across T.C. Edge's writing on another series which I found to be a spin off of the Enchanted Series. It prompted me to go to the "beginning ". I have not been disappointed yet! Lots of action, an interesting story line , and just wonderfully entertaing.
I used to love reading this series, but recently it seems I'm skipping most of Brie's rambling to actually read things that contribute substance to the story. But, unfortunately I can't seem to stop.
I can say this is the first series I've read where I have ended up hoping the main character dies. The further I read into the series the less I like the main character. I'd go so far as to say I'm beginning to despise her. She refuses to learn that she is placing people in danger, mostly her brother, and is constantly responding to every situation in a way that makes no rational sense. Because of this she is being saved over and over again by her brother. On top of that she is nosey with her mind powers. She just doesn't seems capable of respecting personal space. I get entering minds of enemies but she does it to allies too. Just dredges up their most terrible memories and, let's them relive it, then offers an apology. Supposedly she then feels terrible and guilty and admits to herself she shouldn't do it. This however doesn't stop her from doing it again and again. Being a female myself I feel like her emotional reactions just don't ring true to the situations. They just bounce around like a yo-yo. One second she gets it and the next second she doesn't. She also seems very judgmental and, while she has no problem hoping someone will save her, constantly takes the moral high ground when her brother does kill to save her. I started off enjoying the series but I just don't see any growth in the character.

Has you on the edge of your seat and wanting to keep reading late into the night, long past time when you should be sleeping. Brie is a character that has faults and she caring and daring to the point that sometimes she gets herself in trouble. And the series itself is one where you keep wanting to go to the next book as soon as you finish on. Truly a book I recommend to anyone who loves adventure and action with a strong female lead.
I found the beginning exceedingly tedious. I actually paused reading and read a few other books then came back to this. A couple chapters from where I'd paused the book vastly improved. Brie is coming into her own, discovering wonders and scary stuff about the world around her. This book is the turning point in the war between the Nameless and the Savants. It ends on a pretty large cliffhanger.
I've obviously enjoyed reading these books considering this is the sixth in the series. And, if it wasn't for the grammatical errors, I would have given a higher review. Generally I don't even finish a book when the errors are so blatant but I admit I was wrapped up in the characters and the plot. A little editing will go a long way!
The suspense in this book was intense for me. So much danger lurking everywhere, so many huge, fateful choices for Brie and others to make. I couldn't put the book down last night until I finished, even though I was sooo sleepy. It was that good!
The story it seems keeps going yet it has yet to get boring. It's to intense and the characters continue to grow. Despite the awful choices made in war,Brie gods on to her humanity and I love that about her
Action! Meeting of many new characters that live on the other side of the wall. Some of which become new friends. These books are so well written that you feel like you are right there in the middle of the action.
As the story is progressing, things are getting heated and more of the dystopian world is being revealed! Now that the Tower has been destroyed, I'm anxious to see how the city is rebuilt......
Best one yet. A few errors but no too distracting. I enjoyed Bries bouts of morality. I wanna see her build on that. I love the mountain men. Still don't trust Orlando but the peek into her past was a little eye-opening...if it's true.
This is a fantastic series. The world building and character building was awesome. This would make a wonderful movie or tv series!! I can't wait to delve into the other books by this Author.
Brie has her world turned upside down and fights to protect her friends rather than the cause. At times the rebellion seems to use methods similar to Cromwell so which side is Brie fighting for. Can she live with the decisions she made even if she does not agree with them. The casualties are mounting up and will Brie's humanity become one of them. Sometimes Brie seems idealistic and does not realise in war that there are no good guys and she is struggling to see the big picture. I enjoyed reading about her powers progressing but also recognising that she had a hard time living with the guilt after delving into someone's mind and memories. Will Brie become more like Zander or will she retain her own moral compass, I cannot wait to find out.
Keeps you from putting the book down... Brie is slowly learning more about her powers and the advantage they provide her with. Just as she's finally getting used to life among the Nameless, Cromwell pushes things too far. Now, even Brie, who has the strongest moral compass of all of the Nameless agrees drastic measures must be taken to save as many innocents as possible.
Ah the story continues to draw me in, so many questions to be answered.
Well Brie is continuing to develop her skills both the hybrid and judgement. Brie now appears to accept that no matter how strong your feelings that nature nature can throw curve balls on occasion. I hope we learn about those past characters have fared and how the future developed. I am looking forward to the next art of the series and hope it continues to hold me captive.
I really loved this one! The characters continue to develop and draw you in. While battles and wars can be hard reads for me this one was not hard at all! The pages almost turned themselves. At this point in the series I feel a great connection to the characters and will impatiently wait for more. Read on and enjoy!
